Getting ready for book 3. Twisty, deep, frustrating, annoying, and romantic.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you love an author who can write about insane chemistry between her characters and dial the heat and passion up to crazy heights, then Jones is the author you have been looking for.
There are several things that Jones does so incredibly well in her stories which got me addicted to her books long ago. First, her characters are intense. They are passionate and all-consuming, especially the male leads. OMG!
Second, the levels of passion and heat are evident from the first pages of the book. The intensity rolls off the pages and completes the story like no other author can.
Third, the plot is compelling and intense with layers of interest and complexity building with each page.
Sweet Sinner is a quick read but it is loaded with the developing passion and connection the characters need to fulfill the rest of the trilogy. Issues to overcome and ties to bind them together for the wild ending I am sure is coming! It is twisty, deep, frustrating, annoying, and romantic, all wrapped up with a cliffy at the end!
Bring on book three!
ABOUT BASTARD BOSS
A sexy, dirty talking alpha. The beautiful, sweet, and fiery Bella. Her boss. A contract that forces him to marry. An arrangement that will change them forever. Meet Tyler Hawk...
Tyler Hawk is a man with secrets and a dark past. A man who has known tragedy and betrayal. He wants for little, but what he wants is more power, a legacy that is his own, and not his father's. There are obstacles in his way, one of which is the scandal his father left behind and a will with certain demands.
Behind the scenes he is a man on edge, and only one woman sees the truth hidden beneath his strong will and dominant rule. Bella is somehow demanding and submissive, fiery and yet sweet. She can give him everything he wants, she just doesn't know it, not yet, but she will. If she'll just say yes and sign on the dotted line.
READ AN EXCERPT
“You’re going to have to share your room with me, sweetheart,” he says, and he doesn’t allow me time to object or even savor that endearment, not that objection is on my mind. I’m thinking of nothing but his mouth and hands on my body and this time, mine on his.
He opens the door and enters the room, maneuvering me along with him. The door slams shut behind us, and he’s already kissing me again. This time when his fingers find my hair, he gives the long strands an erotic tug and drags my gaze to his. “Control in all things, Bella. It’s who I am. It’s what I need, not a want.”
“And as you remember,” I say, my fingers curling on his chest, “I don’t like what I can’t control, which I guess actually means I like control, too.”
“And you have it with me,” he promises. “Always. All you have to say is no, and we find what feels like a yes to you. You asked if I trust you. I’m asking you now, if you trust me.”
I consider the complexity of the question. Do I trust him to listen when I say no? Yes. Do I trust him not to break my heart? I’m pretty sure that’s signed, sealed, and delivered, so, no. Do I trust him to make tonight all about pleasure? The kind of pleasure I’ll remember long after he is married off to his future fiancée. Yes. That’s a brutal yes because of where this is headed, which is nowhere but right here, right now, but one I can’t walk away from, either. “Yes,” I say. “I trust you.”
“I don’t think you do, Bella,” he murmurs, and the way he uses my name—it’s as if he wants me to know I’m not just sex to him. Or maybe I just want to believe that—even need to believe that—to be here with him, to be this intimate with him. Because I’m still me. I’m still not the “sex is sex” kind of girl, even if he aspires to change that in me. “But I want you to trust me so damn badly it’s insane,” he adds roughly, an edge of frustration in him, as if this statement somehow contradicts the control he so values.
It shakes me just how much I’m pleased that I’ve tormented him in some way, as if it’s selfish of me. I know this, but Lord also knows I’m tormented over this marriage agreement he’s obviously accepted. And if I think too hard about it, I will run. I will leave.
I don’t want to leave.
I press to my toes, desperate for his mouth and body, for that oblivion he’s shown me once that I crave once again.
His grip tightens gently round my hair, the act both arousing and brutal, as he denies me his mouth. “I’m going to make you trust me, Bella,” he declares, and then, thank you Lord, his mouth slants over my mouth, his tongue caressing my tongue. And it’s a toe-curling, deep, drugging kiss that leaves me breathless when his lips part mine. “Undress, baby,” he orders. “I want to watch.”
Book two starts where it left off in the previous book. You will want to read that one before you read this one.
