I am NOT Rowan’s little sister. And I will do everything in my power to prove otherwise. But I swear breaking my ankle, so I could live with him while I recover was not part of the plan. Honestly.
I have loved Rowan since I was sixteen and he rushed in like my knight in shining football pads to save me from a bully. Now that I’m back in Winter Falls after graduating college, it’s time for me to make him mine.
There’s only one problem. Rowan sees me as his little sister who needs protecting and not as a woman. There’s no problem too big I can’t overcome it, though. Even if it comes in the form of a stubborn six-foot-five former NFL quarterback.
When I break my ankle and Rowan insists I live with him while I recover, I decide our forced proximity is just the chance I need. Soon enough, the former football player isn’t acting as if he thinks I’m his little sister.
But Rowan still refuses to entertain the idea of us being in a relationship. Am I doomed to wait forever for him or can I prove to him he’s my forever? This forced proximity small town romantic comedy features a feisty woman who’s not afraid to go after what she wants, a former NFL quarterback who’s determined to do ‘the right thing’ even if what he thinks is ‘the right thing’ is NOT in fact ‘the right thing’, a super convenient broken ankle, a gaggle of sisters who want to try their hands at matchmaking, and a whole town full of hippies who think being called a busybody is a compliment.
Forever For You is a standalone novel in the Winter Falls series.
D.E. Haggerty is actually just plain old Dena, but she thinks using initials makes her sound like one of the cool kids. She was born and raised in the U.S. but has spent the majority of her adult life abroad living in cool-sounding places like Istanbul, Heidelberg, and The Hague. She has job hopped from military policewoman to lawyer to B&B owner. She finally jumped off the job hopping bandwagon a few years ago when she decided to turn her addiction to romance novels into a career. If anyone has ideas on how to turn a love of wine into a job, she's all ears.
There is one thing I know that I can count on from this author, a book that will make me laugh out loud and is filled with sexy characters in interesting locations.
This is the second book in the series and focuses on Ashlyn, Aspen's sister, and Rowan, a friend of Lyric's in a way (they played football together). Ashlyn has had a major crush on Rowan since she was about 15. I don't know if I have ever had a crush on someone for that long, but there is something about these two that cause sparks to fly and ignite. Despite their attraction to each other, there is something holding Rowan back from pursuing a relationship. We don't find out what that something is until about 2/3 of the way through the book, but the anticipation kept me guessing why he thought he couldn't have a relationship with her or anyone else.
There are so many fun things about this book from Rowan's new profession as a baker to Ashlyn's secret career...which isn't so much of a secret but then what is in the town of Winter Falls? The citizens of this town all care about each other but are way too much into each other's business, especially their sex lives. They are always betting on when someone will do the deed, get together, or some other craziness. Maybe it is something in the water that makes them act this crazy, and while it is over the top you can see how much they care about everyone in town.
Ashlyn and Rowan both have issues to deal with and accept before they can move forward with each other. However, the time that Ashlyn spends at Rowan's house recovering helps move them along in the right direction...with the help of Ashlyn's sisters and the rest of the town. There are times when Ashlyn doesn't act like an adult but more like a child, but sometimes that happens when you grow up as the youngest and everyone else telling you what to do or taking care of you. Rowan fights his feelings for too long and this combined with Ashlyn's actions delays their happily ever after storyline.
I think a surprise character is Bryan. He is Rowan's friend from college turned personal assistant while in the NFL turned bakery assistant in Winter Falls. Perhaps he should have his own story?!
The end of this book leaves us with a lead-in to Ellery's story. While I guessed what her secret was pretty quickly, I am intrigued to learn more about her story with Cole.
Small town romance where everyone knows everyone and everything going on and where our h, Ashlyn finds herself living with her secret crush, Rowan, after he inadvertently makes her sprain her ankle coming off of a ladder. She had decided to try to put her crush on him behind her and move on since he's only ever treated her like a little sister, but now she's determined to get him to see her as something more. This was a fun little rom-com with a sweet HEA.
What a lovely, funny, heartwarming story, this is the second standalone book in D.E.Haggerty's "Winter Falls" series and I am loving them.
