Sweet Home, Oregon, is a small town, but it sure has its share of murders. This time, it’s JJ. He had come to town to disappear, but left Spot, one of the town bars, with a target on his back.

I love Lacey. I don’t know how she does all she does. She is giving, loyal, dedicated. I smile with her, but still do not understand her home life. I have had no use for Caleb since I have really got to know him. What did he think was going to happen when he came home to stay? I am suspicious. Is there more to his story? I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him. To me, he’s like a weight around her neck and I think she will be better off without him. HA HA Maybe….well, that is for another day.

I love the interaction, the dialogue and smiles, between Lacey and her partner, Eli. It’s obvious how much he cares for her, but never steps across the line and I have mucho respect for an author keeping her characters of importance on the up and up.

Knowing Chris Patchell, I find it hard to believe that a bar fight was the reason for JJ’s death. It’s too easy. The suspects are mounting as are questions and alibis. In my mind I have ruled out one, but ya never know. Secrets make for suspects.

Lacey is cracking me up again. She takes no guff, so it surprises me how she handles Caleb with kid gloves. I get it, but letting guilt over working…isn’t that what happens in real life all too often. She does the best she can and I don’t see her kids having a problem with it. I love sharing her trials and tribulations with her, supporting her, hoping she will get what she deserves, a HEA. She has earned it!

Tell Her by Chris Patchell is more about Lacey’s personal life and the town’s secrets, than the crime and I am fine with that. It keeps me hungry for more and I am so excited for Hide Her by Chris Patchell.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Tell Her by Chris Patchell.

I'm loving this series!

Lacey is a fantastic main character. She's strong, independent, and despite the bumps in her personal life, she's drama-free. Given the number of awful female characters I've come across lately, I was especially thankful to spend time with Lacey.

Chris Patchell wove a complex, fascinating mystery that kept me on edge throughout.

This is book 3 in the Lacey James series. I think it works fine as a stand alone, though you'll get a better sense of Lacey's life and personality if you start with book 1. They're quick reads and really good, so why not read them all?

I'm excited to read book 4!

Tell Her book #3 of the Lacey James Series, jumps right back into life in small town Oregon and Washington State, Detective Lacey James and her new partner Eli Davidson a faced with a rarety in their little community, the brutal murder of a young man, a resident for only a few months in Sweet Home, OR. Piecing together what they can of his history Lacey and Eli set into motion of series of events that seem much too big-city for their neck of the woods. Again, an excellent police procedural told very well. I am really enjoying this look into small-town Oregon and the descriptions of the flora and fauna, the reality of life in a small community, and the checks and balances of that lifestyle awake my nostalgia for an earlier time and place.

What the heck????? I am so glad there is another book coming. Lacey and her partner Eli are investigating a murder of JJ, nice guy everyone says. There are so many twists, turns and subplots but your not lost, you can follow the thread of them all. Nice job to author Chris Patchell. What we find out about Eli's family is so frigging relate able to many of us. There is also the heart breaking reality that occurs today in schools, the heart breaking reality of law enforcement's home lives suffering. I am sorry but I haven't liked Caleb, from book 1 and now......pfft. How about that other little surprise. Oh man, where oh where are we headed, and I really, really, really think there should be 2 or 3 more books coming. Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

Immersive mystery; even better than the previous books!

Audiobook version: 3 stars overall, 3 stars story, 3 stars narration

Chris Patchell has delivered another vivid, gripping mystery/thriller in the brilliant Lacey James series. I recommend listening to the books in order. From the very first minute, I was immersed in the town of Sweet Home, Oregon, and the fascinating murder case. The readers get the details of the police procedural and the nail-biting case while getting to know Lacey and her partner Eli. Lacey is dealing with marriage problems while she and her co-workers try to solve the case. I love the thrilling moments as well as the character development of Lacey, who is a likeable, capable, intelligent woman. This is a wonderful audiobook that I highly recommend to all mystery/thriller fans. There is some violence, but bad language and bloodiness are minimal.
The pair of narrators gave perfect performances. Nathan Agin narrates the first chapter or two from the perspective of the male victim, and Cassandra Metcalf narrates the remaining chapters from the perspective of Lacey. Ms. Metcalf’s voice completely brings Lacey to life in my mind, and she is also extremely accomplished at all the voices of the other characters. Both narrators have excellent pacing and acting ability. I am extremely pleased with the narrators. They elevate the text to another level of excellent entertainment.

Excellent as expected.
This is the third book in the Lacey James series and this series just gets better and better and better.
Officer Lacey James is called to a very brutal murder of Jonathan Jones or known just as JJ who although fairly new to the town was a well liked by all with the opinion in the close-knit community of “Sweet Home” Oregon that “he was a good guy!”
JJ has been shot twice at very close range and looks to be very personal and taking into account hours beforehand he stepped in to save Haley a bar girl from being harassed and abused by a local thug called Jett Bradley and his two friends suspicions and leads soon point to him.

