From USA TODAY and Bestselling author, Stacey Marie Brown comes the re-imagined short story of Red Riding Hood. This story used to be part of the Monster's Ball Anthology (no longer available)They call me Red.Not for the color hair I have, mine’s black as night, nor the cape I wear when I hunt, that came after. My name is Red…for the blood trail I leave.I am a hunter, a rare magical witch gifted to destroy the werewolves that plague our land. A job I ate and breathed for the last year, after the brutal death of my parents. But finally hunting down Grayson, leader of the Bloodstone pack, who killed my family, turns out to be a lot more complicated than I thought.
Stacey Marie Brown is a lover of hot fictional bad boys and sarcastic heroines who kick butt. She also enjoys books, travel, TV shows, hiking, writing, design, and archery. Stacey swears she is part gypsy, being lucky enough to live and travel all over the world.
It may be short (the opposite of what I like in a man) but this hits allll the right spots. We get enemies to lovers, dagger to the throat, the works and spice to boot. Loved it.
Fantastic little novella. Read it in one sitting. Instant gratification. Action/spice right off the bat. Only downside was it went too fast. I hope there will be more in the series. Warning though if insta love bothers you this isn’t the book for you.
This was a super fast paced novella, very short and too the point. There was a bit too much world building in the beginning, I feel like with shorter stories you have to leave some of the world building out and sort of let the reader create the world. Everything else about the story was perfect.
This was a steamy short story; there was really only one scene. I picked it up to try out this author's style. It was short, so of course everything felt rushed, but I enjoyed it.
I initially read this short story in the monster ball anthology and fell in love with it. Grayson is so swoony and Red is kickass. This one has everything from daggers to throats to spice. It’s a great enemies to lovers story!
Sexy novella. I always love Stacey Marie Brown. This was sexy and well written, with a lot of information communicated for such a short book. Really well done.
The beginning was very intriguing. We start the book running. I seem to like books where the story begins right away and doesn't spend the first few chapters building the setting/history. The background is sprinkled throughout enough it doesn't distract from the story. The FMC is a badass heroine. She's on a mission to avenge her parents, and the MMC is your typical badass Alpha.
It's set in a modern time (what seems to be) and is a play on Little Red Riding Hood. The story was narrated well for how short it was. The FMC doesn't back down or cower from the MMC, which is a total win for me! Although, the only thing that got me was towards the ending. Like, I was confused for a bit because it sort of came out of nowhere? Maybe I need to read another book or something to understand better, but that threw me for a loop. I get it though, it's a paranormal romance; anything can happen.
Overall, it was a good read. If you need something short and kind of spicy, this might be it. If you're in the mood for a twist on the red riding hood story with a kick-ass heroine, this may be it.