The big question after reading the previous book was will she or won't she? Well, you will have to read this to find out. What got added is, it seems things aren't exactly as Tyler thought. Something is going on and it seems his father is still messing with his life even after death.
I'm very curious about a few things that were hinted at in this book and of course, once again, we have a cliffhanger.
Totally Addictive!
With this author I'm never disappointed. Bastard Boss & Sweet Sinner are the first two books in the Tyler & Bella trilogy and their story is sweet, hot, sexy, tough, tender, passionate, steamy, complicated, addictive and supremely satisfying to me. Reading a book by this talented author is like savoring a delicious cup of decadent hot chocolate which is the best way to stay festive all season long. Overall rating: 4.5 stars! ❣️
Sweet Sinner picks up right where Bastard Boss left off. A deal has been made and things between Bella and Tyler are more complicated than ever. Just as we get some answers, another wrench gets thrown into things. One thing is for sure, Lisa Renee Jones loves to keep her readers guessing and the doozy of a cliffhanger has me desperate to get my hands on the final book in this series.
I absolutely LOVED this story!
It’s pretty evident that Bella has strong feelings towards Tyler and she needs more than what he’s offering. He had to really work at winning her over. There was a time or two I thought for sure he was going to lose his ever loving mind at the situation. It’s been a while since I’ve read a story with this type of angst and I was gobbling every word of it as fast as I could.
There was a bit of repetition throughout the book but it felt to me as though it was moving faster than the previous books in the series and I really liked that. Things were happening. It wasn’t just two people verbally hammering their problems, which is fine too, but this just had a different feel to the way things progressed.
There’s no denying the chemistry between Tyler and Bella is electrifying. They set my kindle on fire, more than once. There’s a bit of drama, some jealousy, and another huge cliffhanger. LRJ is killing me! I need the rest of Tyler and Bella’s story!!!
Quickie review: 3.25 stars. This was still not great. There was too much filler and miscommunication. Too much back and forth, not believing or trusting each other, and unhappiness. There was a lot of themes I'm tired of, especially Tyler's manwhore past being harped on. But I wanted to finish the trilogy so I kept going.
Okay, as I mentioned in my review of book 1, after that ending, starting this second installment was a must. Boy, Lisa Renee Jones did not disappoint.
Tyler's past and the whole situation with his father continued to haunt him and caused issues. At the same time, it brought a lot of things to light. I was intrigued by the suspense behind it all (keeping it spoiler-free) and wanted to figure out what the end game was.
As for the ending...well, book 3 can't get here soon enough!
I loved this book but... one thing frustrated me about it and that was when it was flashing back to something that happened in the past it copied that whole part of the story which was in book 1 that I had already read word for word. now I get why the author would do this because I guess there may have been a gap between most of you reading these books unlike me I get to sit and devour all 3 but... its just a me thing and this is my review so for that I give it just 4 stars.
now! the push and pull between these two makes you kinda wanna knock heads but delayed gratification and the chase I love!
its the kind of book that you want to race to the end or savour and you cannot decide in my case running to book 3.
well worth the read loving Tyler and Bella's story
For most of this book it was the same thing...Bella and Tyler arguing about what Tyler needed to do about the will. With how Tyler explained things to Bella, it wasn't hard to imagine exactly how she felt. It sucked that it took Tyler so long to realized he really loved her and to tell her that. It would have saved so much grief for the two of them. I was a bit surprised that Bella's dad was the one to give her advice on things and how it came about with their frank talk about sex. It was funny to see Bella squirm during the talk.
With how this one ended you know there are all sorts of shenanigans about to happen. Glad that I have the next book ready to go. Heads are going to roll, Tyler will not let these actions go.
I am so in love with Tyler and Belle, oh and her new pup Molly! This series is definitely hard to put down!!
All that Tyler and Molly have to work through, with their feelings, their past and now Tyler’s father’s will, cannot keep them away from each other! Of course, Bella tried to stay away, but fails.
When things finally seem to be working out, things go awry and it ends on a massive cliffhanger!! I need the next book NOW!!!
There’s something about these books that are just addicting! I absolutely love the plot line & love Bella & Tyler! I’m so invested in this will and whether he can find something with an Allen Family Case or what the board members are wanting to meet with him about. Cant wait for the next book!!
