In this second chance Regency Romance by Annabelle Anders, an independent headmistress fights to keep her all-girls school open even as the only man she’s ever loved—and lost—barges back into her life.
As the daughter of a cruel marquess, Augusta Primm has fought tooth and nail to establish her independence. But now, with someone vandalizing her precious institution, and scandals turning up left and right, the school’s reputation hangs by a thread. Slowly but surely, she’s losing the fight.
Rowan Stewart, older brother to the Duke of Bedwell, is a bastard by birth, and an architect by trade. Despite his brother’s push for him to enter society, Rowan will never be subject to society’s prejudice again. Once was enough.
Until a once in a lifetime project comes along—the opportunity to rebuild the majestic Longbow Castle. It doesn’t matter that the castle is just a few miles from the school owned and run by the woman who jilted him years ago. He’s left that life behind and he’d never allow Augusta Primm to hurt him again.
But when she faces losing the dream she chose over him, Rowan must make a choice. Help the woman he once loved or abandon her forever.
The choice should be simple but with Augusta Primm, it’ll always be complicated.
Don’t miss out on any of these big-hearted stories featuring teachers from Miss Primm’s Secret School for Budding Bluestockings—an academy where English Misses go to learn how to fit into society, but instead learn how to make their place in the world. Schooled by the Bastard is the final book in this Steamy, Regency Romance Series. 1) Trapped with the Duke 2) Educated by the Earl 3) Pretending to be the Debutante 4) Rescued by the Rake 5) Advising the Viscount 6) Make-believe with the Marquess and 7) Miss Primm’s story… Schooled by the Bastard
Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.
After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything in 2008; our business, our home, even our car.
At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender (Insert irony). Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.
And then the energy market dropped off.
And then my dog died.
I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination. After publishing over twenty novels now, with one having been nominated for RWA’s Distinguished ™RITA Award in 2019, I am happy to tell you that I have finally found my place in life.
Thank you so much for being a part of my journey!

I know I have a lot of favorite authors but I've read over 2500 books in less than 8 years and hundreds and hundreds of different authors so I feel having only 31 favorite authors isn't all that much and says quite a lot about those favorites. With that being said, Annabelle Anders is one of those favorites. :) I have read all her books and this is my 34th book by her and several of her anthologies since 2018. I just love her stories.
I have been loving this series. I couldn't wait for this book to come out and it did not disappoint. Rowan and Augusta were such a great read. I loved their story. I loved their personalities. I just loved this book. Love conquers all!
I definitely recommend this book and all her books.
How many of you have been waiting for Miss Primms book. Well wait no longer, and by the way it’s excellent!
Augusta Primm has had an emotional but positive life. Torn from her family and the man she loved, betrayed, lost and hurt. She now runs her own school shaping and developing young ladies.
Rowan Stewart is the illegitimate son of a Duke, part Barbadian and an unwelcome member of the aristocracy. He falls for Augusta quickly, but their plans lead them both to ruin and leaves their love in tatters. Will the future heal the divisions between them?
Annabelle has a plaster for every sore in her book worlds, she’s produced a brilliant book that will have your head spinning with whodunnit moments, and in emotional turmoil getting these two characters back together. I loved it!
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
What an emotional yet satisfying way to a series. I'm sad to see it end!! Tears!!
I lost sleep due to this story but it was so worth it for such an emotional second chance romance.
They both were manipulated by her father and they both lost years of what could have been happiness and so much more.
But despite after all those lost years, they find each other and they not only rekindle their love but it burns even brighter than before no matter how hard they try to fight it.
Miss Primm and Rowan Stewart prove that love weather the test of the time and the tides no matter how much is thrown their way.
I loved this story from beginning to end.
I loved seeing all the previous characters come together and help Miss Primm in her time of need.
I look forward to seeing what else Annabelle has in store next.
I received this a gift from the author in exchange for an honest review and these are purely my thoughts and no one else's.
