Having discovered his own essence, Rob needs to leave his home behind to understand what it means for him to be different from the others of his village. If he can survive the journey, the dragon queen may have the answers.
When a deadly attack nearly destroys his new essence, Rob and his friends are forced to travel toward the dangerous borderlands for healing.
What they uncover is a source of essence that might change everything for the kingdom—or destroy it.
Dragon Skin is book 2 in an exciting new progression fantasy series!
Started well. Was entertaining. But then as many do, devolved into no action, ceaseless introspection and just a "holding pattern " of "what's my power? How do I advance? No advance of the story line. Nobody knows anything. Blaa." It just lost me and I got tired of reading essentially the same stuff over and over!
These was a 2.5-ish more than a three, I lived/read through that constant bickering between Griffin and Serena, Rob was there just like a broken wheel, just loitering around 2/3 of the story, almost DNF'ed this whole series, thank you Book Gods for that last three chapters(Honestly, those last three chapters, they made this reading experience from insufferable to mildly ho-hum)..........
At least, we are starting to go somewhere, which should have been from the mid part, not that constant yammering......still having a hard time to truly process this latest progression but no deity manipulation(so far) is always a good, good start, just a really ingenious way of thinking
On to Dragon Yammering......I meant Dragon Touched......on the tongue.......
Sadly, this has all the signs of being thrown together and rushed to publish. There are typos, missing words, misplaced punctuation galore. What is even more distressing are the repetitions - words, phrases, character introspection. What a shame, since the world creation and magic system is interesting and could lay the foundation for a treat of a book.
A good series fast paced and entertaining. However you need to get a new proof reader as the amount of missing words, wrong words, half words and grammatical errors is shocking for a published book. Hence only three stars.
Could if been great mean got interesting magic system world sounds good too. I'll try keep this short so hear we go dear readers....
Weird why do they never seem to eat, drink offer then essence, wash or change clothes man they must be very stinky and clothes on last legs.??? I didn't think these mattered much until got story wear they never seem do and not like Said don't need to do these anymore or anything so it's just feels odd. (But on good note at least not over done like some do when pages and pages of just that.) Shame as can be used to show Culter and differences when done well.
Then Griffin in this seem off wear in book 1 he seemed be wise strong mentor who is experienced, in this book spent lot of time arguing & undermining what Serena said to point just made him seem juvenile moaner mean she is a teen and he is supposed be wise older man with experience. Then got whole parts in book that was difficult to follow for instance ending wear mc running through ruins/mine? Was hard to know what happening and didn't make much sense mean one part following Serena to catch up with her then in front of her .?? Anyway.
We got introduced to new clans and bit of what can do but not described very well at least to me, Stone seem only can do one think grab and crush people, sand creat sandstorm? And mud no idea.?? And on a great not he is no longer using Bow or doing cringe blowing on arrows so yeah and thanks for that improvement.
And when mc made dragon skin had be told as could not tell would of been good if said something like looked at skin and it looked.??
I like the storyline but the grammatical errors really hurt it.
I am going to start with saying I really like the idea of this book. I feel like it would have been 5 stars if it were not for all of the missing words in sentences or added words. I even found extra periods in places they should not be. I would only claim to read at a mature YA level. I enjoy reading books that feel like a movie playing in my head. I finished the first book and thought maybe the grammar would get better so I purchased the whole series. After reading the 2nd book.... It got worse. Now, I still feel like it's a good idea and will read book 3 and hope it gets better because I really want to see where the story goes. I just wish they hired someone to edit the book before publishing it.
This was something with the way the first book ended, that made me intrigued on how the series would continue. And I am glad that I did. From the start the story was very intriguing from the start. The main character and his friends had a lot of challenges throughout the book. They seemed to manage to get through the challenges where they get to find this information out. The characters developed nicely throughout the book .With how the book ended I am intrigued on how the series will continue.
It's slow. This story has a pattern to it. Everything is repeated 3 or four times in every other page, however differently it was worded it still meant the same thing. The progression is slow, like the author's didn't know where to ske the story and how to conclude it so that people will still be interested in reading the next book. I am getting bored, not much of a story so far. It's just a slow progression, no longer interesting to me. I will read the 3rd one if it goes the same way, I will quit this storyline.
