DNF 82%. Why you say? So close! Bc I really can't be bothered. I skipped and skimmed 40% up to the 82% already it's that uninteresting.

It started well enough with the single dad dragon shifter thing and the children who are little dragons (except 1 human), but everything else was soooooo boring!!!! Sooooo sooooo boring!

I don't understand how it got so many high ratings! Bleh!

Gideon is a financial consultant, complete with being a single father to three girls, Polly 13, Maya 9 and Addy Dragomir 6, respectively.

He’s concerned that being a full-time father has turned him into a lumpy mess, especially his midsection.
“Polly”. At thirteen, she was a generally reliable source of information on all things human-world related.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Yes, Dad?"
"Where would someone go to exercise?"
"You mean like ... a gym?"
"Yeah, a gym," Maya contributed. She was now stretched out on the living room carpet in a physically impossible position, her legs casually bent with her heels touching her head, watching cartoons on TV. Then she flipped over and kept watching with her head hanging upside down and her hands and feet flat on the floor.
"I've heard of them," Gideon said warily.
“Are you going to join a gym, Dad?" Polly asked. She covered her mouth with her hand and giggled.
"Why is that funny?"
"I don't know! It just is! You can probably pick up all the weight machines with just one hand. You'll break things."
"So you have a little bit of a dad bod," Polly said from her seat at the counter. "You're a dad. You're supposed to."
Addy nodded and wrapped her arms around his neck. "You're a good shape, Daddy. It's soft and huggy."
Right. Definitely going to one of these human gyms, pronto.”

Lara is forty, a fitness trainer and yoga instructor. She wants to be a mother.

This incorporates hot flashes, graying, melting bodies and idiot employers. Lara gets to experience motherhood through Gideon’s three girls and Gideon gets a mate.

Oh my gosh, this one was so cute from the start. Gideon was an awesome dad, so good dealing with little girls, full of energy and mini shifters. Just as good with his older fully human daughter. I loved how he thought he was getting pudgy and needed to do something about it. That brought him to Lara, who was his mate. He clued her in pretty fast of his secret, but it worked, fully fast forward to Lara meeting the little girls and saving the day. From there Gideon and Lara were all in on their relationship. There was the added bonus of creating a gym just for shifters and all the things being shifter includes. All in all this one was a fast fun read, you couldn't help but to smile while reading it and rooting for them all.

sweet

What a fun, sweet story following Gideon, a dragon shifter and Lara, a trainer. I adore the mature couple stories and this one was done so well, highlighting the importance of living life well but in such a way to fully embrace your years. It is a wonderful message. Gideon’s children were adorable and overall, I enjoyed this low angst, amusing fated mates romance.

A cute premise for a story. A very short quick read. Shifter Dad realizes he is not as toned as he was when younger and takes steps to correct it.

This is a cute shifter romance novella, with likeable characters. It was very short, so there wasn't time for as much character development as I normally like. It also contains instalove, which is typical in shifter romances. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

I liked both Gideon and Lara. I did think, though, that she would have been a little more shocked than she was when Gideon first showed her that he was a dragon shifter.

I absolutely LOVED that Gideon was such a good dad, and that his daughters were his first priority. I also really liked that his daughters immediately took to Lara, and that she fell for them, too.

I also liked that this story did not contain violence. Lots of shifter stories contain quite a bit of violence, so I appreciated that this one did not.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Cute story

I enjoyed the story. I like that he had no idea what a gym was all about. I found that humorous. First time I have read of two different type of dragons in the same family. That was interesting. I loved the age of the girls. The teenager was not typical. But when she felt comfortable talking to Lara about what was bothering her about living with her mom, it made my heart melt. Having the shifter gym on a top floor with all that weight really bothered me I mean what's to stop those weights from going to the next floor I mean were the floors cemented in between. Practical I know but it crossed my mind. I'd like to read more shifters from the gym finding their mates. That would be fun. The dad bod picture on the cover made me smile because well face it he's not a typical cover model but could he out a shirt on please! Its a good story well worth your time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did well done Zoe!

