Having have heard of this author from several artists whose work I appreciate, I decided to see what the "fuss" was all about. This is a very interesting and unusual look into how an artist perceives the world around them. Covering several interesting topics including light, form, perspective etc. Jacobs provides an "alternate" view from what other instructors teach, and in the process, inspires the artist to re-evaluate the way he observes the world around him.
I didn't really change my drawing style with this, (even though I greatly admire the author's style) but I did begin to approach different media with an eye towards what he had accomplished. It also gave me a different way of looking at things before committing them to paper. A good morale booster of a book to skim through before starting a fine art project.
