Beyond Buttons #13

Buttons & Belief

Griffin offered to take me home but I refused, knowing he needed to get Vanessa home. She was three months pregnant and starting to get uncomfortable.

I walked to my apartment and took a short cut down an alleyway.

That was the worst mistake of my life.

Four men grabbed me. I fought them off, but when the barrel of a gun was pressed between my eyes, I knew the game was up.

But then a man appeared from the shadows and scared the men away like rats.

Tall, dark, and handsome.

His name is Bosco Roth.

He just saved my life, but he didn't do it for free.

He wants something in return.

A kiss. A hot and passionate kiss right up against the wall.

But that kiss is just the beginning.

Im getting fed up with the same old story in different characters!

Carmen and Bosco story starts the same way that Vanessa and Bones, in a alley but thats it!

Again all Barsetti are f** Hypocrites...
Carmen is all over the guy, using him for sex but so judgmental about his "work"!

Him... I'm not feeling it!!! For someone so ruthless he is very tame!!

Se hizo desear la historia de Carmen, pero cumplió!

Dios mio, creo que penelope es una de las mejores autoras de hombres alphas! Me encanta de verdad. Y la combinación de una mujer fuerte con eso, es excelente.

Me quedan 2 libros mas! Ya quiero leer mas sobre ellos!

I honestly don't know how I felt about Dancer in Lingerie. A part of me is tired of reading the same story with different characters but a part of me can't put it down. Then again, I guess the good guy/good girl story is boring. This book was still a page turner. I thought I would like Bosco (I mean, who wouldn't love a Bones Boscoe Barsetti team) but I'm still not a fan. He's honest, protective, powerful, cute and demanding but I thought that he would soften with Carmen. But the ultimatum at the end made me feel some kind of way (although you knew where it was heading). P.s. Vanessa needs to stop throwing stones from behind her glass house. I tell you, these Barsetti's are some serious hypocrites.

This is still a good book and definitely worth the read.

I haven’t read any of the other books in this series but this was a good book and I didn’t feel like I needed to know anything. I loved Bones and how protective he is of both girls. I was definitely glad Bosco owed him a favor and saved Carmen’s life. I love how Carmen is so much different than any of the women Bosco dated before. I love how she makes Bosco fight to win her over. I also love how he offered to give her kids and marry her.

oh Carmen!

The Barsetti family continue to find themselves in tricky situations and Carmen is no different. I’m afraid she’s met her match.

Return to Greatness

This book is a return to what I loved about Crow/Pearl’s story and Conway/Sapphire’s story. The last 2 books have had so many multiple POVs that it was becoming a little bogged down. I adored Vanessa and Griffin’s story, but the resolution to their romance carried over to far into Carter/Mia’s story. I think that’s why I didn’t connect as much with their romance as the other couples in this series because my attention was divided between them and Vanessa/Griffin. Also, some of their storyline left me with questions. Does Mia ever get revenge? Is she going to be able to have more kids? etc... Thankfully, Penelope Sky has focused solely on one couple in this book. So far, I’ve been sucked back into this world of alpha criminals and the woman who bring them to their knees. Bosco gives me some of Crow’s obsessive vibes and it was great. While Carmen is turning out to be a surprising heroine. From the little we’ve seen of her... I didn’t know what to expect. She isn’t mentioned in the series until the first of Vanessa’s story. I think the author decided to add her into the family to extend the series because during Conway’s storyline he only ever mentions Carter as his cousin and Vanessa as his sister. I do think that is something that needs to be updated. Obviously, she wouldn’t have scenes, but at least it wouldn’t seem so weird when her read about her later and wonder were this character came from. Looking forward to reading the next book...

Overall, I did enjoy the Lingerie series, probably because I'm a sucker for alpha males (in books, let's be clear :p). However, these books had too many mistakes, too many repetitions, sometimes a paragraph was placed twice in the same book, a whole paragraph! How does that even happen??? I felt like the author thought I was stupid or had a very bad memory because she kept repeading why the characters were attracted to each other, why they couldn't be together, why it was wrong to love each other, etc. Writing four books for the same couple is just absurd and unncessary here, one book for one story would have been enough!
Also the characters had the same way of talking, the same personnalities, the author literally toke the same characters but changed their physics and their background story a little bit and bam she had a new book.

However, I feel like this series could have some potential if she made it shorter, worked on her characters and had an editor (because I guess she doesn't have one?).

AHHHHH we finally get Carmen’s story and it seems like it’s following the nature of all the Barsetti women – being with a man who’s completely wrong on paper, someone that their family would never approve of, yet this same person is EXACTLY what they need. The path that we go down with Carmen and Bosco is very much reminiscent of that of Vanessa/Bones, so i guess we’ll have to wait and see how things play out.

