Now an Amazon bestselling author, Sylvia Price is an author of Amish and contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She especially loves writing uplifting stories about second chances!

Sylvia was inspired to write about the Amish as a result of the enduring legacy of Mennonite missionaries in her life. While living with them for three weeks, they got her a library card and encouraged her to start reading to cope with the loss of television and radio, giving Sylvia a new-found appreciation for books.

Although raised in the cosmopolitan city of Montréal, Sylvia spent her adolescent and young adult years in Nova Scotia, and the beautiful countryside landscapes and ocean views serve as the backdrop to her contemporary novels.

After meeting and falling in love with an American while living abroad, Sylvia now resides in the US. She spends her days writing, hoping to inspire the next generation to read more stories. When she’s not writing, Sylvia stays busy making sure her three young children are alive and well-fed.

This is the third book in THE AMISH OF CARDINAL HILL series and it was a quick read. While not my favorite of the series it kept my interest throughout. There was a lot of illness and injuries that added darkness to the story. Especially when Iris used her mother's frailty as an excuse to sever ties with Iddo, a newcomer to their town who lives with his dad on a nearby farm.

Watching Iris and Iddo take a step forward and two or three back was heartbreaking. He was always there for her and she kept pushing him away except when his dad needed her help with some health scares he was having. The herbs and their uses were front and center and played an important role in the story as did family, their beliefs in God and neighbors who were always there to lend a hand.

The story had twists and turns and many storylines being woven together. I liked that other characters we've met had a small part in this story as well. There was closure and some unexpected happily ever afters for a few of the characters that left me with a more positive feeling. The cover is spot on.

This is book three in the series of THE AMISH OF CARDINAL HILL. The original book was wonderful and then Sylvia introduced us to three women who knew what they wanted out of life and charged ahead to get it. They had many obstacles during their quests but never gave up and refused to give in when things got rough. Several time they were expected to give up what they were doing in favor or becoming wife's, mothers and homemakers but knew they could be more and wanted to do it all. I once heard a saying that the men were the head of the household but the women were the necks and without the men knowing it they controlled the head. Women should remember this now a days it makes it much easier to get things done and accomplished. I so love Sylvia's books and can't wait to read more of them. Thank you Sylvia for sharing your talents with us to make our lives better.

I received an advance reader copy of The Herbalist's Remedy from the author.

Iris is a widow with a young daughter who has moved back home to care for her mother. Her mother is forgetting things and needs help at home and with her business. Iris meets Iddo, who also is helping to take care of his elderly father. Iris and Iddo get along well, but after some time, Iris decides to end the relationship. She does not believe she can have a relationship with Iddo because she does not want to burden him with the care of her mother.

When her mother gets worse, Iris convinces her mother to see a specialist. After her mother undergoes some tests, Iris receives the good news that her mother can undergo surgery and take medication. Iris and Iddo renew their relationship. They decide to take each day at a time and bravely face their future together.

I did enjoy this story! I enjoyed reading how Iris and Iddo showed compassion for their aging parents.

Iris Mast has not found herself, after the death of her husband. Not only a widow, but now a single parent....it is almost too much to bear. And to add to the chaos, in her life, her mother--the original herbalist--is now starting to suffer from early onset dementia. How much more can Iris bear....only God knows. Iris must now move in with her mother and start serving the community as their herbalist.

Iris has no idea how she is going to handle all that has come her way. Enter, a farmer, Iddo Yoder. Will he hold the keys to Iris' future or will they find each other too much for one another? Come to Cardinal Hill, Indiana and find out if there is a magic there or is it just an illusion.

Grab a comfy chair, a cool drink of herbal tea, a fragrant candle and while away the hours as you enter the world of an herbalist and a farmer....enjoy your time and don't forget to come back from Cardinal Hill!!

This was the final book in Sylvia Price's Cardinal Hill series and I am impressed by the author's dedication to research to get things right in this series. Though I have never been a beekeeper, I do make soap regularly and love to use herbal remedies. The author was quite thorough in both the soap recipes in the previous book and the uses for the different herbs in this one. She also did an excellent job in describing the anxiety of caring for someone with dementia even though Amelda's problem turned out to be something else. I could actually feel Iris' exhaustion with trying to take care of everyone and everything on her own.

