Talie's Story is a short story takes place after the fifteenth book, Barbarian's Tease, of the Ice Planet Barbarians series. It is part of the Bedtime Stories short story series, which were published on Ruby Dixon's facebook page. It features Talie, Vekka, and Georgie.
Ruby Dixon is an author of Science Fiction Romance. She likes fated mates, baby-filled epilogues, and cinnamon roll heroes. She also likes to write biographies of herself in the third person, because it feels more important that way.
Ruby also loves coffee and dirty books and will probably be a cat lady at some point. :)
Gahhh. Be still my heart 🥹 Talie is sooo cute and Georgia is such a good mom 😭.
Vektal isn’t home right now because he’s with the hunters trying to figure out what to do with the ship full of new people, and Georgie is putting her girls down for bed when Talie asks her to tell her a story 🥹
And it’s a cute one about princesses and being a leader ❤️
What a good short story! Georgie is telling a story to her two daughters and they are all missing Vektal like crazy. Little Talie is so smart and would make such a good chief one day… but hopefully not for a very very long time.
This is a cute, short story part of the bedtime on IPB series. Like all the stories, there’s not much to criticize because it’s like 3 pages. However, this one bothered me a bit because I feel like Ruby keeps writing Georgie in to stories, to somehow make her more digestible to the people who don’t like her. Specifically she wants to write about leadership, in a way to justify Georgie’s choices.
Two problems arise in my eyes: Georgie co-leads with Vektal, so she makes decisions which are at time unpopular. She gets shit on but Vektal doesn’t? I call sexism and double standards. Why people are complaining about her being too “bossy” or “mean” is beyond me. Secondly, I felt like this story was a way to reverse the importance of Georgie’s leadership role to placate her haters. Her mentioning that it’s really Vektal’s decision and not hers what happens to the new humans is just weird. So yeah, really cute story but I like my Georgie fierce, brave & leading, this watered down version isn’t my cup of tea.

This one was sweet and cute. Vektal and Georgie are not my favorite character in this series (or universe), but their girls are very endearing in this short slice of bedtime story. I enjoyed Talie jumping in to help tell the story, and seeing her character develop even in this very short story.
I think the ages are off though. Rhuk is the oldest if the children but he’s not that much older, only a few months. So I would think since this story is so many books later than his, that Talie would be older now too. I would love a really good timeline with a breakdown of books and births and big events on the planet.
WoW, that was… deep!! WoW!! ❤️ Was nice to have a little peek at Georgie, Talie, & Vekka while Vektal is away helping the newbies. Talie is a very smart cookie 😁
THIS WAS SO DAMN CUTE. I loved the story Gorgie told her daughters. It was so great to see small Talía think like a chief and being smart. I think she takes a lot from her father, which is really amazing.
3.5/5 This was a really cute story. I love how we got to see more of Talie’s personality. With so many kits, it’s hard to really narrow in on a personality with just a few interactions. But I love that Talie is taking after Vektal.
This is my favorite of these "bedtime stories." Talie is so sweet with her way of thinking. You can tell that she cares so much about the tribe and wants what's best for them. She’ll make a great leader some day!
In this one the six year old hijacks the story with the wisdom of a forty year old. Super unrealistic, and made me think of those memes of people getting caught out saying their kids have these big inspirational moments of profound wisdom. Cute though.
It's an adorable story about Talie, Vekka, and Georgie while Vektal is away, leading the Icehome tribe. I love the bedtime story about the two sisters. Plus we can see the soon-to-be leader. I love how clever Talie is and we can see Vektal in him. It's so cute to get a glimpse of their lives ❤
