I can’t remember specific details, but I do remember LOVING the FMC, Dulce!

She was a spy in an organization of women which immediately caught my interest. She was passionate about her mission of saving women/girls from sex trafficking and was an ultimate boss/badass.

It was confusing if this was a high school or college setting because it wasn’t clarified, but I’m tending to lean more college due to the ages. So Dulce is investigating the Academy where these girls are being taken and meets these men who are…well, hot. I don’t just mean their apparent looks (well maybe those too), no no, they are gobsmacked and awed by the awesome, kickass, and powerful woman who moved into their dorm- that’s what makes them 🥵.

I think with a lot of the HS/college type book with a “spy” FMC it can be cringey or awkward and you’re left disappointed, but that wasn’t the case here, which is what I found surprising. The writing was well-done and Candice Wright had thrown in some humor to make what could have been a terribly dark book only moderately dark 😂. She even did the mystery portion pretty well! It wasn’t too predictable and the suspense was there.

I really liked the relationship developments and dynamics here. I can’t for the life of me remember the names of the MMC’s since I read this several months ago, but I remember one was an ex, one is the ex’s friend, one is a Headmaster, and is there another? Maybe. If so, he wasn’t memorable 😅. Anyways, I actually liked all the guys, they weren’t put off by a strong woman. The scenes between them were SPICY 🌶️ - those I do remember quite clearly lol!

I do recommend this! It’s a relatively quick read- absolutely enjoyable!

I realllllyyyy wanted to read about the Candy Shop and with Dulce's story I got my chance! This book was the smuttiest I've read so far, still I really loved the flow and the unexpected events!
I've read almost all the books that are related to this world created by Candice M. Wright but this time I felt like I was missing something... I don't know why...
My favorite moment of the book was when Reign made an appearance! and the little twist at the end about Dmitri's past... just WOW!

This is really a hard one for me to rate. Overall the book wasn’t my speed, it’s so overtly and overly sexual.

Everything our h does is rooted in sex and I don’t like hypersexual h’s. The beginning where she’s orgasming during sex as the man is dying was horrifying. In the FMC words his face was turning purple and she’s still just riding away and shoving his purple face into her chest. 🤮🤮 I had to put the book down for a few hours after that. The only reason why I went back was because I was happy this author was finally writing another RH. She never really gets better. She’s just a trashy character but she does have a few moments of vulnerability that I really liked.

The men are just okay. There was one I liked. Loved how J/P he was. I wish that there was more romance in this story. My favorite scene was when one of the Hs was comforting the h and giving her a bath. I finished this last night but really that was the only romantic scene in the whole book. Whomp whomp. The other dudes were okay, forgettable and again it’s all just so sex based it’s hard to see them as anything other than ways for the h to get off.

The story was good though. I loved how I didn’t know who was going to be in her harem and who was a bad guy until later in the book. It kept me on my toes and was fun to read that aspect of it!

I was bummed for a book that is so oversexed that we didn’t get a scene of all of her men and her together. That was really weird. Isn’t that the whole point of a RH? To see these guys cooperate and work together to bring their woman pleasure and love? For all the talk of the one dude being bossy and liking control in the bedroom I kept expecting a scene where he was directing the full harem and wanted it so so badly but we never got it.

The epilogues were cute too.

The author says this is a stand-alone but idk. There are references to her MC series and Cookie and I wasn’t sure if we see Dulce and Griff and Hunter in that book. It felt like I needed to read something else first. The stuff with Edward felt like it needed to be read elsewhere. I never finished that series though because of how interconnected things got towards the end. Hoping this series doesn’t end up being the same way. Does no one write true stand-alones anymore?!?

