j'ai adoré, gros coup de cœur sur Mila et Blake. Mais sérieusement on parle de cette fin ??? il faut vite que le tome 2 sorte en France parce que c'est une torture

Tengo sentimientos encontrados con esta novela, principalmente porque siento que está dirigida a un público más joven, de aproximadamente catorce años. A esa edad, a mí me habría encantado. Además, creo que Estelle escribe muy bien y que la química entre los personajes está bastante lograda (la escena de la piscina me ha gustado mucho, por ejemplo), al igual que la evolución de su relación.
Lo que no ha terminado de gustarme es personal, porque tengo claro que el libro es bueno, considerando cuál es su target audience y la edad de los protagonistas (dieciséis y diecisiete años). No voy a quejarme de la madurez de los personajes, de los problemas que tienen o de sus reflexiones, porque me parece injusto y, realmente, no son errores que haya que recalcar. Simplemente me hacen darme cuenta de que ya no soy la misma adolescente que leía escenas en las que los protagonistas iban a fiestas para jugar a «prueba o verdad» o se les venía el mundo abajo por cosas como no aceptar que sus padres también son humanos.
Lo que sí voy a mencionar son los puntos negativos más objetivos un poco por encima:
El inicio. Las primeras interacciones de Blake y de Mila me han decepcionado un poco. Blake la trata mal sin venir a cuento, y aunque luego se explica (que no es lo mismo a que se justifique), no quita el mal sabor de boca que me ha dejado la primera impresión que nos llevamos de él.
Lacey. Me ha parecido un personaje súper innecesario. Aparece en dos escenas contadas y las dos son para interpretar el papel de «chica que odia a la protagonista simplemente porque comparten el mismo interés amoroso». Las dos veces que ha salido se ha dedicado a: mirar mal a Mila y ponerle la zancadilla.
Y ya estaría. Por lo demás, la novela no está mal. Es cortita, la relación de los protagonistas no es para nada tóxica, la ambientación está muy bien lograda y acaba con un cliffhanger suave.

Becoming Mila is one of those books that has been sat on my TBR list for a while and I wish I had picked it up sooner. It is a delightful, fun, engaging YA novel featuring a young sixteen-year-old girl who has been sent to live with her aunt and grandfather in Nashville from Los Angeles. The reason, her film star father doesn’t trust her not to embarrass him before the release of his next big movie and wants her out of his way.
When Mila arrives in Nashville she learns that not only has she been sent miles away, her aunt has also been given orders not to allow her outside of the family ranch. However, her aunt believes that she needs some freedom and lets Mila leave as long as she notifies her of where she is at all times.
Mila finds it hard being the daughter of a famous movie star and so tries to remain anonymous, but things don’t go according to plan, especially where Mayor’s son Blake is concerned. He knows all too well what it is like living in the shadow of someone famous and so he is glad for a bit of the limelight to be taken away from him, not realising how much it upsets Mila.
The book flowed with ease. The pace was fast and as such, I flew through the book in just two sittings. The characterisation was perfect and I felt like I got to know the characters inside and out. Mila came across as a lot older than she is, possibly due to the fact she has had to grow up quickly being in the public eye constantly.
The one character I adored was Mila’s grandfather. He was so lovely, caring, and sweet. He was always trying to be helpful, much to the annoyance of her aunt. He was also upset that Mila’s father never visits or even calls him anymore. Like he has gotten too big to even be associated with his family.
Becoming Mila is a book I adored from beginning to end. I am so happy to see that is the first in a new trilogy and I can’t wait for the next book to be released. That one won’t sit on my TBR list for so long!

imagine hannah montana the movie but in book form, and you get becoming mila. i loved every single second of it.
mila and blake. they were so cute and i absolutely adore them together. tho this book feels like so much more than just a romance and (again) i loved it. the plot with family secrets and a little mystery, together with the friendships. my heart is so happy.
i’ve missed reading ya romance and it feels so good to finally jump into another one of estelle maskame’s trilogies. she can do no wrong. i’ve been dying to start this series for a while now but decided to wait until the last book was released (only five more days). starting trusting blake rn!

Menuda bazofia más infumable. Pero malo, malo. No hay nada que se salve, ni la escritura, ni los personajes, y los secundarios... por favor que los sacrifiquen y acaben con su agonía.
Es un libro tan introductorio que no pasa nada. Bueno sí, drama adolescente insoportable del que te quieres tirar de los pelos y echarte a gritar en medio de la calle. Nada de lo que pasa es natural, todo es súper forzado, y me ha parecido tan sumamente infantil.
Por favor, podéis leer algo mucho mejor. No tengáis miedo al éxito.

