I tend to not read book blurbs before I start reading, but I think this would have been a good time if I would have...
I didn't find this volume quite as exciting as the first volume and not sure why because I really really love Claire's character so much. She is such an admirable and strong character and have enjoyed seeing her offered a chance at the academy to grow in regards to her magic.
I *think* I unexpectedly had different expectations coming into this volume because one of my favorite parts in the previous volume was Claire becoming a governess. While she still is and we see some of that, this volume does focus more on Claire being at the academy. For some reason I wasn't quite as excited about that as I thought I would be, even though I still found it a good read.
My favorite part of this volume was definitely the growing romance! Claire and Vik are too cute together and definitely need some more precious moments between them! While I felt on the fence if I would want to keep reading the series, that ending makes me want to read the next volume as soon as I can! (I should note that I DO want to keep reading this series, but it was more of an issue if I wanted to buy the volume or not. If my library had the series I would definitely want to see get it ASAP!)
Overall, a good continuing volume even if it went in a slightly different direction than I expected. Very much looking forward to seeing what happens next because I want to see this cute romance be acknowledged by our main "couple"!
Claire Martino’s life had been planned from the second she was born. Everything changed when it turned out she had weak magical abilities. Her family turned on her, her fiancé prepared to marry her younger sister, and every single good thing in her life slipped straight through her fingers. When it turns out her little sister is behind setting her up to lose everything, Claire sneaks away to start over. Now that she’s in Paffuto, it turns out that even her magical abilities are far stronger than anyone could’ve ever imagined, and now she’s a governess who is attending the royal academy to learn how to control her magic.
When I picked up the first volume, I was not expecting to get so sucked into the story. I read the first two volumes back to back because I just couldn’t get enough. We follow Claire as she discreetly slips away from her life to start over, but she accidentally finds herself close friends with the future king of Paffuto and discovers that her magical abilities are crazy strong!
I love seeing Claire start over and slowly uncover the mystery behind her mother’s birth. The characters are interesting, the plot is top tier, and the artwork is stunning. I’m particularly interested in seeing how things slowly unfold with her jealous younger sister as the story progresses. Plus, it’ll be interesting to see just how much Claire can do and how many people have figured out who her mother really is.
All in all, I’m really enjoying this series and I look forward to checking out the novels as well. My only complaint is that it turns out that Claire’s life is also a video game. At this point, it doesn’t really make sense because we’ve barely spent any time with her in our world. The things she’s learned from the brief moments she’s been in our world hasn’t added anything to the story because she either already had that information or was headed in that direction anyway. So far, this plot point has only disrupted the pace of the story, but I hope to see it pan out as I continue to read.
It’s hilariously dramatic, and not in a good way 😅 so many sudden events, and each time it acts like it’s shocking while resolving immediately. Claire initially said she thought Vik and co had guessed her identity. But Vik and Keith have a conversation about how it’s too bad her bloodline isn’t good enough to marry him. She goes to the library to research the fall of Lindel, and there’s an incredibly stupid convo about how it’s the royal family’s fault that the Lindel fell (although Vik says it’s only his theory about what happened…). Claire reveals that her mom was probably the surviving princess…ok, so that’s just written there in these records? Really? And then…OMG, her mom was probably assassinated!! No proof or reason to think that, but how dare her father not be capable of protecting his wife from the assassination he didn’t know about! I mean gosh, let’s not ever bring up that her dad had a mistress and Charlotte is only slightly younger than she is…but the mom died when she was five. He already sucked!
It’s not enough that her mom was a princess, she drunkenly reveals that her dad is the duke (at some point she said she was disowned…uh, no, you literally fled your family without leaving word of where you were going. No one is worried?) and that she was engaged to the crown prince. I guess the two countries are so uninformed about each other that this crown prince is unaware of the lifelong fiancee of the other crown prince.
OMG, there’s suddenly a MAGICAL TORNADO, we’re doomed! Oooh, you can “purify” the air and stop the tornado! Only possible by an exceptionally strong magic user, which doesn’t exist, except for….Claire! Her grandmother (presumably the paternal one) totally purified one once! It just requires going “spirits purify the air” the same as you would for purifying anything. Why couldn’t a bunch of magic users do the same thing on a smaller scale? Dunno!
And now…there’s a ball for Vik to pick his bride. But he won’t invite his cousin! Even though there are a ton of other women, so it’s not like an invite means you’re marrying him. Even her 13yo student got invited! She has a convo with Liu that makes no sense - she’s surprised Vik doesn’t already have a fiancée, Liu says yeah, it’s normal for noblemen to be engaged, and then that’s the end as if it makes sense that Vik isn’t engaged.
We get a glimpse of charlotte’s inner crazy bitch. She’s not gonna last long.
Btw, her student’s hair is so weirdly drawn that I keep thinking she has a scarf on her head…😆