So see?!? Things I liked and things I really didn’t like. I can see how others would love this but for me I needed more in the end and less in the beginning. 😅

Overall: 2.5

Okay after the last 2 misses (IMPO - Twisted Vows and Toxic Whispers were not the best), I'm happy to report this one was damn near close to 5 stars. I didn't love that it was dangerously close to a HS setting (it's described as a prep academy but mostly everyone is 18+ and they never clarify if it's HS or college but then it's also just described as a last chance resort school for rich kids so it's kinda confusing) and I don't read HS romance but Dulce (or Everly as she goes by) rarely spends time in the classroom so I don't mind as much (personal preference). BUT there are a few scenes in a certain headmaster's office that definitely make up for that... ;)

As Dulce infiltrates this academy, she is tasked with finding who is using the campus grounds as a fishing hole to kidnap young women and sell them into sex slavery. Throughout her investigation, she starts to build intimate, emotional connections with those she probably shouldn't be. She also reconnects (quite passionately I may add) with her old flame from her last deep undercover mission. There were some twists and turns but the writing is damn good and you are immediately immersed into this world. Dulce is one badass bitch. And hot damn is this STEAMY. 🥵

One of the only things I didn't vibe with was Dulce's relationship with Cain. He kind of just seemed to be there and I just didn't feel the sparks between them. Griffin and Hunter, obviously. Dmitri, yes please. But Cain's relationship with Dulce seemed the least developed and just lacked chemistry.

I don't always love interconnected series but Candice Wright does them spectacularly. There's almost always a small mention of whoever is going to be the star of her next book embedded into the story and it is done so seamlessly that it just flows. I love getting to see these connections!

You know that tiktok trend where a group of people has water in their mouth and they all just start smacking each other with tortillas?
That’s what this book felt like. So much happening. So much whiplash. So so so so bad.

There's a lot of sex, sometimes with other people, idk. At the beginning, it was hard to figure out who is who or who she was doing it with or attracted. She was just hypersexual, by design. And her character is a little bit OTT. Didn't get to like or dislike the guys because they don't do much except f***. Romance, not so much.

The Candy Shop isn't the kind of store where you buy real candy, but the inhabitants look sweet until you get to know them. When there is a problem to be taken care of and the justice system can't handle it, people call upon the women who work at the fine establishment to deal with the situation.

Dulce is an employee of The Candy Shop. Dulce may mean sweet but that isn't necessarily what she is. Her personality is anything but what her name implies. She uses her assets to the best of her abilities and doesn't blink an eye while doing it. When Dulce is given an assignment to go undercover as a student at an elite academy to find out why the girls are disappearing, she has to remind herself that the headmaster is off limits. Dmitri Aslanov is the quintessential Russian Bratva bad boy with the looks to go with it. He's a weakness for her with all that he entails. Then she meets the entitled twins, Cain and Abel, who think they rule the academy. They exude all the appeal that teenage girls can't turn away from and don't want to. There's just so much testosterone floating in the air that a girl could drown in it and Dulce has to remind herself that her assignment must come first. When things turn south, as they always seem to, Dulce has to call on an old flame from her past who brings his boyfriend into the mix. Griffen and Hunter add a whole new level of heat to Dulce's already flaming panties and make things even more complicated. The assignment keeps getting twisted and turned around on her but she's determined that she will find out where the girls are, how are they being taken and who is behind their disappearances.

This is an amazing look into a set of strong female operators who aren't afraid to get into compromising positions to get the job done. I highly recommend this well written and thrilling story to anyone who loves mystery, mayhem and multiple men in their reading. Dulce doesn't have to choose and why should she??

I loved this new series by Candice. I have read her other series Inheritance and loved it. I looked forward to reading this series and wasn’t disappointed at all. The book is on the longer side. I will warn you that if you don’t like books with a lot of sex than skip this book. Dulce loves peen and gets it as often as she can. She is comfortable in her skin and won’t have her sexuality used against her in any way. Dulce is working undercover trying to find out who is trafficking girls. This is the first case she has worked like this. In fact, this case may be connected to her last one. Dulce is finding this one harder though. She let someone in and now she can’t seem to keep anyone out. She won’t let it stop her from figuring things out though. She just has to keep on her toes. The characters in this book are wonderful. Dulce manages to find several men who will accept her the way she is and understand that she has to do what she has to do. This book has suspense, sex (a lot of it), mystery, danger, and more. I was sucked in the minute I stared reading. Candice, you did a fantastic job with this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Reverse harem? Yes, please! The story was very gripping, a real page-turner, the plot got thicker and thicker by the page. There was so many characters to suspect of a misdeed, so much eye candy and heat to make me hot and bothered that I had trouble putting it down. The set-up for the series is great, it looks like these ‘femme fatales' are going to be funny, strong, capable women.

