Dating employees is forbidden... but what if fate has other plans?
Samson has the hottest boss in the world and that's just a fact. Working as a server at The Rising Dragon for years has done nothing to stifle his crush—it's only made it worse. But Samson can't afford to lose his job, so he bottles up his feelings and hopes Darcy never catches him blushing.
After all, Samson can never repay the kindness Darcy showed him five years ago. So why jeopardize things by confessing his love to an alpha he knows won't reciprocate?
With no mate to call his own, Darcy's restaurant is his only pride and joy. But that doesn't stop his dragon soul from acting possessive over a certain favorite server. Yet as much as Darcy craves it, he can't sweep Samson off his feet. He's an employee: AKA, off-limits.
But when trouble comes for Samson, Darcy saves him—just like he did five years ago. And this time, he can't hold his true feelings back anymore.

3.5 Stars rounded up to 4 What a truly fun piece of fluff this story was! It has a dash of romance, another of sweetness, a tiny bit of suspense with a big helping of sweet sexiness. All together it is pure fun!

This was a cute little read! Having read Ulysses’ story, I wanted to know about Darcy and his fated mate. I was surprised there was this five year interaction without realizing it, but I did understand the perspective of a power imbalance and not wanting to cross those boundaries. Especially in the way they met? It’s more thought than most romance books put into context of power dynamics, anyway.
This wasn’t as magical for me though. I liked both Darcy and Samson, but I guess I just wished they spent more time on page together with the short amount of pages there was. Still, cute and fluffy.
A dragon and his fated mate walk into a restaurant...
I am in love with the Fairytale Mates series. This book is no exception. Though short, this book has it all: an arranged marriage, a compassionate, clueless dragon, his sexy human mate. Problem... boss & employee. It takes a threat to Samson to wake Darcy's dragon to the fact they are fated mates. Once they give in, the sexy times are hotter than dragonfire. I wanted the story to continue, it was that good. You will love this book! Get. It. Now!
This turned a very wonderful addition to the Fairytale Mates series. and it was finally Darcy the Dragon's turn to find his mate. Can you imagine waiting for something all your life only to discover it was right underneath your nose all along. Darcy always scoffed when his friends' mates turned out to be Human. Well I wonder how he feels now? Darcy was the perfect mate for the scared little Human Sammy. Even though he thought he'd never have anything the Dragon wanted...turns out they both were wrong. This is a short delightful tale that's sweet, possessive, and satisfying.
Was an ok read. I was looking forward to this one since reading the first book. I'm still not sure how Darcy didn't know that Samson was his fated mate after 5 years so that was a little annoying. And slight spoiler, but when Samson was confronted by Connor in the alley he seemed to think his only options were to approach the large scary guy or go home. I'm sure he could have gone in through the front of the restaurant and explained the situation to Darcy and things could have been resolved from there. Still think these are nice little reads between other books.
I loved The Dragon Dance by Hawke Oakley. It's the eighth book in the Fairytale Mates series. I loved Sammy and Darcy. I loved how possessive Darcy was of Sammy but how he would do anything to make him happy, like allowing him to continue working after finding out he was pregnant, when Darcy would have preferred him to stay at home and take it easy. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I read this book using the Kindle unlimited program.
A dragon offers a human omega a job and a home without realizing the human is his mate. Five years later, our dragon is having a hard time keeping his hands off his omega. And is only cluing in now that the omega is his fated mate. A cute story. It offers a slow burn (well five years!!!) and then wham. Our omega is in loooove. And so is the alpha. A little angst. A little "oh he can't be into me. I'm not worthy". Lots of fun.
Darcy is a dragon alpha. Sammy a human omega. Sammy has been working for Darcy for 5 years. Sammy has been crushing on his boss from afar since the beginning. Feeling ignite when Darcy figures out Sammy is his Fated Mate. Heat explodes, stolen kisses and steamy scenes make this book one of my favorites.
I loved the storyline, yet felt there should be more to a mpreg story. The last 3 books 📚 had no babies only the fact that they were mpreg. All the mpreg I've ever read the baby was born so you'd know if it was human, or paranormal animal they were mates with. The ending seemed to be cut ✂️ off.
. . . É uma leitura F(. . .), desculpe pela palavra, eu amei 🖤. . . Amei! . . Boa Leitura 😘
Samson has loved his boss Darcy for the last five years. Dragon-shifter Darcy has always felt protective of this young human who works as a server in his restaurant. Enjoy how Samson and Darcy meet, face a crisis, and revel in each other after full disclosure!!!
I was annoyed with the characters, I felt like it was built up for nothing and it drove me up the wall if anything this should have been the second book so I didn't have such high expectations. It was bad compared to the others and I regret reading it.
Samson gets rescued by Darcy not once but twice. The first was five years before then one evening going work this guy his parents tried force him to marry shows up to drag him off and Darcy comes in all his dragon glory before stopping the guy from taking Samson.
That's only real drama in this the rest is cute and self pinning until they admit their feelings. Its same formula as the other books. I was disappointed that the baby wasn't born or rather egg laid in this book. Was cute and sex was hot like always.
Sammy got a job at Darcy’s restaurant when he left his home sue to his ashole parents trying to force him to marry a creep. It was cute but bcuz of the short length, i felt all over the story was a bit lacking. i loved both Sammy and Darcy, they were cute together.
●This wasn't insta love exactly since they had met 5 years ago and in the flashback there was just one man trying to save a homeless boy. So it was building up for 5 years but after they got to it, everything was sped up which i liked!
●Awww they go out on a “not date” date!!
●i loved how Sammy wanted an emotional connection and not just a hookup. So for him, it was already a serious thing and Darcy delivered.
●This has only 1 sex at around 75% mark. i love books like this becuz the sex never fails! Esp Hawke’s books cuz he can really write it well!! Both were very responsive and oh so intimate.
i had some issues with it:
♦idk why but this time in this book, Darcy's pov repeats the whole entire convo and situation from the beginning. There was no need repeating it all esp since this is such a short book.
♦I also wanted to install security cameras at Sammy's apartment
i don't get it. This is the epilogue, and Sammy is pregnant. Then why on earth is he still insisting on living in his apartment? How had they still not negotiated the terms of their relationship yet?? They say they've decided Sammy will still live in his apartment. Huh??
♦Also, we never get anything else apart from Sammy becoming pregnant. The story just ends there with them expecting. Bummer.
♦Of course the evil guy who wants to marry Sammy show up and try to force himself on him. But Darcy saves the day.
Tropes & tags: •Human omega x Dragon shifter alpha, •restaurant owner x server (employee), •minor angst, •mpreg (only mentioned in epilogue), •1st person dual pov, •no cheating, •no breakup.
The Dragon Dance simmers with longing and forbidden attraction, making every moment between Samson and Darcy feel electric. Samson’s unspoken feelings for his boss create a delicious tension, and Darcy’s internal struggle to maintain boundaries adds emotional complexity. Their eventual surrender to fate is as satisfying as it is inevitable, with Darcy’s protectiveness and Samson’s quiet strength creating a balanced, heartfelt romance. The added layer of gratitude and unspoken debts makes their bond feel even deeper, culminating in a heartwarming HEA that feels richly deserved.
