Rate this book
Unhappy with life in London, and with her love life a complete disaster, Ellie Chapman desperately needs a change. So when she learns she’s inherited a farmhouse perched high up on the cliffs above the English Channel, it feels like the perfect escape.

But ramshackle and dilapidated, and ruled by the world’s naughtiest donkey, Seabreeze Farm is not as picture
perfect as Ellie imagined. And then there’s brooding local vet Ben Hastings, who seems to make it his mission to make life on the farm even harder for Ellie!

With money tight, Ellie slowly rebuilds the tired old farmhouse. And as the farm comes to life under Ellie’s care, Ellie’s spark returns
too. Because as every day passes, Ellie begins to realise that there is something special about Seabreeze Farm, and there’s no other place she’d rather be.

This is the first book in a new series and I loved it. The descriptions of the donkey sanctuary and all the delicious cakes that Karen made me my mouth water. The characters were all likeable except Rupert whom I’d disliked from the beginning. Let’s hope that the last we see of him..or do we? I would love to read the next one in this series as I would love to know how things turn out. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Such a lovely feel good story. Even though it's a fictional story I was rooting for our main character. She is a bit down on her luck with more troubles than she can shake a stick at.
Then she realizes she has inherited a farmhouse with such a picturesque view. Now never mind that it is dilapidated and ruled by quite the rascally and stubborn donkey. Despite all the negatives she keeps plugging away and we see she makes it work. The author writes with such enthusiasm . The story was fun and so heartwarming to read.

A delightful start to a new series by Jo Bartlett, it ticks all the feel-good boxes and features rescue animals, lots of cake and a happy mother/daughter relationship.

As with all my reviews, I like to provide a trigger/content warning for sensitive themes. This book features stalking/harassment from an ex-boyfriend - whilst it is integral to the storyline it isn't the main focal point. This book also features very, very briefly animal abuse/neglect- its not hugely addressed but features when Ellie rescues a horse.

We first meet Ellie driving her beloved (and rundown car) where she promptly breaks down, gets fired and has to deal with a horrible insensitive boyfriend to top it off. This is heart-warming mother & daughter story of finding ways to overcome financial worries and making a happy new life with their menagerie of animals.

I am so looking forward to revisiting Seabreeze Farm, it has a lovely feel good, summery vibe to it and I enjoyed it immensely.

Oh this book! It is just what I needed to read this evening. Feel good story mixed with farm animals and a sweet love story or two mixed in and all the boxes are ticked for me! Not sure how I hadn’t read this author before now, but that has been guaranteed to change after this!
The story begins with Ellie driving her beloved Beetle and it breaks down in the most inconvenient place, which causes her to be late for a critical meeting, which causes her to be made redundant and when she tells her fiancé, she realizes that their relationship may not be on the best path either. Then, in a much needed bit of a break, her beloved Aunt leaves Ellie and her mother Karen, her farm, and they decide that it is just the change that they both need so they move to the farm and proceed to adopt a hodge podge of animals that no one else wants. And in the process, they strengthen their bond, find confidence in themselves and their dreams and find the love they’d both not even known they were looking for.
I came find one thing I didn’t like about this book. It was just lovely.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

With a job in the City that she hates, and her life driven by the plans of the fiancé she’s not sure she ever really loved, when Ellie unexpectedly inherits her great-aunt’s farm on a Kent clifftop it comes at just the right time. But it’s not quite the idyllic place of her fond childhood memories – when she walks away from her former life and decides to move there along with her mum Karen, they find the farmhouse in a poor state of repair, an unwelcoming neighbour, work that needs doing that will drain their meagre savings, and a neglected rescue donkey who needs the immediate attention of the local vet. But the pair take it all on, and Ellie soon knows that she’s made the right decision – together both she and Karen build their new lives and take on new challenges, become part of the community, make new friends, and both find romance in unexpected places. But there’s a cloud over their future success and happiness, when Ellie’s past begins to catch up with her and threatens to derail everything.

I have to say that I absolutely adored this book – I read it in one glorious sitting, and when I reached the end set it aside with a satisfied sigh. There was so much about it that I loved that I hardly know where to start… but I’ll begin with the people, with Ellie and Karen as the two main and particularly likeable and sympathetic characters with their lovely mother-daughter relationship, the wonderful vet Ben who becomes part of their journey (and thankfully waives his exorbitant fees), neighbour Alan who turns out not to be the miserable curmudgeon he appears to be at first, and the whole cast of beautifully drawn supporting characters. And then there’s the motley collection of rescued animals – every one of them a real character with their own story – alongside Karen’s delicious baking and Ellie’s developing plans for a new business to change the farm’s fortunes.