Carmen sadly is in the wrong place at the wrong time, she turns down Griffin’s preference to walk her home one night and well, that was the wrong choice. She’s grabbed by a few men in an alley whos intentions are to rape and kill her, and since she has the Barsetti moxy, she fights back, and threatens the men not only with her family name but that of Bones. While it doesn’t do much for the men who are attacking her, another man walks to the front of the alley and hears Bones’ name and puts a stop to everything.

Here comes Bosco. A man that knows Bones, and owes Bones a favor for a job that was done (thank goodness Bones doesn’t always collect money for his work) and Carmen’s life is spared. Would have been a good ending of course except that Bosco is the kind of man that you dream of, built in a way that’s insanely strong but not boxy, eyes that you can get lost in, and a power that makes you want to submit in ways that you never imagined. He gets under Carmen’s skin, but once she learns that he’s not the right guy at all for any number of reasons, she tries to exterminate. Doesn’t work of course.

The path that this story goes on is one that’s rather familiar. Carmen tries to put Bosco out of her mind, he pursues her because he’s intrigued. They realize that while they can be everything for each other, it won’t be easy. Carmen voices her concerns to Vanessa who pushes her to end things with Bosco, but what we quickly learn is that he’s not willing to lose, and not willing to lose her. Carmen is his, and he wants her forever.

There are more questions than answers here in this story. We learn what it is that Bosco does to be the King of Italy essentially and it’s not a direction of work that makes anyone happy. We learn what’s made Bosco into the man that he is, the pain that he’s had in his past from his father who left and his mother who passed away. We see that he’s got a brother who maybe sees further into his soul than anyone else and begins to question his motivations. At the same time, we see that Carmen isn’t just a woman who’s strong, but a woman who knows that she wants to have the greatest future with a family and everything that comes with it.

Where we are left off is a point where they are forced to compromise but that’s not an answers that really gives anyone any peace. Bosco has to fight harder than ever to get Carmen and she needs to figure out how she can be happy either with him or without him.

Families will never allow this romance to happen, yet their chemistry is so intense and heated that it would be a shame to let it go. Penelope Sky does it again with crafting an amazing story and set of characters, although this time around i think that we’re starting to see a similar story to what we have in the past, so i’d love to see how the next installment turns out so that we can get a truly unique story.

Carmen story is not what was expected. She totally lives up to the Barsetti name. She’s strong, opinionated and a fighter. She knows how to hold her own in any situation but also funny, compassionate and kind.

This women can have any man she wants but she has standards so she thought.

In comes Bosco, this dark mysterious man who save her from what could have been her last breath, Because of a another highly influential man in her life , she was able to live another day, embrace her family, her life was spared or was it!!

Bosco is a total aloha male in this book, we thought Griffin aka Bones was high strung, ha, this man takes it to a whole new level of claiming what is his.

The chemistry that draws these two together is off the charts. They both can’t deny each other and each see different things for their future. But the back and forth just bring the duo even closer.

Carmen knows he is not the man for her, everything about him says run away and after what Vanessa went through, she didn’t want to imagine the fallout with the family.

When all becomes to much to handle can they just walk away and cherish the time that they had or does one have their own agenda.

Someone is not letting go so easily, walking away isn’t an option anymore but who wins in the end

This was so good, but so are all the others in the series , however this one just has a different feel to it and gives you a total book hangover, cannot wait for the next one!!!
Great job again!!!

Another Barsetti and another bad boy!

So… although not entirely essential, I strongly advise that you read all the Buttons and Beyond Buttons series before you delve into the turbulent relationship of Carman and Bosco.

If there is one thing that’s for certain, the Barsetti’s can’t help but fall for the bad boy. Whilst we’ve finally got the outcome we wanted for Vanessa and Griffin, this new Bad Boy, Bosco Roth appears to be the baddest of all. He’s ruthlessly delicious and brutally possessive when I comes to what he wants… and what he wants is the feisty, fiery beauty, Carmen Barsetti.

This guy is immensely powerful. He owns the city with an iron fist and if you cross him you pay with your blood. As much as we’ve learned about the strength and resilience of the Barsetti’s, Bosco Roth’s reign across not only the city of Florence but of the whole country, Carmen knows she’s playing with fire.

He’s dangerous. He’s fearless. He’s powerful. Attributes that Carmen admires yet fears in the same way. She wants him, but not the life he offers. But can she leave him now she knows how good and safe it feels to be in his arms and in his bed? Will she ever possess his heart? And will he ever let her leave?

