"The Eternal Crown is a high-action fantasy debut that will quickly captivate your mind while falling in love with the characters." ~nerdywordyreviews
The Eternal Crown - The Dawning of the Red Sun is book 1 of an up-and-coming series written by Michael Lopez. The series will have four books, with book 2, "The Eternal Crown - Trials of the Clergy", set to release sometime next year.
In this debut story, the nation of Ezra is about to receive a new Cleric, Myra Sol. A young, brilliant, and strong-willed woman who will ascend and take over her father's position when the time is right. For now, she must go through the trials to be blessed in such a position of power. Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Ezra, two spunky twins live with their father away from the city world. Koro and Kira are brother and sister and have known nothing outside of their tiny village. They have been the food hunters and village protectors alongside their father. One day, their lives change abruptly when they receive a summons to take part in the trials for the new Cleric, and they learn some truths about their father's past. Unbeknownst to anyone in Ezra, there is an evil lurking in the crowds, with plans to destroy everything the city knows. Will Myra be able to fend off the darkness? How will Koro and Kira take part in this venture? Will this evil entity take Ezra or will the Goddess of Light, Elora, illuminate a path for Myra?
Michael Lopez did an incredible job with the world-building in this story. The story's descriptions and details, skillfully written by Michael Lopez, provide the reader with a vivid look into the world. The characters are truly loveable in their own ways. I appreciate how strong he made his female characters, as well as one in particular, Kira. He ensured to incorporate the disabled community by creating such a powerful lead that uses her deaf disposition as a strength throughout this novel. The Eternal Crown has multiple points of view and storylines at the beginning of the book until their paths overlap and become one. High action scenes, magic, and obstacles in the novel kept me highly interested in learning more. Being a four-novel fantasy, I eagerly anticipate reading each book as they publish to conclude the story. There are a few beautiful illustrations randomly placed throughout the novel to aid the reader in valuable world-building moments. At this time, Barnes and Noble is the only place to get print copies of this story, however, Amazon has the ebook.