Officer Lacey and her partner Eli Davidson piece together the timelines and reconstructs JJ and Jett’s timelines and leads bring in new facts like the bloody foot prints but things aren’t as the y seem and with more lies and untruths unfold the real motive becomes even more unclear until the investigation suddenly takes another twist that takes the investigation down a a dark and dangerous path.
Neatly interwoven into the investigation Lacey and her husband have their own problems to deal with and you’re drawn into a absorbing and taut read with a real surprising and exciting ending.
An easy written style that just flows yet keeps your interest with a great storyline and just a nice read. Not to be missed.

This is the 3rd instalment of this series and this was as good as the 1st. Sweet Home is a small close community but many of its inhabitants have secrets, secrets they don't want to reveal. Lacey is called out to a murder and as with her job as an officer of the law she works all hours, and her husband has come home to roost after years of working away, but cracks are appearing in her personal life as well as work. Trying to solve a crime when people are lying and keeping her home life in order is not working, but with her partner, she gets there in the end. A good story only a bit I am not sure about is she is splitting with her husband and her cousin is always there to look after the children, does she not work? before her husband came back to Sweet Home her cousin always was there to look after her children, she does not appear to be married always at a loose end I just wish I had a cousin like that only my cousins seemed to have their own lives to live.
I did receive an ARC copy but this is still an honest review.

Talk about keeping a reader on her toes! Tell Her, the 3rd Lacey James mystery, has more twists than you can shake a stick at. Lacey and Eli are on the hunt for a killer, and every possibility seems to uncover another possibility. There is a lot going on in this one, some good and some bad, which is typical of small-town life - kind of a it's boring and ho-hum until it's not type of thing, then everything happens at once. We also see another development or two with Lacey's home life, and to be honest, I'm still not sure how I feel about it all. I'm torn between sad, mad, and surprised, but the ups and downs feel real and relatable. I'll be interested to see where things go for Lacey, and everything I've come to expect from Chris Patchell tells me things will work out as they should. It may not be the way I imagine, but it'll feel right when it happens. I've become thoroughly invested in Lacey and the other characters of Sweet Home, so I'm glad to hear that there is another book coming. I, for one, am not ready to say goodbye to this series.

This latest in the Lacey James series is a real page turner. Lacey and Eli are investigating the murder of a man new in town that everyone says was a good guy. So why was he killed? The investigation runs into roadblocks from the beginning as everyone seems to be lying about something. Just when Lacey and Eli think they have something the author throws in another twist. So many red herrings! In the midst of it all, Lacey has ongoing family problems, but she doesn't let them distract her from her job. Finally with good police work and the help of Lacey's friend Kiera, the case is solved but certainly not in the way I thought it would be. Thanks to Chris Patchell for giving me an advance copy of this twisty thriller. I'm sure glad you have another Lacey James book coming because I love her and Sweet Home.

I'm so glad that Chris Patchell decided to expand these books a little more. The first two were fast paced and the killer was made clear. They were more focused on finding a missing person rather than solving a murder. Tell Her is more focused on a murder case. I really enjoyed following Lacey and Eli on this case and trying to figure it out. After reading so many thrillers, it's typically easy to tell who the killer is but Chris Patchell really did an amazing job on throwing curve balls in there. By keeping it a mystery, it made the story that more intriguing.

Lacey James is such a fantastic protagonist. I really enjoy her narration and following alongside her. Lacey's quips are perfectly timed and it's just so much fun to read. What really threw my off in this book though was her and Caleb's relationship. After Save Her, it seemed like they were really going to work on things but it seemed liked that never happened. I know there was about a 4 month gap in between books but for them to resort back into their snipping ways just made me feel like the progression that happened in Save Here, never happened.

Overall, Tell Her by Chris Patchell was a great entry into the Lacey James series. I really liked how this book was a little longer and there was more mystery. With reading so many thrillers and mystery books, it's always refreshing on not know who the killer is. I thought the story progressed very well and enjoyed it immensely. The only thing that threw me off in this book was Lacey and Caleb's relationship. At the end of Save Her, it seemed like things were going to get better but it felt like that never happened. If you enjoyed the first two books then I'd recommend continuing with this one.