The romance in this book is simply perfect, quite beautifully done, with all the emotion and obstacles to overcome that I love – and I particularly liked the fact that the book didn’t only focus on the slow steps forward for Ellie’s relationship with Ben, along with their stumbles along the way, but also very satisfyingly explored the lovely and unexpected relationship that developed for her mother Karen. But then there’s the villain of the piece who’s hell bent on destroying their happiness – really well done, from the initial threat and uncertainty through to the edge-of-the-seat drama that develops.

The writing is quite superb – the setting is vividly described (you can feel the author’s love for the location), the emotional content perfectly tuned, the light humour really well-judged, and the whole story unfolds at a pace that’s essentially gentle but had me entirely involved throughout. And don’t worry about this being the first book in a series, there are no major threads left untied at the end – but I’m already looking forward very much to my next visit to Seabreeze Farm.

*I received a free ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*

I did enjoy Welcome to Seabreeze Farm and am looking forward to the next book in the series, but I didn't like it quite as much as the Cornish Midwife books. I liked Ellie and Ben and Karen and Alan but I just felt like something was missing. It's not always clear how much time has passed so sometimes it feels like things were coming together too quickly and easily for Ellie and Karen. And since you never really got a sense of how much money they had saved up and how much it was costing them to fix everything up you were never sure how dire their circumstances were. The relationship between Ben and Ellie comes about so quickly and easily I didn't feel like I got to watch them fall in love, it was more 'boom' they're in love. You got a little more of that with Karen and Alan which made for a very sweet love story between the two of them. I was a little surprised by just how awful Rupert turned out to be, it really makes you wonder how he had kept that side of himself secret for so long. I didn't understand why Ben was so worried that Ellie would eventually leave him after she had told him how much she hated what her life had become before coming out to the farm and had showed how much the farm meant to her. At least everyone else told him what a moron he was being and gave him the push he needed to make things right with her. I'm looking forward to the next book to learn more about Olivia. We get a nice little teaser of what is going on with her in the epilogue and I can't wait to get the full story!

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC of Welcome to Seabreeze Farm. This is my personal review.
Ellie needed a change after finding she did not get the promotion she was expecting at her job.
Then she discovers her aunt had left farm to her and her mother. They discover the farmhouse needs a lot more work than they anticipated.
But off they go and the characters in the story are great, and the farm animals add a lot.
I liked the story but wanted just a little bit more from it than I got.

Thank you Boldwood Books for the ARc to read and review.

This is another perfectly adequate romcom about a woman with a bad boyfriend, a dead end job, and dreams finally being released to pursue her HEA. She does this on a farm once owned by her beloved aunt.

No surprises, just no really exciting.

Lovely read! I think was my first book by Jo Bartlett and I will certainly be searching out her previous books. This book flowed so easily and I got so swept up in it that I was nearing the end before I knew it. Ellie and Karen are such lovely and relatable characters, I love their mother daughter bond. Seabreeze Farm is described beautifully and I could really imagine myself there, with a loudly braying donkey and all! Ben is an amazing character and I loved how he was just a perfect match for Ellie, but that he also had flaws himself that he was trying to work through. The community pulling together to help Daisy have her wedding was beautiful. I can’t wait to read more in this brand new series.

A new series by Jo Bartlett and it doesn't disappoint. Seabreaze farm is a rescue animal farm which was run by Karen's Aunt Hilary. She left it to Karen and here daughter Ellie who both come to love it also. There is romance in the offing from neighbour Alan and the local vet Ben but Rupert Ellie ex delights in making trouble for them all.

A fabulous start to a new series from this wonderful story teller.
Ellie living and working in London is hoping for promotion in an investment bank, engaged to Rupert they had a five year plan, then a big bomb shell, leaving her out of a job altogether, how is she going to tell him?
Her aunt Hilary has passed away and her and her mother Karen are now joint owners of Sea breeze farm in Kelsea Bay Kent a delightful farmhouse with a lot of work to be done are they biting off more than they can chew?
As we join them both settling in she knows Rupert will never think of moving here so she had to make a choice on the relationship especially as she has built up a friendship with Ben Hastings
Oh I adored this book so much, it's a fantastic start to a new series as we follow Ellie building up the farm, it captures a lot of emotions along the way and it's a far from easy one to take on. Taking a lot of determination but Ellie's heart is following on from her Aunt Hilary its was such a joy to read. I loved it all.

I absolutely love this author and was so excited for this new series and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I read it in practically one sitting and can’t wait for the next instalment. Was such a lovely refreshing escapism read.

This author always writes from the heart and her books are so much more than just romance as they have deep seated emotions and real life
Issues at their core. Welcome to sea breeze farm was the start of a journey of new beginnings and fresh starts for Ellie and her mum Karen and also a
Journey of self discovery for them both to find what they are really looking for in life.

