Loved this story - there wasn't any action packed excitement here, but poor Helena had a LOT of emotions to burn through , and that taught the reader a lot about how the Dom/sub relationships works out.
Helena was struggling through her every day, trying to ban Guest out of her every thought. She holed herself away in Diego's cabin for 4 weeks, trying to figure out how to get herself back. She was afraid to get back into the BDSM world again, and that made her sad because she loved the pain and sex she got out of it..
When TK - the owner of the Resort in Florida who had sent in the troupes to rescue Helena from Guests' auction found out that Helena was just sitting inside the cabin doing nothing for so long, he wanted to help her in so many ways.
TK was in town at Tyger's for a collar ceremony. But mostly he wanted to see Helena again. They bonded a little for the 2 days she was at the Resort after they rescued her. He held her while she cried, he talked to her a little about her feelings. and he wanted more of that.
So when Ty gave TK the directions to the cabin, he started making plans.
When Helena woke up that morning, she couldn't find a reason enough to get out of bed. She was starting to hate the way things were going. She missed her sister and her friends, but was too afraid to get back into the way she use to be.
When TK showed up at the cabin, and offered his hand in helping her get out of her "funk" and learn to be a sub the correct way, she was excited, but still afraid. TK told her to call Ty, since he was a trusted friend of Helena's, and had Ty call a few of his friends who knew TK to make sure he was good guy, someone she could trust.
And she did. When Ty said that he was a well known Dom who owned his own Resort, and was respected by 5 of their mutual friends, Helena felt better, and packed her bags. She was going to Florida to be with her new part-time Dom. She knew this was what she needed, but her nerves were still shattered.
TK knew that it would take time to help Helena out of her shell. She had a very traumatizing experience with Guest, and he knew it would take awhile to get her to trust him. At the airport, he handed her a notebook and told her he wanted her to write her private thoughts in it. He promised it was for her eyes only, and she would be able to express herself however she needed to in order to get through her feelings.
No one had ever cared about her feelings before, other than Harper, her sister. No Dom had ever asked what her mind was feeling instead of her body. She knew she was wild and loved to play hard, but it truely touched her heart when TK asked what she was feeling inside her head.
Once at the resort, they went though the tour, and introductions. Helena was nervous, but she was starting to feel comfortable around TK.
TK had asked her to write about her first BDSM experience. He wanted to learn who trained her, only to realize his hunch was right, and she had no formal training in Dom/sub relationship. So TK brought a few books to her and while he was off working, she read, and wrote down her feelings that he had asked her to write about "What do you want from a Dom?"
TK did what he could to help Helena learn the true meaning of being a submissive and deal with the emotions she had.
This was a really cute story -
My only complaint was I wish that they had more POV's from TK in this story, as well as Oscar and Walked from the last story. The first 3 books were great at reading both sides of their POV's, but the last two, hardly had anything :(
BUT it was a good series anyways - I learned a few things here and there :)
Helena has never had a problem accepting her submissive nature. But her somewhat reckless attitude and willingness to try anything lead her to a dangerous situation with an abusive Dom. Scarred by the experience, Helena retreats into herself, away from her sister, friends, and the lifestyle she once craved.
The moment he met her, TK knew Helena was the perfect sub for him. Yet, TK knows that for them to ever have a successful relationship he has to draw Helena out of her shell and back into the live she loves. TK also knows that to do so, Helena needs to reconnect with the BDSM lifestyle, to learn what it truly means to be a sub and have a Dom who cares for her.
Accompanying TK to his club in Florida, Helena is willing to put her body in TK’s hands for some very delicious lessons. But will she risk opening her mind, her heart, to reeducation as well for the chance at happiness with TK?
Wow! Melinda Barron certainly knows how to make sex sizzle and Sweet Redemption showcases that talent perfectly. It’s a perfect blend of eroticism and romance that left me feeling well-satisfied and eager for more.
Though Ms. Barron is a master at penning sensual love scenes (and Sweet Redemption has them in spades), what drew me to this book is Helena’s character growth and her developing relationship with TK. To Ms. Barron’s credit, the journey Helena takes isn’t easy. I admired her for not only coping with the situation she was forced into, but for recognizing and dealing with the mistakes she herself had made. TK, for his part, is not only an incredibly sexy Dom, but he’s patient, kind, and determined to help Helena. He’s there for her not only physically, but mentally, and that makes him a hero worth sighing over.
Though fifth in the Tygers series, Sweet Redemption can stand on its own. Events that occurred in the previous book, Sweet Awakening, are explained enough for a reader new to the series to follow along. That being said, I’m sure readers new to Ms. Barron’s fantastic Tygers series will be in a rush to read the previous books after reading Helena and TK’s story. A stunning mix of passion, patience, trust, and love, Sweet Redemption enthralls from beginning to end.
Another great glitterkink read! Ms. Barron is now my go to glitterkink writer. Her BDSM scenes are awesome hot. AND she has pretty hot BDSM private clubs. It doesn't hurt that the men are rich. These are my happy feel good books.
In this latest book, it continues where the last one ended. Helena, Harper's missing sister is trying to recover from her traumatic time. I really enjoyed how this book was written. Yes, Helena was a victim, but the book demonstrated how her lack of judgment led her to this situation. It's not that we are "blaming the victim". We are showing how mistakes and lack of good judgment can land someone into a situation that isn't good. I applaud Ms. Barron for this tough message.
In addition, we get to see how flogging and the SM parts of BDSM are not always used as punishment. For a submissive who craves and enjoys pain, impact punishment doesn't work for them. Ms. Barron shows the reader some creative and torturous punishments. I like it! I giggled with glee for some of the edging and anal punishments. Hawt hawt hawt! This is another fast and enjoyable read by Ms. Barron. I recommend it to kinky readers who want a feel good lighter side of kink.
I particularly liked this book, the best of the series I thought. Helena is into pain and gets herself involved with a sadist posing as a Dom. The bulk of the book is about Trust, hers' is destroyed. TK, Miami BDSM club owner falls for her and patiently undertakes bringing her back to a world of trust. He takes her through a "re-deucation" of the BDSM life. Trust being the core element to any successful relationship. It really shows us how necessary trust is for both the Dom and the Sub.
I just finished this book. I liked aspects of the story. Although TK is obviously a caring Dom, he seems harsh. I don't know, maybe that's what a real Dom is supposed to be like. Maybe I need to read the previous Tygers series...
I really enjoyed this one. It's definitely a re-read for me in the future. I felt the 2 characters came together nicely. I also like that the females issues were dealt with, instead of being glossed over.
This was another great book. I am so sad the series is at the end. There were quite a few new people brought into this book. I'm hoping the series continues. I am going to check into that.