Great book. Loving this couple already. They are so obviously in love, but whilst he wants her, he can’t offer her everything she has ever dreamed about. There’s a compromise but will either one be willing to sacrifice their heart?

Griffin is still my absolute favorite but Bosco is looking to tie things up with Crow, Cane, and Conway or maybe surpass them (though I still think Carter is kinda meh). I am not sure how to review and not give away a single thing but I will try. The blurb gives a brief setup to the start of the book but the full story of what happens will just draw you in and keep you glued to the book. Whereas Bones and Vanessa are epic love, Bosco and Carmen are epic lust (at least, for this part of the story). Needless to say Bosco is gorgeous, TROUBLE, and unrepentant in his choice of lifestyle. Carmen gets to show off her sassy, I-don't-put-up-with-cr*p-and-I-know-what-I-want attitude. Carmen has set goals in her life, especially after seeing all of her family all settled and happily in love. Carmen and Bosco are another set of great characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses and both being very stubborn. I truly cannot wait to see where the author takes this story.

I was lucky enough to be offered a copy of this book by this amazing author and I am reviewing it because the Lingerie series is even better than the Buttons series and I think everyone needs to meet Griffin and Bosco (I am a sucker for the really bad boys).

I can’t get enough of these Barsetti’s! This is book 13 in the next generation and this book starts the story of Carmen and Bosco. This book seems to jump from the prior books and we focus relatively exclusively on Carmen and Bosco which is wonderful.

This is reminiscent of the way Vanessa and Bones started. Once Carmen catches Bosco’s eye, he quickly realizes that she is the most special women he has ever met. In typical fashion he is a dark character and she is resistant to him at first, but she can’t ignore the spark between them for long.

I am on the edge of my seat to see what happens next in Fighter and Lover….

I loved this book!! I know, I know. I say that about all of her books, but I swear it's true! Spoiler alerts ahead!

I loved how it's similar to the way all the Barsetti's seem to meet their significant others, but it's not at the same time. I was not a fan of how she tried to break it off. But I'm even less of a fan of how he reacted to it. He said she was free when she wasn't, and that bothered me because it broke her trust. Why didn't he talk to her about what his guy overheard??? It's like the game of telephone...when you don't hear it first hand, you can't be sure of the exact truth! I can't wait for the next one to see how she is going to make him pay for backing her into a corner like he did. And you know she will do that. She's too strong of an individual to stay down for long. I also can not wait to see what happens when Bones finds out...not to mention the rest of the clan.

This is still a fascinating series but I'm having some doubt about Carmen story. I don't know maybe my opinion will change, after all this is only book one of Carmen story. I have always like Carmen tenacity her no nonsense personality but this weak damsel that she portraying is really annoying. As for Bosco I thought I would like him but I don't, well maybe I kinda do to a certain extent. I will admit that his alpha personality is kinda hot I like that he honest and protective. But when he gave Carmen that ultimatum at the end I was like REALLY!!! I was expecting Carmen to go into beast mode and do something drastic like Vanessa did with Bones when she shot him. I guess I have to wait and see how things play out. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Wow, wonderful, outstanding is all I can say about the latest addition to the Lingerie series by Penelope Sky. It hard and raw from beginning to end.

Carmen Barsetti, Cane’s daughter is the main character of this book. Bosco Ross is the ruthless King of the City who saves Carmen during an attack. From that pointe one we are in for one hell of a ride.

I love the details Penelope writes in this book full of emotions, confusion, anger and heavy sex. At some sections I believe the two are falling for each other, however, that is disputed by both. It’s sharp, witty and at times full of family love know to us from the Barsetti’s, as guest appearances are made.

If you have love the Barsetti’s stories as told be Penelope Sky, you’ll love this one even more. Most readers of her works will agree. Penelope has another winner. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of this ARC group.

The next part in the Lingerie Series, Dancer in Lingerie starts off Carmen's story.

Carmen Barsetti is much like Vanessa in the way that her father doesn't want her growing up and finding a man to love. She is sassy, speaks her mind and knows exactly what she wants. She wants a man who is strong, protective and can handle her, in and out of the bedroom. Has she found that man in Bosco?

Bosco Roth, is the king of the city, never goes anywhere with an armed escort. He never has any trouble, people know not to mess with him. He would never think of saving anyone, he would normally just keep walking but Carmen is different. Could his hard exterior be breaking for a sassy mouthed Barsetti?