Dulce uses her body and sex appeal to lure out the baddies and has no trouble torturing and killing these pieces of scum in the most violent of ways. I never know who to trust in suspense stories and I got it spectacularly wrong again. I love her relationships with Hunter, Dmitri, Griff and Cain. They all give her different things and are very hot! VERY HOT!! It’s a great start to a series.

The only minor qualm I had was that although this is book one in The Candy Shop series, I felt like I was missing things I should have known. It seemed like there was information I would have previously read. However, it didn’t stop me from enjoying her life. I can’t wait for book two!

I think Dulce might be one of my fave FMC's ever. when she's sent on an assignment to go undercover as a student at an elite school she finds herself back in an old persona. She needs to find out why the girls are disappearing and where they're going. What she doesn't expect is sexy off limits headmaster with Russian Bratva ties. Twins Cain and Abel, who are less biblical than their names suggest. A boy next door best friend, swoony guidance counsellor oh and an old flame who along with his best friend pop into her mind way more than they should. Add in the mean girls and Dulce may have bitten off more than her heart can chew when the bad guys are finally revealed.

I loved the premise behind this story and the twists and turns, totally didn't expect the reveal towards the end and I loved all the angst. I would have liked a bit more relationship development but I can equally understand why there wasn't a lot. I think the only answer is for Candice to give us another book with this lot in it :D

I've experienced this before when reading books by Candice M. Wright— they start with an engaging fmc and guilty pleasure plot that you can't put down, but when you reach the final 20ish per cent, the plot descends into chaos, and every character is spouting cheesy cliche platitudes of love. I don’t think it’s for me.

So flipping good.

Even having read books by Candice Wright previously, I was woefully under prepared for this book.

There were.... more than a few points where I had to ask myself "what the heck am I reading and why do I like it so much?!"😅

Just kidding. I knew I was messed up so I was only ✨️slightly✨️ alarmed at my level of enjoyment.

I loved Dulce. I loved her fierceness as well as her softness. Her harem is literally chef's kiss on men.

I enjoyed the MM moments far more than I anticipated as it's not usually my thing in reverse harem romance.

I can very proudly say that of the two part plot twist, I was half right😅

Needless to say I'm chomping at the bit waiting for Reese's book and harem🥵

I read this book with friends for an OnLive book Discussion because they said it was a vigilante group of badass women, so I was like yay hot girls being stabby and torture-y. It was more like hot girl getting stabbed by lots of penis. Which is awesome, I love smut, but I like equal amounts of smut and plot, which this book lacked. The book was highly predictable except for whose "meat sword" ( the authors word for penis in one scene) she was riding next. Now if you like why choose with lil plot and high amount of dick this book is for you, I ain't yucking your yum, but it wasn't for me.

🆆🅰🆁🅽🅸🅽🅶: I've have to say before starting to say anything else that please be warned this a different kinda Dark and Twisted book.
There are some scenes that go beyond moral lines and are so twisted that not everyone might be able to take it.
But if you're used to READING ANYTHING DARK, THEN YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS ONE.

🅼🆈 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆:

First off.. Oh my... WHAT A SIZZLING, 𝖲𝖤𝖷𝖸, UTTERLY DARK AND SEDUCTIVE STORY THIS ONE WAS. 🥵🥵🌶️🌶️🔥🔥🔥🔥

The spice rating I would give this one is 20 on 10 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Dulce alonwith Reese, Lollie and Sugar are the Candy girls who bring Justice in their own way and are the most dangerous and yet help the society by righting the wrongs in their own style.

That first scene itself sets the tone of what to expect but especially it shows us in full bright colours what Dulce is all about.

