“Everyone has something painful in their past, don’t they?”
Samantha Fisher never thought filming a music documentary of the up-and-coming rock band, Indigo King, would lead to a broken wrist, and a broken heart. But Matt Sturridge, the hot and mysterious drummer, seems to have made driving Samantha crazy his sole mission in life, all while keeping painful secrets from everyone.
Mixed messages? That’s not even half of it.
Samantha notices that there’s something off about Matt. Since he refuses to talk about it, she is determined to find out what it is, no matter what it costs her.
Sometimes the price of fame is too damned high.
Book #2 in the Near Miss rock star romance series. The series consists of stand-alone novels following the trials and tribulations of the members of the band Indigo King.
Amy Booker is a full-time author and former musician now living her passion of writing complex contemporary romances that immerse readers into the realities—both beautiful and gritty—of life on stage and behind the scenes. Most feature rockstars, while some venture into the glitz of Vegas.
With over a dozen novels under her belt, Amy draws from her own experience to pen authentic plots and multidimensional characters. Never one to shy away from tough topics, her books tackle real situations with emotional depth.
When she's not crafting her next book, you can find Amy embarking on thrilling travels, getting lost in audiobooks, catching Arsenal matches, or tuning into the Critical Role D&D show. She shares her home with rescue pup Gunner and has an adult son with special needs who fills her days with both challenges and immense love.
So Close Near Miss, Book 2 By: Amy Booker Narrated by: Ryan Lee Dunlap, Addison Barnes
Rockband romances are one of my favorite listens and this series brings it all. This is the second book of the Near Miss series, and we are treated to Matt and Samantha's story. Matt is the drummer of the band, and he holds some secrets. When Samantha is hired to record the ins and outs of daily life and conversation of the band to create a documentary, he is not happy. His demons are his own, and they don't need to be put on display. This enemies to lovers story pushes all the right buttons. Samantha is ambitious, but she knows what is important in life, and her compassion when it comes Matt is sweet. Matt is a tough nugget, doesn't give an inch until he does, and his whole personality is let go. Amy Booker approaches relevant issues and melds them into this romance, dealing with them sensitivity. I am truly enjoying this series, and getting glimpses of other people we met in the first book is just a plus to the story.
Ryan Lee Dunlap and Addison Barnes continue their narration of this series. I am enjoying this team as we get to know the characters. They both fall into character, find the perfect voice and emotion and are creating a community that is fun to visit. It's a pleasure to listen to them.
Samantha has just been signed to do a documentary of a band and the job came at the right time. She and her boyfriend just broke up so she put her belongings in storage because now she’s relatively homeless, so off she goes. Matt and his band are the opening band for Incendiary ink and he’s happy about it. He’s just not very happy about the documentary, he’s only agreed to participate as a group but not on any one on one interview. When Matt meets Samantha I swear it was love at first sight, he played it cool and barely grunted a hello during introductions. I love that he tried to get Jude to not look at her because he was jealous. Matt is a sweet and gentle soul but his life had been the stuff nightmares are made of. It’s sad and even now it’s a part of him he’s never shared with anyone, except Samantha. Even though she got the abridged version but already he feels like he has someone on his side. This story is truly beautiful and I couldn’t put it down. It’s romantic and the ending was perfect, I’m giving it five stars and highly recommend it. Now I’m going to read book three, Jude’s story.
This is book two in The Near Miss series and it is Samantha and Matt's story. Matt is a drummer for the popular band called Indigo Kings and Samantha is going on tour with them to film a music documentary but things don't always go as planned. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions along with some difficult situations that are written with so much care and compassion. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't put it down as it was a real page turner. This is the first book that I have read by Amy Booker but definitely not the last as it was so well written with great characters and storyline and it is a must read.
I had a tough time getting into it in the beginning, but man am I glad I continued! It had suspense, love, sexy moments, and swooning moments. This is definitely one of my favorites. I absolutely fell in love with Sam and Matt. I’ve found, with some books, one of the characters seem to be immature or just plain stupid, but not with these two….this is a must read!.

While the story takes a bit to get moving, once it does the characters invite you into their mysteries and their back stories. Sam, or Samantha is a great female character and she (in my opinion) holds a lot of the story together. It’s fun, entertaining but also filled with a few cool twists that will have you asking for more.

Listened on audible, narration is fabulous. Book 2 in the ‘Near Miss’ series is amazingly brilliant, Matt has a lot of secrets but Samantha comes along and shakes up his world. It is a believable story that adds in Sarah, Ryan, Vanessa and Jude from book 1. They have become a chosen family and when Matt’s secrets start to unravel that chosen family sticks together and becomes stronger. Loving this series - onto book 3.
I hadn’t read book 1 in this series and even though this book can be read as a standalone the stories are about the band members of Indigo King and this is Matt’s and Samantha’s story. This is my absolute favourite genre rockstars, bands etc and this is my 1st read and review for this author and what an amazing book to start off with and I can’t wait to read book 3, sorry guys no spoilers so read the blurb and that will give you the gist to this story and I definitely recommend this book.
Oh my, this one was tough to read, but in a good way. Matt had lived with so many demons for so long and Samantha’s arrival coinciding with his past returning made for some serious ups and downs. Hard issues were covered but with compassionate delivery. A love story at it’s core with a touch of passion, sweetness, humour and romance.