Being born the daughter of a marquess should’ve meant a life of ease for Augusta Primm, but instead she’s had to fight doggedly to establish even a modicum of independence. Now her beloved girls’ school and everything she’s fought for, including its hard-won, prestigious reputation is at stake thanks to a mysterious vandal.
Rowan Stewart, the older, illegitimate brother of the Duke of Bedwell, has become a well-known architect. His brother would like him to enter society, but Rowan is unwilling to subject himself to their hypocritical prejudices again.
But when the opportunity to rebuild the once-beautiful Longbow Castle arises, Rowan cannot pass it up, even if his employer is a lord. It doesn’t help matters that the castle is quite near to the school run by the woman who jilted him seventeen years ago, but Rowan is determined not to let Augusta hurt him again.
When Augusta stands to lose the school she chose over him, Rowan is faced with the choice of leaving her for good or stepping up to help the woman he once loved with his whole heart.
I’m not usually a fan of second chance stories because I can’t keep myself from fixating on the wasted time the couple has spent apart and being sad about it. However, this story handled the trope a bit differently and in a way that really worked. Rather than fixate on all they’d been through and suffered, Rowan and Augusta chose to look toward the future. They had new problems to face with the threat to Augusta’s school and this became an opportunity for Augusta to learn to rely on someone else besides herself and for Rowan to be there for her. This time around they were both more mature and more determined to resist any outside manipulations that would’ve kept them apart. I loved seeing them work together to save the school and reestablish their relationship. I really appreciated seeing the real Augusta beneath the rigid façade she’s shown for the rest of the series, and I think this book was a great way to wrap things up.
As the daughter of a cruel marquis, Augusta Primm has fought tooth and nail to establish her independence. But when she faces losing the dream she chose over him, Rowan must make a choice. Help the woman he once loved or abandon her forever. The seventh & final book in this wonderful series & Finally Miss Primm gets her story & what a lovely story it was. Rowan & Augusta were sweethearts when they were teenagers but were torn apart & for seventeen years each thought the other had deserted them. They meet again when Rowan agrees to work on Augusta’s brother Piers castle. Part of the agreement is that Piers insists Rowan looks at the damage a vandal has caused at the school. This book takes place over the same timeframe as some of the earlier books & I loved how the author now showed Augusta’s point of view. This was one roller coaster of an emotional read, I was taken on a gamut of emotions from laughing to crying. My heart bled for Rowan & Augusta as more of their backstory was revealed but I rejoiced for them to have found each other again only for secrets to be revealed & then the villain attacking Augusta’s beloved school is uncovered & their lives are in danger. An engrossing, enthralling read, which rounded off the series beautifully My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I have been anxiously awaiting the conclusion of the Miss Primm series, and I was not disappointed. I hardly ever cry at books, but Annabelle Anders just wrecked me in the best possible way. This second chance romance swept me away. The tenderness and depth of feeling between Rowan and Miss Primm was palpable, as was the tension. In this series finale, we get the tying up of loose ends both for the couple and for the overarching mystery that we’ve followed throughout the series. This book would work as a standalone, but the series is best read in order. I received a free copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.

Will they clear the past to forge a new future …
This book is the perfect conclusion to this series, as it spans the whole series period, making us revisit events we already read about but this time from Augusta’s point of view but it also go back and forth between Augusta and Rowan’s present and past. This whole book packs a lot, from emotional pain, betrayal, threats and loss, why while it can be read and appreciated alone, I would recommend to understand the history of this school and the many protagonists to read the series in order. Now this said, be prepared, have a box full of tissues at the ready, you will need them.
Rowan and Augusta a long time ago have been more than lovers, in the throw of first love they made promises but events and evil plotted schemes tore them apart. Now close to two decades later, they meet again, but the wounds of the past never really healed, as they paid for loving when it was ill-seen, both having come to believe the other just gave up on them.
So as new perils threaten Augusta’s hard built livelihood, can they let the past go as what was once a young love could be more now than a bittersweet memory if they open themselves again to the risk of harm but also bliss.
