The threat of war is building. The orc horde has gathered, enemies to the south are on the move and traitors hide in the shadows.
If that was all the Nelson’s had to deal with they would be ready, but Sara, their youngest is stuck in the far north helping a mysterious stranger. Jackson is stumbling around trying to figure out what it means to be engaged to a princess while racing to deal with the orcish forces.
Meanwhile Emily gives birth to their baby, a child of two worlds who heralds a new era for all of Eloria. If that wasn’t enough she finds herself being hunted by fiends intent on keeping things the way they are.
Dave searches for a way to rescue his daughter and forges a compact with an old enemy become an ally. And if their problems hadn’t become big enough, Mira finds herself on the other side of the world, far from any aid her family and friends might give her. Every one needs to step out from the shadow of their parents at some point. Now Mira will get the chance to learn more about magic while facing the fury of a dragon.
Book 2 of the A New Home series from the Amazon Bestselling author of Life in Exile, Sean Oswald. This story continues the tale of the Nelson family in Eloria which began with the Life in Exile series and now continues in the trilogy, A New Home. Mira is the title character for this story but it includes chapters from the perspective of each of the Nelsons.
About the Series: This LitRPG is set in the world of Eloria which features character sheets, stats, spell descriptions, loot drops, and XP but is not in a game. It is set in the same universe as Sean Oswald's bestselling Life in Exile series, but can be read alone as its own story arc.
I love the Nelson family. This along with the, Life in Exile series has been so amazing to read. I love this world and although the Nelsons are rather over powered, I really dig that they have that advantage in the world of Eloria.
I see all the connections here in there that each family member is going through and I cannot wait to see how Oswald brings them all together again. And CAIDEN! Caiden's only a few days old and the little kid's already making a difference in this world. I love it!
This book needs better editing. The pages of stats are just there to pad the page count since they are repeated at the end of the book. I also found the title to be misleading. I thought this was going to be a book centered around the oldest daughter, instead she is less than 50% of the book. Very disappointed with this book.
First time in a while that I couldn’t stop listening and reading a book series. From book one all the way to book 6 it has been enjoyable. I won’t comment on any character because I don’t want to give anything away. If you like a book series that flows from character to character as the main subject, but keeps the story moving along. You are going to really enjoy this series.
One last comment. The first trilogy is called “Life in Exile” then there is another book called “Watcher’s Repose” then another trilogy “A New Home” with 2 books so far. The authors says the New Home series will be another trilogy. It is easy to miss Watcher’s Repose and the story would be diminished without reading it. Hope that helps others with this series.
I like thus book a lot. The Nelson's start to grow as individuals rather than only as a single unit. We also get a good look at the world as a whole!
The adventures, growth, and quests are great! The only thing that really bugs me about this book is a certain villian we meet. His class makes him come back from the dead stronger than when you killed him?
Okay let's go attack a peak teir 7 just so that we can be resurrected stronger than a teir 7!!! Just stupid. If this was the case the world would be ruled by these guys, every time you killed one, they would be resurrected stronger than the one that killed them last time. It's very much a poor plot progression in my opinion and is really irking me. I'll have to just let it go.
In the back of my head I knew that this book would be a fully rounded out story featuring all the Nelson's, each with their own progression through the story ARC. But seriously I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more featuring Sarah. Don't get me wrong, I loved the story and Sean Oswald's writing style and I love how the story is progressing, Isekai style as we get the family's 5 points-of-view. And Wow we get dragons and not just Alsacia either! So grab the audiobook and let Peter Berkrot tell you a story.
Finished another in the series a little too quick. Easy to listen to and follow the stories of all the POVs. Enjoyed their growth and trials! Fun stories and I wanted to know how they were going to pull off the wins. This series and his other one are great for any age! No swearing, gratuitous sex (or any sex) and the slaughter of made up monsters doesn't have you wanting to call PETA. My son read this series and I'll have my youngest one start this one soon.
Fun continuation of the Nelson family's story. I can't wait to see what's next for them. One thing I noticed is that I really appreciate the way the female characters are written. They're actually reasonably fleshed out, with legitimate motivations, realistic (beyond the magic/system bit) strengths, and flaws.
This was a fun story, but there are many spelling errors, especially near the end of the book. Tale instead of tail, missing quotation marks, missing periods, and inconsistent formatting in the stat sheets per each character.
All in all, fun book, but progresses the story quite slowly
Sean Oswald levels up as an author yet again. This series is perfect in so many ways and I can't get enough. The classes, the skills, the spells, the everything is chefs kiss. He just needs to write faster
This book series has been amazing in character development. I love a good long epic series and this is developing as one. Can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the whole family of characters!!!
Just another great book in this series and Sean Oswalds world building of adventure and fun. I am excited to see what is next and where the Nelson family is heading in this world of wonder.
Nice, LitRPG young adult opera, kinda like cotton candy. Just a fun read with a clean story line, that has lots of layers that are slowly being revealed.
