Abused and Neglected

After years of being held captive and abused by a wolf pack Libby Hoffman takes fate into her own hands and escapes, her sanity barely intact. Desperate for a place to hide she stumbles upon a bear shifter that brings her to stay with one of his friends.

Omega of the Black Bear Clan, Jase Stewart's reputation proceeds him. With an appetite for women, he rarely turns down the offer of no-strings-attached sex, especially with a worthy partner. There is more to him than meets the eye though, and as Omega, the weight of the entire clan weighs heavy on his shoulders.

When the two of them are thrust together, again and again, Libby does everything she can to stay away from him, not wanting any more trouble. Jase can’t seem to help himself, he wants her, even though her scent is blocked from him. She is a mystery he can’t unravel, why the secrets?

With her safety threatened, Jase has to make a decision, and now that the mystery man has upped the ante with a whole militia to go against the Black Bear Clan, he has to do it fast. Pickens didn’t think the Clan would fight back, but now he has pushed too far and is about to find out he was wrong. Dead wrong.

I started my journey as a reader but quickly learned how much I enjoyed everything about romance, so I picked up the pen in 2017 and haven't looked back. Writing various genres, paranormal romance is my go-to. However, I do have a few mysteries and contemporary romances under my belt.

My favorite books involve characters that aren't perfect and have room to grow or a good mystery you can't easily solve. With each new book, I keep this in mind and enjoy creating complex worlds where my characters take the stage.

When I am not creating fantastic new worlds for my readers to get lost in, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my two rescue dogs, Sammie and Jake.

This book was an awesome read. It took me away to another world one in which I could forget my everyday worries and just relax. It moves along at a good pace, has interesting characters that you will love and a story that does not disappoint. This book needs to be read.

I think of all the three books I've read so far in the Black Bears of Independence series, Jase and Libby's story is my least favorite and got on my nerves.

I'm all for an independent woman who doesn't just give into what fate doles out for her, however, what I can't stand is when the characters go back an forth with their feelings for over half of the book! "oh but he's meant to be mine and I just want him so much." "but I can't have him, how can I trust he really wants me, how can I compare to the many women he's already had". ---Seriously, it gets annoying reading every other page about Libby throwing Jase's past against him.

This story seemed at odds with how the previous characters (Corbin & Cade) were previously portrayed. They constantly harped on Jase and made fun of his lack of "smoothness" with his mate and were constantly throwing up his wondering ways against him just like Libby rather than helping their Omega win his mate.

There were quite a few mistakes throughout the story as well, in regards to the writing. The writing of the story kept switching from first person to third person and got quite annoying. There was also the issue with Viggo (Pickens right hand man) being killed when he held a knife against Libby, yet later on he's well and alive talking with Martin. So did the guy die or not??? I would think decapitation would kill anyone, even the vampires in this story.

This was my least favorite of the 3 books of Black Bears of Independence. I love shifters but life is confusing enough when you throw in bears, wolves, vampires, humans, and Seer ,a goddess in the mix and I know I'm confused. I can only guess how confusing it would be to keep track of all that for the characters and the other readers. Jase seemed nice enough but Libby was getting on my nerves. I do always love a happy ending though

This book if for adult readers
This is more than your average shifter story. Libby is NOT an average shifter. There's bears, wolves, vampires, humans, an Oracle, and the Goddess Isis!
I like all the different species involved. I think it got a little monotonous with constant blah, blah, blah of Libby's character "masking her her scent" to save her mate's life...It was repeated a lot.

Jase has to take care of the clan's emotions. Libby gets visions due to her connection with the Oracle and the Goddess Isis. Visions of Jase's death gets her to fight harder to try and make them not come true. Can the visions about Pickens and his troops be stopped?

Jase

I enjoyed reading about Jase’s character but it was hard to get into for me. The concept was interesting but the story jumped around and it was just hard to connect with the characters themselves and their relationship.

Black Bears of Independence: Jase

Great plot, characters, suspense and love. I lost the flow of the story a couple of times, but glad I read it all.

Jase and Libby's story is full of danger, frustration, and anxiety. As they finally work out that they belong together, Pickens' agenda becomes known, and Libby gets an amazing surprise.

The struggles that Jase and Libby go through, are all worth it. Especially how the clan and other clans to to each other's rescue.

Loving this series. The connections and chemistry between all the characters is like a living thing. There bonds are constantly growing stronger and you crave more of the story.