She had loved him since she was fifteen years old when he had rode over on his charger (well, in his football pads) to rescue her from bullies.
Ashlyn West had now graduated and was back with her family in Winter Falls, Rowan Hansley had gone on to be a NFL quarterback, injury had ended a successful career and he was now back in Winter Falls as the proud owner of Bake me Happy bakery……….oh, and he was still the object of Ashlyn's desire, the only thing was, he still saw her as a little sister…….or did he ?
Winter Falls had been founded by a group of hippies many years ago and everyone lived up to the principles set, the town was completely carbon neutral, people drove golf carts instead of cars, the only food was organic and everyone knew everyone else's business including Ashlyn's crush on Rowan.
When a broken ankle forced Ashlyn to move in with Rowan she had a plan to make Rowan see her as a woman.
This story follows feisty Ashlyn's quest to snare Rowan, helped by her hilarious four sisters and the wacky residents of Winter Falls…..would she succeed ? What was Rowan's secret that was keeping them apart ?
This book is a few hours of pure entertainment and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Ashlyn and Rowan are HOT!! Forever For You is the second book in the Winter Falls Series which takes place in a small Colorado town populated by like minded, environmentally friendly people.
Ashlyn is the youngest of the five West sisters, all of whom are named after trees. Her oldest sister Aspen is featured in the first book in the series - My Forever Love. Forever For You can be read as a standalone but trust me, these are fun characters and the reader will get the most out of reading this series from the start.
Ashlyn has returned home after leaving college and takes on a number of odd jobs while she tries to figure out if she can make a living doing what she really wants. She lives with her animal loving sister Juniper who has a dog, cat and a chipmunk. Coming home provides an opportunity to regroup but also to see her long time crush Rowan. Unfortunately, Ashlyn thinks Rowan only thinks about her as a little sister so she has never attempted to pursue anything with him.
Rowan is a former NFL player who after a career ending injury and divorce returns home an opens a bakery. His divorce damaged him to the point where he doesn't think he can make anyone happy so has chosen a solitary life. He is eight years older than Ashlyn and definitely does not have sisterly thoughts about her but he doesn't feel like he can act on those feelings. When Ashlyn breaks her ankle Rowan feels responsible and moves her into his house to take care of her but their close proximity creates a challenge.
This story has meddling sisters and townspeople all working together to try to get these two together. There is also an underlying town mystery that starts in the first book and continues in this one.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It's release day 🥳🥳🥳 Ashlyn is more than ready to get this party started 😜 The woman is crazy. Don't believe me? Keep on reading
“Am I going to get a visit from Chief Alston tomorrow?” I tease. She hums and tries to twist out of my hold. Shit. I was only joking. “Ash?” She shrugs. “No one saw us.” “Saw you what?” “It’s Juniper’s fault.” “What’s Juniper’s fault?” “Everything?” “Nice try. What did you do?” “It’s not a big deal.” I wait her out. “Can’t we proceed to the sexy times now?” “As soon as you tell me what you did and reassure me I won’t be visiting you in jail for five to ten years.” “Fine,” she huffs. “We made an altar to a skunk in River’s yard. It’s his own dang fault. He never should have stolen your lucky socks.” I release her hair to wrap my arms around her as I burst out laughing. “You made an altar for a skunk? Please tell me you didn’t kill a skunk.” “It’s a stuffed animal and there are little sacrifices to the dearly departed little guy. It’s some of my best work.” “You know how much River’s scared of skunks after the time he got accidentally stuck in the locker room with one. Man, it took us months to get rid of the smell. He can’t even watch Pepé Le Pew on television without freaking out.” She giggles. “Why do you think we picked a skunk?” “I hope no one saw you.” “We’re only honoring the memory of poor Sami, officer.” She flutters her eyelashes. “You’re crazy, dream girl.”
Another laugh out loud from D.E. Haggerty and her hippie town.
