When Avery Summers finds out the homeless outreach program where she volunteers is about to lose their building to a big developer, she’s determined to help. Unfortunately, she also has to juggle her job at a bakery, help her friend plan her upcoming wedding, and deal with a sudden flurry of dinner invitations by the bride’s cousin, a man she’d normally jump at the chance to date. It’s too bad he reminds her of the stepfather who abandoned her and her mother, causing Avery to be homeless as a child.
Handsome and charming Jason Morgan doesn’t appear fazed by Avery’s rejections and becomes a regular at the bakery where she works. When he asks her out yet again, Avery responds with a proposal she’s sure he’ll turn down—she’ll go out with him if he volunteers with her at the homeless outreach program. To her surprise, he agrees and part of Avery can’t help but be pleased. Maybe he’s not like her selfish stepfather, after all.
Sure enough, the more time they spend together, the more Avery’s convinced that Jason is more than his luxury sports car and designer suits. He seems to genuinely care about the homeless, and even agrees to help Avery hunt for long-lost tunnels dating back to the gold rush that—if they really exist—could save the outreach program’s building. Before the tunnels can be found, however, Avery’s dealt several devastating blows, including a shocking revelation that Jason works for the very developer that wants to tear the building down. Can Avery convince Jason to put his heart before his career? And will Avery find healing in forgiveness and second chances?

I love a story that proves that connections between people can truly happen on a deep level, regardless of similar social and financial situations. Avery and Jason are completely opposite in many ways, but are compatible in the ways that count. He's in town for his cousin's wedding (who just happens to be Avery's boss) and there is an instant bond that grasps them--especially for the very persistent Jason.
I love romance more than any other genre, but I love the story to have some deeper levels to it and this one delivers a fun, mild mystery to go along with Avery's passionate cause--helping a homeless program. This book is told from Avery's point-of-view and it's heartening to watch her discover that all of her preconceived notions may not be true.
In a sweet and gentle manner, this story swept me off my feet and kept me reading until I honestly couldn't keep my eyes open for one more second. True story--I woke up this morning to finish the book and only had 1.5 pages left. I was so close!

See? This is why I love Susan Hatler and list her as one of my favorite authors. She writes books that sit right in my sweet spot and make me happy. This one had lots of charged attraction and some yummy kisses along with a bit of intrigue to spice up the story. It was so fun!
The characters were so easy to love, with little effort on my part. The story moved along at a good pace and I was sad when it was over. I would have liked it to be a little bit longer but then I always say that with books that I love.
This was the perfect little romantic getaway to read. (polished it off in a day!)

This was a sweet (clean) fast read in the Wedding Whisperer series. Avery and Jason were opposites on paper but alike in the ways that are important once they let down their walls and opened up. I also enjoyed Avery's friendship with Melinda and both of their desires to give back to the community.

I loved this story about Jason and Avery. Avery cracks me up at the beginning of the story with her nonchalant look at a recent breakup. Also, I absolutely adore Jason. He is a sweet guy with a heart of gold. His hopes off winning over Avery is approached so beautifully. She’s a hard one to win over. I loved this story and the ending was perfect.

I really liked this book. It is an easy to read, entertaining story with great characters, and a lot of laughs. If you like a book with some romance and HEA ending, then I think you will enjoy this book.

