About the author

James Montgomery Boice was a Reformed theologian, Bible teacher, and pastor of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia from 1968 until his death in 2000. He was also president and cofounder of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, the parent organization of The Bible Study Hour on which Boice was a speaker for more than thirty years.

Boice has some of the best quotes and illustrations of any commentary on Romans.This is a series of sermons, so he often excels at theology and exhortation over exegesis. Recommended along with Martyn Lloyd-Jones sermons to get a sense of the application and theology of Romans applied to our western world today.

I love James Montgomery Boice. I look forward to meeting him in glory and telling him how much his commentary meant to me. It's not at all tedious and he chases a rabbit here and there. But it's worth the time.
