Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow returns with a hilarious office romance where two archenemies who drive each other crazy pretend they're madly in love.
Strange men do funny things when you score the last cinnamon roll. Sometimes he rages about the high crime of jacking his precious pastry. Sometimes he offers you ludicrous bribes to buy it back. And sometimes—after shattering your faith in humanity—you find out he's your new boss.
I'm not laughing. My sweet tooth betrayed me and Lincoln Burns is one bad sugar rush. A coldhearted grump. A mile-wide ego. An eligible bachelor who doesn't “do” dating. Did I mention Mr. Congeniality runs a fashion empire with weddings in its sights? Of course he does. And, of course, weddings make me gag after my ex made my heart roadkill.
Every instinct I have screams run. But money talks, and Lincoln's deep pockets roar. One big fat bonus proposal lures me into his world. Somehow, our vicious fights become vivid flirting. His secrets thrill me in the worst ways.
Then he makes a second proposal. Pretend we're engaged. Smile for pretty photos like we're soulmates. Dress up like we're actually getting married. Oh, how I wish cinnamon rolls came with warnings. It's all sticky sweet heaven until you catch feelings for the bossman from hell...
Full-length enemies-to-lovers romance loaded with uh-ohs. Office banter, pastry mischief, slow-burn spice, plus one bossy suit who might stop stomping around long enough to realize he's falling hopelessly in love.
Nicole Snow is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author. She found her love of writing by hashing out love scenes on lunch breaks and plotting her great escape from boardrooms. Her work roared onto the indie romance scene in 2014 with her Grizzlies MC series.
Since then Snow aims for the very best in growly, heart-of-gold alpha heroes, unbelievable suspense, and swoon storms aplenty.
Current fan favorites include her Enguard Protectors series, accidental love novels, plus long beloved MC romance thrillers like the Grizzlies and Deadly Pistols.
Honestly not worth the read. Wayyy too long, like 300 extra pages too long.. the amount of tropes as well.. like pick one. There was enemies to lovers, fake engagement, “she deserves more than me”, “I’m not good enough for a hot billionaire ceo”, and so much more.. and don’t get me started on the pop culture references.. or the fact that the author clearly sat with a thesaurus and swapped the most random words out for words I swear I thought were typos because I have never seen them in my life. All in all the only reason I finished this book is because I was bored and momma didn’t raise a bitch lol anyways yeah don’t waste your time with this one folks. Edit: I also need to add, the MC writes poetry and I swear on my life it’s the worst thing I’ve ever read in my life and the dude acts like it’s the most amazing thing lmaooooo horrible.
So this is the kind of stilted cheese sauce that some call “witty banter”….
“So you’ve come dressed like a bandit while you’re robbing away delicious pastries today? You look like an undertaker,” I grind out. Her mouth drops momentarily, then she tries to shake it off like she’s only insulted. The hellcat narrows her eyes at me. “I have an interview, and no, Captain Dipshit, I wouldn’t dirty my hands with you. I’d let someone else scrape you off the ground like roadkill.” Captain Dipshit? Roadkill? How charming. That green-eyed little mouth needs someone to bend her over their knee and teach her to talk nicely to strangers.

I don’t like the writing style and voices, and the characters are about as interesting as counting grains of sand at the beach.
His name is Lincoln Burns and this book is all fire! Leave it to Nicole to bring us another steamy, hilarious, intense, and awesome epic slow-burn romance spawned by a feud over cinnamon rolls. The banter rocks. The love scenes will leave you red-faced. The characters are deep and original. I adore how she mixed in the Edgar Allan Poe callbacks. This unique take on the fake fiance and enemies-to-lovers tropes will have your heart dancing.
I have read many of Nicole Snow’s books from Heart’s Edge to the Grumpy series, so I am a fan. I didn’t like this book.
I thought it was too long. By the 30% point the combative banter between Lincoln and Dakota had gone from “cute” to “really annoying”. And it never stopped. They kept rehashing the pastries, the connection to Poe, and prior wedding woes. I couldn’t see why anyone would like someone who talked to them the way Dakota did much less let them work for them.
We never saw the big picture that made up the theme of the story - the marketing campaign for the wedding line. Very little time was spent surrounding this innovative idea they had, then just like that it was gone and never heard from again. How did they end up doing the marketing for the wedding line? The part about Wyatt was excellent and kept me reading the book.