A beautiful heart-wreaking tale of second chance. 5 stars

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Tropes: Instant Attraction, Illegitimate Hero, Spinster, Self-Made Hero, Working Class Peer Heroine, Forbidden Romance, Second Chance, Secrets, Intrigue.
Oooooooh this is the angst fest that I didn’t know that I needed!!! Y’all, I read this book in one sitting coz it gripped me and I HAD to KNOOOOOOOW about Augusta and Rowan’s road to HEA. Totally sucker punched me in the feels coz I hurt for these two and all the things that they went through… and that they were given this second chance gift at love…. Yup, here I am ugly crying af thinking about it!! I am so in love with this story it’s cray!!
This was the perfect end to a wonderful series. If Annabelle Anders wasn’t on my keeper shelf already… this book would have crazy glued her there. Honestly, she sent me on an emotional roller coaster with this one… young love… lost love found… forgiveness…. redemption…. Intrigue!! She pressed all my love buttons!! Standing ovation all around!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.
My Star Rating: 5 stars Ugly cried AF. Major book hangover. Characters and storyline were freaken amazeballs. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will definitely be reading this story over and over and over again!!
I hate to see this series end. I couldn't wait for Ms. Primm's story because she was such a part in the other 6 stories of the series. You knew her story was going to be exceptional and it certainly was.
The H/h knew each other 17 years ago. Factors that were out of their hands kept them apart all this time. Each has hurt and plenty of blame towards the other but is it warranted?
Story has villains that I didn't suspect, suspense, a big twist, intrigue, romance and steam. Heat level 5 out of 5 but filled with love and passion. Lord's name used in vain once I believe.
Romance builds slowly as the truth of what happened 17 years ago comes to light. Oh, how my heart ached for both of them. Crossover characters from previous stories are in this which was like icing on the cake. It can be a stand alone story, but you will want to read the series because it builds to this climactic ending.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, rough road to HEA, romantic and steam. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you some extra tidbits to decide to read this series and story.
I received ARC, and all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)
I AM SO SAD TO SEE THIS SERIES GO… BUT WHAT A WAY TO END IT!!! Schooled by the Bastard by Annabelle Anders is the 7th and final book in the series Miss Primm's Secret School for Budding Bluestockings and though in a series this can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend all the books to know each story and how they relate to Schooled By The Bastard. This second chance at love made me laugh, cry and just really get mad. So many emotions on this rollercoaster ride and I enjoyed each twist and turn. Annabelle is one of the best authors of today and I am looking forward to a new series from her in fact… I can’t wait. This book is easy to read, emotional, had the real feel of the regency era, original, so very well written, vivid description and just a wonderful read. I could not put it down. This story has a head mistress for a school for young ladies and owns that schools, years of hard work, a bastard to a duke, an evil father that is a marquess, being torn apart when in love, the school being sabotaged, being hired to reconstruct a brother’s castle not far from the school, misunderstandings, a contract for freedom, secrets, wanting to still protect, heartbreak, security guards, wanting to be independent but needing help and falling in love all over again. I am so highly recommending you read this book… it is FANTASTIC!!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
WOW!!! This is the perfect ending for this series. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. I love a good long lost love story and when the separation is caused by a cruel and evil parent it's even better. As a young girl, Miss Primm (Augusta) fell in love with the bastard son of a Duke. Their plans to run away together were crushed when Augusta was tied up and shoved into a carriage and taken north to live (almost as a prisoner) with her aunt. Her lover, Rowan, was left thinking she had changed her mind and deserted him. Seventeen years later he is a famous back builder and has been hired by her brother to repair his estate. Her brother, Piers, also wants Rowan to help his sister with some vandalism at her school. Once there, the old feelings came back but also the old resentment. If you've read the other books in the series, you will recognize the characters and stories from the previous books but you don't have to have read them to enjoy this story. Be prepared for many tears throughout the book. These 2 people have been through a lot to get to their successes but their personal lives have been empty. They can't change the past but they can create a new future. When the Happily Ever After comes, it is better than anyone could expect and well worth the wait. This is a cherry on top of the entire series. I received an advanced copy of this book.