Carmen's story starts out similar to Vanessa's, but I have a feeling it's going to be so much different. I can't wait for the next part to see where Carmen and Bosco's story goes.

I devoured this book in 2 days. I couldn’t put it down, I read it every possible moment I had alone. Carmen is a fiery, sassy, holds her own type of woman, and Bosco’s attraction to her is like nothing he has ever felt before!

Bosco being the underground boss that owns the city and that all fear in his wake, yet Carmen stands up for herself and goes head to head with him as no one has ever dared to do before!

The unadulterated passion these two very head strong individuals possess for one another will interrupt every possible free moment you might have throughout the your day! Gripping your e-reader and consuming yourself with one more sentence, one more paragraphs, and one more chapter until you’ve read the last word! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS NOVEL & GIVE IT BEYOND A 5 STAR RATING!

I am loving Dancer in Lingerie! It will not disappoint!! Being a continuation of an already existing series, I was not sure how this story would develop for Carmen and still keep interest. Penelope Sky continues to find suspenseful and exciting ways to add to the Barsetti story to keep it interesting and enthralling! I read it in one read in just a few hours! I could not put it down! The introduction of this new dark and mysterious character is exciting and intriguing! He is dark, mysterious, sexy and yet dangerous. You want to hate him, but also find yourself falling for him! I could feel Carmen's intruige, excitement and enamor! I don't know that I could have stayed away from him myself!! I cannot wait to read the next book!

Okay first things first this was by far my favourite book and favourite couple in the series! I have no idea why as I did have such a crush on Griffin but OMG Bosco just took the lead! Another thing which was quite funny was I actually thought this was the continuation of Mia’s & Carter’s story and then after a chapter in I realised this was following Carmen’s story which made me so happy as I have been looking forward to her story ever since she was first mentioned in the earlier books! I don’t want to spoil anymore but will say again that this was an amazing book and I’m so excited to see what happens next in Fighter in Lingerie! Highly recommend this to fans of Penelope Sky or fans of Alpha Romances and make sure to read the previous books in this series as this isn’t a standalone!

I am honestly shocked at how highly rated this is. I wonder if I read something different than everyone else.. I had to honestly skim through this book to finish it. I was getting so bored and tired of all the back and forth. I felt like there was no real plot other than the sex. Maybe that is how the book is supposed to be but it definitely didn't feel like a good set up to continue their story. I don't like their relationship at all because nothing feels genuine. I also hate Bosco's character about how he doesn't care about women yet he loves his mom? He says a lot of questionable things but I guess since he's a villain it makes sense. I just don't vibe with it though and how Carmen just looks past all of that. Just overall disappointed but maybe its because I don't understand idk.

This book was so intense! I was so worried about Carmen & what would happen to her. Even after meeting Bosco, it was still intense & kept me on the edge of my seat. He seems very shady and unable to be read. Her trying to leave him scared me because of how powerful he is and not wanting to let her leave! I’m hoping this turns out like Vanessa and Griffin!! I’m curious to see what comes of their relationship in the next book! I’m glad this book still included Vanessa & Griffin. I missed hearing about the other Barsettis also, like how was the new baby & life going for Conway and Sapphire. Anxious to read the next book!! Penelope Sky is an amazing author!!

This book is Spectatular! Carmen has met her match no matter how hard she trays to deny It! She has an alpha male that knows what he wants and will take It! He says he is not afraid of Griffin. Have mercy that is hot!!! This is a definite must read, must have! So is this entire series. I also love how we get updates on Con and Muse, Mia and Carter, Griffin and Vanessa, Crow and Button and Cane and Addie. I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book from the author. I can not wait for the next book in this phenomenal series!!! One click and see for yourself!

The action is back. Carmen's story delivers all the drama that comes with being a Barsetti. As with all of the Barsetti women Carmen gets caught up in a situation that calls for a bartering of some sort. This time around we are introduced to Bosco. He wants Carmen by any means necessary. Bones is not happy with the situation and knows that this all could have been avoided if Carmen would have just listened to him but, in true Barsetti form she didn't. Bosco is a lovable lunatic with too much power and free time and Carmen is so confused she can't think straight. I'm anxious to see how this will end.

I absolutely loved this book and how it only focused on 2 characters instead of multiple people. I feel like this story line is similar to Vanessa and Bones but it's going to evolve into something quickly. Carmen and Bosco's banter is what makes this book a fast read. I love how she doesn't put up with any of his shit and is constantly putting him in his place. She has that no nonsense attitude. But I also think she is a bit of a hypocrite because of her family history and the way she was telling Bosco he will never be good enough for her family. I can't wait to see how the rest of their story unfolds.