Iris is a young widow with a small child. Her mother is the herbalist in the town of Cardinal Hill who has developed memory problems. Iris decides to move back in with her mother and open the herbalist shop. One day she meets a new customer Iddo who has an instant connection with her as he has lost his wife and small child recently. They become good friends and soon Iddo wants to help Iris but she refuses. She soon learns that he has overstepped his position and she decides she can handle things on her own. Will she be able to forgive him or will she have to keep going alone? I really enjoyed this book.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from Booksprout.co.
Great story!

I loved the main characters.
Iddo is immediately taken with Iris and her daughter.

Iris and her mom may be a bit prideful, but not in a boastful way. They want to do things on their own. They don't want to be taken care of as if they are children. Plus, Iris fears burdening someone else with her responsibilities.

Both ladies learn to share their burden when realizing that others want to help them do it.

Iris is learning to live as a widowed single mother, and taking over her mothers role as herbalist for Cardinal Hill, she doesnt get much time for herself. Iddo knows loss, but when he crosses paths with Iris, there is an instant connection, but can it become something more or is the fear of another loss to great to bare, and with Iris caring for not only her daughter but mother too? Well written Amish Romace, love after loss, great story with well developed characters and a great addition to the series.

A beautifully written Amish romance that centers around Iris Mast who is grieving for her husband, overcome by single parenthood, taking care of her mother who is battling early on-set dementia and assuming her mother's role as the community's herbalist. She meets Iddo Yoder who has recently moved to Cardinal Hill after losing his wife and young son in a fire. The Herbalist's Remedy definitely pulls on your heart strings as you become totally immersed in all that is happening in his quaint community. Ms. Price does her research as the books in this series show. This time it is the herbalist’s shop. Iris is a widow with a young daughter. She is now running the shop because of her mother’s early onset dementia. Her mother does not want treatment in the modern world. Iris is getting very tired with all the responsibilities she has. She meets Iddo, a young widower, but doesn’t feel she can move on with her mother’s condition deteriorating. This is a must read!
I received a copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

This book is a wonderful closure to this short series. Each book added interest in the characters in Cardinal Hill. It covers the third young woman’s life situations and ends with a thoughtful lesson that everyone could benefit from adopting and applying to their lives. Sylvia is an amazing author; she comes up with interesting stories and weaves in life lessons.
I did receive an ARC to read and a request for an honest review which I am glad to provide.

Iris's mother, Almeda, is having health issues, so Iris is having to take over doing everything in the herbalist shop. Iddo and his father have just moved to Cardinal Hill. He comes into the shop to get some peppermint oil for his father. Could this be a fresh start for Iris, since her husband passed away a year ago? What about her mother's health? These questions are answered in this story.

I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

Sylvia Price has done it again with another great book, "The Herbalist's Remedy". She reminds us that things are often not what they first appear to be and we need to ask questions and dig a little deeper to get to know the real situation. She helps us to look to God and trust Him to show us what to do when we are faced with difficult situations as Iris was with the health of her mother. A great book to read, especially if we are caring for a sick parent.

The death of Iris’ husband, Samuel, and having to return home to take care of her mother because of her memory problems, really causes a lot of distress. How is she ever going to have a life of her own? Finally, with outside help, she can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Nicely done. Great Series.

and the family stories continue.

many tragedies and joys seem to take place in Cardinal Hill. Memory loss issues are huge, especially in their impacts on families and especially with the complex challenges in addressing those issues

And of course, romance is always an issue as well

an intriguing look at coping with aging parents and second marriages - possibilities and problems

book 3 of the Cardinal Hill series( Iris' story). Main characters, Iris and Iddo have both lost spouses as well as the responsibility of caring for aging parents. Iris also has the care of her young daughter and the duties of community herbalist. The author does a good job of showing the frustration and anxiety of caring for a person diagnosed with dimentia, especially when she refuses to see a doctor.
Ms Price's stories are inspirational as well as encouraging.