A satisfying conclusion to the series. Your questions will be answered, surprises are in store, and best of all, we get to know Miss Primm better.
Miss Augusta Primm is the head of the school for young ladies that has featured throughout the series. As her teachers have been swept away by love and scandal in previous books, Miss Primm has been facing a mysterious threat to her school. Someone has been sabotaging the school.
Starchy Miss Primm turns out to have a past, and we learn about it as she tries to figure out a future for her school in the face of staff shortages and attacks.
I won’t give away the plot, because you deserve to experience it for yourself. This is one of my more favorite Annabelle Anders books, and I have enjoyed this series in particular quite a lot. Miss Primm gets her HEA, long overdue, in an emotional story that I enjoyed from start to finish.
As usual with Anders’ books, this is not clean, so don’t read if you prefer clean romance. If you’re ok with the hanky panky, start at the beginning of the series, because all of the books and characters are well written. I recommend the entire series highly. You can probably read this as a stand-alone, but you’ll get so much more out of it if you know the backstories of the characters that play out in the earlier books.
An epic ending for a truly larger than life character! Miss. Primm has been such a huge part of every story in this series. It is only right that her story exceeds all others. Rowan Stewart was a character that stood out to me even in his initial scenes at the beginning of the series and I could not wait to se his story with Augusta Primm. Their tale was a complete rollercoaster of emotion. A gripping tale keeping you on the edge of your seat. Everytime you settled a new detail emerged, a new twist in the plot to keep you guessing. Having read every story in this series, I enjoyed the trips down memory lane as this story occurs throughout the timeline of the entire series. Allowing you to reconnect to each couple as Miss.Primm dealt with her choices that placed each lady in her situation. Miss. Augusta Primm is truly one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read. Her and Rowan were meant to be together it just took fate a great deal of time to place them together where they belonged. This story has everything action, mystery, romance and passion. I closed the last chapter with a glow of love finally coming together.
Augusta Primm has been the driven owner and head mistress of the school for young women since it’s inception. Through the previous six books in the series we have seen her steel resolve, her fierce fortitude and her complete dedication to her students and teachers. Slowly her teachers have found their matches each with just a bit of scandal. I’ve wondered about her story. With a threat to the school along comes her long lost love, Rowan Stewart. He is a dukes bastard son. His mother from Barbados, he was brought to England following her death.
Augusta and Rowan had suffered , Augusta at the hand of her father and Rowan at the hands of society. Both had emerged from heartbreak to success.
The danger to Miss Primm’s school presented a mystery. Much of the destruction must have been done from the inside. I was surprised by the who-done-it. The HEA is perfect on every level.
I’ve read each book in the series. Annabelle Anders is a fantastic storyteller. Each of these books is better than the last. I’m sad this is the final book.
Schooled by the Bastard is book seven in Miss Primm’s Secret School for Budding Bluestockings. I can honestly say that I have read each one of the books in this series, and this book can truly be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed getting to read Augusta Primm’s story. She’s been a solid character in each of the previous books and I felt like she came alive in this one. There are quite a few steamy scenes, almost to the story’s detriment. I don’t mind a few here and there, but when it starts to feel like I’m just moving through one “hot” scene after another, those intimacies can feel shallow and superficial to the plot. A long standing mystery is resolved in this book and answers the question: who is the villain that is sabotaging the school? Once that was answered I really struggled with the motivation of the villain. I didn’t really feel like this entity was believable. Other than those criticisms, I did enjoy this second chance romance.
Miss Primm’s own story is the pièce de résistance of the whole Miss Primm’s Secret School for Budding Bluestockings series! I enjoyed reading about her journey. Having the cameos by past teachers and their significant others was a bonus. Reading Miss Primm’s struggles puts a perspective on the other books in the series.
Augusta and Rowan’s love story is beautiful and complicated by society’s expectations and also prejudice on the part of others. Schooled by the Bastard is full of complex characters, emotions, and relationships which sometimes had me talking to the characters and giving them a little lecture when needed.
