BRYCE:
I'm the guy the entire team loves to hate. Not only am I one of the Sockeyes' best players, but I make sure everyone knows it. No woman has ever held my heart until I meet Tia. She's everything I am, gorgeous, rude, arrogant with a capital 'TUDE, and we're both concealing soul-shattering pain. Together we're fire and ice, a combo I can't resist and one that has me worried I've finally succumbed to the worst four-letter word in the English language--LOVE.

TIA:
After my mother's tragic death, I've lashed out and driven away everyone who ever cared about me. The pain is so great, I feel I don’t deserve friendship or love. Along comes Bryce. We're kindred spirits. He's as damaged as I am. Out of our grief, something special begins to sprout, but our tendency to destroy anything good in our lives threatens the best thing that's ever happened to us. Only Bryce refuses to give up on us while I'm finding old habits die hard and barricading my heart is easier than opening up and risking being hurt again.

Slapshot was such a good read. It's definitely one of my favourite Jami Davenport's work.

Bryce is Sockeyes' best player but he is a selfish player and the coach put him on the third line. He wants to go back up on the first line, the place he thinks he deserves, but to make it he has to become a team player. Tia is a socialite but since her mother's death she lost her liveliness and pretty much she lost all her friends. They meet at a party and after a first rejection from Tia they abandon themselves to their passion, but they are too alike to have more than a one-night stand, or at least this is what they think.

I really liked Bryce and Tia together. They are passionate, they have a good chemistry, they are smokin' hot, but they also see deep into each other soul and they understand each other's vulnerability.
It was a pleasure to see them changing with the help of the other, they were rude and selfish at the starts and they slowly become friends to end being the rock of each other.
They aren’t so nice with others, but I was glad to see that in the end they start to work on it.

I highly recommend this book because it has it all, feels, suspense and chemistry.

4 star Review Slapshot (Scoring #8) by Jami Davenport

This was a good addition to the Scoring series and although not my favourite it was an entertaining story that ticked a number of boxes for me. I had a hard time relating to Bryce and Tia, they are alike in so many ways and certainly rubbed people up the wrong way.
Both Bryce and Tia are in a world of pain and constantly take it out on those around them. Their grief brings them together and they are soon moving towards a relationship, that is if Tia doesn’t sabotage it before it gets a chance. I liked that Bryce was determined to move their relationship forward and refused to give up even when Tia went on the attack.
There were moments when I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading and wasn't sure that they would get the happily ever after that they both deserved.

I liked Tia (heroine) and her redemption arc. I liked that even though she was lashed out and treated others like shit, she woman-ed up and apologised, tried to make it up to the people she hurt and swallowed her pride to make things right. It’s always so hard to apologise when you’re in the wrong (so fucking hard!) so I always admire people who can do that. Something I still have to work on sometimes 😬😆

Bryce on the other hand proved to be an unrepentant dick. I hated the way he treated Camden. Even though C dropped everything to help him at the end. Bryce’s turnaround was a case of too little too late that hurt Camden’s career. Hated that Bryce gets to continue living his best life on the team he’s on, with his girl, while Camden’s future is uncertain…which Bryce could have easily changed that outcome. Especially after everything Camden did to help him get Tia back.

And Tia’s father is the other reason I can rate this higher than 2.75 stars. I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that for the first 85% of the book, he didn’t seem to give a shit about his daughter. And he never seemed to give a shit about the fact that his (late) wife (Tia’s mother) was dead. He put another woman above his own child - the same woman who treated his daughter like shit and allowed that woman’s son to terrorise his own daughter (apparently he didn’t know but he should have!) - and then suddenly acts like a completely different man…to which Tia instantly forgave him. Sorry but no. I get he apparently didn’t know what Crystal (his new wife) and Ivan (Crystal’s son) were planning, but a good father isn’t that fucking blind. I needed him to face some consequences, like have him work for a good relationship with his daughter. Instead it’s all instant forgiveness. And if there’s one thing I hate more than a celibate heroine teamed with a non-celibate hero in a second-chance romance, it’s characters who face zero consequences for shitty actions 🙄😔

Still, I liked Tia enough to keep reading, so the rating is for her character alone.