Shortie review for Vol.2 to 5: The series continues to be fun, I really liked seeing Vik and Claire get closer and closer and with the help of some people finally take that step. I did feel that things were a tad odd at times, I mean, Claire is a governess/nanny but you barely see her do anything and she is mostly away, but I did like the moments we did see her with the girl she is teaching. There are tons of fun magic moments, I loved that Claire was honest and hardworking, we see that Charlotte is a real mess, and there is a big shock which leads to a new arc with the help of those flashbacks (which apparently aren't that much of a flashback, I am curious to see what they really are and what it means). I wasn't really a fan of the new bit, because I have read too many books like this and I know butterfly effect, if you change one thing something else may happen, not to mention THAT character was around as well. I wonder though if Liu knows. Oh, and dear Claire, I like you, you are strong and awesome character with a fab personality, but your sister (step) is just a fucking evil mastermind. I don't think you can fix it. Though maybe you can make it so that she isn't too bad, I mean, holy crap that scene before the new arc. And I still love the art! I am curious how this one will go and if everyone will get a happy ending (or at least the characters I care about, haha).
Denn ansonsten wäre so einiges anderes wenig spannend.
Okay, I admit at this point it’s straight out cliché. Prince learns she’s a high noble. Now it’s a chance that she can be “his.” Instead of him wishing she can be his mistress (yes ladies, he went there).
Yada yada yada
King sorts of approve, and etc. Now both prince and Claire wants to be together, but they think they don’t belong to each other, etc.
Okay, so we all know where this is going. Now you’re wondering why does this has 5 stars. Well it’s cause I like this manga. It’s cute and I’m rooting for Charlotte to end up in a ditch. Lady got to leave!
I’m just waiting for Claire to fight for her family and kick Charlotte off a tower. But she’s too sweet for that. Also, can’t wait for they two dorks in love to admit their feelings for each other. In short, this story satisfies my need for fluff and my need to imagine different scenarios for our characters.
Claire and Vik very obviously have very strong feelings for each other; all this social status and such is making things so frustrating! I have less to say about this volume than the last but that does not mean I didn’t enjoy it all the same. The worldbuilding is wonderful as are the characters. We’re getting to know the Reine daughter a little better and she’s quickly become Claire’s winglady. I feel that while Claire may end up with a lot of enemies in Noston and perhaps in Paffuto as well due to her lineage, her friendships with greatly outweigh the enemies she gains. I feel that she could easily befriend even her rivals at school. I love to see Claire and Vik both blossom. It reminds me of Snow White with the Red Hair but I enjoy how this manga is formatted better. I’m so very excited to read more!

Royal magic school seems like a good place to insert some conflict into this story, but nope it's very calm. Claire observes another girl being bullied but it's resolved without incident. Her governess job is perfectly pleasant as well.
A big magic tornado threatens the city and we get to see Claire use her newly upgraded magic to help. Backstory for the kingdoms is explored and there are hints that political machinations may be afoot but nothing materializes.
Relaxing manga continues to be relaxing, but even I find myself hoping something will actually happen.
This is still a cute story, but the pacing is also still pretty fast. We finally got to see what Charlotte is up to. That girl has one neck of an ugly face when she's being her true self.
The reveal of Claire's likely true heritage happened so quickly. It's acknowledged, but still felt weird. I'm enjoying this series, but the pacing does still put me off a little. I'm interested in how it turns out, so I plan to keep reading.
very cliché (of course she's the long lost princess and guess what she has the strongest magic ever) but still quite enjoyable. I was kinda hoping that Lui would be romanceable...they are so sweet to each other.
overall good though there's one scene where Vik is like, 'I wish that [Claire] was the kind of woman who would be my mistress' and I was like 🤨 lol. still, that cliffhanger...can't believe he didn't invite her to the ball!!! what will happen now that she's going??

There's more than a little bit of misconception going around, but it's adorable and hilarious at the same time. Claire has unintentionally garnered the respect and approval Vik needed to choose her through her actions, though that wasn't her intention. She genuinely just wanted to help everyone. It's rather adorable how Vik's advisors and Miss Isabella are rooting for the pair, though they both seem convinced they should settle for friends and being able to support the other in their goals.

I am enjoying this a great deal. I love how the author has built up the world as well as allowed us to see the two sides of the heroine. Different but very well done. Cannot wait to read more
The saga continues as Claire starts to build a new life in Vik’s. And the two are starting to fall for each other. She also uses some pretty powerful magic. And we’re thinking that at the prince’s ball, he’s gonna choose her as his fiancé.
Still really enjoying this one. I appreciate the unique relationship between the heroine & hero, and that he’s trying to take her happiness into account.