Positive thoughts: - I knew Haggerty would make me laugh and she always delivers. - I loved the sassy FMC and how she tries to climb up the "adult" ladder so people can stop thinking of her as the baby, and even so her love interest can notice her. With her gazillion jobs, she is strong and motivated to get her business going. But as always they have fears that keep them grounded. It takes our MMC to give her a little push. - I loved how our MMC took care of her, although he tries so hard to keep his distance, he just can't resist.
Negative thoughts: - You might say the nosy town folk is a bit too much, but I managed to get the humour out of it. - I did reach the end and thought I needed a break from the series. The town's talk of sex is getting to me. I did think this a bit too open for my liking.
Overall: - This is a small town romance, very fast paced read, easy to read and definitely a page turner. - It will have you laughing on every page, but also feeling the angst of a unrequited love. - I don't believe this book can be read as a stand-alone. There is a mystery that starts on book one and it carries on in book 2 and I suspect will only be revealed in the last book in the series. So if you do read it as a stand-alone, this will feel like a cliff-hanger for you.
This story was set in a most unusual town. I can't imagine living my entire life in a town full of hippies. Especially where everybody knew what was going on almost before it happened! The gossip mill worked faster than you could believe.
Ashlyn finally decided to let Rowan know how she felt about him. She had loved him since she was a teenager so it was about time she stopped hiding her feelings. Since Rowan was a little older than Ashlyn, he'd always kept his distance. She thought he did that because he saw her as a little sister. Really?
This was a sweet story, but the hippy life and unusual names took some getting used to. I loved how supportive Ashlyn's sisters were and how they kept planning ways to get Ashlyn and Rowan together. It was so funny.
I enjoyed this fun story and was glad there was a HEA.
I received a complimentary copy and I am happy to give my honest thoughts.
I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was hilarious, beautiful, and just an amazing story overall. The main characters were so well written and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop over time. The other characters in this town were so much fun and were a great comedic addition to the story. I really like the mystery subplot of the story and how it’s continuing over the span of this series. Rowan and Ashlyn were great together and I picked up Ellery’s story as soon as I finished this one.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I'm not sure how its possible but I loved this book more than the first. Every character is well written and developed. Even sub characters who you know will not get their own stories.
There is a perfect balance throughout the story of hilarity, passion, drama and small town antics. My only complaint was that I read it too fast!
I absolutely loved this book so much. Luckily I started it on a day that I didn't have to go in to work, because it would have been very hard to put down!!
First of all, Ashlyn's relationship with her family and everyone in the small town of Winter Falls is so much fun to read about. The nosiness of all the townspeople mixed in with the true love that her sisters and parents have for one another make for an interesting life!!
Now let's talk about Rowan! I'm glad that he found a new career in baking after the injury that ended his NFL career! Who would think that a big macho football player would ever come back to his small hometown and open a bakery? But he made it work and honestly I can't even picture Rowan doing anything but now. His relationship with his former PA and now bakery assistant is so funny!
Put Ashlyn and Rowan together and it's just magic. She hates that he treats her like she's his litter sister and he fully believes that by wanting to protect her is in her best interest, even if it means keeping her at arms length!
Forever For You is book 2 in the Winter Falls series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Although I personally am going to go back and read book 1 because I want more of the back story on one of Ashlyn's sister's romance, and I will definitely be reading more Winter Falls books in the future!
I received an advance review copy for free and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed the characters and story of Ashlyn and Rowan. I did not read any of the other winter falls books but this worked great as a stand-alone. That being said, with so many meddling busy bodies in Ashlyn’s family and in the town it could get complicated trying to keep names straight and that may have been easier if I’d read earlier books so I did not consider that in my review!
When Ashlyn has an injury and is suddenly forced to recover in the home of her life-long crush, she is filled with mixed emotions. Rowan hasn’t paid her any attention since she returned from college and she’s been trying to forget him!
Rowan had a career ending injury and a nasty divorce and something else that’s keeping him from acting on his feelings for Ashlyn but he still keeps her close!
This forced proximity has tensions mounting and with Ashlyn’s meddling sisters things seem to finally be taking off for these two!
I would’ve been enjoyed a little more time with Rowan’s past so we could fully understand his hesitance, it seemed like as soon as we found out what was wrong it was resolved.