This is book two of The Wedding Whisperer series and the main characters are Avery Summers and Jason Morgan. Avery works as the manager in Bernie’s Bakery, which is owned by someone who has now become her friend over the last year, Melinda, who bought the bakery from the previous owner and kept the name. Melinda is getting married in a couple of weeks to her fiancé Nate and has arranged for the wedding to take place on the roof of the bakery itself. Avery is completely anti-men at the moment and against marriage as well, but can’t help getting excited for her friend and has been asked to be her bridesmaid. Avery is down on her luck at the moment, after the apartment she was renting is being converted to condos and she couldn’t afford to buy it. This has left her with a housing issue, something that brings back the memories of being homeless after her stepfather left her mother and the two of them had to live out of a car for some time. She spends a lot of her spare time working for a homeless organisation called Founding Friendships, which are set up in building, giving people and families to live, learn new skills and have a safe place and make friends. She learns the building is under threat from a huge company, eager to knock it down and build expensive condos, without any consideration to who might already live there and what the building is used for. She gets this news on the same day a very handsome man pulls up in an expensive sports car and comes into the bakery. This is Jason and he is actually related to Melinda and there for her wedding as well as a bit of business. He is immediately struck by Avery and tries to ask her out and when she refuses, as she isn’t dating anyone at the moment, no matter how tempting he may be! When she refuses, he tries to at least get her number, but fails. It is only the next day she realises he is related to Melinda and will also be at the wedding in less than two weeks’ time, as the best man! His repeated attempts to get her to have dinner with him, finally give him a shock when she agrees to a friendly date, only so long as he comes and helps at the homeless outreach programs she loves to help at. He ends up making an immediate impression on some of the inhabitants and also some of the kids. He may have been in a designer suit, but was happy to get down and dirty, as well as soaked through to help with one resident’s emergency, as well as with painting one of the common rooms with a load of other volunteers and residents. News that all the residents will shortly be homeless in just weeks, throws everything into a bit of a panic and only some anonymous newspaper clippings hint at a possible solution. They report a series of old mining tunnels that are somewhere in the local park, adjacent to the Founding Friendships building, which if they can be found and proven to be under the building, could lead to the building being of historical importance and thus saved! Just as Avery starts to believe in the good of Jason and a possible closer connection, some shocking news comes to light and she has to either listen to his explanation, or break away now, before her heart can be broken. Jason works for the company that is buying the building and is obviously the reason he is doing business in the town before his cousin’s wedding and hasn’t told Avery any of this. She feels betrayed and refuses to speak to him any further, nor listen to why he hadn’t let her know about his true reason to be there. Why he had been so keen to help her out at the homeless program and try to get on an actual real date with her, was something she just can’t comprehend. They are clearly from two very different social standings and he has lied to her, reminding her of her stepfather and the misery that brought to her and her mother. She gets a lesson about love and the difficulties of a marriage, by the florist for the wedding, Katie Ellis, who herself lost her beloved husband the previous year, far too early and at a very young age. No marriage is ever perfect and there will be ups and downs, as well as arguments and annoying habits each must learn to forgive. A second chance will only work, if she is willing to forgive his actions and think about the other actions he did, to show his real side. He had his own past relationship woes, that led him to a career that wasn’t his true dream, and maybe she can help him decide what is really more important in life. She has experience of the lowest side of life having been homeless, whilst he has lived a well off life, with a highly paid career, but maybe not any true happiness in what he does. Getting a new outlook on life, from the experiences of others, can be a pivotal moment in deciding upon a new path for life and happiness. A charming story of some real life difficulties some face, but most have never experienced and how trust is so important in a relationship. But then, so is communication and the ability to be willing to listen to the other person. Some great life lessons in this story and a great romance and HEA ending. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This was a fun book to read. It’s about Avery and Jason. These two come from very different backgrounds and yet they feel connected somehow. Avery is a very devoted and giving person. She volunteers her time to help the homeless and goes out of her way to show consideration to others. Jason is a swoon-worthy character. He is kind and patient, not flashy with his wealth at all (well, other than the fact that he drives a Ferrari!). The story, told from Avery’s POV, shows how she accepts who she is, where she came from, and when she will finally think of doing something for herself for once.
To me the most interesting thing about this story was how much Avery didn’t want to fall in love, which is opposite most romances you read. So you have Avery fighting tooth and nail against her attraction to Jason and Jason patiently wearing down her resolve to not date him. It was hilarious reading about the little things that gave away how she was falling for Jason, like wearing a silly grin while making smiley faces with the cinnamon roll icing.
I love this series, The Wedding Whisperer. Each book has a beautiful gem of wisdom about love and marriage. I really appreciated this one because it’s so true that often we expect perfection in our relationships. The ‘wedding whisperer’ gives some sage counsel to Avery that everyone should remember. But I don’t want to give it away, you have to read it to find out what it is!
A great little book and a sweet romance. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. However, this review is voluntary and my honest opinion.
My review today is on a delightful romance, The Wedding Catch. This is the second book in the Wedding Whisperer Series. I really enjoy Susan's books; they are well written, humorous, and heartwarming. I know you are going to love it.
Avery Summers has just broken up with her boyfriend, lost her home, and now her boss, her best friend is getting married in two weeks. Could things get any worse. Then a gorgeous man pulls up in the parking spot in a beautiful red convertible Ferrari. When he came in the bakery he asks her out. She turned him down of course but she isn't sure why she has a no date policy now. Is this guy for real? How can you trust a man who is perfect?
Jason Morgancomes to his cousin's bakery. He is blown away by the sad beauty that manages the place. He asks her out immediately but she turns him down. That just increases his attraction to her. How can he reach her? He sets out to win her over but will his job stand in the way?
A journey of restoration that brings to broken souls together. They are not perfect people but are perfect for each other
The Wedding Catch by Susan Hatler is book Two in The Wedding Whisperer series. This is the story of Jason Morgan and Avery Summers. I have not yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book. Avery had a very tough time of it from the start, but it doesn't stop her from wanting to help others. Her biggest softness is for the homeless since that hits home for her. But she is just a nice person to everyone and works hard to run her bakery, in addition she is working on helping with a wedding. Jason has been working to get Avery to go out with him and see him for something other than the money he has...that he is a good person too. Avery has a new mission to save the homeless shelter so when Jason tries again to have her go out with him, she throws down the option to help her at the homeless shelter. Then she gets him to start helping her save the shelter until she finds out who is really wanting the shelter. This is my first book but this author....but I hope to read more since I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Avery Summers is a bakery manager and volunteers at a homeless shelter. Her heart was broken not long ago so she has sworn off men. She’s helping Melinda with her wedding, trying to find a place to live, and upgrading the homeless shelter. She meets Jason Morgan, Melinda’s cousin. Jason happens to work for the developer who wants the building that contains the homeless shelter. These characters couldn’t be more different, but as time goes by find they have things in common. Will these two get their happily ever after? Can Avery save the homeless shelter? You will need to read the book to find out. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it.