This continuation of the story flows similarly as the first. Long build up of questions yet unanswered and new ones to be added to the list. Over half the story to get some reveal but even unto the end, no real answers. Only more questions. The plot is good and the concepts within are nicely pushed and developed. Like binge watching a good fantasy show, you eagerly look to the culmination of the current episode and the truths and reveals of the next.
It's all about the essence man! Rob is trying hard to figure out what it means. Serena promises: “I can guarantee that if you were to come with me, you would have a better chance of learning about your essence.”
When he follows Serena in her adventure: “He was headed beyond everything he had ever known.”
Griffin provides him with some insight: “but I want you to appreciate just how unique it is.”
Rob is slowly evolving his Dragon, this story fills in the details on his early travels.
I chose the second book because I was beginning to understand what was going on. Boy, am I glad I did. There are still questions, of course, but I am beginning to see where the story is going now. I will be very glad when the next book comes out. The story is getting meaty now, and I want to see where the author goes with this storyline. Keep 'em coming, guys!
I really enjoyed the first book which seemed from memory well put together. Unfortunately this time there were a lot of errors, also the characters were inconsistent in their position during dialogue which in itself rambled on quite a bit and repeated itself. I'm persisting with the books but these could be much better if someone gave them a read and helped the author with the issues. Good ideas and concepts and the base story is enjoyable
I am really enjoying the series. The plot is interesting and unlike anything else I have read. I would give it 5 stars if it were better proofread. There are so many errors. There are words left out in some places and words added in others, making the sentence make no sense at all. When I find errors while reading I usually submit corrections, but this has so many it would be hours of effort I'm not willing to commit to.
This is a good book with a good storyline but be prepared to work for it. There is some action amid all the descriptions that go over and over the same issues.
Ultimately, I managed to get to the end without skipping too much.
I would still recommend this book and I will be reading the next one.
Rob is following Serena and Griffith to get to Serena’s mother to find out about his essence. He did not expect what happens and how his essence is evolving. He now is going with Serena and the dragon mind for another adventure. I was so into the story that I finished it in two days. The two books have been very exciting
This is still exciting and with new Adventures . Im wondering how I can make each book in the series last so I can go directly to #6 when it is available end of September. Since this was just Book 2 I might just be able to squeeze it out to last! Doubtful tho, as its hard to stop reading!
This book is a fun quick read, and I would have given it a five, but there are many sentence structure or grammatical mistakes that take away from the flow of the story line. Looking forward to the next book to see how the story and ideas progress.
Congratulations to D.K. Holmberg and Dan Michaelson for this amazing series. Ibt’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book!
I stopped reading during the first book, I really do not know what to say honestly, I’m so mad at the author lol cause the story was great but writing was so bad and boring steam literally was coming out of my head, I thought I found another great series like Cradle, boy was I disappointed, my heart broke 🥹……SKIP!
Just waiting for my real dragons to appear. I’m waiting. Maybe in the next book. There’s a lot of repetition in the writing, which I don’t appreciate, but the action is quite good and the characters are very well defined. It’s a different way of looking at dragons. Read it. Don’t know if I can get through 12 books, but I will try.
This story as mystery, action and adventure. I am still learning about this strange world and what are all the different races. It has me hooked. I am. Looking forward to the next book.
Too much continued repeats of the same stuff of essence. The characters aren't seeming to really evolve. Seems to be more of a young adult. They also never need to eat.
The story continued and kept me hooked...the only annoying part of the book are the odd typos bits of sentences with odd words that don't make sense, but they didn't detract from the story and I can't wait to read the next installment
Rob, seems to find his by stumbling through things. He always has his heart set on help everyone else, he seems to always push caution for himself of the window. Book is full of action and adventure.
Once again splattered with typographical errors making it difficult to read, but does have less than the previous installment of this series. Story fails to have the fluidity it so desperately needs.
I like the storyline overall even if it is a bit transparent and repetitive. There are quite a few errors though, missing words and such. Still going to read the rest of the series though.
What he gets as much more than he bargained for or he could have dreamed of . Now he is on a quest with the dragon Queen's daughter. They come upon a large Gathering of three other secs. Where are they going & why.