Other than that Haggerty did an amazing job letting us in the world of winter hills with all of its chaos and color!
I received an advance copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
This was a cute romance, but too silly for my taste. I have enjoyed many books by this author, but this was not my favorite. I think there was too much "will they, won't they" for my taste. The characters were not honest with themselves or each other.
That said, it was a cute book and it's entirely possible that I just wasn't in the right place for this story. Either way, the book is worth a vacation read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ashlyn and Rowan are so Flippin cute together. The sisters are too funny and the way they plot to get these two together is hilarious. Ashlyn is such a feisty and independent woman who goes hard after what she wants and Rowan is a little older, grumpy, sexy, but kind at heart. When they get together even if for a few minutes, sparks erupt like the Fourth of July. This is book two in the series but can be read alone. Those who read it will definitely enjoy it and if not, what is wrong with you:-) Great job writing this one D. E. Haggerty!
I received this book for free from booksiren and my review and opinion are my own!
I have a problem with this one, and his name is Rowan. He's fine as a person, but he's a terrible romantic lead.
Spoiler alert:
Everyone in town knows that Asyln has a huge crush on him, but because he has a major hang up about his perceived failures as a man he's decided that he can never have a relationship with her. It doesn't stop him from being a huge dog in the manger and jerk toward her, though, repeatedly. When she tries to stay away from him in order to get over him and move on, he insists that she stay at his house to recover from a broken ankle. He kisses her, then tells her it was a mistake. He sleeps with her, then tells her he can't be with her. He finally seems to give in, then just stands there and does nothing to let her know that he wants her to stay--not just for a minute or two, but long enough for her to pack her bags and leave. Then he lets her suffer in her heartbreak until the next day, when he says he's sorry in front of the whole town and she's suddenly over it. I'm sorry, but he needed to grovel a lot more than he did.
My other issue is the back story about the hidden money. Saying that $50,000 from 1955 would be the equivalent of half a million dollars in today's money doesn't mean that there's now a literal half million laying around. Unless they invested it and got compound interest, it's hasn't magically multiplied.
I grabbed this on another Chirp daily audiobook deal and thought the premise sounded fun. It was a quick read and I love a good love story.
Ashlyn Dream West is 24 and has been in love with former NFL quarterback Rowan for as long as she can remember. It's a well known secret throughout their small town of Winter Falls. Bakeshop owner Rowan has a thing for Ash too, even though she has no clue. He just can't give her what he knows she wants. His need to take care of her forces them into a situation where she stays with him while rehabbing from an ankle injury. Forced proximity does its job and the two get together, but can they make it work?
The narration in this book was strange. The female MC sounded super childish and the male sounded off too. And I can't with the hippie community with characters named Cayenne, Clove, Petal, Lilac, Juniper, Sage, Lyric and more. The whole thing just felt pretty over the top for me.
Ashlyn West has loved Rowen Hansley from the age of fifteen when he rolled in like her very own knight in shining amour saving her from some rather cruel bullies. The only problem with being in love with Rowen is that he has never looked at her as more than his little sister that needs to be protected. Now that Ashlyn is all grown up and back home from college she is determined to get Rowen to see her as a women and not this little girl that always needs saving, but as luck would have it as soon as Ashlyn returns home she lands up breaking her ankle which is how she lands up staying with Rowen… maybe this is exactly the chance that she needs to go from damsel in distress to Rowan’s lady..
..
I just love a good sports romance and that is exactly what Haggerty gives us in this super cute small town romcom. I loved both of these two characters and getting to follow them as they figure out their feelings for each other was just romance gold!
..
Oh Ashlyn, I just loved her. She was such a feisty character and I really enjoyed getting to see her go after what she has always wanted. I just loved her relationship with her sister and her parents. This family really has a cute story and a bond unlike any other. One of my favourite things about this book was the nosey small town residents of Winter Falls, gosh I really do love this hippie little town and all the quirky residents.
..
Now for our hottie former NFL player Rowen, gosh this guy had things going on after having a career ending injury and experiencing a messy divorce I just wanted to see him get that much needed happily ever after. Which is kind of what made seeing him finally allowing himself to fall for Ashlyn all the more sweet. I just loved the connection and chemistry between these two character. There were a few moments that might have come across as childish behaviour but I think it was more that they were so comfortable with each other.