I enjoyed this and having mature H’s made this for me.
The whole idea of shifters in the city needing a place to exercise as themselves was perfect and made sense.
What I struggled with all the way to the end was that Gideon had been married. Not widowed, or single with children but married to someone not his mate and their reasons for getting married just seemed weak.
I can never understand a shifter story where they have gotten married and had children, NOT waited for their fated mate.
Really, what happens if your mate suddenly walks into your life when you are married with a young child/children.
No one worth their self-respect would break up a marriage and family.
There wasn’t a lot of romance in this due to having three young children running amok but I cannot say I felt a connection between Gideon and Lara.
So apart from that sour taste in my mouth over that situation, I would enjoy reading more about Lara’s Gym.

The plot and characters are cute but Gideon was not really realistic as a financial planner/consultant. I think his job was thrown in as something a dragon would do, but the writer doesn’t actually know what that job entails. Main part of the financial industry is keeping up with the news and how that affect markets: what’s going on with sectors and industries. He wouldn’t have to ask his daughter where the humans go to get in shape, even if he had never been to a gym before. He would have heard of hot flashes before. He’s been living in the human world for at least 13 years and was married to a human woman for at least 7 years. So although he was generally likable he should have been smarter. I have a cousin who is a yoga instructor in her mid 50s and she is in fantastic shape so I would think Lara would be too.

Good first read

This is at the moment a one book only but there is room for more characters and love interests (maybe a shifter day care downstairs while they are in the gym or a food place buy the whole building) this book was a laughing out loud from the very beginning with the dad and his three children (so funny) it's a short read but that also means no dragged out page fillers.there is a ex (in this shifter world you can have kids with non mates sadly) but the author did not write her as a bad person but that debatable she had kids 3 and left hardly see them yet she wanted kids?
Spoiler stop reading here if yet to read....... the ex to only want her oldest Polly (who is not a dragon) to stay with her? (Ex is human to) it sounded like she didn't want to know when there baby's or shifters?
You always get a good shifter read under this name.

This one is for the getting older crowd!

Gideon just realized that the toned dragon shifter body of his youth has gone soft. It's now a "dad bod." So he investigates using a nearby gym. This is where he meets Lara who is a fitness trainer dealing with hot flashes and younger coworkers! She also happens to be his mate! Things really move from there.

The pace is fast and the tone is hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some steamy suggestions but not a lot of details. The characters are vibrant and endearing, especially the girls! I am hoping that this is the start of a new series. If you like shifter romances with quirky characters and some laughs, then this is for you. Enjoy!

Sweet feel good read

When a ripped bod with six pack abs is really a man who is malnourished and dehydrated (Google it) while being a gym rat may be appealing to some, I repulsed by them. Healthy bodies are easily attainable with a healthy lifestyle.
This story was overall, a breath of fresh air! I feel bad we live in a time that the author had to keep stressing that.
The characters were fun and loveable, the plot was a relaxing read (something I crave) that I couldn't put down.
I'd love to read more with new shifters! The antelope shifter bouncing all over reminded me of how much I adore Chase from the Fire & Rescue series... Perhaps the antelope's story might be in this series?!

A sweet and heart warming novella

This is a sweet, swoony, adorable, and fun shifter novella set in an urban environment. Lara is a middle aged personal fitness trainer who feels like her life is lacking. She’s unhappy in her job and her application to adopt a child was turned down again. Gideon is a dragon shifter who is the single father of three girls. When Gideon notices his body is softer than it used to be he decided to join a gym. And meets Lara, his fated mate. While short, the writing was good, the characters were fairly well developed, and the storyline was fun and engaging. I hope we get more stories of the gym shifters.

Another great story by Zoe Chant. Gideon and Lara are both likeable, the kids are adorable, and their story has that down home, familiar feel. These feel like real people, like their real, everyday love story, but with dragons. I enjoyed the shifters-in-the-city aspect, as well as the fact that Hh were older than your typical romance novel; I also really appreciated the diversity (human and dragon) and thought Zoe did a great job handling the family dynamics (co-parenting, shifter and non-shifter kids, and the sudden stepmom). I would love to see this become a series; maybe the ex could find her mate?

What does a middle-aged father of three do when he realizes he's gained a little padding over the years and wants to slim back down? Join a gym, of course. But he's also a dragon with shifter metabolism, so he's never worked out before, in or out of a gym. A personal trainer is the perfect person to teach him how to work out. And when she turns out to be his mate, things get very personal. A slightly different spin in shifter romance. Very fun, with the potential to be the first in a new series.