I’m not usually one who gets teary eyed when I’m reading a book, but the last 16% of the book had me on pins and needles. I’ll admit I was a tad bit emotional. The resolution to their story was perfection, and the epilogue was the cherry on top!
I received an ARC from the author. The opinions expressed above are my own.
I had been waiting for Augusta's story since the beginning of the series.
I knew her tale would be interesting and intriguing as we have only seen glimpses of who Augusta really is beneath the aloof and controlled persona of Miss Primm.
I was not disappointed, it was worth the wait for this book. I couldn't put it down. Augusta's was such a surprise and delight. Who would have known Miss Primm had such a scandalous past!
I loved everything about it. Augusta finally got her second chance with Rowan. The tenderness and deep love they have for one another was palpable and although they once lost their chance at love, they never lost the love they had for one another.
A truly wonderful story of second chances, secrets, scandal, and surprise villains who almost ruin everything.
Thank you Annabelle for this wonderful series.
I received an ARC from the author, all opinions expressed are my own.

The decisions we make in life are tough and either they come back to haunt you or they are succor for the soul. This final book in the Miss Primm’s series is so fitting as a wrap up of the series. We get to find out who wants to harm the school and we get to explore the relationship of Rowan and Augusta. This is one of the darkest books (not dark like bad things happen, but dark emotionally) from Annabelle. Let me explain, the emotions run so high and the storyline is so sad that I really wondered if Rowan and Augusta could overcome and move forward. Love knows no bounds and will always prevail. And double damn, thought I would get away with no tissues. Crap, I was bawling so hard I couldn’t read the words on the page. An amazing story.
Wow! This story grabs you from the beginning and never lets go. This has been a wonderful series! We have gotten to know the stern Miss Primm in previous stories as one by one, her teachers have found their HEA and left their teaching positions. We have seen the vandals attack the school and now we will finally get our answers to the who and why of it all. But best of all, we get to see who Miss Augusta Primm, really is as a person and the heart breaking tragedy she has endured for the past two decades. We meet the love of her life, Rowan Stewart, who has been gone for half her lifetime when the two lovers were torn apart with lies and betrayals . Each page will hold you captive as you root for these star crossed lovers to find their way back to one another.
This has been a great series and it finishes with an unputdownable read. This concerns Miss Augusta Primm and Rowan Stewart, two very engaging characters. They are some flashbacks in the form of memories to when they were younger and first met. Their’s is a heartbreaking story, so much happened in their past, will they be able to reconcile to each other again? There is also the ongoing mystery as to who is causing the vandalism to the school and the reason why. It has passionate scenes and some dangerous events. This was an engaging read that I really enjoyed. It’s always an added bonus when the villains get their comeuppance. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own. However, I did preorder my own copy.
This wonderful series has come to an end and I’m not really too sad, because every teacher of Miss Primm’s school found love and it was high time she had her HEA too! And I hope the author won’t abandon this gorgeous world she created and that she may give us other books linked to this series, so that we can see our beloved characters again. Anyway, I think this was the perfect end, because Rowan and Augusta’s story is really touching, well planned and well written. I loved the touch of mystery interwoven with the love story and I even cried a little at the end… A five star read, like all Annabelle Anders’s books! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the final book in the Series Miss Primm’s Secret School, and I have been waiting for it. I wanted to find out Miss Primm’s story, and this is the book to tell it. It is about a second chance at love, and what would each of you do to get it. Rowan is an illegitimate son of a Duke, and fell in love with Augusta when they were younger, until her father stepped in and broke them up. Now she is a spinster and run the school. So many things have been happening at the school, someone wants to destroy it. I was a little shocked to see who it was. Rowan and Augusta’s love scenes were hot, but I mostly enjoyed their story. I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest opinion.