This is Matt’s and Samantha’s story and the Band members of Indido King. It’s a story of bands and rockstar’s and a love story full of sweet romance, passion and humor that makes for a great story. I can’t wait to read more.

So Close by Amy Booker is a good, and enjoyable enemies to lovers rock star romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry.

The ups and downs of Matt and Sam are so cute! While the story is still intense it was much easier for me to get through then the first one. When their is a lot of “will they, won’t they “ in romances it sometimes gets to me and I need to take breaks! But this one is definitely my fave so far! I love the quiet broody giant! So sweet to watch them get their HEA!
I enjoyed this romance story with all of the characters. The main characters were Samantha Fisher and Matt Sturridge.
Samantha Fisher be offered a job filming a music documentary for an up coming rock band. The rock band is call the Indigo King. She is to meet them at a hotel but when she gets there she finds out that there is no registration with her name. So she looks outside for their bus and find it. But their no one their until a guy comes by wondering by and what's to know what she doing to the bus.
Matt Sturridge is in a band that is call the Indigo King. They are going on tour and having a video documentary film. He is not happy about the documentary because he doesn't want any one to find out his past life.
This was a fun story to read. It had action, secrets, adventure, suspense and drama within. It had a few laughs and giggles throughout.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
Matt Sturridge is running from his past and hiding out as the drummer in the hottest of bands, Indigo Kings. Samantha Fisher is hired by the label to document their next tour. But, inevitably, the past collides with the present. Will they get over themselves and their circumstances and find their HEA?
Another great addition to the series! This story is delightfully suspenseful! Sam and Matt have an acrimonious start to their relationship, and it gets worse when a jogging accident breaks Sam's wrist. This story is a wonderful slow-burn enemies-to-lovers tale with a perfect amount of suspense! I love Sam, she's a wonderful character with her strength and tenacity, and when she wants something, she goes for it. Matt was a bit more mysterious with his hidden demons and a bit of a hot head. Together, Sam and Matt ignite, especially when Matt pulls his head out of his rear. I liked how the story had a good mix of romance and suspense, without being too heavy on either. The beginning of the story was a little slow and took time to pick up, but once it did, the rest of the story flowed quite nicely. This is the second story in the series and the first does not need to be enjoyed before enjoying this one, but I recommend reading/listening to it first to properly enjoy this one! The story has slow-burn steam and swearing, and some violence on page. TW: childhood abuse, child neglect, references to drug use (none on page), and violence.
Without giving away the plot or repeating the blurb, this book brings up an issue that I hadn't seen in books before. The range of emotions felt by both MCs felt honest in the situation. This is my first book by Amy Booker but the other 2 books are on my TBR now.

Strange in a good way. Matt is the closed off, enigmatic drummer of the band. Samantha, or Sam, has been hired to do a documentary on the band’s rise and first big tour. This is enemies to lovers. Strange twists. They hate each other; they are drawn together. He hates her and pushes her away even while he craves her. Matt has some serious secrets from his childhood. Bottling them up is part of his problem in life. There is a crescendo and life topples around Matt. Hard to be trusting, his first thought is to push Samantha away. Honestly, as hot and cold as he is, I’d give up. She does not. And his proposal in Paris is a fairytale. Still a lot of crying by both main characters.
This is book 2 in Booker's Near Miss. Can be read as a stand alone, but this series focus' on the bank members of Indigo King. This book is about the drummer Matt and Samantha who goes on tour with the band to film a documentary. While the storyline takes a bit, stay with it - it's well worth the ride! Sweet, steamy, suspenseful...a great romance! Can't wait for book 3 - Barely.

Wow, just wow! Matt and Samantha Story was like climbing aboard the tallest roller coaster in the world. Their ups and downs were so frequent. It would make your head spin, but both of them are loyal, loving, caring people who just needed to rid their life of evil. Jax has sent Matt into turmoil one last time. with Samantha’s help he’s able to overcome the fears of his childhood. Can’t wait to see what happens next with Jude.
Wow! This book takes you for a ride and then some. First let me say that Samantha is awesome, strong and stubborn determined to find out what secrets Matt, the hot drummer, hides. They are sooo good together and I am happy for them that they found each other.

Matt is the drummer of a rock band and very shut off. It’s how he has dealt with his past. Samantha is is doing a documentary and is really good at reading people. She knows Matt is hiding something that has him scared. I really enjoyed this story. This is the second in the series and I did not read the first so this can be read stand alone.
So Close is book 2 in the series, but can be read as a standalone. This is the rockstar romance story of Matt & Samantha. Their story starts out slow, but Im glad I stuck with it. It ended up being a captivating story with the perfect amount of romance and drama.
Good characters and story lines that kept me turning the pages..... sometimes hoping for some additional steam on those pages. I am on to book 3 to complete the stories and hopeful that besides a HEA there is passion. I do recommend the series.