..
Forever For You is a total must read! This super cute sports romance will melt you heart while wishing that you could book a one way ticket to the cute town of Winter Falls. I can not wait to see what Haggerty has planned for next, I need to get back to this quirky cute small town asap!
2.5-3 🌟stars This volume in the Winter Falls romance series continued matching up the West sisters in their tiny town where everyone knows not just your name but your every move! The concept is cute but in this second full novel it turned up the zany factor too high for me, and hit some flat notes with the main couple and those ubiquitous West sisters.
I could not get too sympathetic for either female lead Ash or Rowan the former NFL player who Ash has lusted after since she was a kid. His angsty big secret flaw was a tempest in a teacup and she struck me as a stubborn, immature whiner. Maybe they deserve each other, but I found Rowan's constant harping in his mind on how he does not deserve her and can't make her happy as tiring. Plus, the night they get it on felt wrong after all his posturing about how they cannot be an item.
As for Ash's sisters Aspen, Lilac, Juniper and Ellery, their constant ganging up, reminiscing about their many youthful exploits and arguing was too much. Some meddling is fine but these four were popping up ALL THE TIME!
This can be read as a standalone but My Forever Love provided a lot more background on the uniqueness of their town's history and green lifestyle. If you read this story as a standalone you will probably wonder why golf carts are THE mobile transportation around town.
I would recommend My Forever Love (Winter Falls #1), Aspen and Lyric's story, but this one was a miss for me.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Being in love with a man 8 years older is difficult especially when he treats you like his sister, but what if he doesn't think of you like that?
Ashlyn is the second sister to find love in the Winter Falls series. She's been in love with Rowan since she was 15 and at 23, nothing has changed including Rowan not having any feelings for her. When she breaks her ankle, Rowan insists that she stay with him until she recovers. As they get closer due to their living arrangements and the meddling busybodies in town, Ashlyn discovers Rowan is not as immune as she believed.
Ashlyn is a total firecracker and so much fun to follow around. Her love for Rowan is so cute and I loved watching them interact especially when she can interrupt all of Rowan's grunts. One character I wish we saw more of was Bryan, Rowan's assistant, because he was absolutely hilarious. Also really appreciated that the author made Rowan a baker after his football career. It's so unique and different from the typical career a football player would take and I liked that he was able to take care of Ashlyn in that way. It made him all the more lovable especially with those red velvet pancakes.
I LOVE this series. It's so underrated. The entire town is hilarious and the West's mom is just a hoot. They make the story even better and I love how they basically know everything and meddle to ensure the people they love are happy.
I receive an ARC via BookSiren for an honest review.
The author provides enough background so that this book can be read as a standalone although it's helpful to read this series in order. Winter Falls is a unique green community founded on hippie culture and individualism. Nothing is a secret in this quirky little town. Ashlyn is the youngest of five West sisters. She returned home after college and works odd jobs while establishing herself as an audio book reader. Rowan became a Superbowl winning quarterback. After an injury, retirement and divorce, he has returned to Winter Falls and opened a bakery. Ashlyn has had a huge crush on Rowan since she was 15. Rowan is attracted to Rowan but thinks he's too much older and too damaged for a relationship. Their story is filled with frenetic humor, the quirkiness of Winter Falls plus some heat and dual POVs as these characters finally get to a HEA. I downgraded one star for two reasons. First, I found Ashlyn’s inability to listen or take care of herself (such as by allowing her ankle to heal) to be immature and mildly irritating. Second, the unresolved plot thread introduced in the first book about a mysterious treasure shows up again in this story as a distraction. I still really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next book of this series. Recommended! I received a review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
So excited to visit Winter Falls once again. I cannot get enough of this unique town and the people in it.
This is the second book of the Winter Falls series but, you don’t need to read the first book.
In this book we get to know Ashlyn, the youngest West sister. She’s less serious than her siblings, the live on the wild side, just don’t get caught (however, everyone knows about your shenanigans) kinda gal.