I have read all the stories of Miss Primm’s school and knew that the proprietor had a doozy coming, and Annabelle Anders did not disappoint! Augusta met Rowen before her come out, she was betrothed by her father to his friends son. She had no hope of marrying Rowen, but they fell for each other anyway. But what happened? Their story is masterfully written and heartbreaking and uplifting. Everything that has been brewing in the series is painstakingly looked at through Augusta’s perspective. I loved how this was done. I loved Rowen and Augusta’ story to HEA! You all will too. I couldn’t put it down!
A second chance to a forbidden romance with a decade of secrets.
I enjoyed this story. A budding young romance where a debutante's father pulls the reins and sends her away. But sometimes fate will follow that winding road you've taken and creates a crossroads for a second chance.
We finally get the story to the owner of the school and how she came to be where she is. The school is being sabotaged and they've yet to find the culprit. There are many secrets that unfold in this book, some of which you won't see coming. The beauty of a book by AA, there's always a twist or two along the way.
Okay. This is the 7th and final book in this series. There were a few twists I didn’t see coming but they didn’t shock or surprise me. I just thought, ah hah…of course she’s going to know the struggle each of her teachers has endured. Makes total sense and that math adds up. The ending was OTT and bound to cause cavities as well as sugar overload. 🤮
There was a lot more angst than needed and some real mediocre bad guys…which made them easier to catch. Granted, the plot line from book 6 allowed this one to be tied up so neatly. I’ll miss the school because I miss the Cocky Gents, I see why it’s time to allow this part of the multiverse to end.
Tidying up loose ends for heroes, heroines, and villains
Steamy romance; much sexual interaction before marriage and plenty of history revealed. Rowan Stewart has returned and takes up with Miss Augusta Primm. As is typical of second chance romances, there is much comparing of notes and plenty of references to previous books 📚 in the series. Reading the previous books helps but is not necessary to read the story by itself. There is a capture and dramatic rescue. The HEA is quite obvious. The marriage and more consummation happens. Families get together and justice ⚖ is served with some mercy.
To be betrayed by her own brothers for not following the rules of what she should have done. Augusta and Rowan had fallen in love when they were younger and she was betrothed to a Dukes heir but she wanted it to be called off. They were going to elope but were caught by her controlling father, he beaten severely and she kidnapped to her aunts house up north. At least we now know who the vandals were. I'm glad Augusta got to have her HEA. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved how Annabelle Anders brought this series to an end. Seeing all the books in the POV of Miss Primm was interesting to see how she reacted to each teacher finding their adventure and how that impacted the school. The story of Rowan and Augusta was tragic but of course they finally got their HEA. The twist at the end kept me reading later than I wanted, but I just couldn't put the book down to find out what happens. This was a wonderful book to finish out the series. I highly recommend reading this series!!
Schooled by the Bastard Miss Primm's Secret School for Budding Bluestockings, Book 7 Annabelle Anders, author
This is the last book of the series, and it was definitely the best book in the series. Well worth it's weight in gold.
This is Lady Augusta Primm and Mr. Rowan Stewart's story. A story of second chances, secrets from the past and of course the man of the hour, Augusta's hero.
Lady Primm or Miss Primm, as she prefers to be called was cruelly disowned by her father, a marquess and the majority of her family because she fell in love with lessor man (her father's opinion) and refused to marry a Lord of her father's choosing. Taking pity upon her, her aunt took her in and left her money to open a school for young women. The only catch, she must walk away from the man she loves.
Now years later, struggling to keep her school open due to multiple issues such as, teachers leaving, scandalous propaganda and vandalization of her school; her one loving and caring brother, steps up to help her. He sends over his architect to help her with the repairs caused by the vandals. Little did Lord Longbow realize that Rowan was his sister's long-lost love of her life.
Rowan is faced with abandoning the project and Miss Primm or helping her with the repairs. But the vandalism continues and once there, Rowan is bound to discover the identity of the culprit. And the rest is history, as they say.....
Anders has been a well-loved and favorite author of mine since the onset of the publication of her books. Her steamy Regency novels never fail to bring a delightful story of love and happiness ever after. I highly recommend this book. Get out your tissues though, you just may need them. The secrets revealed definitely warrant them. I was gifted an advanced digital reader copy of the book via the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
