This is book four of the Detective Emily Tizzano Vigilante Justice Thriller series and the man characters are Emily, FBI Agent Cash Strickland and his sister Nicole, a federal prosecutor. Emily is recovering at home after breaking her ankle as she tried to get away from Cash and his fellow agents in Louisiana, after freeing a captive and killing the man who was holding her and had also managed to capture Emily briefly. That was her latest case and she hadn’t been able to get back to her normal life with her dog Miner. Her friend and IT techie Mike was helping her out and taking Miner for walks, which she can’t do as yet. She gets an unusual and surprising visitor in Cash Strickland, wanting to hire her to help protect his own sister from a stalker who won’t leave her alone. Nicole’s stalker works in the same building as her and is a janitor called Ethan, with keys to access everywhere, including her office, and clearly knows all the secrets ways around the building to be able to watch her and not get caught out! Unfortunately, he hasn’t actually been caught doing anything illegal and even his FBI colleague and the local police department can do nothing.
Cash is watching his strong and confident sister, start to retreat from life and even believe she is hallucinating about some of the things she thinks have happened or that she has seen. Emily isn’t sure whether she believes him and if his sister is in danger, or if this is some sort of trick and he is trying to catch her out in an illegal act. He clearly knows far more about the sort of work she has been doing for the last few years and she isn’t sure why he is asking her for help, with the resources he has at his hands. There is no evidence of the stalker and his actions, and Nicole is going from one extreme emotion to another, not wanting to have her brother take her out of her home or stay with her, meaning the stalker would have won! Emily is no longer a police detective and can bend the law to do what she does. She can get justice for those who need it the most, when no other avenue is open to them. This book shows how hard it is to make a case against a stalker and the highly damaging effect it can have on the victims. Emily soon finds exactly how deranged Ethan is, as he accosts her after she visited Nicole at work and he actually showed how intelligent yet fixated he was. She can’t watch Nicole 24/7 and Nicole refuses to accept her brother’s offer of somewhere else to stay. Actions soon lead Ethan to evolve his plans rapidly, leaving Nicole in missing and in danger and Emily and Cash clueless as to where he has taken her! A fast paced investigation that sees Emily working with what should have been her worst nightmare, an FBI agent, and something very different to her normal cases. A shocking ending with a very close call. I can’t wait to see what happens for Emily next and what case she may take, as she now has two powerful allies in her pocket. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Soon to be mine by K. J Kalis. A Vigilante Justice Thriller.

This is book 4 of a 4-book series about the journey of Emily Tizzano as she navigates her new life following her forced departure from her job as a cold case Detective with the Chicago Police Department. There is a continuation of the main story arc that is Emily's life and how she copes with all the upheaval and changes by helping other people get closure and how it affects her relationships over the course of the 4 books in this series; but each book can be read as a stand-alone. There is still background information that we as readers are missing about the secondary characters that Emily interacts with, but maybe that will be addressed in later books?
In this book, we deal with the insidious nature of the crime of stalking and the frustrating restrictions law enforcement have to deal with while trying to keep the person who is the focus of a stalker feeling safe and protected.
Nicole is working as a prosecutor attorney for the District Attorney's office and despite her working environment of dealing with dangerous criminals displays a level of naivety in dealing with the situation. Be pro-active, purchase a pen with a hidden camera/voice recorder to document everything to be able to show the level of harassment you are being subjected to, would have been my default reaction.
I get that the author wanted to show Nicole as a strong independent woman who overcame an emotional ordeal when she was younger and is a survivor who is reduced to a nervous wreck as the stalker situation continues; but Nicole's behaviour and attitude at times portrayed her as a damsel in distress/ too stupid to live character from a horror movie.
I would have thought the first thing you would do once you are being made aware that you are being stalked by someone relating to your work place is increase your personal and workplace security; upgrading the home security system by installing cameras both inside and outside around the house, garden, garage, doorbell camera, maybe even nanny cams hiding inside the house and workplace office, window locks, install dash cameras/GPS/ nanny cams for vehicle etc.
I liked the interactions between Emily and Cash, maybe they will team up again in future books?
An enjoyable read.
As at April 2023, there are 4 books in this series.
Twelve Years Gone - Book 1
Lakeview Vendetta - Book 2
Victim 14 - Book 3
Soon to Be Mine - Book 4

Can you say “edge of your seat”?

