Plum I thought I had been through the worst with my soon to be ex husband. I was wrong. I can only hope that someone saves me. Zion I was just starting to feel again when she was ripped away. Whoever took Plum will pay.
I read the first 8 chapters in anthology last year and was really looking forward to this book. First, I didn’t know the story in the anthology was the beginning of this book but not a big deal. I was disappointed in this story for a number of reasons.
Spoilers after this point.
Plum is a doormat. Sister and husband cheat, she is kidnapped and beaten by ex and believes she was raped by him. She forgives them both immediately. Beck, who is undercover and abused her the worse - forgives him. Zion acts like a jerk and sleeps with another woman. Again, she forgives! Finds out she has a half-brother and welcomes him with open arms even given where he comes from and his role in her abduction.
The ones I like the best are Capone and Diablo.
The story has so many twists and turns. Just too much. Hope the next books are more clear and a lot less forgiveness on Plum’s part! Left with a mystery at the end
I got whiplash from this book. It was a hot mess Sometimes less is more DNF!!! There was so much going on. And it was as if the words were spewed across the pages… my head hurts
Man! who needs enemies when you have a sister and husband like what Plum HAD. Keyword-- Had. After the fateful day of coming home too soon Plum takes her son and leaves. She needs to put as much distance between herself and the media circus she is drawn into because of her sister's insta-celebrity status. Drive and Drive where you will land no one knows...the car decides Louisiana is far enough and a bed and breakfast ran by locals (local bikers that is) has a room for her and her son. Once you get to know the Bayou Knights as they are called you realize the whole hospitality thing they have going on actually makes sense. Zion. closed-off reserved....another good man ruined by a basket case of an ex-girlfriend. His friends tell him he needs to get back out there, but he doesn't want to fail...or lose his assets...again to a woman who changes her mind and leaves. Then he sees Plum. This story is a 3, maybe a 4, on the heat scale. intense and passionate bursts. BUT it is not just about that, it is about how one wants to be nice, loving, and caring in spite of people treating her badly. It is choosing to love again when you have been stomped on by a crazy lady. It is about family being what you make it. Not just by blood. I loved that Zion and Plum are mature, looking for love again --and deserving of it--, AND their sons are part of the story, not an afterthought. When you are a parent whether in California or Louisiana, your kid comes first.
Great start to a new series from author Cedar Roose. She might have started out in rough writing waters, but it seems that the ink is flowing a bit more freely now. It's time practice and growing that matures ones writing abilities. It seems that our Cedar Rose is growing!!