I enjoyed this new sweet, clean romance from Susan Hatler. The differences between Avery and Jason's lives keep her at arms-length distance at first, but you can't help but fall for all of his efforts to "woo" Avery. When a secret between them comes to a head, there is a choice to make. Will forgiveness and love prevail? I flew through this book, as I have most in this series, because they are so easy to read and just make me want to gobble up the stories. Susan Hatler still remains one of my favorite authors to read because regardless of the book length, she's always able to suck me into whatever romance is happening!
Avery is devastated to learn that a new development project is set to displace the homeless outreach program she volunteers for. She joins forces with Jason, her friend's cousin in town for a wedding. After an anonymous tip, Avery and Jason go searching for a series of old gold-mining tunnels that could have the building declared a historical landmark. But where did that tip come from? Does Jason know more than he's telling?
This book has an intriguing mystery plot to go along with the flirty romance and relatable characters. Avery expects the worst, but Jason is such a great guy, he surprises her at every turn. This is a fun read that will put a smile on your face.
Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Avery doesn't believe in a happy marriage and it all started when she was kid. Her mum had been married to her stepdad but then when her parents were having a tough time and ended up divorcing her stepdad just left. She never got calls from him or saw him again. Her mum ended up getting married and getting divorced like it was some sort of crazy obsession.
This was extremely hard for her and on top of it she became homeless!
Now, she is currently homeless while staying at the bakery. She obviously has trust issues but who could blame her? She also doesn't believe in a happy marriage and again you just can't blame her for thinking that way.
Then she meets Jason who seems a little unrealistic to me. He doesn't really seem to have any faults except the fact that he does lie to Avery about who he works for but I would have loved to see more in depth character especially when he started to confide in Avery about wanting to be a biology teacher.
With this being a Susan Hatler book they all must end in happily ever afters and that is exactly what happens. :)