(Note: I really hope this review makes sense. I’m typing it out on my phone, it’s 1am, and I’m in serious need of sleep 😴)

I didn’t like seeing how Bryce was so uncaring with his teammates and always acted so in your face like he was the best. He had some issues from his childhood he had never faced. When he meets Tia, she has the same arrogance and I don’t care about anything like he does. He sure knew she was hiding some deep feelings and problems as they were so much alike. I was glad that she made him work hard just to get a date out of her. You can just hear the evil that her dad’s fiancé has and the hatred towards Tia. I couldn’t believe how blinded her dad was. Even Bryce could see her evil and how she was after Tia’s father’s money. I loved how protective Bryce was towards Tia. They both had some feelings they needed to sort out to be any good for each other, and the people they came in contact with. Something horrible happens and I was on the edge of my seat to see how it was going to work out. This is a great book that I strongly encourage you to read. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

“Slapshot” is an emotional, steamy hockey romance with some important life lessons thrown in.

Bryce is one of the top players for the Sockeyes but his attitude is poor. Deciding he needs to learn a lesson, Coach knocks him down to the third line. Bryce is a known ladies man and meets a fiery redhead named Tia, who shoots him down instantly. Since that never happens, Bryce uses whatever people connection they have to win her over. Tia has an extremely high and thick wall built around her after mother passed away and he takes on a new wife shortly after. But as we get to know these two, we find out about their past and that links them together.

At first I was put off on how Bryce and Tia were acting but they quickly won me over once we got to the root of why they acted a certain way. Both had been through some tough things that led them to be brass, to the point and not want anything from others. I did empathize with them more once I learned all of that. Bryce is a protector overall and a good guy. Tia was definitely spoiled but learned some things about herself that redeemed her. Jami added a suspenseful plot twist that I wasn’t expecting and I loved it. It added so much to the story and helped round out these two. As always, I look forward to the next book.

This is a wonderful addition to the Scoring Series and from the moment I picked up Slapshot I was drawn into Tia and Bryce’s journey, I was captivated and kept on the edge of my seat throughout this entertaining and emotional read.
Bryce and Tia are opposites, he is a star hockey player who is selfish and arrogant when it comes to the game he loves and she is a socialite trying to find her own way after losing her mother but the one thing they have in common is the passion they have for their careers, his is hockey and hers is riding and competing with her show horses. They meet at a party and sparks fly but it was only meant to be one night ….. so what happens when they decide one night us not enough. One click to find out.
What starts off as two selfish people only interested in themselves soon turns into so much more as they give into love. It’s not long before the friends start to become each other’s rocks, they learn from each other’s mistakes and they realise that in life you can’t be rude and nasty to the everyone around you because when it comes to the crunch we all need friends…..
This is a great read that ticked my boxes.

Slapshot: A Seattle Sockeyes Hockey Romance was the eighth book in the Scoring series by Jami Davenport. Although enjoyable, it was not necessary to read the series in order.

I have taken a break from formal reviews for a while, but a couple quick thoughts: I enjoyed the suspenseful storyline. I also enjoyed that they had a hidden personality under all their baggage. I liked the characters (Tia/Bryce) - even more as they addressed their issues, but Bryce really could be a dick to his teammates and that was hard to take. I wanted a little more depth into their conflicts but I totally enjoyed them as well as the outcome. All in all, it was a quick, suspenseful and entertaining read!

What a great story! It was a steamy, emotional roller coaster ride with twists and turns you won’t see coming! Bryce and Tia both have their own problems they have to deal with. Bryce’s problems are with hockey team and Tia’s with her father and his evil wife. Together they maybe able to work through them. Slapshot grabbed me from the first page and I couldn’t put it down! It was a wonderful story was of learning to trust, letting down walls and loving each other. I loved it!

