Jane Allen becomes a sophomore at Wellington College, but she has to face a severe trial that requires all her courage and character. The result is a triumph for being faithful to an ideal.
as with many of Josephine Chase's (Edith Bancroft being one of her pseudonyms) series, the title character is nice, stands for everything good, fine, and moral. its the antagonist, in this case Maizie Gilbert, that is the more interesting. The Antagonist usually shows more character growth within a volume, than the title character. The title character more or less stays maddeningly the same (ie: Marjorie Dean). On the whole an enjoyable volume, though I would like to know what happens to Maizie Gilbert in the next volume.....
more on gutenberg....a college girl series along the lines of grace harlowe (only fewer books) - and hopefully less mockable than the last couple series i've dipped into. why do these fascinate me so?

turned out to be more similar to grace harlowe than i expected...am moving on to betty wales, marjorie dean, and molly brown for more of the same....