That is certainly where I was perched throughout this entire story. In another anxiety-provoking, tension-filled, edge-of-your-seat thriller, Emily Tizzano takes on a stalker who has grand delusions about his “relationship” with a federal prosecutor by the name of Nicole Strickland. Nicole is being driven to the brink of a total meltdown by the perpetual presence of her stalker. He is always there. At the office, outside her home, in restaurants and other public places, he is there. Nicole’s brother, Cash – an FBI agent – is at a loss for how to help his sister escape the constant creepy attention of her stalker. The law is very specific about what he can and cannot do and until the stalker actually commits a crime, Nicole is basically on her own. Finding that unacceptable, Cash asks Emily Tizzano for help. Emily, being a former detective with the Chicago Police Department, has fewer restrictions when dealing with unsavory characters and she often helps people that have been failed by law enforcement. In this spell-binding story, Cash and Emily work together to assure Nicole’s safety but as things escalate with Nicole’s stalker, the situation gets really dicey. I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the four Emily Tizzano thrillers. Although each can be read as a standalone, there are threads weaving them together. Recurring characters, references to past adventures, and ongoing relationships between the characters provide a unifying factor to the series that keeps me coming back for more. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys taut suspenseful thrillers with a vigilante slant.

Amazing series

I loved the stories. I read all 4 of them in this series. However as much as I love a bad @ss chic. I found her rude mostly. Do I understand why yes of course but also found alot of time it was unnecessary. Also she has 2 potential love interests the writer could of gave her but didn't. I really wanted to see a romance. Some sexy scenes. 1st I thought Cameron but then we'll where he lived wouldn't work then thought mostly Cash would of vee an awesome one and this case would of been perfect for them to find love together. Just missed opportunity. But really the entire series was so good. I dont usually read these kinds of books cause I like alpha possessive heros with very hot scenes but these were so good without them even tho I was rooting for romance by the end and with it to be Cash. Please read these books they were awesome I read these 4 in 2 days I couldn't put them down. Bravo Author.

This book continues the series with Emily Tizzano who was forced to leave her job as a cold case Detective with the Chicago Police Department.
Since she is no longer a police detective, she can bend laws to get justice for those who need it.
Emily has a history that involved Cash Strickland an FBI Agent + the reason she is no longer a detective.
Now he wants to hire her to help protect his own sister Nicole from a stalker who won’t leave her alone.
Nicole is a federal prosecutor. Her stalker, Ethan is a janitor that works in the same building as her with keys to access everywhere.
Emily soon finds exactly how deranged Ethan is, as he accosts her after she visited Nicole at work + he actually showed how intelligent yet fixated he was. Actions soon lead Ethan to evolve his plans rapidly, leaving Nicole missing + in danger. Emily + Cash is clueless as to where he has taken her!
As in real life, it’s hard to make a case against a stalker + the damaging effect it can have on the victims. This is a fast paced investigation, with an unexpected ending.

Emily is used to selecting her cases from dead files and she is in this story presented with a case with a very live victim and perpetrator. Things are worse than they seem to be, there's nothing that the Police or the FBI can do to nail the culprit but he is making the life of his victim a living hell and she is starting to doubt her sanity. Will she accept the case and be able to solve it? How is Mike going to react when he learns that Cash, the FBI agent that was an obstacle to Emily in her last case, is the one asking for help? A good plot and well-written story that provides a few hours of good entertainment!.

I’m stretching the truth to give this book 3 stars. The plot and characters were simple. Too much time was spent on the development. Some angles were introduced, then ignored. Might have been interesting - and suspenseful! - if what we as readers found out was revealed to the protagonists. Characters were not well developed. And Nicole is stupid even though she is a prosecutor? She and her brother believe she is in danger yet she insists on staying by herself? Her character portrayal as a prosecutor and strong woman was totally undone by her portrayal as a victim. Thought I might bag the book mid-way but kept with it to the very unsatisfying and too-quick end. In a word, this boook is Simple.

I'll go with review by Silvia V from April 26th but gave it a 2.5 instead of 3. Emily Tizzano a former Chicago Det, forced out of the dept now does some investigations on the side. She is approached by Cash Strickland, FBI to help his sister a Prosceutor with a stalker problem.