Bryce believes he is the number one player on the ice and off, so talks about it all the time. So he is horrified when he is moved by the coach to the third line. If he wants to go back on the first line he needs to show he has become a team player. He is not sure he is ready to do that yet. Especially when Tia shoots him down the first time, something he has never happened before. He is going to have to actually put some work in and that can mean looking at his past and why he truly has the attitude.

Tia might seem to have the perfect life but it is far from it in true reality. She recently lost her mother which shook up her world. Plus she is dealing with a woman who is about to become the horrible gold digging stepmother and got fired from her job doing the one thing she loved, horses. She doesn’t want to a relationship at all, but Bryce might change her mind if he continues to work his way into her heart.

Bryce and Tia are definitely two interesting characters. They are arrogant but lost. This couple is electric from the start, you can tell they have chemistry. But to succeed as a couple they both need to work out what has happened in their past. The question is are the both willing to take a chance and actually try at something they are not used ot.

This is the 8th book in the Seattle Sockeyes Scoring Series. I will say honestly I had a hard time getting into this book at first. I needed to continue past the first few chapters for it to really grab my attention. Once past that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely one to add to your collection. As an added bonus it is one that can stand by itself or read as part of the series. Can’t wait to see what Jami comes up with next.

Slapshot is the eighth book in Jami Davenport's Scoring series. It took me a long time to get into this one for some reason and I'm still not quite sure why that was. Overall it was a good book.

Bryce is one of the best players on the Sockeyes team, but he's arrogant, self-centered and he's not always a team player. He's also not one that has any intention of being in a relationship. He likes women, but he's more of a one and done kind instead of finding one woman. When he meets Tia, she seems to send him into a tailspin, one he's not looking for or expecting.

Tia has just recently lost her mother in an unexpected accident and she's also lost her way a bit. She's trying to figure out where she fits, but she's struggling with finding her place, but also with her relationship with her Dad due to his new fiancee, who has it out for her. Tia isn't looking for any kind of connection with a man outside of between the sheets, but once she meets Bryce, she may not have a choice.

Bryce and Tia are alike in many ways. They both are struggling with things in their lives and they are solace for one another, more than either of them ever expected. Will they be able to make something work or will their demons get the best of them?

As I said above, I enjoyed this one, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I struggled with it in parts and also felt like parts of it that were very predictable. It was a quick read and a good addition to the series.

I am a big Jami Davenport fan, but I really struggled to continue reading this story. Tia and Bryce were both extremely difficult characters for me to feel any sympathy or affinity. They both had tremendously painful backstories that they used abrasive attitudes and extremely negative comments to shield their inner brokenness.

At about the 25% mark I decided to give it just one more chapter and if I wasn’t ‘into’ the story then I was done. I’m truly glad I stuck with it and continued reading, because together Tia and Bryce balanced out each other, slowly healed the brokenness and became much more relatable and enjoyable characters.

Tia’s situation with her evil stepmother was beyond horrific. Her dad is totally snowed by his new wife and her caustic treatment of his daughter.

I loved the character Agnes and hope she continues to be an honorary member of the WAG crew in future books.

Bryce’s evening talks with Puckster the stray cat were fantastic. His relationship with the cat was one of the few elements of the story that kept me engaged in the first portion of the book. I thought if this guy can have feelings for a stray cat then hopefully there is more to him than all this crappy attitude and negativity. Thankfully this proved to be true.

I received a free ARC from the author and Elle Woods PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Jami Davenport lights the lamp in with SLAPSHOT (Scoring #8). This is Bryce Wilcox’ and Tia Park’s story. Bryce and Tia were the jerks/the bad guy in previous books. I love that we hear their story, getting their viewpoint, and discover why they acted as they did. The two are perfect for each other, recognizing a damaged soul; both put-up defenses to prevent themselves from getting hurt.

