A young girl named Heaven struggles to survive on the cold, damp streets of foggy San Francisco with her dying mother who was kicked out of her family's home as a pregnant teenager after a miraculous Immaculate Conception.
Now, as a demon-summoning serial killer stalks young homeless girls in the City by the Bay, and a gang of teenaged, devil-worshipping thugs terrorize the denizens of the streets, Heaven and Hell clash in an unholy war over the soul of an angelic child.
With the help of a handsome priest and a dedicated homicide detective, Heaven stands toe to cloven-hoof against the evil entity that desires to possess her immortal soul. From the haunted piers of Fisherman’s Warf to the dark alleys of the skyscraper canyons, evil runs rampant.
A young girl named Heaven is on the streets of San Francisco as her mother passed away but little does the girl know that something bad is terrorizing the streets as an evil serial killer is on a collision course with Heaven and will stop at nothing to cause terror within the town!
That is about all I can give on a small backstory without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more than go read this book!
Thoughts:
This was one scary and creepy story as it goes deep into the occult which will spook you out of your skin! Loved the characters in this one as they were fleshed out well and the shivering terror that lies deep within the story is slowly brought forth in dread and suspense!
This is a big book with 500 pages but the spookiness of the story kept me buried within its pages and the "terror of the demon" along with all the characters of what they went through kept me reading this book at the speed of light!
The author keeps the suspense and horror slowly building then the story takes off into demonic terror! Another great book by this author and this one was right down my "shivering street" as I love reading about occult stories that keep me on the edge of my seat and giving me bad dreams. Had some creepy wild dreams with this story! Giving this book five "Dark and Scary Demon" stars!
The cover is NOT cliché (another reviewer's opinion). I've read several JD Allen books and he's an author with integrity, class, and talent that is endless. Back to the book. I loved the style, the horror elements and the classical feel, giving you that familiarity of the dread found in the Sentinel by Jeffery Konvitz. I loved how it weaved through dark horror and gave believable characters that will forever live inside my head. After reading Silver Sky and They're Coming to get you Barbara, I wondered if this book would hold up to JD's talents. It held up well and I highly recommend it. I look forward to future projects!