Dulce is such a vastly complicated character. Her mission means everything to her and she's the best at what she does like, getting Intel and offing people who have wronged others, among other things that she doesn't even bat an eye when she crosses moral and other boundaries.

Dulce loves to F**k and loves C**k. So it perfectly pairs up with her mission when she has to get close and personal with people she has to take down.

Now Dulce has been given a new assignment at Willows Academy, where there is already a past that she left behind.

But there's some suspicious activity going on at Willows Academy. Girls going missing and the number one suspicion is on the Headmaster slash Bratva prince, Mr. Aslanov himself.

As Dulce tries to mingle in with the collegiates while continuing her investigation of finding out the people behind the missing girls, she also has to deal with teenage drama and while not showing her assassin skills, put people in their places when they try at every turn to put her down.

It doesn't help that Dulce finds an instant 🔥🌶️ chemistry and a connection to Dmitri Aslanov.
Even though she has to investigate him, yet she's unable to hide her attraction to Dmitri but what was perplexing the most was he wouldn't touch her at all.
Doesn't mean he wouldn't watch while letting other people make her come and see her enjoying herself.
Mr. Aslanov definitely kept me on my toes.

𝘿𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙧𝙞 𝘼𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙫 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙛𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚.

Then there's the blast from the past,Griff whom Dulce had betrayed and left behind after her previous mission was done and his Grumpy best friend, Hunter.
Dulce didn't realise that feelings were still there only this time she gets Griff as a team.
There are some of the hottest scenes with these trio, that time and again melted my kindle. 🥵🔥🌶️🌶️🌶️

Also, the twin brothers Cain and Abe Eveson confused me so much as to what the heck was their deal.
One is grumpy while the other is easy-going but both were such jerks that it just adds to Dulce's troubles.
There are some scenes that will definitely have you melting into a puddle where Cain and Aslanov and Dulce are concerned.
Though, It's not Aslanov doing anything but watching Cain 𝖥𝗎𝖼𝗄 Dulce or at times making him eat her out.

Like I said there's too much 𝖲𝖤𝖷INESS AND FIRE AND LOTS OF SIZZLING SCENES IN THIS ONE. 🥵🔥🔥🔥🔥🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
But they are perfectly molded into the story and not done just for the sake of it or cheesily that makes this ride so much HOTTER AND ON FIRE. 😻😻😻

I'm mesmerized by Dulce not because she's the way she is but especially because Ms. Wright has written her character with such brilliance that even though normally you wouldn't like a girl like her yet Dulce is someone that you will end up liking her.

I feel THIS ONE IS DEFINITELY THE HOTTEST AND SPICIEST BOOK THAT I'VE READ THIS YEAR. 🌶️🔥🔥🥵
Loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️

Or ill it cost Dulce her life?

I wouldn't call this book a dark romance but it does have some dark themes in it. You need to heed the warnings and proceed with caution if you have triggers while reading books.
I swear I don't think I have ever read a character like Dulce and I read a lot.
In this book we get to find out that the Candy shop isn't the kind of place you go to get a sweet treat at all. The girls might look sweet but they are deadly. When the justice system can't handle your problem just call the girls at the Candy shop and it will be taken care of pronto. Dulce is the youngest member of the shop and she is a take no bull do what it takes not matter what it takes to get it done kind of girl. She is a bad butt for sure. When a job comes in and someone has to go undercover as a student at an elite academy she is the perfect person to go to find out why girls are going missing. Dmitri Aslanov is the Russian Bratva bad boy and has all the looks to go with it and is the headmaster of the school. He is smoking hot and a weakness for Dulce. Then she meets the entitled twins Cain and Abel who think they rule the entire academy. These boys are throwing off some serious vibes and Dulce has to remember that she has a job to do. When things start to go south Dulce has to call in some help in the form of Griffen and Hunter and that just adds to the mix of all the men that are driving a girl like Dulce nuts. How do you ever complete an assignment when it keeps getting all twisted up and turned on its side? Well you have to read to find out because if I keep talking your not going to like me spilling a spoiler. I loved reading this book. It is smoking hot and so much fun to read.

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
POV of only FMC written in first person.
HEA with RH with MMF
Can be read as a standalone.

