Summer Swap

Rate this book
Byron and Cheyenne are spending a month with friends from college this summer. They all pitched in to rent a hundred-foot yacht off the coast of Watermelon Cay in the Caribbean.

On their first night, a hilarious escapade of Truth or Dare leads them both to bewildering encounters that ignite a strange arousal. Their love life has been fine. It’s not like it’s been lacking. But there’s something provocative about the hedonistic camaraderie with their friends.

As the next day unfolds and exhibitionism becomes acceptable, the stakes are raised. Both Byron and Cheyenne are presented with opportunities they hate to find so bedazzling.

Exhibitionism is one thing, but when another couple extends an offer, would they be crazy to accept it? Or would they be crazy to turn it down?

Byron and Cheyenne explore the lifestyle through their friends Cody and Carla. What a beautiful descriptive piece of exploratory writing.

KT Morrison is a superb writer. Beautiful scenes, fully descriptive in the exploration of their beginning lifestyle.

Carla and Cody are the perfect friends to introduce them to the pleasure zone.

A five star recommendation.

Opinions below are mine and shouldn't dissuade you from reading this book. I've read other KT Morrison books that have very high reviews that I did not like.

I will be very generic in my comments because I don't want to rob anyone of the experience.

I'm also not a professional critic, I review like a bratty 10-year old sampling ice cream flavors. I either like it, or I don't. In the case of this book, I was looking for tiger stripe and got chocolate flavor

I enjoyed the first 18 chapters a lot, the next 12 were good with an amazing twist at the end of chapter 30 that made me audibly moan, but I did not enjoy the rest of the book. Why didn't that twist get discovered in the previous 12 chapters and why can't KT be as simple in her perversions as I am?

The ending felt a little flat for me because I was hoping for more debauchery. Instead, what KT has provided is a more grounded (cerebral?) and realistic story of how a couple might decide to try swapping. About trust, communication, honesty and the challenges a marriage faces when mistakes are made in the heat of the moment and they try to resolve all the emotions that come with letting your spouse play with others.

The writing is well done as always, a little wordy in parts but that's more KTs style clashing with my preferences than a fatal flaw. Perhaps there will be a sequel planned that continues the vacation and finds more purpose for the other two couples and pays off the building intensity of the final chapter?

Sex And Nudity On A Yacht.

Four married couples on a yacht for a month. All friends. What could go wrong ???

One of the couples are swingers and are on a mission to convert at least one of the other couples to their way of thinking. It starts with everyone prancing around nude and inhibitions begin to fall. Byron and Chey are the chosen ones and before long they make the swap. Chey of course sluts it up big time but Byron is a little intimidated and just has a so so time. The swinging couple, Cody and Carla, are not all that likable characters. Cody is somewhat disrespectful to his friend Byron by taking things too far with Chey (wish KT hadn’t gone there) and Carla is a conniving shallow sexpot.

Uniquely we see the sex scenes not directly but rather as their later related by Byron and Chey to their friends Sully and Scarlet.

In this book it’s just the two couples that have sexy time but there is lots of setup for the second book.

Being KT the writing is flawless of course but there is way too much self talk by Byron. Therefore it’s way too long. The story could have been told just as well with a third less words. Because of that it’s probably just 4.5 stars.

But don’t let that keep you from reading it.

As usual, this is an amazing book by KT Morrison.

KT writes complex stories of people and relationships and emotional sex. The relationships she writes about aren’t always easy, and the outcomes aren’t necessarily what you’d expect.

This book is a very good story. I thought it dragged a little in the middle as Cheyanne described her night with Cody. As I got on in the book, I realized this was an important foundation for the discussions between wives and husbands and lover and wannabe lovers later on.

It’s easy to whip though KT’s books and say “that’s a nice story”. However, if you take the time, and fully reflect on the nuances in the dialogue and descriptions, I think you will enjoy a much richer experience.

This story covers about 3 days of a two week vacation for nine college friends, four couples and a recent divorcée. My take is this is just getting started. My hope — that the full story will run the gambit, including all 9 vacationers. The foundation is there for a wild ride; I’m looking forward to it.

Note: two other long books I’ve read from KT are Learning Lessons: A Losing His Wife Novel and Maggie: The Series. Both were well worth the read. This tale looks like it will be even better.

'Summer Swap' is engaging and jumps right into action within the first chapters. It does read from multiple p.o.v's as the newbie swinging couple deal with the baggage of their newfound swinging lifestyle. Additional partners/couples are thrown into the swing pile just to mix it up, and add more emotional confusion to Cheyenne and Byron. Hopefully the author will come out with a follow book.

A group of college friends are spending a month together on a yacht in the Caribbean. A game of Truth or Dare leads to a little swapping and so much more. Fast-paced read with loads of drama and sizzling scenes. An entertaining and steamy read. I liked it.

This was everything I ever wanted it to be - a wonderful, cereberal exploration of a couple dipping their toes into swiniging - and then it abandons all that in the final throes and becomes indistinguishable from any other book in the genre.

It hasn't put me off reading more from KT Morrison (90% of it is so good) but the disappoontment was visceral. I felt betrayal for myself and the characters.