My only two negatives are: sometimes things feel rushed & there are numerous grammatical errors.
I wanted to love this one as much as the first book. I am thrilled that it is a trilogy now.
It picks up right after the first one ends. Tyler ends up with the girl, and things are left unanswered with Gavin. The cliffhanger leaves readers wondering what's happening to Bella and if Tyler will keep his company.
Unlike the first book I didn't feel like the plot build up was as well executed. Don't get me wrong, I still love the book but some things seemed really repetitive until she finally agreed to marry Tyler.
It overall felt super rushed towards the end. Things didn't totally come out of left field, but at the same time there was very little build up.
I'd still recommend reading this book though, especially if you are as invested in Bella's and Tyler's love story as I have been.
Bella and Tyler's relationship is a rollercoaster. They push, they pull, they move forward, they move backward. They haven't solidified what they are to each other, but that connection is very real, and deepening with every day they spend with each other.
But they have more to deal with than their evolving relationship, because Tyler's dad is still messing with him with his will. There's something going on with it, with the whole situation, and he especially is trying to figure out what it is. Add that to his relationship and so the poor guy's head is about to explode with everything going on. I'm seriously impatient to find out what will happen with these two and their unresolved relationship status. There's a cliffhanger of course, so now I just have to wait anxiously until Dirty Little Vow is released in August.
SWEET SINNER is the fifth instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult THE NECKLACE SERIES, and the second in Tyler and Bella’s erotic, romantic suspense trilogy. SWEET SINNER is the continuing story of attorneys thirty-four year old Tyler Hawk, and twenty-seven year old Bella Bailey. SWEET SINNER should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of BASTARD BOSS. Bella is Dash Black’s (The Necklace trilogy) half-sister.
NOTE: If you have not read BASTARD BOSS there may be spoilers in. my review.
SOME BACKGROUND: Bella Bailey works as a contract attorney at Hawk Legal but months earlier, Tyler’s father, embittered and embroiled founder Jack Hawk murdered his girlfriend, and lost his own life in the fall-out. Fast forward three months, Tyler Hawk has yet to come to terms with the possible ramifications of what happened and why, when the reading of the will sends Tyler’s life into another unstoppable spiral. Conditions must be met, and if not, Tyler would lose everything he has accomplished including the woman he refuses to love.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Tyler and Bella) SWEET SINNER follows in the wake of the discovery of the contents of Jack Hawk’s will. Tyler has twelve months to act on the terms of his father’s will or life as he knows it will come crashing down, possibly destroying the business in the process. The only woman Tyler wants in his future is our story line heroine Bella Bailey but Bella sees red when Tyler presents a contract for a marriage of convenience, a contract in which Bella believes the wrong message will be perceived. As Bella struggles back and forth between head and heart, Tyler knows Bella is the woman to claim his heart. Meanwhile Tyler’s fellow attorney Gavin McCloud is searching for an appropriate mate for our story line hero, but not all appears to be on the up and up with Gavin’s choices that are about to conflict with Tyler’s needs . What ensues is a series of misunderstandings, and misinterpretations affecting Bella Bailey’s fragile ego, and the continuation of the building but tempestuous relationship between our story line couple.
Bella Bailey is in love with Tyler Hawk but the terms of the will are too much to handle for our story line heroine. Bella believes nothing good will come from a relationship with the man who is currently her boss but Tyler is desperately struggling to keep the business and his head above the proverbial waters.
The relationship between Tyler and Bella a boss/employee, best friend’s sister, forbidden romance but Tyler has fallen in love with his best friend’s (Dash) sister, and needs a fiancé before the proverbial walls come tumbling down. As Bella continues to push Tyler at every opportunity, her mixed signals give way to desperation and hope. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.
All of the same secondary and supporting characters return including Bella’s brother Dash and his fiance Allison Wright, attorney Gavin McCloud, and fixer / ex CIA agent Dierk Jordan, and the introduction of musician Becker Moses.
