In a moment of passion, Samantha throws caution to the wind, realizes her fondest dream, and conceives a lie that will be her biggest obstacle to finding true love.

After one secret night together, Ben Dearborn, the boy next door who Sam’s always loved left town, leaving Sam pregnant and alone. As the years pass, she creates a new life for her and her son, working for the Dearborn family jewelry business. Now, she receives a scholarship, and an opportunity to realize her dreams outside of Granite Falls.

Before she goes, tragedy strikes the Dearborn family, bringing Ben back home.

Six years ago, after finding his brother in bed with his fiancée, Robin, Ben left Granite Falls and built a successful advertising career across the country. After a car crash kills his brother and lands his father in the hospital, his mother needs his help. He returns, only to discover his brother’s death wasn’t an accident and the family business is in trouble.

Against Sam’s better judgment, she helps Ben learn about the Dearborn family business. The Dearborns have done so much for her over the years, she wants to help them. As she and Ben get closer, she can no longer keep her secret, and tells Ben the truth—he’s Jamie’s father.

Ben doesn’t remember their night together. He was in a bad place after finding his brother and Robin together. How can he be a father in Granite Falls? He has a career waiting for him across the country. In a panic, he returns to California only to discover how empty his life is. He realizes he wants more than a career, he wants a family. He leaves his job and returns to Granite Falls, hoping Sam will forgive him, but Sam is missing.

Someone is willing to kill to cover their tracks. In his search for Sam, Ben digs into who may have killed his brother, and has been stealing from the family business. He has been given a second chance to make things right for his family, and for Sam. Will he take it, or will fear shatter his dreams? Only by working together and trusting in one another can these two discover who the killer is, before he strikes again, and find the happily ever after they’ve both been longing for.

Finding Home is book three in the Granite Falls series by Cynthia Cooke. I first came in to this series with book four and had read all the books from that point on. I FINALLY decided to go back and read the first three books and am so glad I did.

Samantha Carlyle is about twenty four years old. She works for Dearborn Jewelers and the family that owns the jewelry store is like a second family to her. She has lived next door to them all her life. Now she is still living in the same house with her five year old son after her mom moved to a house in town. After finishing local community college, Sam has received a scholarship to finish the degree she has always dreamed of but it will require she and her son Jamie to move about four hours away.

Sam has known the Dearborns all her life but it was the eldest son, Ben, who was two years older than she is, that she has always loved. Six years ago, when he caught his brother in bed with his then fiance, he got very drunk and spent one night with Sam. Then the next morning, with no memory of what he had done, he left town and started a new life in California, never planning to return.

Tragedy has struck the Dearborn family putting Ben’s father in the hospital and ending the life of his younger brother which brings Ben back home to help his mother with the family business. There has been discrepancies lately in the bookkeeping and business has been falling off. They need Ben to get to the bottom of whatever is going on. Ben has every intention of doing what he needs to do and returning to his life in California. But reuniting with the sweet girl, now a woman, from next door changes everything.

There have been so many secrets and it takes a tragedy for the secrets to finally be revealed. Sam’s feelings for Ben have never faded and finally, Ben sees what was there all along with Sam. A connection that can’t be ignored. And a son whose life he wants to be a part of. This was such a good book in addition to the added suspense. I really have loved every book in this series, even though I did read them out of order.

From the opening pages of this novel, I was drawn into the action, drama, and suspense as Sam comes upon the accident that killed one of her dearest friends and severely injured another. Reaching for a cell phone to call 9-1-1, she makes a further astounding discovery that leaves her reeling. However, with Bobby's death and funeral, an even bigger disaster looms on the horizon as Ben Dearborn returns for his brother's funeral and his unconscious father. Sam is hiding her own secrets and has no idea how Ben will take the news, should he discover the truth. Based on their previous history, Sam does not expect him to stick around for very long, but when circumstances force Ben to reconsider his future, the truth eventually comes out. Although it quickly becomes obvious who is behind the problems the Dearborns are experiencing, tension escalates when Sam's life is threatened. Although this novel is a standalone and comes to a good conclusion, I was not altogether sure whether justice had been served. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. this is my honest review.

I loved this sweet romance! The emotional roller coaster kept me reading until the end. Sam has a longtime secret. Her 5-year-old son's dad doesn't even know he is a father. It makes for an intense story, especially when Sam's neighbor Ben comes back home after a family tragedy: A suspenseful story that gets even more twisted when there's murder and diamonds in the mix. Thanks to eBook Discovery for the complimentary book to read and review. I highly recommend this story, "Finding Home". I can't wait to read more in the series.
