This one makes you realise how powerful team Flare is, and how much they flopped in the game. If this plot was in the gave was so shit.

Best character on this book: Cassius, he’s dope.

Best quote: “Is it a Pokemon” “To be honest, I’m not really sure myself…” Hilarious.

Review: Pokémon Adventures: X•Y, Vol. 3

The Pokémon Adventures manga continues to prove that it’s far more intense and action-packed than its anime counterpart. While the Pokémon X•Y anime had its exciting moments, the manga adaptation raises the stakes with high-risk battles, deeper character struggles, and more ruthless villains.

In this volume, X and his friends find themselves caught in a dangerous conflict with Team Flare, whose schemes go far beyond what the anime ever explored. The intensity of the battles is a major highlight—Pokémon fights feel strategic and brutal, with real consequences. The confrontation with Team Flare agents, who use Pokémon as tools for destruction, further emphasizes how dark and serious the story can get.

Character development is another strong point. X, who started as a reclusive and reluctant hero, continues to slowly open up and take responsibility for his role in stopping Team Flare. Y, Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor all contribute in meaningful ways, making the team’s dynamic feel well-balanced and engaging.

The artwork by Satoshi Yamamoto is stunning, especially in the aerial battles and intense action sequences. The expressions and emotions of both trainers and Pokémon are captured brilliantly, adding depth to each scene.

Overall, Pokémon Adventures: X•Y, Vol. 3 is an action-packed, high-stakes continuation that once again proves why the manga is often regarded as darker and more intense than the anime. If you’re looking for a Pokémon story that doesn’t hold back on danger, strategy, and real tension, this volume delivers.

Volume 3 down. I’m really enjoying the Pokémon Adventures XY series. And this volume contained several really cool chapters. A sky battle that showcased the fun of Vivillion in all of its different patterns! Diantha actually being cool. She has a disguise and purpose in this volume. Which may help her level up in my estimation. I feel like she is one of the least useful and strong seeming champions in the entire Pokémon game series. So it is nice to see her battling and showing her true strength and loyalties instead of just drinking tea in fancy outfits. This chapter is also chock full of Malva! One of my favorite Elite Four members in style and type preference.

Looking forward to volume 4 since the plot really ramps up in this one even without Lysandre’s malevolent presence.

This one was more emotional than the previous ones, we get to see into Y's background a bit. She's really tough and determined.
The others are all working hard to work together, and save Y's mother.
We got to meet Diancie too, she is a really pretty pokemon, I love it.

Solid continuation, but it does seem bad that the gym leaders are being shafted as side characters and that only X from the group can mega evolve.