SWEET SINNER is a story of desperation and love, family and relationships, betrayal, secrets and lies. The fast paced, character driven premise is intriguing and gripping but most of the story focuses on the dance of desperation between Bella and Tyler; the romance is seductive; the characters are frantic and determined. SWEET SINNER ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
Lisa Renee Jones' novel "Sweet Sinner", the second book in the "Tyler & Bella" trilogy, continues the emotional and passionate journey she took the reader on in the first book. The author masterfully heightens the tension and passion as the complicated relationship between the main characters, Bella and Tyler, deepens.
The story picks up directly where the first volume, "Bastard Boss", ended, and the reader is once again captivated by the crazy chemistry between the two main characters. Bella and Tyler's relationship grows more intense as their emotional and physical attraction deepens. But the challenges set by Tyler's father's will continue to test them.
Bella's character is further developed in this episode. We get to know her love for her new puppy from Dash and his fiancée, which adds another dimension to her personality. We also get an insight into the details of her relationship with her father, which brings the reader even closer to Bella. Meanwhile, Tyler reveals a new, sensitive and protective side to him, which adds another layer to his character.
Lisa Renee Jones' writing is once again impressive. Her portrayal of emotion and tension is so authentic and intense that the reader can almost feel the passion simmering between the main characters. The gradual unraveling of mysteries and secrets keeps the interest and excitement alive, making "Sweet Sinner" almost impossible to put down.
This book, like all of her novels, is not only a romantic story, but also a deep and complex drama, full of emotions, secrets and exciting twists and turns. Bella and Tyler's relationship becomes increasingly complicated and the reader can only guess how they will resolve the problems between them.
Overall, "Sweet Sinner" is a fantastic sequel that further deepens the relationship between the main characters and the plot. Lisa Renee Jones once again proves her talent in blending emotion and suspense. I'm excited for the final volume of the trilogy "Dirty Little Vow" to finally give us a full picture of Bella and Tyler's story.
Just when you think that maybe, just maybe we could get through a story by LRJ without throwing your Kindle or book, it just doesn’t happen. I’m not in the least bit surprised. I actually just started to laugh, shook my head, rolled my eyes and said “Oh, Lisa, what did you do?” Then I turned my Kindle off and walked away to digest everything that happened.
Thank God Tyler finally owned up and gave in. That’s what gave me hope even though, in the back of my mind, I kept saying that she is not going to let us be happy about this. I was right. But I thoroughly enjoyed watching him transform from grumpy and arrogant to the man that Bella deserved. He was still driven and arrogant in business and with regards to the Will. But he truly loved Bella even though he fought it so hard. There is really nothing much to say about Bella. She has been fierce and ballsy from the moment we met her. She didn’t change at all. She was still a take-charge woman but a happy one now. She had the love of the man that she was slowly falling n love with for years. Maybe both her professional and personal dreams are really coming true. Until IT happens.
Is their a traitor in their midst? Is there more to the Will than meets the eyes? Where is Bella? What will happen to Hawk Legal? Hopefully all will be answered in Dirty Little Vow.
I really don’t know how much more I could praise the writing of Lisa Renee Jones. I always wait for her next book to come out. Whether it’s the beginning of a series or the grand finale of one, I know, deep down that I will enjoy it, savor it and ultimately give it high praise. I love the flow of her stories and how she builds her characters. Both are usually complex and intriguing. And, nothing is left to the imagination when the fall into bed, or up against the wall. She writes true feelings in her stories and characters to the point that you can feel their pain, worry, happiness and love. In the end, you could always count on her to bring you a happily-ever-after that is swoon-worthy and intense.
Well, first – that’s an awful summary of a book that’s going to bring greatness! We were left at a cliffhanger in the last book where we thought things were going down the right past with Tyler and Bella, and he does what he thinks is right to protect her and it backfires. She’s angry, he can’t fix it and her brother comes in at an inopportune time.
The path that we go on for this next installment is one where we see direction, we see what an outcome needs to be, but we also understand their desires. Feelings and outside forces are what makes it so hard to see a direct path to happiness.
Tyler still finds himself in a the position where he needs to get engaged and married, publicly so that he can keep control over the company and the only woman he wants is Bella. On the other side of things, she doesn’t want to feel like she’s being paid for, she wants the feelings and whatnot to be real, not something fabricated for the purpose of protecting everyone, and she’s afraid of what the perception of her will be professionally if she takes the deal. So they are at an impasse.