Rowan is your grumpy sunshine. He uses grunts as a form of communication. Was a pro NFL player, but now he runs a popular bakery in Winter Falls.
Ashlyn has been in love with Rowan since she could remember. Rowan being a couple years older than her, she believes that he only sees her as a little sister and would never have the same feelings as she has for him. Little does she know…
An unfortunate turn of events for Ashlyn has her staying at Rowan’s place temporarily. The more time they spend together, both of their true feelings start to surface.
As if that isn’t enough excitement to read through, the sisters come across another clue regarding the mystery of the Black Hat Bandits missing loot.
Absolutely loved this book! Can’t wait to visit Winter Falls again.
I received an ARC and I am leaving a review voluntarily.
Sadly, this book just wasn’t for me. I think it was partly that I thought I was more in the mood for a romcom than I actually was, which is on me. I just didn’t find myself pulled into the story or connecting with the characters here
I had a hard time with the town and all the quirky names. And the treasure subplot just seemed so randomly thrown in there. I’m guessing both of these things would have had more context had I read the first book in this series, so that’s also on me
I didn’t feel much of a connection between Rowan and Ash. The reason keeping them apart could have been easily solved by a single conversation (not that I would ever want to diminish this issue and anyone going through it as I can only imagine the emotional toll it can take. I’m just saying that it would have been more compelling to see them actually work through it. Instead it’s used only as a plot device to keep them apart and then magically fixed immediately after they get together)
I feel I’m being harsh here, though. I can certainly see why a lot of people really enjoyed this book. If you’re in the mood for a breezy rom com with a quirky small town, then this one is worth a go.
Loving this small town romance series! Winter falls sounds like such a hoot! Gas cars are illegal, everyone goes about on golf carts, walks or bikes. And every single neighbour and townie are 100% in your business. It would drive me nuts but it’s so much fun to read about. No one seems to have it worse than the 5 west sisters, who have the whole town to contend with like everyone else, but a posse of snoopy sisters to boot. In this one Ashlyn and Rowan have it bad for each other, but due to something (which turns out to be nothing but lies courtesy of the machinations of his gold digging ex-wife) beyond his control Rowan has convinced himself he can never make a a woman happy, yes of course he can’t actually convince himself To stay away from her. Which is why she ends up moving in with him after she breaks her ankle, which Rowan was kinda a teensy bit responsible for, and this just as Ashlyn decides she is done with pining for him after his mixed signals crush her yet again.
People may be crazy and interfering in this town but isn´t this better than everybody being indifferent about their fellow citizens? I loved how the town combined forces to get rid of Rowen´s ex wife from hell: how dare she leave him when he is injured and his career ends abruptly, telling him he can´t provide for the luxurious lifestyle she cares about any more, take half of what he worked hard for and have the nerve to come back after she spent all the money and ask for a second chance? In her selfishness, she even told him a lie that kept him from pursuing his well deserved happiness and thus amost ruining his and Ash´s future. Fortunately nobody in Winter Falls has any qualms about forcing what´s right for you on their fellow citizens - it´s always a pleasure to read about the many different ways they choose to do so. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another fun read to add to the series. The madcap happenings continue in Forever For You, Book 2 set in the kooky town of Winter Falls where the residents wear the term busybody like a badge of honor! This time it’s Ashlyn and Rowan under their scrutiny. Ashlyn has had a crush on Rowan since he saved her from a bully in high school but her obsession with him ratchets up when she returns home from college. The whole town knows Ash is crushing hard on Rowan but for the past 12 months Rowan has kept her at arm’s length for his own reasons. Being a troublemaker with four sisters and a whole town of busybodies leads to numerous laugh out loud situations, lots of meddling and a town hell bent on matchmaking. Ash ends up staying at Rowan’s while a broken ankle heals, can the proximity finally get them together? Grab this delightful book and find out as you flip through the pages with a smile on your face.
Fun, Laughs, Drama and Heat in Quirky Small-Town Winter Falls...