Nie było w tym nic nowego, czego nie czytałam w wielu innych, lepiej napisanych książkach. Język był po prostu infantylny, główni bohaterowie nijacy, a chemia między nimi… Nie było jej. Powielanie wątków już znanych i totalne bazowanie na stereotypach. Jedynymi ciekawymi postaciami byli dorośli. Nie sądzę żebym kontynuowała tę historię, raczej mogę o niej szybko zapomnieć.

Als ich neuen Lesestoff von Estelle Maskame bei Heyne entdeckt habe, wusste ich: das muss ich lesen! Ihre „Dark Love“ Reihe hat eine große Bedeutung für mich und vor allem mein 12-jähriges ich. Ich habe die Reihe damals im Urlaub so durchgesuchtet und wollte danach unbedingt mehr romantische Geschichten lesen! Ich weiß also nicht, ob sich meine Leseliebe ohne diese Reihe so entwickelt hätte wie sie es getan hat. Und ja was soll ich sagen? Auch Mila und Blake haben mein Herz wieder im Sturm erobert. Es war eine total schöne Geschichte mit viel mehr Tiefgang, als man vorher vielleicht denkt. Es geht um Familie(ndrama), die Liebe und wahre Freundschaften. Überzeugt euch gerne selbst! Große Empfehlung, vor allem für den Sommer! Es lässt sich einfach so gut und schön lesen. Ich freue mich schon jetzt auf den zweiten Band!

The author dived straight into the action for the first chapter, bringing drama and a hint of the Hollywood lifestyle that I just couldn’t wait to find out more about.
Mila was a character who I found easy to like. Her small acts of rebellion indicated that she wasn’t entirely happy with the way her life was being managed and I felt certain the move to Tennessee would be good for her character, not to mention highly entertaining for me to read.
The writing style was incredibly emotive. For example, whenever Mila was feeling nervous and unsure of herself in an awkward situation, I felt it too. I found myself holding my breath and wondering if she’d get through it without adding embarrassment to the mix. A good connection to the main character is something I always hope for when I pick up a book and to experience it so early in the storyline told me I had something really special in my hands.
The character growth was impeccable. Watching Mila find herself as she experienced some much-needed freedom, warmed my heart and put a big smile on my face. Then, as events took a shocking turn at the end of the book, I was left wondering how she would handle it all. Waiting for the next book is not going to be easy!
I can’t write this review without mentioning the sparkling relationship between Mila and Blake. It was filled with the most delicious kind of tension, flirtatious moments which made my heart beat faster and even some unexpected complications – pretty much everything I’m looking for in a fictional romance!
Favourite Moments:
• Truth or dare
• An uncomfortable dinner
• Sitting by the pool
• Escaping the movie

I’m left pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Becoming Mila. I wasn’t sure we would get any growth from Mila, she’s an A-listers daughter who appears like she has a stick up her ass, but she slowly learns to trust her new life in Fairview and she really flourishes. I loved the slow burn romance with Blake and I’m annoyed it ended the way it did. I can’t wait for Trusting Blake to come out in November.

Seit "Dark Love" bin ich ein Riesenfan von Estelles Bücher und als ich dieses gesehen habe, musste ich es unbedingt lesen. Es ließ sich auch echt schnell lesen mit seinen 300 Seiten. Ich mochte Blake & Mila echt gerne und ich bin nur so durch die Seiten geflogen. Leider ist es mir hier ein bisschen zu Slow Burn, da ich mir ein bisschen mehr erwartet habe, ging es hier einen Abzug. Das Ende war wieder ein bisschen fies und ich kann es kaum abwarten bald weiterzulesen. Finde es wirklich angenehm und leicht für zwischendurch. Eine richtiges Strandbuch.

Ich habe es so vermisst gehabt ein Buch von Estelle zu lesen, weil ich so ein Fan von ihrem Schreibstil bin! Auch mit diesem Buch hat sie wieder etwas ganz tolles geschrieben! Eine Slow Burn Romance mit einem Hauch von Hannah Montana der Film und einem Ort an dem man sich wohlfühlen kann. Die Entwicklung von Mila ist wirklich grandios und einfach total toll mit zu verfolgen!

Mila und Blake ist ein gefühlvolles Sommerbuch mit einigen Emotionen und thematisiert die Welt einer 16 jährigen Jugendlichen die permanent im Schatten ihres berühmten Vaters steht.
Der Schreibstil des Buches hat mir echt gut gefallen. Man konnte die Geschichte flüssig lesen und ist nur so durch die Seiten geflogen. Die Protagonisten des Buches sind 16 Jahre alt, jedoch fiel dies durch die gewählte Sprache nicht wirklich auf. Das einzige wo es ab und auffiel war durch Mila‘s Reaktionen auf bestimmte Dinge.
Alles in allem hat mir das Buch gut gefallen, es hat mich gut unterhalten und ich habe es direkt in einem Rutsch gelesen.
Es ist eine tolle Sommer Story jedoch folgen noch 2 Bände auf die ich sehr gespannt bin und die ich unbedingt lesen möchte.
Der Cliffhanger des Buches ist in Ordnung aber trotzdem würde man gern weiterlesen.