A few things before the review. I didn’t see a TW in the book (not everyone reads the full blurb). I’m not sure if it’s because I had an ARC or not but with how sensitive some people are I wish there was to avoid any conflict. This book deserves so many 5 stars, but with the wrong audience it won’t. I also wish there was a part that said there was MMF. I’m not normally for that, but holy hell hotness. It was done so right that it left me speechless. This book is filled with many different type of sex scenes that may make people feel uncomfortable. I’m generally not phased anymore, but this has me extremely hot and bothered which I’m totally questioning my self 😂

Dulce is so much more than an Assassin or a hitwomen. I felt like she was a super spy, and I loved it. Her task was infiltrated the school and stop whoever was trafficking women. What she wasn’t expecting was feelings to get twisted up with not just one but multiple men. No matter how hard she tried to keep her feelings out of the way, she still broke number one rule of the candy shop.. Don’t fall it love.

Part of me wants to go into detail of this love story, but I wasn’t even sure who would make the final group of men till the last few chapters. I assumed so much, and was extremely wrong. Thats one of the best feeling from a book for me that I don’t feel very often. The only thing I wish was more of a connection with one of the twins.. If there was a scene to truly show the potential of their feelings in less than sexual manor it would have felt complete to me.

I’ll be honest, I was really upset about the final key players. I was not expecting them. I’m angry because I actually liked them 😭 but of course not anymore. I felt like I should have seen it sooner. I’m usually really good about who’s who, but this threw me for a loop. Which is probably why I’m feeling so attached with not just Dulce but her men too.

From the very first sentence I was hooked. I stayed up all night reading, and I literally could not physically put it down. I was addicted to the suspense. I’m obsessed with these characters. I wish it never ended. This is supposed to be book one of a series. So, I’m hoping we get to see more of The Candy Shop women very soon.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

KC Rating: 🍁 🍁 🍁 🍁/🌶 🌶 .5

So, this was one of those books that I’ve liked when I started it, somewhere in the middle I was like: the hell’s going on here? And at the end of the book: well… this was definitely something awesome!

When I learned about the book, I was intrigued, an assassin in modern day, sign me up! Reverse harem (that I forgot about that would be in the book?), sign me up even more! Was the book everything I expected? Yes and no to be honest. But let me explain everything.

Meet Dulce! I effing loved her from page 1 (page 40 and after had me doubts about her), but I still loved her, even though I do believe she should have ended up with a bit different harem at the end. Dulce is an interesting character that is an assassin who specialises in getting information by any means (which usually are getting laid), so do get ready for a LOT of SEX! Let me give you a small quote from the book to explain why I loved her from page 1:

Somedays I love my job. I get to fuck and kill to my heart’s content. Other days, like today, I wonder if I should have run away and joined the circus instead. I am very bendy after all.

Yes that’s our female heroine, and she will be cracking you up many times, especially her banter on dicks and cum. (I’d spoil it, but best not to, because you need to read it yourself!)

Now, let me quickly introduce you to the love interests, wait should I? Ah, you know what I’ll introduce you to my favourite duo, or solo.

Dimitri Aslanov! Damn, the man was good! The whole principal vibe as well as his dominance was the only reason I was reading after Griff and Hunter was introduced to the story. I knew as soon as Dulce described him, that he was the one. And him just bending Dulce over the table? Damn…. That was hot as fuck!!!!!

So, to my least favourites in the book: Griff and Hunter, I get why they were introduced but honestly I don’t think they were needed in the story. But then again, we got such hot MMF scenes from that!!!! That now that I think about it, I don’t really mind them.

Are you ready to explore the dark, twisted world that Candice has put together for us to enjoy? She masterfully delivers the heroine that is comfortable in her sex life and everything that she stands for! So get ready for action, both action in bed (or desks, or cars) and action in terms of killing bad guys and saving the day!