Bryce plays for the Seattle Sockeyes. He is a puck hog. He comes off as cocky and conceited. Tia comes off as a spoiled rich/mean girl. She shows horses. She used to ride at Cedrona Farms with Sockeye wives Avery (MELTING THE ICE, Seattle Sockeyes Hockey #3) and Blaire (DELAYED PENALTY, Scoring #7). She was asked to leave because of her attitude.

Jami Davenport does a great job with the story. She changes your mind on your original opinion of the characters. My heart went out to Bryce and Tia for what they endured. SLAPSHOT was skillfully written and attention grabbing. I couldn’t put it down, reading it in one day. I’m looking forward to Banks Slater’s story next. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

4 ⭐️ the ice melts when these get together

This book tugs at the heartstrings. Jamie has written a story that drew me in from the first page. Her characters were hard to love at first, but as the story unfolded I was cheering for them both.
Tia is a sharp tongue shrew rebuffing all attempts for people to get close to her. Her mother recently passed and her father quickly remarried. Her new stepmother is poisoning her father against her and she has no one to turn to until Bryce.

Bryce, the consummate hockey playboy, love them and leave them has made no friends on the team. Yea, he’s got talent, but isn’t a team player. He has never been good enough even though he has made it to the big leagues. Once he sees Bryce he immediately wants her. She becomes his challenge. He soon recognizes behind her sharp tongue, striking out like a cornered cat, she is as broken as he is and maybe they can heal each other. Can Tia help Bryce find his place on the team? Can Bryce make Tia feel valued? The fire between them blazes hot as Tia’s ice melts and Bryce heats up his game both on and off the ice. Slapshot is a great addition to the Sockeye franchise.

Bryce Wilcox, 22 plays for the Seattle Sockeyes hockey team and the guy no one on the team likes. He is cocky, showboats and has an attitude and doesn't know how to be a team player and has been put on the third line which he hates. He meets Tia and she's the female version of him. She's got an attitude, is arrogant and basically has no friends and everyone that cared about her has been chased away after the death of her mother.
Tia and Bryce are so much alike and begin to spend time together but both have a tendency to destroy anything good that comes into their life but Bryce won't give up. She is happier when she's with him but can it last? And let's not forget the family issues they are dealing with.

"We're two damaged souls who aren't so damaged when we're together, and I'm not sure how to take that."

This is the eighth book in this incredible story, which is Bryce and Tia’s story. Bryce is the Sockeyes best player, but his attitude and selfishness has him being moved into the third line, which has him determined to redeem himself and prove he can become a team player. Tia is a socialite who has just lost her mother, and with her persistent lashing out at her friends and those dear to her, she has hardly anyone in her corner now. Bryce and Tia cross paths at a party, and even though she rejects his charms, they slowly start to bring out the best in each other. This is a well written story which has undeniable chemistry, vulnerability, emotions, redemption, passion, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I loved catching up with the Sockeyes!

Hockey player Bryce Wilcox has all the talent in the world and he makes sure everybody knows it but he’s skating on Seattle’s third line because he isn’t a team player because he would rather get the goal than pass to another player. But meeting Tia Parks may help to shake up his attitude because she is broken as he is because they don’t believe anyone can love them.

Many times when a romance has characters that are broken they tend to be really dark but Jami Davenport shows the reader that Bryce and Tia are better together and help each other out and learn to be a better person with the help from others.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and Elle Woods PR. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow, great story with a bit of a mystery! I loved it! 5 hockey stars for this one!
When Bryce spots Tia across the room at a function, he and his cockiness strut their way over thinking he's a sure thing for her, but she knocks him down better than any woman ever has! It's priceless! Normally he'd let it slide right off him but there is just something about this woman that intrigues him. He continues to persist until he wears her down!
Tia is in hell, she lost her mother, her fathers new girlfriend hates her and makes it well known, except in front of her father. When Bryce starts to show her that she is lovable, things start to look up for her, and she realizes she's happy again, if only she could get her father to see that side of her and love her again.
This story was amazing! I didn't want to put it down! Grab this one asap!

