Scar’s Secret is the third installment in K.L. Barstow’s Demon Dawgs MC—San Diego series. In it she chronicles the romantic journey of Caitlen Chambers and Joshua “Scar” Contos. Caitlin survived a brutal attack from a serial killer, who discarded her mutilated body outside the Demon Dawgs MC compound. Scar, a medic, cares for her. He aided her sister, Tally, who is a trauma doctor and his president’s Old Lady. It does not take long for Scar to fall in love with Caitlin. However, her past sucks her back into a tornado of sadistic events arranged by her mother and her ex-boyfriend. Together, those two are persistent in kidnapping Caitlin and forcing her to marry Gerard, the sadistic ex-boyfriend. Why? No one knows. Can the Demon Dawgs and Scar keep her safe? To find out what unfolds, you must read this book.
Ms. Barstow does an outstanding job with this biker romance. She manages to capture the camaraderie of a biker MC through the skillful use of literary devices creates a heartwarming and suspenseful tale of betrayal, family, and true friendship. Her dialog, both conversational and internal monologues are outstanding. Readers garner a better understanding of their character traits, their back stories, their pain, and their happiness. The lead characters are multi-dimensional. The secondary characters and the antagonists add interest and help to move this plot along. I liked the way she uses intrigue to enhance this character-driven romantic plot and capture her readers attention.

❤️ the series - Needs professional editing and proofing
This is the third story of the Demon Dawgs MC (DDMC) series. I DO NOT consider this to be a STAND-ALONE read. There are multiple reoccurring characters, concurrent and consecutive timelines, and themes that carry through from the beginning. The stories are also interwoven, so a lot of details that occurred previously would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.
** There are multiple scenes, themes and references to subjects that will be difficult for sensitive readers. These include abduction, mental health challenges, and trafficking. A high-level list is included below. **
— Although I try to watch it, if you have not read this (or the previous stories in the series), the following may contain spoilers. —
The structure of these stories are different than any I have read previously. For the most part, the couples are already in lust / love and entered into a relationship, there is just something (or someone) that prevents them from fully committing. There are a few stories in the series where we get to share in the moment when the H/h first meet in a previous story, Scar’s Secret is one of them.
FYI … The main couple will find their HFN, but there is a cliffhanger at the end to introduce the next story. The story universe is good, the plots sometimes broadcast the antagonist(s), there is a lot of action (some of the antagonists are persistent!), but really ❤️ the bad boys cleaning up their businesses to be all legal. Just really need some more character descriptions!
There are dark themes running through this entire series, it is based upon a 1%-er MC after all. While these are mentioned and dealt with in some aspect, the focus is not on the violence, but living, loving, 🥰and finding your place in the 🌎.
I have looked forward to reading more about Caitlin, aka the club Princess, and the man that would help support and love her through her recovery. That is why it is so disappointing that I just can’t justify a higher rating. I highly, highly recommend these stories be professionally edited and proofread. Once the issues are corrected, including the grammatical, formatting and data inconsistencies, the DDMC universe’s potential will be unlimited.
I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are multiple grammatical errors throughout that include incorrect word choices, word tenses, capitalization and punctuation issues, missing and extra inserted words, and typos. There is inconsistent formatting with possessive words, but the dialogue tags and quotes will require some time.
** Spoilers ahead ** My biggest issue with this story is the inconsistencies. One example is with the lawsuit where Gareth sues for the cost of the wedding, plus the value of an engagement ring that Caitlin didn’t return. The whole premise is that she was railroaded and pressured to marry Gareth Standish in a ‘surprise’ wedding thrown by him and her parents. So when did he propose and give her a ring? If this did happen, why would she accept it?
Another example is with the bulletproof SUV. All newer vehicles have automatic door locks that engage when it is put into gear, or reaches a certain speed. That means there is no way for someone to open the door from the outside to forceable remove someone from the vehicle. There is more around both of these subplots, but I don’t want to give too many spoilers, just explain some of my issues with the story. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.

Dear K.L. Barstow I am officially hooked. I can't deny it anymore. Since Book 2 left off in a cliff hanger that made me gasp of course I had to dive right into book 3. I am really appreciating how they all tie in so far to a larger picture and the author does it seamlessly. It gives you little ah ha moments while you are reading and putting the pieces together. Quick read and yes there is spice on top of a action filled story.

This book took me forever to read! I kept counting the chapters, but would read and finish other books. How many times can a woman get kidnapped? Like oh my goodness Caitlyn. The story line of her being raped and all of a sudden falling hard for Scar??? This was a bit unbelievable for me. I felt there was a lot of back and forth,too many storylines and many people who were deceitful to the Demon Dawgs. I started to get confused

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lots of action, multiple kidnappings, lots of twisted happenings, and a return of someone thought lost. A lot happens the brothers and their ladies. Some retribution is enjoyed, amoral wonderful surprises are announced while Scar and his lady get their HEA. Really enjoyed this one. No cheating, no cliffhanger. HEA. Lead-in to the next book.

Wow I didn't know how Caitlin survived all that she went through several times while she was kidnapped, but luckily for her the last time she had her own ammunition. Crazy twist and turns throughout but KL did a great job with this story and looking forward to the next one. Happy reading.

great story, horrible editing!
I was drawn in by the story but the editing on this book was distracting. So many mistakes! I am looking forward to the rest of the books in the series but sure hope the author takes more time to spell things correctly and check some of the sentences to make sure they make sense!

Scar's Secret
I'm so excited and I just gotta write it. I loved, loved everything about this book. I'm excited to read the next and the next. I feel like these just get better everytime. Scar and Caitlin have been thru so much I thought the hits would never stop coming. I'm definitely intrigued with what Standish said just before he stormed away.

Scar’s Secret: Demon Dawgs MC book 3
So far I have loved reading all these books in the series ❤️❤️❤️ each one is spectacular in its own right. These men of the MC are fierce and loyal, protecting their women and their club. Scar and Caitlin’s story is just as exciting. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed it!!!
My favorite character in this book is Caitlin and the reason why is because she went from victim to a survivor and she ended up being a total B.A. I like Scar aka Josh with Caitlin because he makes her feel loved and stronger because someone other than her sister stands up for her.

HIGHLY ENTERTAINING DRAMA
This is the third book of this series. With each new adventure for this MC Club, all the characters and their backgrounds continue to evolve and become more pertinent to each new drama. Each adventure so far grows in its intensity and adds to the mystique over the lives of each MC member and their families.

I am In Love with Scar
How much bad luck can one girl have? Seriously? Poor Caitlin had the absolute worst luck and this book is not easy for her.
I think that’s why there are zero relationship issues for Caitlin and Scar unlike the previous two books. No, all the drama and darkness comes from outside. Scar and Caitlin are so freaking sweet together. I loved them so much.

This is a great series
I live the story line. There's romance, mystery, and action. The books tie together well. I feel some more editing would improve the experience. A lot of mis-used words like there for their and missing pronouns. But I would read them again.

This book is full of action, mystery, mayhem, and hot steamy passion!! It may be too much for some readers so heed trigger warnings. With that being said, Caitlyn is one strong, beautiful, smart, and talented heroine!!! Scar is tall, handsome, smart, and alpha!!

Money makes the world go round
The rollercoaster ride this book is has me shellshocked. The thrills and spills just kept on coming. There were quite a few sad situations too and the trauma these ladies suffered was unimaginable. It’s not over yet so I’m looking for the next one.

What a rollercoaster ride!
I'm glad this is just a (great) story. I am too old for sh!+ like this. Putting down the book and getting chores done or going to sleep before midnight was very hard.