There’s interesting things going on though that we don’t quite get to the bottom of. Personally I think that Tyler’s lawyer is up to something, or is connected to someone that’s got their own motivation that’s not Tyler’s best interest, and we will need to see how that plays out.
Additionally, if that story line weren’t enough, we watch things change for Bella and her brother’s career – the studio wants more from them than they originally planned for and now it’s a test to see what they can negotiate and at what cost.
It’s a roller coaster since there’s romance and angst, there’s fear of what’s on the other side of the door for safety and protection and we really don’t know who’s on what side. We’re again left on the precipice of the unknown, but roles and relationships have shifted slightly. Can’t wait to see how It plays out.
Sweet Sinner is book two of three in the Tyler & Bella trilogy. A full-length steamy standalone novel with no cheating and ends on a mind-blowing cliffhanger. A brilliantly written story with complex characters and a twisty storyline that captures the audience attention and keeps you hooked, invested and turning pages and rooting for the characters. The story picks up where it left off at that mind-blowing cliffhanger in Bastard Boss. Tyler father's will is still being a thorn in life just to clear the estate and get company. He continues to screw him from beyond. It's a push and pull when it comes to Tyler and Bella. These two finally come the realization that after all these years that they had love each other and that they're not going to run from their feelings anymore.
The author shed some more light on both characters in this book. Tyler and Bella decided that two head is better than one and as both decided to tackle his father's will to look for loophole on this madness. Tyler and Bella is finally engaged after a long and drawn out pursuit and battle of the wits. Bella wants to maintain a level of professionalism and Tyler wants to be with her. His dad even want to pick who he gets to marry from the grave. Tyler and Bella bedroom scenes are downright smoking hot, erotic, nasty and sinful. He's natural dominant and she naturally submission in bedroom even though she's a powerhouse in boardroom. An addicting and unputdownable read. There's so much more going on and not everything is as it seems. There will be misunderstanding, heartache, insecurities, pain, surprises, hurt, drama, deception, lies, deep dark secrets, hidden agendas, revelations, betrayal, enemies, anger, angst, anger, passion, power, and love more.
In "Sweet Sinner" by Lisa Renee Jone, narrated by the talented Teddy Hamilton and Avery Reid, the story takes a riveting turn, leaving readers thoroughly engrossed. Initially, after completing the first book, I felt a slight lack of enthusiasm. Still, now I am convinced that the trilogy was originally one enthralling, thick novel expertly divided into three parts.
The characters we've come to love are still present, with Taylor, the angsty and determined alpha CEO, and the sweet yet fiery Bella. As "Sweet Sinner" unfolds, we witness the gradual peeling away of Taylor's layers, gaining insight into his true feelings about his father, Bella, and even his personal lawyer, Gavin. Bella remains steadfast in her determination, and we get to appreciate the charm and intellect that make her so successful. The story progresses dynamically, addressing the issues at hand and culminating in two captivating cliffhangers, leaving us eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for both Taylor and Bella.
Teddy Hamilton's narration continues to impress, masterfully bringing to life the angsty, grumpy CEO with unwavering skill. On the other hand, Avery Reid's mature female voice, while captivating, occasionally sounds a tad older than the character's age. Nonetheless, this doesn't detract from the overall captivating performance.
The book's progression is well-paced and keeps readers on their toes, eagerly awaiting the third installment's release. "Sweet Sinner" is a tantalizing romance audiobook that delivers a compelling mix of passion, intrigue, and character development, making it a must-listen for any romance enthusiast. I, for one, cannot wait for the final book to hit the shelves, as I'm fully invested in Taylor and Bella's captivating journey. A definite 4.5-star experience!
And we continue with the "will-they-won't-they" passionate affair of Bella and Tyler.
The story continues right from where we left off in book 1, where Bella is trying to accept the fact that maybe Tyler will never care for her the way she does.
What's more though, is reluctantly Dash and Allie witness this breakdown of Bella where she's hurt emotionally by Tyler and Bella never wanted her brother to know about this.
I loved the fact that even though Bella is affected and hurt, yet she's very clear on the matter to Tyler that she will not let him use her as a mere pawn for his father's schemes.