It does go into some details about the stalker and how both the FBI agent and Chicago police assigned to the case are dropping the ball. Within in hours of agreeing to look into it, Emily's hacker Mike finds video footage in the Federal building verifying some of Nicole's claims. She then is the one to follow up and is the one to find Nicole when it goes bad.

It was a bit wordy and some of it could have been edited for a more concise story.

I can't believe how much I am enjoying K.J. Kalis's books. This is the 4th of her books that I have read and am enjoying the break from my usual. Do you think her books will all end in vigilante justice? I mean, that is the theme, right?

This book brings together the FBI, Chicago PD and the Prosecutor's Office. A young State Attorney, the sister of an FBI agent, is being stalked by someone. This tough attorney is not rattled by the criminals she tries to put away, but this stalker has gotten to her. She is losing sleep and no longer trusts her instincts or her judgment. Since no real crime has been commited, the FBI agent contacts Emily (our favorite private eye) to work the case and shake this stalker from his sister's life.

Another great page turner sure to please.

An OK read

The story wasn't bad, it just could have been condensed. I skipped paragraphs and never lost any significant details.

The characters of Cash and Emily were well developed. I felt their frustration regarding the stalker. Ethan came across a tad cliched but believably creepy. Nicole simply annoyed me with her truly poor decisions. For a successful prosecutor, I didn't find many of her actions smart and therefore not authentic. Ditto for Emily and a very strategic place in the story.

I did finish the book but am not interested enough in Emily's storyline to continue.

FBI Agent Cahs Strickland calls on Emily Tizzano, unannounced and uninvited. Emily used to be a detective with the Chicago Police Department until she was forced to leave. Miner, her dog doesn't like the agent. Cash wants her help for his sister, Nicole, who is a federal prosecutor. She has a stalker--Ethan Wynn, who also works in the same building as Nicole. They don't have enough evidence for a restraining order and a 'talk' to him didn't do any good. But then things escalate and soon there are more problems. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is an outstanding thriller to read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Emily is in her niche helping others get justice.

I have read all 4 books of Emily Tizzano Vigilante Justice thrillers and enjoyed them so very much. I didn't want to stop reading. Every story was different, but she had her tech guy Mike, helping her with his computer skills while she did all the leg work and putting herself on the line without police backup. I plan on trying her other series of books.

A bit of a slow story initially about whether Emily will take the case as she is unsure of Cash Strickland's motive but Nicole needs their help even though the stupid girl fights them every step of the way almost as if she wants to confront her stalker who seems to be one step ahead of them right up to the moment Emily kills him (serves him right) Mike the tech man is the real hero as Emily would be in the dark without him to guide her.

👀 He’s watching her. The law won’t stop him. But Emily Tizzano might.

K.J. Kalis’s Soon to Be Mine is a tense, fast-paced thriller about obsession, justice, and survival.

obsessed

I can’t get enough of this series. Emily is someone that you want on your side. She’s a smart ex-cop that knows the right people to get on the inside of things. Nicole, a federal prosecutor has made enemies from her career, does she have a convict or someone else stalking her? This is a page turner, be prepared.

soon To Be Mine

Telling all my reading friends about K.J.Kalis. Each book is a truly great read. Powerful characters, plot with a few twists and turns, maybe more than a few. At the end of each book when my breath is still shallow and heart beating rapidly I am down loading next book of K.J. Kalis. Read one you’ll be hooked.

Emily is at it again. She just can’t not be involved in certain aspects of the law. No longer a cop with the CPD, but she is asked to help with a situation with an FBI agent…the one who she clashed with in Louisiana in the last book.
Excellent!!!

Too Real

You know that this story touches so many. Especially young women. So many of us men read all too much into a friendly smile, or hug. Real men do not drevelop fantasy obsessions! Good ending!

Once again we are intrigued by Emily. She’s trying to recuperate from a broken ankle from her last case. As always she’s going to get involved solving the next case. Plenty of action to draw you in for more.

This book was exciting but frustrating. I couldn't believe a psycho was after a lawyer but nothing could be done unless he "did something". It was amazing what the stalker got away with.

Even more amazing was how proficient Mike was at hacking into government files.

Good book

Perfectly enjoyable

This is an interesting series. This time Emily's involvement was a lot more out in the open. A vigilante needs a little more secrecy. Still good

Fair

Soon to Be Mine is a pretty good tale; a little short on thriller status and a little long on technology. Overall a fair read.
