You can’t outrun the truth.

Fresh off the heels of a major firefight with the Patriot Hooligan gang, Ben and the others must turn their attention to the treacherous road ahead and the final task of reaching Colorado.

In addition to the dangers they face in their everyday struggle to survive, there are tough decisions to be made. Ben is forced to choose between a guilty conscience and what’s best for his family when they find themselves at odds with a member of the group.

Amid the chaos that their lives have become, one thing still remains the same. Life on the road is as brutal as it ever was.

Another good addition to the series.
A member of the traveling party finally gets the hint and leaves on his own…. But takes way more than his share of the goods. As well as the only atlas they have.
Ready for book 13!!

This book I just felt frustrated, Honestly these people can’t seem to go 24hrs without having to kill people & the lone Man they saved from the moonshiners his been such a liability for so many books! He almost got them killed many times and kept taking advantage of the others. They should have parted ways with him a long time ago!

When they saved him & killed the tiger I was sad for the tiger but understand no one wants their kids to see a man eaten by a tiger… even if it would make their life easier!

Then for him to not only sneak out in the middle of the night giving up their location & safety. They then found out he stole the extra gas cans and the map!
On top of not splitting the resources in his truck with the other 6 people in the group… especially since he had nothing when they saved him!

The book just ended with them finding his vehicle stopped by a farm or barn after coming across a car on the road full of bullets… looks like that was Martin’s doing & he broke his truck.

Now it’s time to get their stuff back

It is unusual to need spellchecker for a book title, but here we are. Dissent is a word, but the spelling the author wanted was Dissension. These books are woefully too short and I am starting to think that by the time the group gets to Colorado, I will be too old to care. I also won’t answer Ben’s question as to how unlucky they had to be to encounter a Bengal tiger in Indiana nor the assertion that gun toting American civilians kept the Japanese empire at bay in WWII. The pressing issue of Martin was a pall over the book and it was no surprise he stole from the group and took off, but why oh why does Ben’s group never, ever always have someone on watch? I’m into this series for 12 books now and each short book has the same scenarios and same mistakes by the group. I will give 13 a try but may reach my tipping point soon.

Martin. Ugh.

The Dark Road book 12, Dissention, lives up to its predecessors nicely. The plot is tight, and I flew through quickly- I just love this series.
Martin. What a jerk. What an idiot! I don't know if I want to see him alive- that means Been and the group will have to adopt him again, seeing as he screwed up and lost the truck. How many more people will Ben and company have to chew through to get their stuff back? I'm hoping the atlas was left in the vehicle, or there could be huge issues; I don't even know if I could handle that possible plot twist. Bad enough that it will take months for the next book!

I couldn’t put them down!

I ate through these so fast I was surprised when I reached book 12! I had no time to stop and give a review I was so entrenched in the story! I am a survivalist fanatic and to say I’d love to see these books properly done up on the big screen is an understatement! This would make a fantastic tv series not only for the great stories but also the authors increasing ability to make the scenes believable! So much on tv is unbelievable nonsense that I truly think a dose of reality and what could really happen is very much needed! Thanks Mr. Miller for the fantastic ride😘

I am going to write this review for all 14 of the books in this series, because the positives and negatives are the same for each book. Each book involves at least one major challenge while the characters fight their way to family and then back home cross country. The challenges are definitely page-turners and I often found myself wondering "how are they going to get out of THIS one?"
The main criticism I have is that the reader has to spend way too much time inside the minds of some of the characters, and these characters worry about the same things, time after time. There could easily have been less books in this series if all the re-hashing of anxieties were removed.

Overview: Ben and the group part ways with Ed and his family to begin the journey back to Colorado. Before leaving, a local family attempts to ambush Ed, but Joel and Ben quickly neutralize the threat. On the road, Martin twice draws danger to the group—first from a tiger and later from a violent family of four—both incidents ending in bloodshed. In the dead of night, Martin betrays the group, stealing the gas canisters, road atlas, gear, and the scout. By the book’s end, the group discovers Martin’s scout abandoned at a cabin deep in the woods, riddled with bullet holes and with no trace of him.

LOVE these characters!!

Awesome characters & story!! Great detail & storyline. Very good how each character is so great- bad guys are bad & get what’s coming! Cliff hangers make it tough to wait for the next book- but they are totally worth the wait!! Hoping so much for a happy ending- but hoping even more for some spin off stories or even a whole new series!! Miller is Awesome & i want more of his books!!

Love.

I love you Bruno Miller and I love all your books. You have given me hours of reading enjoyment. I like that you use plain language in your writing. No fancy words that I have to stop reading and use the dictionary to find the meaning. I tell everyone how great your books are and how much I enjoy reading them.

good quick read

This new addition to the DARK ROAD series was not as exhilarating as some of the previous books, but well worth the read. Ben and his kids have been on quite a ride. You can see his children grow up and become contributing members of society despite their young age. Sandy and Ben are meant for each other. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Best Apocalypse book series I’ve read

I really love this family and how well they’re working together in the apocalypse. I can’t believe they made it as far as they have already!
The writer has done a great job in the apocalypse genre without sex scenes, bible verses and not politically charged!
I recommend this series!

Very entertaining

Dissention, thought maybe it was the name of a town, ha.
Good novel with characters that you can appreciate. Action and the the threat of danger sometimes coming where you least expect it expect it. A long and very intriguing series that makes you look forward to each book.

Great story.

The author does a great job with the different personalities in these stories. If the situation were real I imagine there would be plenty of Martin’s not pulling their weight. Ben, Joel, and the rest of the ‘family’ are still trying to get back home. They continue to face adversity along the way.

Great Apocalypse!

Characters are great through the whole series. Plot is inventive and believable. Lots of new situations and very satisfying! Just wish books were longer in length. Hoped they would make Colorado-but must wait for the next installment.

Wow what a awesome series!

Hat's off to this author for the best of this type of story! You can't help but sit on the edge of your seat as you read them! My only complaint is they end too soon! Can't wait for the next one!

12 books is not an accurate description. The "books are better described as chapters.

Good characters and suspense. It's a joke to describe each chapter as a book. Bruno is milking it. The last book quits right at the height of a big showdown. Very disappointing!

The only thing that I have to say about this series is that the books are too short and that I have to wait for another book what a good series well written keeps you from getting bored with the series well worth the time for reading this series