So, the first half of the book could have been cut in half. The last half could have left out some personal interactions between Lincoln and Dakota and expanded more on the story. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4 Stars to 2 - Snow should learn less is more - RECOMMEND
This didn’t need to be as long as it is. I skimmed a lot of it and then at 90% I just skipped to the end. It was too syrupy, corny, cliche and angsty. snow spent 60% of the book on the enemies storyline but was not able in all of those words to create genuine chemistry between the lead characters. She wasted more time than any human with a life would put up with writing the I can/can’t, i will/won’t, I do/don’t. Nope, No, no thanks. I was over both of the leads and their unrealistic fear of love and all the side stories. For me it was exhausting and finally boring. I’m recommending it because I know a bunch of readers will just eat this up. Trying not to be a hater but really by the end of this I wanted to give it no stars. SEX SCENES - Yes. There were a few and lots of making out.By the time they finally became intimate I was bored. The scene was fine but then all subsequent scenes were the first on repeat. No change up of positions and don’t remember her ever reciprocating oral sex. Weird.
THE WAY HE WATCHED ROMANCE FILMS TO GET TIPS ON HOW TO PROPERLY GROVEL <3
find you a guy who'll step down as a ceo so he isn't spending all his time on work and make you "his first and last priority" — LINCOLN BURNS, YOU ARE SO???!
i've finished this book a while back but forgot to log it in here so i cant really remember much but i really really enjoyed this! it was kinda too long though, like half of it was just banter which would be better if it wasnt 500 pages long but still— i genuinely found this cute and greaaaat!!
This was a very angsty book, so if that’s your thing, you’re in for a treat. I felt like there was too much angst between the milestones. I also felt like the people were a bit pretentious and the Poe thing was way overdone. Also I hated the epilogue. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I almost didn't finish this. It was ... not good. This is the kind of cheese that made me abstain from any romance books until very recently.
The FMC (can't even remember her name other than last name Poe) needs a change of pace and so she has an interview for a marketing position in an up and coming, though locally well-known company. Prior to going to her interview, she runs to a coffee shop to get a coffee and cinnamon roll and inadvertently gets the last one. Enter super hot guy with an ax to grind because there is no more of the pastries. Lo and behold, who shows up to her interview? Super hot guy, Lincoln. She ends up with the job and then a fake proposal comes into play to help launch a wedding line. Insert tropes of fiesty female lead with baggage and a male lead with a tortured soul who believes he's not good enough for girl.
The "witty banter" was in fact, not witty at all. It was a bit cringe-inducing and to be honest, if I had a new hire speak to me the way Poe continued to speak to Lincoln, she would've been fired the first week. I tired of the cinnamon roll jokes in the first two chapters as well as the constant references to her last name, Poe.
There was no chemistry between the two of them. Lincoln just kept making references to how her speaking to him rudely and unprofessionally made his dick hard. Then, all of the sudden, they're making goo goo eyes and references to changed feelings about the other.
Listen I love me an office romance…however…. This one was just a little bland. Now it wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t mind blowing either, it was kinda just okay lol. It started off really well but then as it went on I just got really bored so it took me a while to finish. Solid 3⭐️ from me :)
“The Raven” and other Edgar Allan Poe references were overdone to the point that ‘Nevermore’ is now my favorite love-to-curse-you-with-a-thousand-daggers-to-your-soul nickname. (Possibly would’ve worked better if the overall vibe was gothic or dark? The references, not the nickname) Separate from that, I actually really enjoyed the majority of this. The third act did drag out over too much time with an underwhelming grovel imo but I liked them enough to not hold it against them

If you're a fan of slow-burning, enemies-to-lovers office romance stories filled with drama, sizzling chemistry, humor, snarky banter, tension, passion, smoking hot sex, that all wraps up with a HEA, then One Bossy Proposal is the book for you.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
I was quite enjoying this book until I remembered I hate men. Maybe I'm just getting sick of these formulaic romances and need to take a step back from them for a bit. Also shout out to how they made up after the act three conflict and had sex or whatever but then the book did a three month time skip, just for them to have more sex, then another three month time skip, involving more sex, now a week long time skip, and then another three month time skip. I feel like that was completely unnecessary. It was just multiple time skips when honestly maybe only one was necessary to prove that both of them had healed from their wedding trauma or whatever.
After the middle, it was a little fast paced for me after H punched out h's ex... we didn't get to go too deep into the angst, which left me feeling disconnected.