Esta lectura me llamó mucho desde que la vi, me ha parecido una historia fresquita que transcurre en verano, se lee muy rápido y ha sido ideal entre lecturas mas densas!
🔹️Es una lectura que me ha gustado. Está bien para pasar un buen rato, te adentras rápidamente en la trama, engancha, se lee en 24 horas y entretiene.
🔹️Es una historia bastante juvenil. Alguna cosa me ha podido parecer un poco absurda de primeras pero luego piensas en la edad de los protagonistas y lo entiendes.
🔹️Aunque sea ficción me ha gustado vivir una vida como la de Mila desde dentro, que son cosas que a veces desde fuera ni nos imaginamos.
🔹️La historia para mí se ha centrado más en la vida familiar de Mila y todo lo que los rodea que quizá en la relación amorosa, pero no es algo que me haya desagradado.
🔹️Sobretodo tengo la sensación de que ha sido una historia muy introductoria a la trilogía, lo que me da que aquí queda mucho por pasar y descubrir!
🔹️El final me ha dejado con la boca abierta, no lo he visto venir para nada y me ha dejado con mucha curiosidad de cómo va a continuar esto!!!

"Summer Love" ist der erste Teil um Mila Harding, die Tochter eines berühmten Hollywoodschauspielers. Kurz vor der Premiere seines neuen Films wird Mila in einer etwas unrühmlichen Situation von der Presse fotografiert. Als Strafe schicken sie ihre Eltern auf die Farm ihres Großvaters nach Tennessee.
Die Geschichte beinhaltet so einige Jugendbuch-Klischees, aber ich fand es dennoch sehr unterhaltsam und es ist einfach eine schöne Geschichte für den Sommer. Das Buch handelt vom Sommer, Parties und natürlich der ersten Liebe. Ich fand die Geschichte wie gesagt unterhaltsam erzählt, auch wenn ich der Zielgruppe schon lange entwachsen bin.
Mila ist an sich eine sympathische Protagonistin, ohne die typischen Allüren eines Kindes aus reichem Hause. Sie ist manchmal ein wenig naiv, aber das passte zu ihrem Alter. Auch Blake fand ich sympathisch und die beiden passten gut zusammen.
Das Buch behandelt auch ein paar ernstere Themen, auch wenn ich manches Drama ein bisschen zu konstruiert fand.
Der Schreibstil ist angenehm und flüssig zu lesen. Ich bin auf jeden Fall interessiert wie die Reihe weitergehen wird.

I really enjoyed this! It's been a long time since I've read one of Estelle's YA books (I am a DIMILY girlie for life though) and I picked this up when it saw it was available on Libby.
It was a fun summery romance book that really reminded me of the Hannah Montana movie! Mila and Blake were both great characters, and the surrounding characters were also really fun. I loved the descriptions of Nashville, and omg the ending had me feeling so tense!!
This book definitely helped me feel away from January and put me in such a summery mood