Tia is a spoiled little rich girl on the outside, but a hurt and vulnerable woman on the inside. She had her heart broken by loss and took it out on others. I love how Bryce saw who Tia was past her outward persona. He gets her to open up and gets her to a point that she wants to do better and fix the damage she did. Bryce, seeing how Tia is truly trying to better herself, finds himself confronted with his own criticisms and decides to actually listen and do better himself. When love is on the line, we will do anything for the other person even if we need to change ourselves a bit for the better. A really great book about loss, and self examination.

He’s a hockey phenom and he knows it! He’s a puck hog too and everyone else sees it. But making himself look good is his main concern so that he can get that big contract extension! He’s also pretty much a man whore, scoring with the puck bunnies. Until he meets Tia, a gorgeous sexy redhead who refuses to fall for his charms. But that just makes Bryce try harder!
A great story about two young people who despite having the world at their fingertips, are so badly damaged by their pasts. But they are drawn to one another, and that could be their saving grace.
Another great Seattle Sockeyes Hockey book by Jami Davenport. If you love hockey, strong women, and hot hockey players then you need to read this book!

SlapShot is book eight in Jami Davenport‘s Scoring Series. We meet Bryce Wilcox & Tia Parks two people who seem more alike but both for different reasons.
Bryce is the cocky hockey player that thinks he’s all that but his teammates are getting fed up with it.
Then there is Tia a woman whose whole life has been turned upside down and the only way she feels she can deal with it all is to lash out.
When Bruce & Tia meet you can’t help feel the chemistry but the two of them have a lot of baggage between them. Watching them find the trust in the other is such a fantastic thing to see and what you hope
Is that the the two of them can heal each other and find a HEA they both truly deserve.

Loners, family trauma, evil step mother, hot hockey players, and amazing spice! So we have loved to hate both the leading characters in past books. I was worried that they wouldn't be able to be redeemed and I wouldn't fall in love with them. I really had no worries. Their back stories are amazing, along with their character growth. I love how they grew as people separate, and together. And how they supported each other through the process.

This book can be read as a stand alone, you will just know more about the secondary characters if you have read the other books. But once you read this you will want to read the rest of the series! And we even get a peak at the next leading man!

This story kept me reading, wanting to see how it turned out. Two very broken people found each other, fought their feelings, but managed to begin the healing process as they fell in love. There was some strong chemistry, lots of misunderstandings, and protective walls erected to keep their hearts from being hurt more. There were happy moments, sad and teary moments, and some slightly dangerous moments. This book is well worth the read.

I received a copy through Elle Wood Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

Slapshot🏒

Slapshot is the eighth book in the Seattle Sockeyes series and features Bryce our resident Puck Hog and Tia, the girl who lost her mom and is in a perpetual bad mood😒

This story is the one I’ve been waiting for, especially trying to get to know these two characters better as I found them very closed and standoffish in previous books. My heart broke for this couple but I was so excited to see their journey and a healing one at that💔 I’m hoping we get a book for Camden in the future as I feel his journey still needs to reach its destination😁

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Bryce and Tia are so much alike it’s uncanny. Both beautiful yo look at, surly, mean and determined to shove people away. What they also found is they gave both vern deeply hurt by their families and struggle to trust. Thing is when Bryce notices Tia he can’t get her out of his head. They both recognize the hurt and loneliness in one another. Slowly with time they begin to spend time together and it is healing. Though many incidents push them toward seeing themselves as others do it is all for the best in the long run. Really enjoyed!

Everyone kept on warning Bryce about Tia. They were insistent in her not being the right one for him. They have more in common then anyone would have thought. He brings out the better person in her and she does the same for him. Tougher they are where they’re supposed to be. They get their happy ending indeed.