The will might demand a fake relationship but Bella wanted more and she sticks to it.
The way she goes head to head with Tyler really impressed me and I absolutely loved it. Yet, each encounter is filled with passion filled moments as well as those yearnings for more.
Slowly but surely, things start changing and I loved to witness the way Tyler was feeling things and changing perspectives.
There's also the matter of the will, Tyler's father had designed in a last attempt to make Tyler dance to his whims even after he's gone.
But Tyler does his best to find ways to tackle while also there's this inbuilt tension in the company and the board members about the future of the company.
Also, his own attorney seems to be meddling in his personal life while trying to use the mask of the will.
But things to be suspicious as we progress ahead and time will tell who's loyal and who's not.
Ahhh... Towards the ending, I really loved how things had turned and where Tyler and Bella were at now.
But what they feared the most seems to be happening now and I really don't know how Tyler will handle all that.
Can't wait to find out what happens next. Loved this one.❤️❤️
Tumultuous, steamy, emotional
The twists and turns, emotional turmoil, heartache, heat, and intensity continues in SWEET SINNER, book #2 in Tyler Hawk and Bella Bailey's story. It picks up where Bastard Boss left us hanging, Bella's heart being broken after Tyler handed her a contract which completely destroyed her.
To say that Bella and Tyler have a tumultuous relationship would be an understatement, even being in the same room can turn into a disaster zone. Whether they are sparring with words, threatening with looks, or avoiding each other, one thing is obvious ... There is more than lust between them. Bella's mind is spinning, she's trying to maintain her professionalism, but Tyler is not making things easy for her, and the logic of her mind constantly battles with the feelings in her heart. While Tyler is struggling with the terms of his father's will, he is also trying to convince Bella that there is more to their relationship than just business. I loved Tyler's "aha" moment, when he finally realized that Bella was the only woman he wanted but was going about it all wrong.
Will Tyler and Bella be able to work together and discover why his father is playing games from the grave? Will Tyler be able to maintain his position at Hawk Legal, or will the board dismiss him? Will Bella finally accept that Tyler does love her? All will be revealed in the final installment. Dirty Little Vow. SWEET SINNER is a highly recommended read.
Lisaaaaaaa! Why do you do this to me?!?! I need book 3 stat!
You guys need to start this series if you haven’t already. Sweet Sinner is part of the Necklace series by Lisa Renee Jones. It is Book 5 in the series but Book 2 of this particular couple. In this installment, we pick up with Tyler and Bella right after they return from their trip to LA. Things changed while they were away and the lines between boss and star employee have blurred. Bella realizes she is more involved than a weekend fling should warrant. And Tyler is desperate for a fiancee to fulfill the terms of his fathers will.
I think Tyler and Bella may be my favorite couple by this author. I love that Bella doesn’t cave to Tyler. I hate that he can’t better communicate his reasoning to her. I understand why he can’t but because this is dual POV we have insight into his thoughts that would definitely benefit Bella to be able to see. He just can’t verbalize it to her. For her part, she really does try to toe the line of workplace relationships. But she and Tyler just have too much history to fight it for too long. Jealous Tyler might be my favorite. And who doesn’t love a puppy? Molly for the win! I’m anxious to see how things shape up with the antagonist (no spoilers). I had a feeling that person was up to something even in book 1. There was just something fishy about them. I hate the ending but only because it’s a cliffhanger and I have to wait a few months to see how it turns out.
It bears repeating…if you haven’t started this series, what are you waiting for? Do it now! You won’t regret it!
Tyler Hawk and Bella's tumultuous relationship continues in Sweet Sinner, the 5th book in the Necklace Series where Tyler is left in an impossible, no-win situation. It is filled with passion, mystery, intrigue, betrayal, heartbreak, intense emotions, and drama.
Tyler continues to struggle with his father's last wishes in his will and tries to find a way around it while simultaneously trying to convince Bella that their arrangement isn't all business. Bella has finally found her backbone when it comes to Tyler and she's a force to be reckoned with. Besides, she has her good name and a reputation to uphold. But their attraction is undeniable, maybe even unstoppable. Will she give in to the passion and Tyler's wishes, or will she finally leave Tyler to deal with things on his own?