Meine Meinung
Auf die Reihe um Mila und Blake habe ich mich bereits seit einigen Monaten gefreut, nicht zuletzt, weil eine Freundin von mir sehr davon geschwärmt hat. Von der Autorin selbst habe ich noch nichts gelesen und der Klappentext war genau mein Ding. Als das Buch dann kam, war ich zunächst von der Dicke – bzw. Dünne – überrascht und dann vom Inhalt.
Mir war nicht klar, dass Mila erst 16 Jahre alt ist. Der Klappentext klingt in meinen Augen nicht so, auch ist nirgends der Hinweis darauf, dass Mila über die Schulferien dort ist. Der Verlag Heyne steht für mich nicht für Jugendbücher, Luxusleben und glamouröse Partys klingen mehr nach junge Frau als nach Teenager und ehrlich gesagt empfinde ich „frühe Kindheit“ auch fragwürdig. Entsprechend groß war die Ernüchterung und ich hätte vermutlich auch nicht zu dem Buch gegriffen, wenn ich es gewusst hätte. Zwar gibt sich die Autorin Mühe, die Grundidee zu nutzen, dass Mila sich bei einer Party ihres Vaters schlecht benimmt, indem sie auf den roten Teppich kotzt, aber irgendwie war mir alles zu konstruiert, zu wenig durchdacht. So war Mila offenbar noch in der Grundschule in Fairview, das große Familiengeheimnis liegt gleichzeitig vor Milas Geburt und sorgt jetzt erst für Spannungen in der Familie. Auch möchte die Familie, dass Mila auf gar keinen Fall Kontakt zu Blake und seiner Familie hat, dennoch schicken sie Mila gerade in den Ort, der das ganze Konstrukt der Familie aus dem Gleichgewicht bringen kann. Als Mila Anschluss findet, möchte man sie zurückholen, denn der Plan war, sie quasi auf der Farm gefangen zu halten. Das hat mich alles wahnsinnig angenervt, weil es so wirkte, als wären der Autorin unterwegs immer neue Ideen gekommen, egal ob es passt.
Leider konnte mich auch so die Handlung wenig überzeugen. Das Buch hat einen sehr niedrigen Spannungsbogen, plätschert so vor sich hin und ist eher eine süße Teenie-Sommerromanze abseits des Rampenlichts als irgendwas anderes. Mila fand ich furchtbar anstrengend, sie ist eine ungute Mischung aus naiv, zickig und verwöhnt, wenngleich sie sich in Fairview ganz gut entwickelt und beginnt, für sich selbst einzustehen. Die Entwicklungsprozesse bleiben dem Leser aber leider zu sehr verborgen, aber was will man bei 300 Seiten auch erwarten? Das Buch besteht zum Großteil aus netten Erlebnissen (Parkplatzparty, Lagerfeuer, Poolnachmittag etc.), ein bisschen Farmleben und der Geschichte mit Blake, die sich mir nicht erschlossen hat. Er ist anfangs fies zu ihr, dreht sich dann aber um 180 Grad. Erklärungen fehlen, viele Entscheidungen sind wenig nachvollziehbar und mehr als das vermeintliche „beide verstehen, wie es im Rampenlicht ist“ sehe ich bei beiden auch nicht als Grundlage. Die Störfaktoren von außen, insbesondere Blakes Mutter und Milas Vater sowie sein Manager Ruben, beeinflussen aufkeimende Gefühle auch direkt. An vielen Stellen mangelte es der Geschichte einfach an Substanz, an Hintergrundüberlegungen und Greifbarkeit.
Die Charaktere sind allesamt sehr blass und eindimensional, man merkt, dass diese hauptsächlich bestimmte Aufgaben übernehmen sollen. Dennoch hat sich zumindest Milas Opa Popeye und ihre Tante Sheri einen Platz in meinem Herzen gesichert, denn beide fand ich angenehm und herrlich normal. Die restlichen Charaktere waren typische Klischees, wie man sie aus Jugendbüchern und Jugendfilmen kennt. Vielleicht habe ich von der Geschichte einfach zu viel erwartet – abgesehen davon, dass ich an eine erwachsene Socialista dachte, die hier aus ihrem Leben gerissen wird. Die Entwicklungen waren zum Teil vorhersehbar oder zumindest erwartbar. Vor allem das Ende hat mich entsprechend gar nicht überrascht. Das Bedürfnis, weiterzulesen, habe ich bedauerlicherweise nicht. Dafür fehlte mir einfach zu viel.
Mein Fazit
Mila & Blake – Summer Love war für mich ein Schaf im Wolfspelz. Überrascht von einer seichten Young Adult Story, die einfach die Beschreibung eines entspannten Sommers auf dem Land ist, konnte mich das Buch leider nicht so abholen. Liest sich schnell und hat wenig Tiefe, aber leider bleibt auch wenig hängen. Mila und Blake haben für mich nicht harmoniert und ich werde die Reihe nicht weiterlesen.

This book lacked any substance. I knew what I was getting into, a chick lit aimed at 15 year old girls, but this just took the biscuit. A spoiled brat of a protagonist who cannot even fathom the most basic problems in the world. And a love interest with the personality of a wet dressing gown sleeve. Big fat 2 star.

Estelle Maskame is an auto-buy author for me and I’m convinced she can do no wrong when it comes to writing books.
I own all her books and when I saw ‘Becoming Mila’ at the bookshop I knew I had to pick it up. I started reading it the minute I got home, completely disregarding the rest of my TBR. Now, I’m so glad I dove straight into it. ‘Becoming Mila’ is one of those sappy, kinda cliche romantic contemporaries that I crave every summer when the sun comes out and decides to grace us with some heat.
Is it cliche? Yes, of course, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Mila and Blake are cute. Seriously cute.
I can’t wait for the rest of the story!

It's a really cute read, about finding yourself and discovering who you want to be. This time around, however, the subplot stood out more to me. Don't get me wrong, I noticed it every read, but this read it felt more important somehow. Maybe it comes with growing up!

Utterly disappointing.
Mila is the ultimate pick me girl, Blake is a bully and not in a hot way. His mother was way too villainized. The setting was hard to imagine and dull. Nothing of importance happened.
I was expecting a cute summer romance and instead I got a cheesy, childish book about character development that was so distant that the author had to write it out in capital letters.
There was some tension that pulled me in, but it always left me uninterested in the end. I loved one thing and that was her grandpa.
I do not recommend sadly