It also had a real community feel about it and of everyone pulling together to make each other happy and for things to work out.

Can’t wait to see where the next book in the series takes the characters on their journey.

I absolutely loved this new book from Jo Bartlett. I’m already a fan of her Cornish Midwife series so was very excited to get stuck into another offering.
A great mix of quirky characters (and not all of the human variety) leads to funny, laugh of loud moments as well as heartfelt, tenderness and a little bit of drama of course.
Ellie and her Mum inherit the run down Seabreeze Farm and take their chance. Putting in a lot of hard work, taking risks and getting involved with their local community all help them get on their feet but will a certain mean spirited, jealous and money orientated ex cause too much trouble for Ellie.

An engaging read that I didn’t want to put down at all. A lovely story of new beginnings, making memories, showing kindness and following your heart.

What a wonderful start to a new series, I can’t wait to go back and see what happens next.

This is the first book of the new series from the amazing author Jo Bartlett . We have a lot of animals lke a donkey , a sheep named Holly Houdini , a goat and few others . Ellie just quit from her job after she lost a promotion . She is really disappointed because she hated her job . When the fiance learns about it he is displeased . When everything seems black she inherits her Great Aunt farm in Kent . While she has always loved the farm she has not realised how much work and money had to put to have everything work . She meets the local vet and a friendship starts . Even though she broke up with her fiance he is still around to cause trouble . I loved that her mother who had suffer all her life because of her husband finally found her happiness . Looking forward for the next book , I hope it will be about her best friend Olivia .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Having enjoyed the Cornish Midwife books I was excited to be approved for the first in a new Jo Bartlett series. This one focuses on Ellie and her mum who find themselves in charge of Seabreeze Farm and some surprise guests - not all of them housetrained! Enjoyed this and look forward to reading more in the series.

This is one of those novels that turns out exactly how you expect it to. For me that is fine, as when I read this type of novel, I usually want something simple that isn't going to make me think too much. Its a bit like sitting on a sunny beach, and letting the sea breeze ( no pun intended) wash over you, this novel washes over you in the same way, in a satisfying and comfortable way.

It's a nice story, with lovely characters and a good old fashioned baddie, it's not going to win a nobel prize, but it's quaint , nice and enjoyable.

Welcome to Seabreeze Farm is a delightful and sweet romance story that will leave you with a big smile on your face.

I love Jo’s The Cornish Midwife series, so I was super excited to read her latest book, Welcome to Seabreeze Farm. I adored this book, and I ended up reading it in one afternoon! It was a nice short read and checked off all those things that make a great romance book for me. Jo’s latest book is much lighter and fluffier than her Cornish Midwife series, which had me on an emotional roller-coaster ride. Welcome to Seabreeze Farm doesn’t dive into tough social or emotional issues; it’s just a sweet and wonderful love story.

Ellie and Karen (Ellie’s mom) end up inheriting an old farmhouse that used to belong to Ellie’s great-aunt, located on an animal sanctuary farm. They both realize that they need a change in their lives and decide to move to the old farm. Things don’t go as smoothly as they would like, and they soon learn that it will take a small community to save the old farm. There is a lot to love about this book. The setting, characters, and story blend nicely, and Jo adds enough drama and comic relief to keep her readers very happy and entertained.

Jo’s writing is smooth, and she was able to transport her readers to the lush coastal farm where Ellie lives. Using the animal sanctuary farm as the setting for this book was such a fab idea. Jo does a fantastic job transporting her readers to this lush and vibrant farm; I felt like I could feel that sea breeze on my face. The animals added a lot of joy and laughter to this story. I always love a book that is chalk full of adorable and mischievous animals.

This book was amazing and just what I needed. This brilliant life changing story made me feel so happy and that if this character could change her life for the better so could it. It was truly inspirational. Yes she is a fictional character but every has aspects of there life they wish they could change for the better and it inspired me to stop putting them off and do something about them. This book was one of them boy meets girl and they fall in love. But it was more than that. It was so heartwarming and felt special to me . The author wrote it with such beauty that made me feel so many emotions. I adored every second of this book. I connected with the characters so easy to love and relate to. It was such a believable story. I would definitely recommend this book to all romance fans. Also for those like me who have been reading some very heavy books recently or for those suffering from genre burnout. It really made me so positive and excited to read more books all over again. It kicked started me, reminded me of my love of books. So if your stuck in rut pick up this book and enough the ride . I will definitely be reading more books from this amazing author again.
So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this truly magical and inspirational story to put a smile on our faces, and return love to our hearts.