I truly enjoyed reading this book! The Wedding Catch is an delightful & feel good romance. Wonderful characters & romance makes the perfect read. Avery is done men & dating. She can just take so much disappointment. Then in walks a mystery man with a gorgeous pair of blue eyes. Jason is in town for his cousin's wedding, Avery's boss. She turned down for a date, but Jason wasn't giving up that easy. Avery & Jason steal your heart from the very first pages to the last. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
Fun and Funny Clean Romantic Comedy This is the second book in a clean Rom-Com series. The story keeps the reader totally engaged. All of the stories of the series feature the same characters, but can easily be read individually. In this story, our heroine needs to overcome some serious baggage to open herself up to love and life. While the ending is not a surprise, getting there is. This is a high-quality, laugh-out-loud book that you have come to expect from this author. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprout and this is my honest review.
The Wedding Catch was a quick, clean read for me. I enjoyed it, loved the characters, but have one silly question to other readers: When will heroes and heroines figure out that withholding information will always get them in trouble? Probably no time soon as there wouldn’t be stories out there for us to read.
Avery has taken over managing Bernie’s Bakery for her friend Melinda (we met her in previous stories; not necessary to read but oh so fun!) and is really quite…stuck in her assessments of men and relationships overall. She is in NO hurry to get serious about any guy so in walks someone Melinda knows…Jason. Throws a huge monkey wrench into Avery’s plans. Jason is another nice guy but he has some “issues” that he has to work through, too.
Avery and Jason make a great team – Avery does so much for other people, especially those in need – and she goes that extra mile for her friends. What she needs is someone to do that for her, and Jason does that, imho. These two are great together and once they work thru the obstacles in front of them? They are adorable!
This is book 2 in The Wedding Whisperer. I love books about weddings and happily ever after’s, this book delivers both! Avery is a busy bakery gal. She also has walls built up to protect her heart. Jason pursues her and is determined to break them down. There are some feelings of betrayal but also so much humor and they eventually get their happily ever after. You get a little bit of everything in this book. I highly recommend any of Susan Halter’s books.
Avery working at a bakery is to be bridesmaid at Melinda's wedding. Having fallen on hard times now and in the past Avery spends her free time helping out at a homeless shelter. Jason, Melinda's cousin, comes to town for the wedding and the attraction between him and Avery is instant. A sweet story with some fun and poignancy. Read an ARC for an honest review.
This the second book in this series, we met Avery she is quite busy working, volunteering and help to plan a wedding. However Jason keeps asking her out after many rejects she finally decides to make him a deal. When they star spending time together she starts to fall for him only to realize that he works for the company that is trying to demolish the shelter she works at.

I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. This author continues to write some of the funniest stories. This book is no exception. Swearing off men is first on her list and trying to forget the bad dates and bad men is next. I loved this book and couldn’t put it down.
This is the second book in the Wedding Whisper Series. You'll enjoy Avery and Jason's story. They're from opposite social backgrounds but are so alike in many ways and seem to connect. The story is told from her pov and she soon finds out that many of her preconceived thoughts are not true. Because of her stepfather's abandonment of her and her mother she doesn't have good feelings about rich people. Avery's boss is Jason's cousin and they meet at her wedding. They have an immediate connection but she misjudges him because he's rich. He continued to woo her and didn't let her rejections stop him. They were wonderful characters and the story line was sweet. Some drama when his employment comes into the picture. This was a cute, easy read that makes you feel goo,. I read a free book via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it. A great addition to the series.
Adored this laugh out loud, sexy, fun and action packed adventure filled with engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing moments and slow burning passion. Heartwarming and fun journey from beginning to end, so hard to put down once you start down the heartwarming small-town path. Great reading
This story about Avery and Jason was so sweet and fun with a bit of adventure thrown in. The characters were real- dealing with real feelings and real problems. I loved reading their sweet HEA story!

This is the story of Avery and Jason. They have teamed up to save the local homeless shelter. These two are so endearing and great together. They have amazing chemistry and I was very entertained by this sweet romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Avery and Jason meet at a wedding but he definitely wants to continue. He keeps asking for a date when he finds her working at a bakery. She keeps refusing because of her backstory with rich guys leaving. When he agrees to help her at the homeless program, she starts to soften her defenses until she finds out he works for the company that is trying to take the programs building. The characters are terrific, with intense feelings, drive and great backstories. The storyline has drama, comedy, surprises, determination, and steam. Loved the chemistry when the walls finally come down between them. Great ending.

Susan Hatler has written another heartwarming novel! This book focuses on Avery, dedicated at keeping a homeless shelter open (after she was homeless as a child) which has been targeted by a developer, and Jason, who agrees to volunteer at the homeless shelter for a date with Avery. Their relationship strengthens as Avery gets to know Jason better, but what will she do when she discovers Jason is actually employed by the developer. I highly recommend this fun and heartwarming novel which has relationship obstacles as well as sizzling chemistry and romance.
