Skeleton Lord Brynnius Daray is happiest when he’s wielding his daggers or elbow deep in flour, baking some wondrous treat. As an elite assassin, Brynnius spends his days protecting the Council of Sorcery and Shifters, and his evenings are for family. The Darays are lively and dedicated, and Brynnius loves them fiercely. However, at night he is alone, and Brynnius yearns for his mate.
Having been recently resurrected, Samson is desperate to prove his worth as a fallen knight. The trouble is, Samson is part of a ground-breaking experiment—and the new spell is flawed. Or perhaps it is the man himself that has issues. While Samson struggles to understand his purpose, he learns that Brynnius is the other half of his soul.
Although Fate has brought them together, neither man is sure what the future holds. To figure it out, they must confront the past and reconcile their present. Just when Samson and Brynnius finally find common ground, the world intrudes. Nothing will ever be the same for the Darays.
Jessamyn Kingley has published over forty titles and refuses to pick a favorite among them. With an extraordinary passion for her characters, Jessamyn eagerly crafts new tales and avidly re-reads them whenever her schedule allows. Jessamyn shares a home in Nevada with her husband and their three spoiled cats. When she is not writing or adding new ideas to her thick stack of beloved notebooks, she is gaming with family and friends.
This continues to be my favorite series. I just love the Darays and it's always a pleasure to read stories that focus on their family. I love their interactions with each other. As far as the two main characters are concerned, I really loved Brynnius and his baking. I'm glad that he got his HEA in the end. Samson on the other hand was a bit unlikable in the beginning. I understood why he acted the way he did but didn't like that he took his frustrations out on Brynnius. I won't give out any spoilers but will say that while it definitely had a HEA for the main characters, the ending was sad. All in all, this was a wonderful addition to the series.
I have loved this series from the first book! It’s so well written that it takes me away to a world populated with amazing people. This book of Samson and Brynnius’ coming together and their growing love is filled with strength and surrounded by family love. I cried buckets towards the end, I think I have a love/hate relationship with Jessamyn Kingley’s stories!
Brynnius and Samson. Skeleton Lord and newly resurrected Knight find out they are mates. So much going on in this book, and I loved every minute of it. This was a wonderful addition to the series. Highly recommended
The Darays are one of the best things about King's D'Vaire world. Their interactions are often unintentionally comedic. And everyone in this found family is kind and accepting of all. Skeleton Lord Brynnius Daray is an elite assassin, one of the seven that assist in the ruling of the Sentinels. He's happiest when he's baking and can't wait for a mate. Samson is the first Fallen Knight resurrected as a shifter. When Byrnn meets him, he realizes that the two are mates. The road to mating is never smooth in the D'Vaire world and there are roadblocks and drama ahead. King offers some surprising twists and also sets up a conflict which will be resolved further along in the series (yay! new books!) Lovely story. Over too quick. Can't wait for more.
Venerably Daray is the 28th book in the D’Vaire series and must be read after the previous 27. This book does have triggering content.
This is one of those stories that was 100% unexpected and so beautiful at the same time. It's been a minute since a book hit me in the feels quite like this one did, and I was a complete wreck once I finished. But this book is so freaking worth it, Kingley takes you on an epically emotional journey that you won't be able to put down.
Sexy, heartfelt and full of redemption; Venerably Daray was a poignant, passionate romance that I devoured in a day.
Kingley crafted a story of true heart, beauty, heat, and glorious, hard-won redemption! I loved both heroes and their journey to love was a gorgeous one to watch!
I did struggle with this book initially as I thought Samson was misunderstood and people could of been a bit more compassionate. Honestly, I felt like Samson was the victim, but made out to be the villain. However, even though they had a rough start, Brynn and Samson’s relationship was so full of love.
I could not write a review when I finished reading it the day of release, because of how upset I was. I did not expect to cry so much! I cried at the beginning for Samson and then I cried at the end! That ending - heartbreaking! I also felt like the decision at the end was never considered properly either.
Also, I need to mention the absolutely gorgeous cover - stunning!

Fastest second chance romance I’ve seen: after an initial bad first impression because of a mood disorder brought on by an incorrectly understood spell, the two make up and make a living pair.
A necromancer has a spell to bind a soul to an immortal, invulnerable body, that calls a deceased soul of a honorable knight from the afterlife and wipes their memory, replacing it with a purpose to protect the Council, and nobody cares?
And this spell can separate not only fated mates, but shifters from their beast souls, so you have thousands of former shifters without their soulmate and their soul sibling running around protecting the living world?
Even though they started off bad. When things finally came forward they discover the lost wyern. To see all of my favorite characters. Only to see the misery in everyone. Can't wait to see what happen in next book