Ellie is a bit of a people pleaser, which means she is in a job she hates and in a relationship that is not as fulfilling as it should be. She unexpectedly loses her job, so this necessitates big changes.

Ellie and her mum Karen decide to settle in Aunt Hilary's rundown cottage, complete with various assorted animals!

I have to be honest, the descriptions of the setting of the cottage and the animals that Ellie and Karen care for, had me a little envious, as this is something I would have liked to do as well.

There is a sweet love story woven into this book and there is also a villain that you really do want to boo and hiss!!

All and all, this is a lovely, easy read and I was very excited to realise that this is the first book in a series, which means that, hopefully, we will visit with these characters again in another book (even if they are not the main event, so to speak).

4.5 stars from me.

What a wonderful escape to a lovely farm!
This is a heartwarming story about a women who is - after inheriting a farm - breaking out of her city life that is all about making money. She leaves her job behind and she leaves her fiancé behind. At the farm she finds country life and mister perfect.

This is an fast and easy read about a perfect world. Everyone is friendly and like each other. It's all about animals, flowers and beatiful cakes.
But then there is one vilain who threatens to destroy the paradise.

That's the one thing that I don't like that much about this book. It's pretty black and white. There's the good folks and the bad one. I would have prefered a conflict where all sides are somewhat relatable. The vilain in this story is pretty plain, he doesn't really have a reason to be or act like he does.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

How many of us have been a relationship like Ellie's? Her relationship with Rupert was not healthy or even loving. She felt stuck and so alone. She was emotionally abused.

Ellie was given an opportunity to make a major change in her life. With her mother's support, Ellie moved to Seabreeze Farm. She had no idea what she was doing and how she was going to do it. But this was her one chance to discover who she really was and what she want from life.

I loved the story and seeing Ellie bloom in her new life. She didn't allow the past to mess up her future. Well, she tried not to.

I received this book from Boldwood Books to review.

I really enjoyed reading this book, set on a farm for animals needing rehoming on the Kent coast, it's about Ellie and her Mum, Karen. They were left the farm by Karen's Aunt but it needed alot of work, could they do it?

Ellie was engaged but was it to the right person, especially as he isn't what he seems to be. Karen, a single Mum had always done her best by her daughter but she now needed someone to love her, could it be she found someone nearby?

Full of comedic animals, an escapologist lamb, a loud donkey and a pregnant goat.

A brilliant first book in a new series, I can't wait to read the second book.

Ellie loses her job but gains co-ownership of her aunt's former donkey rescue farm. She and her mother move out of the city and begin farm life, much to the chagrin of her fiancé. With the help of a local veterinarian, she is able to rehabilitate many animals and to begin a new life for herself. She uses her new opportunity to evaluate what she formerly considered important and improves her life in the meantime. The characters are genuine and intriguing. Such heartwarming story! After reading this book I have realised I need to read more of Jo's books as they are a really great read. This was such a comforting story about learning to trust again and what family and friends really mean to you. I wanted to be there and experience where it was set and meet all the wonderful characters that are involved in this book. I felt as though this was a perfect read to snuggle up with and it felt heartwarming and comforting to read. I need to work my way through Jo's other books as I know how much I would enjoy them.

What do you do when your life takes a turn for the worst? Well, you pack up and move of course. Ellie Chapman does just that to the farmhouse she and her mother inherit. Upon arrival Seabreeze Farms appears that she may have jump from the frying pan into the fire. Slowly she and her mother bring Seabreeze back to its former self with the help or not from a very naughty donkey and all of the other inhabitants. With the redemption of the farm, Ellie may just find hers as well. I look forward to the next in the series. Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy. A review was not required.

What a beautiful start to a new series, great location, wonderful storyline and fabulous larger than life characters. Ellie was an endearing character and I immediately liked her and her mother Karen. Seabreeze Farm sounds like a fabulous place even though it needs a lot of TLC and money spent on it. Alan “ Crabby “ Crabtree from the next farm and his godson Ben the local vet muck in to help and surprises are in store for both ladies. The cakes baked by Karen sound delicious, can’t wait to discover what’s next.

Unhappy with her life in London, Ellie Chapman is ready for change. And the change comes by way of a farm that she inherits high upon a cliff above the English Channel.

When she and her mother arrive at the dilapidated farm they run into a multitude of problems including a cheeky donkey, a rude neighbour and not to mention Ellie‘s ex-boyfriend scheming behind the scenes.

This is such a great start to a new series. I can’t wait for the rest to see what happens next.

A delightfully cozy read featuring likeable characters and a lighthearted romance. The setting makes the story for me and I loved being whisked away to the British countryside for this fun summer read. The old fixer-upper farmhouse and loveable animals were great touches that created a beautiful and heartwarming story. Highly recommend!