This is the second story about the West sisters in the eco-conscious, hippy, nosy, small town Winter Falls series and although it can definitely be read as a standalone the books are so much fun you will want to read all of them (easy to do if you have KU). Ashlyn is the second of the West sisters to return to after college and begin her "adult life". Of course she swears she will no longer be in love with her lifelong crush NFL star turned baker (swoon!) Ronan. Naturally, her broken ankle forces them into close proximity when she HAS to move in with him so he can care for her while the entire town and her family conspire to make romance happen. Heat, hilarity and angst due to their hidden pasts ensue while the mystery of the hidden treasure from the first book continues. This was a great read and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Forever dreams do come true for this dream girl and her dream man Forever For You (Winter Falls Book 2) by D.E. Haggerty is a another wildly awesome romcom in the quirky small town of Winter Falls. This romcom has a lot going for it as a great read. Namely, the characters. The heroine is feisty as all get out and while she attempts to forget all about her dream man, Ashlyn refuses to give up. Rowan on the other hand is stuck in the idiot Hero realm thanks to a real piece of work antagonist. In addition to the love story of Ashlyn and Rowan, there's also the continuation of the mystery discovered in Book 1. And, all the unique and quirky townsfolk lovingly interfere, encourage and even bet on everything! Overall, Dream Girl gets her Dream Man and it's HEA bound for Ashlyn and Rowan. Better yet, the ending is an awesome, surprising and can't wait for it beginning! I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
I was very excited for this book because I’ve enjoyed book one and previous Haggerty books. This one although good fell short for me. I did like the book but I do not like how the characters just refuse to talk to each other and explain things. Instead they will let things fester, build off of assumptions and would rather live in pain rather than open communication and honesty. The townsfolk are still funny, as are the parents but I find some of the meddling just that….meddling. The mystery with the bank robber is really being dragged out as well. This book was a miss for me. I’m still very interested and curious about the other sisters though and will definitely read those books because I do enjoy Haggerty’s books. This grumpy bear gave this one a 3.5 but rounded it up to 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
I received this book as an ARC from BookSirens.com for my unbiased and honest review. Check them out!
Ashlyn West has been in love with Rowan Hansley since she was 16 and he was 24. He’s a retired NFL player who moved back to Winter Falls and opened a bakery. Ashlyn returned to her hometown after graduation from college. Ashlyn feels like Rowan treats her like his little sister. She sets out to get over Rowan when she accidentally breaks her ankle. Rowan insists she recover at his place since he has a bathroom off his bedroom. Ashlyn’s family agrees with Rowan about his place being best. Ashlyn and Rowan get used to each other at his house. Ashlyn has a career that she tries hard to keep secret. Throw in four meddling sisters, a couple best friends, one horrendous ex-wife, a trouble-seeking heroine, a scarred/scared hero, some comedy, crazy townsfolk, and you have an excellent second book in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

I'm pretty sure I have a girl crush on Ashlyn. Probably all of the sisters, actually. I love her feisty attitude and her ability to speak her mind all of the time. The way to sisters always have each other's back has this only child's heart longing for some siblings of her own! *tear!*
The character development of the entire community in this series really brings you to the town of Winter Falls. I can picture it and place myself in the town meetings, at the bakery and at all of the festivals. Ms. Haggerty is clearly an exceptional writer who knows how to put you into the story.
I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the arc of this story, since I'm not typically a fan of the "age gap" but this one is sooooo good. It's not in your face about it, and you really need to read it. I can't wait to read about the rest of the sisters. I hope to find out more about the community as we go too! Wherever the story takes us, I'm sure we will be LOLing along the way!
Ashlyn is the youngest of the five West sister. She has been in love with Rowan since she was sixteen. Rowan keeps shying away from her and she doesn’t understand why. As they say, it takes a village…
The five West sisters are close-knit. They love each other to pieces and never hesitate to get into each other’s business. Then again, in the town of Winter Falls, everybody gets into each other’s business. All the quirky, meddling townspeople pitched in to help the West sisters help Ashlyn and Rowan find their happily ever after.
I highly recommend this light-hearted series. The West sisters are funny and the town of Winter Falls is home to the motley-est crew of characters. Even the town hall meetings are fun.