But I did like the little tie ends for some of the secondary characters.
It was a fun, easy read

Lincoln and Dakota Making It to Their Evermore ❤❤🔥❤❤
I'm a huge fan of Nicole Snow's growely men and the spunky women who somewhat tame them but I have to say Lincoln and Dakota are my new favorites!! I also love that Hearts Edge and Dallas characters have merged to Seattle with Sweeter Grinds, Regis Rolls and of course memories. This story starts with Lincoln pretty much having a melt down because Dakota got the last Regis Roll, a cinnamon gooeyness so good it'll give you a mouthgasam. Insults fly, names called and apparently money is no issue and neither back down. Hot Shrek has his reason for needing that cinnamon goodness but that would open other wounds he fights in a daily basis. What happens when that platinum blond with the dazzling green eyes and has a body made for sin shows up for a job interview at Lincoln's clothing company...Let the fun begin. From enemies over a cinnamon roll to employer/employee having secret fantasies to fake engaged to promote the wedding line... the names and banter doesn't stop and goes from insulting to terms of endearment. Both have issues with trust and marriage that keeps them from exploring what could be. It might take Lincoln's best friend and fellow ex Marine, Wyatt, to make him see the hard truth...or his widowed mother... If it's not too late. Can Captain Douchenozel piece his Raven's heart back together after he shattered it?? I highly recommend this MUST READ!!!! A story filled with all the feels, his/her POV, no cheating, no cliffhanger, real to life characters, real to life situations and a much deserved HEA. Absolutely LOVED Lincoln and Dakota and their secondary characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and happily purchased a copy for my favorites collection. I'm soooooo looking forward for the next story from Nicole Snow!!
The beginning of this book was so promising. I laughed so hard! But, the middle of the book is confusing. This dude always lies to her before he tells her the truth and while she has told him all about her past history, he has held back. And now they’ve started sleeping together and it feels like an affair, in the worst way. I feel dirty and not okay.
DNF at 67%. I wanted to keep going but this book is making me feel bummed out.
It’s incredibly weird for everyone at work to be pressuring them to be fake engaged. It does not feel professional at all!
One Bossy Proposal is an enemies to lovers, fake engagement romance between two co-workers. Lincoln Burns and Dakota Poe are two individuals, who met in a movie-like meet cute. Their story is filled with layers of ooey gooey sticky sweetness and all the talk of cinnamon rolls makes me wish I had one of those Regis rolls to eat while reading this book. The slow burn and their story takes off from there.
Lincoln Burns is the CEO of Haughty But Nice and is dubbed one of Seattle’s most eligible bachelors yet undateable and a cold hearted office grump. He has a past that haunts him and leaves him jaded on love and relationships.
Dakota Poe is a copywriter, who escaped the small town she grew up in to repair her broken heart and to focus on her career. Despite her broken heart, she is feisty and a force to be reckoned with when provoked.
When Lincoln and Dakota meet, you can already feel the tension floating off the pages. I love how they both can dish it almost as well as they can take it. I have to say that she is pretty ballsy in some scenes. I would have paid money to see the mantra go down in person. Fate brought these two together so they could help repair and put the pieces of their broken hearts/souls together. Both have multiple layers and as they spend more time together, they slowly pull them back and when they leave themselves bare to one another, its raw and beautiful.
This book is filled with everything you know and love in a Nicole Snow book- flirty banter, angst, sweet and spicy scenes, ridiculous nicknames (which are pretty creative and hilarious), and a storyline that has you hooked by the first few pages.
I am intrigued by Wyatt Emory and Meadow and fingers crossed there will be a book about them in the future. I would love to know more about their story and where Wyatt fits in with the Heart’s Edge crew. I love that series and it’s one of my favorites. I also would love to see if there will be a book about Eliza.
I love how there were additional chapters in the flash forward that you could download to see their lives in the future. I love how the author does this!
I don’t know if this book is part of a series, but in the book there are references of other characters from other books written by the author. But you don’t have to read them in order to read this book. After reading this book, I want to go back and read the Heart’s Edge series over again as well as read the Office Grump series.
I love the cover! The male on the cover has been on a few covers from other authors I love and he does all the covers justice! Joe is such a nice guy and I love how his beautiful face is showing up everywhere. He makes a great muse for Lincoln.
I highly recommend reading this book! It’s an easy read, funny, as well as steamy. And it pairs well with a glass a wine and something sweet.
