This is a well written book with strong characters in Max and Emerson. The author brings a slow burn romance between childhood friends and gives them a sort of second chance. It's a slow burn with tons of emotions and has all the feels. The scenes are perfectly painted and I enjoyed reading.

This is book two in The Storm Brother's Series and it is Max and Emerson's story. Max and Emerson have history as they had been best friend's and also they had a crush on each other but then Max had to leave after his father died hurting both of them but now year's later and they meet again after Max knocked Emerson out while he was playing a game of hockey and the puck goes the wrong way reuniting them after so many year's apart. Wow I absolutely loved this book and it had great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and I couldn't put it down even though at times it was emotional. Even though this is a standalone book you will definitely want to read the first one as they are so well written and worth reading.

I just loved this story. What a way for Emerson and Max to meet again years later. The chemistry between them was sizzling but what I really enjoyed was the connection that they had and how they just understood each other so well. This story does deal with some emotional triggers but I like how the characters dealt with it. I liked the glimpse of Hunter and Winter and can’t wait until the next book.

This is book 2 in a series but it easily stands alone. The premise behind this series is that its the Storm Brothers who all play hockey and this is Max's story. The brothers had a very bad home life growing up and it ended when their father ended up dead. The events that led to his death have affected each brother differently.

The Storm brothers are Hunter, Liam, Jared, and Max. Jared is Max's twin brother and Liam in the oldest. The Storm brothers were next door neighbors to Emery when they were young and then she moved away. She was best friends with Max and when she came back to town at 16 they were almost something more. That is until he disappears on her.

Now 12 years later fate and coincidences bring Em and Max back together again when at one of his hockey games he injures her. Now Em is a journalist and Max promises her a story as they reconnect and get to know each other.

I read the first book in the series, Hunter, and really loved it. This story was one I was excited about reading but it was much more intense than I was expecting. One big reason is that for 12 years Max has tried to deny that he needed counseling and so he has frozen emotions and feelings off and instead of dealing with his pain he has refused to feel it. My heart broke for him and for Em too who he tries to hold at a distance.

This story has A LOT of angst. It was not a light read. Its a story of a family torn apart and each brother chose a different way of dealing with it. In this story we meet Em who was Max's best friend and 12 years later he has a tough time keeping emotions out of their relationship when they meet again.

I think now Max is my favorite. While hes playing a game of hockey his puck goes wild and hits a woman in the stands. When he goes to check on her its none other then a blast from his past Emerson Rivers. His best friend growing up and his first crush. After his dad dies his brother Liam sends him off to get started on his hockey career. He leaves without saying goodbye to Emmy. She knows everything about him including what happened to his mom. Emmy is now living in Montana. She knows Max plays for the Wild Kings but he has no idea shes there. Shes doing a photo shoot for a story. While shes snapping pictures a puck knocks her out. OMG these two are amazing. I love how they have a strong connection. They are so ment to be.

Book 2 in the Storm Brothers.

This is the second book in the Storm Brothers series but it does work as a standalone. The Storms are four hockey star brothers. Their mother died when they were young and their father was killed when they were teens. They've banded together and built a wall to protect themselves. (Hunter was book 1 and definitely worth a read). This is Max's story. He has more to deal with than the others because of a secret he's kept since he was ten. Only one other person knows the secret and that's the girl that was his best friend. Emmy. Now in a twist of fate, Emmy is back in his life. This is their story and how they overcome the past and find their way to each other. Emmy is the perfect match for Max and she's the only one who can break through his walls, if he'll let her.

Second-Chance, Sports Romance

Max has a heartbreaking past, and he’s letting it get in the way of love. When his high school crush goes to one of his games, he hits her with a puck. It was entirely by accident, but it just might have been the best thing that could have happened to them both. Max did not even know Emmy would be there. He had not seen her in over a decade. He walked out of her life all those years ago and never looked back. Both Emmy and Max needed the healing touch of love, but Max’s past might get in the way. What happened to Max to make him resist love?

This story is a little bit heartbreaking, but it is also sweet, steamy, and heartwarming, all at the same time. The heartbreak comes in when you know about why Max is how he is. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like second-chance, sports romance with a bit of angst.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Emerson "Emmy" River & Max Storm. Emerson is a photographic journalist and she is at the game to take pictures and write a story not become the story. When Max makes a shot that should have been in the net but is defected Emerson finds it as it hits her right in the forehead. Max can't believe the one person who he connected with more than any other person that his family is at his game. Now if only he can get his life together so there second chance meeting can maybe turn into more of a second chance. Can these two find a HEA or will it just be that one night on the ice for them?

Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Love the premise of childhood friends/first crushes who get reunited when pro hockey play Max hits Emerson in the head with a puck during a game.

I started off loving the book, but then just stopped being into it. I’m not entirely sure why, but think it might be because a few of the plot points pulled me into reality and out of the story. Giving it four stars to be fair to the author.

One trigger warning – this book references a tertiary character’s failed suicide attempt. There’s not a huge focus on it, but it’s mentioned just enough to potentially cause sensitivity for anyone who’s lost a friend or loved one to suicide.

Omg. I absolutely loved Max! As a hockey fan, I was quick to grab this book but it was impossible not to fall for Max Storm. Emerson Rivers and Max Storm were best friends as kids until a devastating family tragedy rips them apart. Max and his brothers lost their mom and then their dad leaving the brothers to raise themselves. But only Emerson knows the truth Max has kept from his brothers. Now years later they are reunited when Max literally hits Emerson with a puck to the head. The connection between them is still just as strong but can Max overcome his shame and grief to give them a chance? Awesome read. Definitely anxious to read the next in the series.

When Emerson goes to a hockey game to photograph the action, she's accidentally hit with a puck launched by Max Storm - her first crush and the man who broke her heart. He's there when she wakes and something ignites between them. But they've done this dance before, and neither of them is sure whether they can stay...or walk away again.

This author has a special way of bringing a second-chance romance to life, and I love when her stories work through a family of sexy men. Each one has me waiting impatiently for the next. This one is no different. Her characters are heartbroken, and coming together mends those hearts in the end. She writes some of the best happily-ever-afters.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

This is the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone story. Melissa Belle is a new author for me and I will be reading more by her, I really enjoyed this story. It's fast-paced and quick to read, packed with plenty of drama and emotion. Well-written with incredibly likable characters. Max and Emmy were best friends until he ghosted her, now at one of his hockey games his puck hits her and they reconnect. Wonderful Story.

Things that happen to you as a child, affect how you see your future. Closed off from love, you can't move forward even when you have "your person" standing right in front of you. Moving past your fears and hurt can be done with therapy, guidance and honesty. You must chose to want to move forward.

Haley and Max were best friends when they were kids. Then it moved on to more until he left her. Years later, he is a pro hockey player and she’s a photographer. They meet again until he accidentally hits her with a puck. Will this be their second chance? Great.

Flawed becomes flawless. Max is full of heartache, but it's the moments of humor that makes it shine. Max and Emerson delight in delivering the unexpected. From long lost friends to present day angst and emotional upheaval, Belle keeps readers guessing with this spitfire of a read.
