This book from 1973 is a great architectural reference of the planning and reconstruction of Jerusalem - the Old City as well as the surrounding city. The book is easy to read in plain language and not a scholarly or academic study.

The book starts off by showing the history of Jerusalem going back thousands of years and provides many maps and diagrams showing its evolution. The next sections go into analysis of the current area with many different maps, many in color, indicating which areas are to be preserved, reconstructed, or developed. The last sections go over specific projects already completed or proposed that involved reconstruction and preservation of the historic areas of the Old City.

There are many photos, architectural drawings, and maps throughout the book that far outnumber the amount of text. It is not a very long read but the supplemental images are very informative.

This is a great book for someone who is interested in architecture, archeology, or historic preservation. It would be a great addition to your library if you can find a decent copy.