XOXO

Katie

ARC Review by MissDankReads

In case you’re new to Candice’s work, we’ve read about The Candy Shop girls in one of her Collateral Damage books where some of girls assisted with a mission, so I really enjoyed getting a closer look and learning more about the deadly female assassins. Dulce is the first book in the series and aptly named after the FMC who’s assigned an undercover mission where she meets some of her men using an alias at an academy for delinquent rich teens where female students have been disappearing.

I usually get really annoyed with books that don’t offer multiple POV but it was necessary to the story because we don’t know who to trust and we’re figuring out everything with Dulce instead of getting answers from the men’s perspective. It made the reading experience a little nerve wracking because you just don’t know who the bad guy(s) is/are until the last minute. I also loved her inner monologue when it came to some of her more s*xual thoughts. Dulce knows what she wants and she’s not ashamed or afraid to get it, which is why she’s now one of my favorite FMC’s. She’s strong, brave, smart, funny, and just a little bit crazy which made for some excellent steam. The scene in the woods on the hood of the car was *chef’s kiss* 🥵

There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming that thoroughly surprised me and sometimes that can be hard to do when a person reads as much as I do. The epilogue was lovely which fast forwards 2 years in the future and shows how the harem is doing, and also how one of MMC’s is connected with the MC in The Underestimated series which I loved. Candice does a great job weaving her stories together and leaving a trail for her readers to follow to enhance our reading experience but also isn’t necessary to understand/enjoy the story. I definitely recommend Dulce and look forward to meeting Reece next!

I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

There were things that I liked and things that I didn’t. So let’s get into it.

The Good:

💚 The BANTER! The wise-crack quips! The mouth on the FL! Had me in tears at times. 😂 I hardly feel the need to laugh out loud when I read (and not bc I don’t want to it’s just sometimes the material doesn’t hit the way authors hope it will) but there were some solid and repeating moments where the FL’s quick silver tongue had me giggling and I LOVED that.

💚 The total ownership she has of her own body. How she f*cks without shame or some self imposed societal peer pressure weighing her mental down morally. I appreciated her never really bringing herself down too harshly for being a “wh*re” while she was out on her missions. And I respected her for her Fort Knox state of mind when it came down to having the mentality to separate it all. Keep her composure.

While there are some other things I’m sure I can add to the good those two things really stood out to me the most. So here’s what I didn’t like…

The Bad.
(I’m still editing this review as of 06/02/2023!! Pls ignore for now!!)

💔 Her relationship with Cain

💔 I read this as a stand-alone so this is the first book in this series that I’ve picked up and read- that being said, her previous Boa and acquaintance, Griff and Hunter, felt a bit left field for me at times.

💔 Things got stupid and confusing at the end. Abe? Luke? The Uncle? Cassandra? It was all just so, so messy and rushed and awfully done.

💔 The Ending or Epilogue. That was and wasn’t what I was expecting/ hoping for. On one hand, I’m happy for her. On the other, I’m a bit disappointed again. But maybe details were just poorly delved into at the time and maybe in later stand-alone in this same series more information comes out along the lines I was looking for. But this bullet just harkens back to the one above it. The epilogue could have been a bit more for me personally.

a me

Sweet, sweet Dulce.

And by sweet, I mean sweet justice is served by spicy, sassy, and sexy Dulce. I knew as soon was Dulce was mentioned in Candice's other books that I wanted more. My hopes and expectations were high but they were just hopes then. She was a side character. When it was announced that the Candy Shop girls were getting their own show, I was all about it. So excited. And the story did not disappoint.

The story was slow burn but she made up for it in spice. Headmaster and a desk? The MM couple? Twins? It had it all. The spice was hot without the book being just spice.

It also gave you plot. Every time I thought I might have an idea, I was thrown for a loop. Kept me on the edge of my seat just dying to know who the hell was responsible. I thought it was clever spin on the subject matter of the case. The selection, "catalogue", processing, and handling if a wrench was thrown in the gears. Idk. I just really likes this book.

Dulce gives you vulnerability, it gives you demons and trauma, it gives you darkness but also has you laughing. I'm not good with words, that's why I'm a reader, but Candice Wright is. Candice is the reason why I loved shared worlds so much because sometimes the main story is wrapped up nicely but you're not 100% ready to be completely done with them.