This was an intensely emotional read. I devoured it in one day. The plot is intriguing and the characters are interesting. I loved Bella's sass and strength, but I also loved Tyler's tenacity. Their chemistry is combustible. I loved the push-and-pull between them. This ends on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! This is not a standalone book. You must read Bastard Boss first, to understand what this book is about. It is worth the read and I recommend reading both of them!
After telling an emphatic no, Bella and Tyler’s story picks up right where it left off. At an impasse between their unvoiced feelings for each other and the will that hangs over their heads, both retreat to their corners to reassess. Sweet Sinner is almost enough to finish their story, but I’m so glad that it did not. Much of the story is Bella struggling with her feelings for and against Tyler while Tyler is in denial about what he feels. Then there is the question of the implications of his father’s will. Much of this is resolved, but a lot is still left hanging for book 3 which releases in a few months. However, thankfully we readers are left with a HFN ending that doesn’t leave us on the edge of our seats with our bums going numb for half a year.
The heat simmers between them for the entire story, but slow burns until the steamy and sweet end. I loved how Tyler suddenly realized what was in front of his face all along and decided to fight for what he wanted, but realized he was wrong in his approach. The ending was so darn sweet! I also loved how this story gives us enough closure to not suffer for 6 months before the last of this trilogy releases. I am desperate to find out more about the will and how Gavin, the lawyer, fits into everything and can’t wait for the third book!
4.5 STARS
Book two in this trilogy continues in first person from an alternating dual POV. This book ends in a solid cliffhanger and readers will want to continue to find out what happens.
Tyler and Bella's relationship develops well in this book. They find a happy place with each other full of all the heat. As they settle in, they realize that his father is continuing to mess with Tyler from the grave. There are two elemental relationships in this book. Tyler's relationship with Bella, and his relationship with his father. Each relationship unfolds over the book. Tyler learns that he can be happy and different with Bella in a way he never thought possible. He recognizes that his father's hatred has shaped his reactions and his self-view, and that he can change that with time, effort, and Bella.
Parts of this book are flashbacks to Tyler and Bella's past. Readers get insight into some events early in their relationships well as reminders of events in book one. That makes this book flow a little faster if you are reading them back to back. Plot twists and new challenges made this book one I didn't want to put down. And you can bet without risk that I immediately started book three at the end of this one.
I was so excited to see this book on my kindle and waiting for me to read it. I have been waiting to see how things were going to go between Tyler and Bella, and boy oh boy.
Tyler Hawk is one tall, dark, and handsome man that is filled with the bad memories of his father that continues to haunt him from the grave. He has to jump through hoops just to satisfy a ghost. As Tyler tries to figure out what his father's game is, he begins to see that what he is feeling for Bella is real and he wants to pursue a future with her.
Bella has worked a Hawk Legal for a few years and she doesn't want others to think she slept her way into her job. She doesn't want to jeopardize anything to do with her career. As her feelings for Tyler grow, she wants to run the other way when he tells her what his father's will stipulates has to happen.
Can Tyler and Bella continue to grow closer and figure out what his father's game plan is? Will his father win in the end and Tyler lose the business? What will the board do? Who is behind it all?
I have so many questions and I need book three NOW!!!!!!
**I received a free copy of this book to read and review and this is my honest opinion**
loving this Series
This book is insane (in a good way). The chemistry between Tyler and Bella is off the charts. But yet, there are issues between the two of them that are keeping them from fully committing to their desires. All this mixed with the issue of the execution of Tyler’s father’s will.
Tyler is the epitome of what it means to be protective when it comes to those he loves. He’s gorgeous, smart, and very controlling when it comes to his emotions. His personal growth from book one, Bastard Boss, makes you fall in love with him.
Bella has her own issues when it comes to relationships. She is brilliant at her job, beautiful and confident in her profession while she brings out the best in those around her.
Bella and Tyler’s story gets steamier and more intriguing with each book. Once again, Lisa knows how to engage her readers with a page turning plot, and characters that will steam up those pages. In true Lisa fashion, his book ends with a cliffhanger. I’m so looking forward to the release of Dirty Little Vow, the third and final book in Bella and Tyler’s story.