Hi. I'm here to say that I'll typically only do thrillers/mysteries on audiobook and Cassandra Medcalf is such an amazing Lacey. Pick it up please :)

Tell Her
The Lacey James Series, Book 3
By: Chris Patchell
Narrated by: Cassandra Medcalf, Nathan Agin

Lacey James is quite a detective. In the small town of Sweet Home, Oregon, there is a lot going on and the latest case is the murder of JJ. Lacey is on the job with her partner Eli, leaving the home duties to her husband Caleb. The case is full of questions, with the most unusual of suspects. Will Lacey and Eli find the killer? Will the reason JJ was targeted come to light? What will happen to Caleb and Lacey? Chris Patchell continues the suspense filled mysteries with Lacey at the helm, as we get to know the people of the town, with it's deceit, betrayals and loves. Lacey has a lot to deal with, from work to home and she is left to figure out just what she will do next. This one is a fun whodunnit with a mix of real life. Loved it!

Nathan Agin plays JJ, and he is fabulous. Though short, his performance is powerful and left me loving JJ. Cassandra Medcalf continues her narration as Lacey. She is amazing, pulling out the pain Lacey is having at home and the bravery and cunning she has a detective. I enjoy her interpretation of the story and always look forward to the next one.

Wow!

What a ride in this Chris Patchell mystery. I am stretching my budget getting her books with the audio narration. I can't read fast enough and I want to know what is happening right now so I add audible! 'Tell Her' is amazing with these characters JJ, Harley, and Riley. I really like Eli and hope to see more of him. The action just never stops and there is nothing like a female throwing produce. I laughed until my sides hurt. The author's sense of humor was an added bonus. I never envisioned the several twists Ms. Patchell would have in store in this book, especially the last bomb shells. What will we all do after the next book? Write faster, Chris, the next one can't be the last.

Another great story from this series. Every new book I feel like its the first time. The author does by a great job hooking us back up with Lacey, her family and her partner. Then introducing new characters to learn about which usually bring about the murder or missing person.

The characters are written well. Its an easy story to listen to and while it is shorter it is not missing anything that a longer one has. The path that Lacey takes to figure out “who did it” is always a joy to follow. I can never guess on these stories and this one is no exception.

I did listen to this on audio. The narration is well done and easy to listen to.

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Wonderfully narrated by Cass Medcalf and Nathan Agin, comes an amazing that at first glance feels like an ordinary, run of the mill murder mystery with the unexpected death of JJ in Sweet Home. Everyone thought they know this mean and when all the clues points to a certain person, officer Lacey James and her colleagues feel they've solved the case. Until a devastating twist throws the seemingly "closed" case wide open, taking the murder into a haunting new direction. The murder of JJ is much more complicated as the tragic truth has left a long dark shadow upon those involved. Highly recommended.

I love how Chris Patchell develops this murder mystery. Just when I think I know who the murderer is, BAM the story goes in another direction.
Lacey has enough on her plate with the murder investigation,. Her home life is in turmoil as she and Caleb are drifting apart..This kept me on my toes with all the twists and turns. well done.
Cassandra Medcalf and Nathan Agin narration is very good. I enjoyed the different personalities and voices they portrayed.

Loved the narration of Cassandra Medcalf and Nathan Agin. Perfect, bringing the characters and action to life.

We start with a very brutal murder of Jonathan Jones or known just as JJ who although fairly new to the town was a well liked by all.
Lacey and Eli are on the hunt for the killer, and every possibility seems to uncover another possibility. There are many twists and turns along the way as they try to sort out what is right and wrong. Caleb ohh not happy with him.

The third book of the series in much better than the previous two. Finally - a true mystery. I was intrigued and engaged in the story.
The relationship between the detective and her husband hit too close to (my) home, and broke my heart.
The narrators did a good job narrating this book.

I listened to the audiobook and I was hooked to this quick listen. Lacey James is always in the middle of a mystery and the action. This one was no different but had lots of twist and turns as Lacey tried to figure out the who and why behind the crime she was investigating. I recommend this series but I'd suggest starting at the beginning.

Negative: These Lacey James books follow a pattern of Lisa gets into a dangerous situation… the situation gets more dire… then the situation gets even worse.

Positive: I appreciate that the author isn’t dragging out the marital difficulties of Lacey and Caleb; the marital unhappiness was a significant factor in books one and two, but there does seem to be some resolution in book 3.

Lacey James is a kick ass woman but she also has her sensitive side. In this installment she has a lot going on between work and family her plate is over flowing. If you like a strong female character who is complex and compassionate this series is for you.

Tell Her by Chris Patchell is the very best of the three entries in the Lacy James Mystery Series. Each book can be read as a stand alone but you miss out on the character growth by not reading the previous two. As is usual in one of Ms. Patchell's books there are plenty of twists to keep you guessing and trying to solve the mystery.

I have enjoyed every one of Ms. Patchell's books and always look forward to the next one. I never feel one of her books was a waste of my time. I have always found a book by Chris Patchell well worth reading.

I did receive an ARC of Tell Her which in no way influences my opinion voluntarily given in this review.

Just right for a relaxing one day read. Just enough mystery, with a few twisted twists. The outcome was an unexpected surprise with a motive that backfired.
