Take a trip to Compass Cove, an enchanted town full of magic and mayhem…
After a troublesome first month in Compass Cove Zora Wick is finally getting into a groove when the town goes into frenzy mode. There’s a Bread Fair on the calendar, and the locals take their dough very seriously. There’s a competition on the cards and prize money at stake, and apparently, it’s worth killing over.
If that wasn’t enough to handle a new bread shop has opened in town, a voodoo-inspired bakery operated by a mysterious witch who is dabbling in dark magic or just very good at pretending. Her shop is full of rotting food and disturbing symbols, but the humans of Compass Cove are lapping it up, and lines are forming around the block. Zora’s convinced there’s more there than meets the eye.
Zora also has to find a moment to wade through an awful morning of interviews for a bakery assistant, try and figure out why she saw her missing mother hiding in her bathroom mirror, and keep her boneheaded guardians from killing each other—if they don’t get killed by a troublesome magical pest first.
On top of that one of Zora’s friends has fallen into trouble with sirens, a dark and brooding group of creatures that inhabit Compass Cove lake. Can she give the merfolk what they want without losing her friend? There’s also a rather annoying wand insurance salesman that won’t stop following her around… Zora might be pushed to murder herself if he doesn’t let up.
Tensions and dough are rising, and it seems like everyone in town has something to prove. There’s no loafing around for Zora, she’ll have to go against the grain and catch a killer before her plans go a-rye.

Zora Wick had inherited her deceased aunt’s bakery and moved to Compass Cove. She had a rough beginning with lots of adventure, but she is finally settling in. Then a bread competition gets hot and heavy, ending in a murder.
A new bread shop opened with a voodoo-inspired bakery using dark magic. With the shop full of rotting food and disturbing symbols, people should run in the opposite direction! But the residents instead are forming lines to get in there! Zora knows something else is going on, but what?
With other odd happenings involving sirens in the Compass Cove lake, can Zora help out her friend? And why won’t the annoying wand insurance salesman stop following her around? Why can’t things ever quiet down in this town? Will she finally get a chance to figure out who the killer is and if anyone else is in danger?
Between a rival bread shop, a bread competition, and a murder, our heroine has her hands full. She really doesn't kneed any more trouble than that.
This is book three of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
This is a cozy witch mystery with a bakery as the centerpiece. The story is well written, easy to read with a great setting filled with mystery and intrigue. The mystery is good, with enough twists to it to keep you going up until the end. We get to meet some new characters which is always fun. I loved the zany bits throughout the story. Overall, another very fun read and I look forward to more in this series.
Highly recommended. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.

This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone! One note to author: Have someone proof read better, there are several mistakes. Example: one place if you read the line there is "be" instead of "me". I don't usually bring this to attention unless there are several errors trough out the book. One or two is OK to me. I have not found many books that don't have some errors. Great Reading!
Love the series, the characters and everything, but I wish the author would get proofreading and spellchecking done before hitting the publish button. This time I figured out the murderer as soon as we met them, which took away a bit of mystery, but thankfully the Sirens side story kept me reading. Still, a nice cosy mystery to while away a few hours with.
Zora seems to be getting closer to her two hot bodyguards and is having several very interesting adventures. I can't wait for the next book and also want to thank the author, Mara, for getting better editing. There were far fewer typos than before and what was there were much less annoying and intrusive.
Each book in this series e progressively gotten better. This is a very nice cozy paranormal mystery series. The snarky humor reminds me of Amanda Lee's writing. The characters are quirky and at times, rather charming. The books are well written and have been well edited. I highly recommend the series.
The characters are all a bit two dimensional and the mystery was easy to solve early on, but the plot was enjoyable. Unfortunately, for me, the editor didn't edit a thing. I'm guessing spell check was heavily relied upon. A few mistakes aren't a big deal, but the text is riddled with errors.
This was so good! There was a mean judge of a bread contest that everyone thought was perfect, a Voodoo lady, Sirens, a werewolf, and mind wipes! Talk about being on the edge of my seat! It was so good!
Could not put my book down, kept zoning out and getting totally lost in the three books. Is there going to be another I cannot wait, 😭 i need my compass cove cozy mystery 😫
You need a better proof reader. There are many misused and misspelled words. If you are hoping to be seen as a professional writer, those mistakes will work against you. Editors notice ! The story line is somewhat silly, but comic relief is always welcome.
I’m really enjoying reading this series, the main character Zora, is a new witch in a new town with two handsome guardians. Very enjoyable read and look forward to next one.