I love that we still get to see the others. That I know I'll still get to see my girl Dulce and her men. That even tho this case was wrapped up, there's still more. She always manages to keep the character sets special in their own way yet fit together perfectly.

Defiant, dangerous and deadly Dulce!
*why choose
*contemporary
*fmc POV only
*Academy setting
*morally grey characters
*building harem (4)
*fast burn 🔥 inc MM ⚔️
*standalone (interconnected series)
Don’t be fooled by Dulce being youngest member of the Candy Shop, this gal can torture and unalive with the best of them!
After her previous mission was rendered a bit of a bust Dulce is asked to move onto new pastures but she can’t help but feel she left parts of herself behind 😔 her current mission requires her to give her all for the girls and it’s certainly taxing on her when she isn’t sure out of those around her who she can actually trust!
There’s alphahole Daddy Dimitri the headmaster who reeeeeally likes testing the boundaries, twins students Cain and Abe, one who is happy to play on the shadows and the other who’s just a straight up d!It doesn’t help that the blast from the past comes back into her life with his best friend in tow and make her question everything she’s ever wanted from life! 🔥🌶️🔥 Putting Dulce in a tailspin bit for all the right reasons 🥰
With things getting riskier with her case things between to get angsty and her new found group begin to show their true colours! Although there’s definitely some shocks along the way 😯😯
This is a great mix of plot, character growth and spice! 😀

Dulce: The Candy Shop book 1 by Candice Wright. Dulce's assignment is to go back to an exclusive high school for the troubled rich. Girls are going missing, some have supposedly moved on to a better life. Some of the girls have even committed suicide. Dulce already knows some of the players but she isn't sure who all is involved with the girls. Dulce hates human trafficking more than anything thing else and she has no problem using or doing whatever she has to get the job done. She even has to reach out to people from her past. Sex is a weapon Dulce uses often with multiple partners. She is definitely a sexual creature. As she tries to figure out who is responsible for the girls who are gone, we are treated to sex on steroids. I didn't realize there would be so much sex. This is definitely not like other books I have read by this author. The relationship with her men in the story is primary to the missing girls. When all was said and done I was surprised at who was involved and how the story ended. This was truly an interesting story and the sex was off the charts. I was left wanting more from Dulce and her men. Looking forward to book 2. This story started out one way for me and ended another way. 4 star read for me

Enjoyable story

The first few pages of this one were a shock 😂 I loved it but then the book was actually a lot tamer than I was expecting considering the Candy girls jobs, I was expecting a bit more action and death.

This may be the first time I have ever given a Candice Wright book lower than a five, I think this didn't have the relationship development I expect. In stand alones it's hard but it is something that's generally pulled off really well. I think I suffered with not having as much back story as I would have liked on Dulce' previous case that brought Griffen and Hunter into her life.

This book did keep me guessing as to who the bad guy was right up to that last moment, honestly I'm think I may need a re-read to see if I missed any hints.

Dmitri was definitely everything you needed from an older leading guy and I fell for him in an instant. Dulce I think was a bit harder for me as she was just so young.

Overall a good action mystery RH stand alone, I'm hoping we see more of the other Candy girls in each others books, I felt Dulce was very much alone and I think it would have been nice to have some more friendship / camaraderie seen from the group and to start getting to know the girls a bit better so we feel more for them when their books come.

All of it was utterly delicious

Oh my gravy! Dulce was everything I wanted in a Candice Wright novel and then more. With whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles, and a cherry on top.

I have been an avid follower of Candice since I was first introduced to Luna in Queen of Carnage. Her books are do freakin easy to read. You start with the first chapter and the next thing you know BAM! It's 5:57am and you haven't been to sleep, but you did finish Dulce in one go. Or maybe that's just me? I don't think so. This book was unputdownable (I've just invented that word, so it's a real one!) The characters have depth and humor and the story just flows. The action is seamless while the drama is intense. And you don't want to get me started on the twist. I was gobsmacked.