Cute!!

This is a fast, entertaining read. Gideon is a overworked, middle aged, single dad whose just realized that flying a desk and chasing his girls has "softened" him more than he's happy with. He walks into a neighborhood gym, follows his dragon's urging and picks the name of an available personal trainer to talk to, who happens to be Lara. The ensuing developments are engaging, sometimes hilarious with a good dose of cute and adorable mixed in for good measure.

Finally!

I've been thinking for a long time that certain shifter types should be more... cuddly, especially when they're middle-aged. This book is accepting of different body types, but acknowledges that exercise is a part of being healthy, and it's something that would be harder for city-dwelling shifters. The main conflict is from a slimy landlord/gym owner, and it's very minor.

The protagonists are sympathetic and the kids are adorable.

Reality with a twist

For fantasy every situation had the feel of reality. This could make a great series. Haven't seen the problems shifters face in an urban setting more than hinted at till this. Lack of space both for shifting and exercise is a reality. Interesting how Lara gathered info on how different shifters exercised, what their weight lifting abilities were and how fast they normally run. That way she had equipment that could handle each shifter.

Loved It!

What a fabulous story. She was frustrated with the ways things had been going, feeling stuck in a rut. He took an unexpected look in the mirror and was surprised by what he saw. A dragon Dad body with a bit of fluff around the middle. Those revelations led up to their meeting. The meeting that changed everything. Everything their heart desires, they were making come true. How fantastic is that! Loved the epilogue!

Very cute!

All you could want in a Zoe Chant PNR is here! Good story, "real" characters that could be your neighbors, and they're people that you want to be friends with. Everyday problems with shifters in the mix become a little more fun, and these books have got a lot of humor throughout the story, and you'll probably read the last chapter with a smile. Because in the end, these are feel-good books, and this one delivers.

Loved this book!!

The Zoe Chant books have been delivering consistently and this book was no different. The characters were incredibly written and perfectly relatable. I loved everything about this book and highly recommend the read. I really hope to get more of these types of characters and maybe more of the members of the gym.

It's great to read about a middle-aged couple finding their HEA. Gideon and Lara hit it off immediately. Normally I think kids tend to take away from the main couple. In this instance, the girls were such an important part in the story. They were amazing as a family unit. I really hope what get more books like this. I receive an early copy and this is my honest opinion.

Different read.

This is a very different kind of story. Of the hundreds of books I've read this is a first. An out of shape dragon?,is there such a thing? Evidently there is. The innocence of the father and learning curve with the children is a fresh idea. I hope there is a follow up to this book.

This was awesome midlife romance. I like reading about older couples. He believes he is getting out of shape and wants to do something about it. She is a personal trainer. Of course also his fated mate. He does have 3 kids already and she wants children. it has some drama due to her boss.

I voluntarily agreed to review this product. My review is entirely my own opinion.

Shifter Co-Op Gym

Shifters out-of-shape? No way! But Gideon, a single dad raising three daughters, decides his human body is not what it used to be. He goes to a nearby gym and is paired with Lara, who turns out to be his human mate!!
Between Lara, three daughters and trying to figure out how shifters can exercise in a gym, this is another lively Zoe Chant story!

finally, a love story for those of us over 40!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! As an avid reader of a certain age, well over 40, I enjoyed reading about a woman falling in love with a man and not having to be perfect. Didn’t need a perfect body, had all the hot flashes, I loved it it was great

fun and lighthearted

This book is of a dad-bod having dragon and a middle aged woman, which is exactly what I needed in my life. They seem more like real people than many romances I have read. I did wish we got to know them in a little more depth, but it is a great, quick, light-hearted read.

Loved this book

While it was a shifter mating book, it wasn't all about mating. It was about family and well Lara fit with the dragon shifter and his kids. She was a real Woman with midlife problems. It was steamy in some parts but I liked the fact it wasn't all about sex. Good book indeed!

It’s delightful to see romances about older people getting their happily ever (HEA) after! Getting older doesn’t mean you can’t find romance, fun times and sexy times. The characters dealt with realistic issues but in a fun and caring way which is what I love about Zoe Chant’s books. I hope I can see more of Gideon and Lara as friends of theirs, of all ages, get their HEA in this city setting.
