In his day-to-day life, John Freeman is unremarkable, just an independent businessman flipping houses to earn his living in this world. He’s widowed and still grieving his wife’s passing, but he’s at peace, with a few good friends while he hides his loneliness and grief. But in private, he writes erotica under the pen name Damian Wylder. A young woman friends him online and comes on strong, which makes him shy away from her, but as she grows closer, she tells him her tale, which he views with cynical disbelief. But she tells him she met another indie friend, and the friend partially lends credence to her tale.

His best friend is Connor Little, an attorney with a wife named Jenny and two teen daughters, Violet and Claire. John asks Connor to employ his private investigator to study this young woman, Keri Greene, and learn how much (if any) of her tale is true. Connor agrees to do so. That evening, Connor is brutally attacked until Jenny shoots the assailant to protect her husband.

Many matters come instantly unraveled, but other imponderable matters coalesce. Keri’s tale is, shocking John, the unvarnished truth. But can a middle-aged confirmed widower dare to love again, to put his heart on the line again, for even an undeniable beauty like Keri, so much younger than he? Or should he fold and withdraw?

Mind-blowing!

What can I say ... Lucas X Black never fails to entertain!

This book is ... well ... I'm just gonna say it ... It's like Deadpool breaking the fourth wall!

Here you have an Indie writer (Mr Black), writing about an Indie writer (Damion Wylder) walking around in the story universe that Mr Black created. Meanwhile, Mr Wylder is creating his own story universe within Mr Black's universe. Plus Mr Wylder is walking around bumping into other characters from Mr Black's books!

Yeah ... I know?! Try and keep that all straight y'all!!! Oh and it wouldn't be a LXB book without all of the emotional ups and downs. The humor. And of course the bdsm dynamics.

Mr Black knows how to make you laugh one minute, squirm the next, and rip your heart out crying in the next breath. He is the master of human emotions.