I will say that Dulce was a bit darker than I'm used to from this author, but that just adds to its appeal for me. Unfortunately, there is not a content warning at the beginning, so you should be aware that there's some violence, dub-con, and references to trafficking involved with the story. It was a bit spicier than I anticipated, but again, that's just a check in the "yes, please" box.

And all of it was utterly delicious.

I liked how badass the FMC was, but I wasn’t a fan of how “magical” her pussy seemed to be—every male on campus was drawn to her like flies to honey. Until the end, I had no clue who the final MMC or MMCs were supposed to be, or who I was meant to invest in emotionally. The FMC kept jumping from one bed to another, and I couldn’t tell who was a temporary mark and who was the real deal.

I enjoyed it when Griff and Hunter showed up, but their entrance felt so random - like they and the FMC had a whole history we missed because it all happened before the events of the book. It was nice they knew each other, but I wish it hadn’t been framed as a second-chance romance. I would’ve preferred to see them fall for each other now.

Then there were Cain and Dimitri. I didn’t get Cain at all - he and the FMC had sex twice without much else, and suddenly they were in love? Dimitri was more interesting but felt like a wild horse - I couldn’t get a read on him. The resolution of the drama felt too neat, clearing both Cain and Dimitri of any involvement in it. I also wish we got more scenes with all five of them together, not just the epilogue. Where were the juicy group scenes?

I’ll try the next book even though I have no idea what kind of character Reese will be as an FMC.

Dulce is one baddie FMC. She will kill you where you stand. No ifs, ands or buts. It has been a hot minute since I've read Candice Wright. I kind of felt like I was missing a piece of the back story here but I was able to follow along somewhat effortlessly. Dulce is an assassin for hire. She's been tasked to infiltrate an academy, get to know the school, the headmaster, etc. when the school has too many issues floating around with missing teenage girls and rumors of the school being part of a sex trafficking ring. With the help of her ex boyfriend Griffin and his boyfriend Hunter--Yes, we got some MM and some MMF action up in here!-they were able to gather information, flesh out the suspects and get some super good leads!

This book was action packed and chock full of steam. This got the twisty turny bits and I was like WTF just happened! I wasn't even sure who was ending up the harem, and I was like Umm I don't know if I like that. But it kept me guessing and Candice Wright definitely did me dirty with the sudden turn of events. Absolutely recommend. And I'm looking forward to Reese's story.

More please!

Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶/5
Darkness Level: 💀💀/5

⚠️: murder, torture, trafficking, dub-con

It's been awhile since I've picked up one of Candice's books - and now I remember why I like them so much!

Dulce was a hot, fun, interesting read that kept me hooked throughout. I loved the female killers plot, and Dulce was a kicka$$ heroine with a heart of gold beneath the tough exterior. I could hardly put it down!

But...I did feel that the guys were almost an afterthought. 2 of them she had known previously, 2 come into the picture. Reading this felt like I was missing something - as if it's maybe a spin-off. Parts of it felt like the reader should already know things. Of course, it may be the case...I just saw it was book 1 and went from there.

Dimitri...oh good lord. I licked him, ladies - he's mine! It's just too bad we didn't see more of him. And where was the group scene? I was so looking forward to that.

Basically, my only complaint was wanting more! So don't let that put you off...not all books have that power. I'll certainly be reading the rest of the series.

This is the first book in the candy shop series. If you have read some of Candice's MC books you know how deadly and down right awesome these girls are.

This book features around the youngest Dulce as she goes undercover. We get to know more about her as she trys to figure out her assignment. She is housed with plenty of 🔥 men. And then some extras from a pas that won't let go. Hunter, Dmitri, Griff and Cain are all delicious and I'm obsessed with them for sure...just like Dulce.

However I was a bit disappointed with the introduction of the men from her past as it made the story feel disjointed for me. I felt like I was missing a chunk of the story, which made it hard to connect. I loved the mystery that she had to slove. Candice definitely threw us for a list with this mystery. I will say the Dulce was not who I thought she would be based on the encounters in the other books....but I'm not disappointed.

I will definitely be checking out book 2 to learn more about these girls.
