Bestselling Disaster & Apocalypse Author DJ Cooper

She lives in Biddeford, Maine, with a demon disguised as a cat! She loves to read and write post-apocalyptic and disaster fiction. It all started with the Dystopia series of books she released in late 2014, and she has been going strong since.

She also writes nonfiction prepper books and articles for her preparedness teams at Thrive Self-Reliance Initiative. That first title created a strong desire to learn more, leading her back to school, hoping to gain more perspective on the craft and the industry. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Marketing. She spends her days now studying for her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a concentration in teaching.

DJ’s favorite apocalyptic reads are The Road, Alas Babylon, One Second After, & the dystopian series Hunger Games. As an Apocalypse author, she hopes to find herself among these favorites for readers of all ages.

So, I started this book and read it with out putting it down. This genre of apocalyptic, end-of-the-world type of story line is my favorite. I was not disappointed. Each story had its own unique version of terrifying and almost believable threads of the world ending. By the time you finish the first book about electromagnetic waves and people turning into brainless killing machines you won't want to stop. Each story was intricate and detailed with great characters and world building. Each story draws you in and it gets better and better. I would recommend this to anyone. It will not disappoint.

Some great stories

Some were great stories, some were ok stories, and the others just weren't for me. I enjoyed the compilation and so many variations of dystopian times. A definite recommend if you're not sure which authors you like or if you're not sure which types of dystopian worlds you like.

Apocalypse At Its Best

As a dystopian reader I was super excited when Heather Carson announced this anthology. I mostly enjoyed all the stories included here. Shoutout for Heather, I really loved getting to read Joe's journey! Others I felt deserved five stars are Courtney Konstantin and Millie Copper.

Overall I really enjoyed all the stories included and would recommend it.

First story was lame

The first story.. Nope! Didn't make sense. What cop is going to wait? What cop is going to allow a murder happen right in front of them, what cop would put off going after the murderer, what cop wouldnt stop a murderer from killing more people.. immediately? What cop, knowing what they were up against, be so intentionally passive and meek?

Some excellent stories

This book has introduced me to new authors. There are some excellent stories, only one that I had to skim over as I just didn't like the writing style. So well worth a read

apocalyptic variety

With no two stories identical, the reader is given a great variety of ways to kill humanity. Each story is a great reading length and provides plenty of battles, blood and death. Good bedtime reading!

Interesting

Some of the stories were well written and engrossing and a couple were just not my cup of tea. I did enjoy that I could read one or two and put the book down and not feel like I just had to get back to it. I also enjoyed reading some new authors.
