Made in her Image. Made from Magic. Made to Conquer. Made to Rule.
My raw magic is gone...and I'll stop at nothing to get it back.
I barely have a moment to get my bearings after the Battle in the Highlands. To fulfill the prophecy and my destiny, I need to find allies in a brewing war that will shake the Kingdom of Magic to its very core.
How am I going to do that? Great question.
Made to Conquer is the second book in the Made from Magic Series and should be read after Book One: Made from Magic. Made to Conquer is a New Adult, Contemporary Fantasy Romance with a strong female protagonist. Contains adult situations including violence and spicy romance…not in the same chapter…for the most part. Great for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash. Ages 18+
Marianne A. Scott has been writing since she was a kid. When she was always singing, those stories appeared in song form, when she majored in acting, they appeared as screenplays, but novels and short stories were what she returned to when inspiration struck. Each and every story was driven by characters and love, and, most of the time, the hope that there was something fantastical about this world that us humans just haven't discovered yet.
When not writing, you can find her with her Kindle and a latte, sitting opposite her husband in their New Jersey home. In her other life, she teaches tiny humans how to sing, passing along her love of musical theater to the next generation.
I want to start off by saying Book 3 cannot get here fast enough. That ending.......Oh emm gee. But I read the first book and loved everything about it. The characters and plot and the world building, it just sucks you in. The first book is jammed packed with all those amazing tropes that we all love and read. So this second book picks up right at the ending of the first book. I have got say it has one of my all time favorite tropes which is BAD ASS FEMALE WARRIOR( IDK if that's a trope but man I'm a sucker for that).
Some of the other tropes are Who did this to you, one bed , and slow burn.
This won't have any spoilers but if you are looking to continue that same great adventure and storyline from the first just read this and join me in wanting that 3rd book.
Thank you Marianne for allowing me to read this glorious book and live in this world.
I thought I was loving Archer but dayummmmm Lowell is a yes please with absolutely no questions asked!🔥
Without spoiling the story, I love every single main character and side character of this story!! Not a single person was insignificant or left out. Every single person had a role from Edina to Katie. I love all the elements of magic introduced. I love the love interest that has FINALLY won Katie’s ❤️!!!!
Katie is so determined and a very strong main character. When her only comfort is ripped away she still remains the best person she can be not letting anything get in her way.
Lowell, Adriana, Vlad, and Edina have become great characters each with their own strengths and pieces that fit into the story perfectly. I hope there is a lot more of them in the next book!!
I received an ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I highly recommend it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🔥🔥.5/5 (It’s there, it’s hot, but there’s only a few solid scenes)
I was given a free, advanced copy of Made to Conquer in exchange for an honest review.
When I read Made From Magic, I fell in love with this world and these characters. It was a 4 star read for me, losing a star because I didn’t particularly like the love interest. I have been waiting on pins and needles for the second book, and believe me when I say, it was even better than I was expecting.
I loved every second of this book. We pick up right after the end of the first book, and it is a race against the odds from there. This book had all my favorite things:
Werewolves Found Family The “Who Did This to You” trope The one bed trope
And so much more. My favorite thing by far was Scott’s treatment of PTSD, depression, and anxiety. As someone who struggles with all three of these, I loved that there was absolutely no stigma revolving around seeking help for mental health.
Being that this was an ARC, there were some grammatical and punctuation errors. However, the story as a whole made complete sense and kept me entranced the entire time. I DEVOURED this book. If you enjoyed the first one, I highly recommend continuing the series. I will be waiting (im)patiently for the final installment of this series.
I want to start by saying I received an advanced readers copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
Holy shit. I did not want to put it down. I cheered, held my breath in suspense, and cringed from second-hand embarrassment for the characters. It was amazing!
If you like found family, this story is for you. The band of strangers turned family that surrounds Katie (the MC) will make their way into your heart.
Waiting for the third book is going to be extremely tough. Especially with the cliffhanger at the end.
After devouring the first book (Made From Magic), I received an ARC of this one. When I tell you that it exceeded my expectations, I’m not lying. It was so highly awaited as I was dying to find out what would happen next.
The way that Scott was able to build a world that I felt as though I was present in was absolutely amazing. The suspense of what would happen next as well as the basis of found family, werewolves, and one bed trope kept me involved and interested. Scott also includes some mental health aspects in such a way that not only allows readers to connect and resonate with characters, but do so without the portrayal of the stigmas surrounding them.
This book kept me interested, and continuously wanting to know what would happen next (and I am already ready for the next book). With the world building and character portrayal that Scott has done so well, this book is a must read if you enjoyed the first!
Good baby Jesus that cliffhanger! Also I willingly burnt my mac n cheese because I had to finish a chapter before I could go stir it.
This book is an adult fantasy story which follows Katie, now Queen, trying to restore the balance of the kingdom. She encounters more magical creatures than the first book, and shows her growth through her obstacles she was given.
There is a lot of sexual tension throughout the book, and the sex scenes are graphic, but tastefully done. I would suggest the book for 18+ for the sex scenes, but the story line was incredible.
Honestly so bummed the third book isn’t out already because I NEED to know what happens! I was an ARC reader so when this book has the options for paperback I will definitely be officially adding this to my home library.
I loved the first book "Made from Magic" and was honored to receive an ARC! I devoured this book and it was everything I wanted and much more. It has my all time favorite tropes "Who did this to you?" and one bed. If you liked the first book, you'll definitely love this one as well!
My questions that remained from the first book were delightfully answered. I would give this book a higher spice rating then the first. I was captivated from the first page, and loved all the side characters. I can't wait for the next installment, 2023 is so far away!
I enjoyed the second book more than the first because I was routing for the love interest. Overall a good read. I wish that the conflicts would have more of an impact through having a central buildup moment. I wanted more of a focus on Katie being a queen and more specific plans on how to rule the dark witches. She would let everyone do the work and then be surprised when something bad would happen. Like girl you are the queen stop prancing around the woods with your werewolf and get to work. She would often be plopped into situations with unrealistic outcomes and no real plan.

I’m sorry but we ended it that way because???? I will say this book took me a few chapters to get back into it but once I started I couldn’t put it down. The last book needs to come out sooner. Also so happy that Archer isn’t her true love. I always liked the werewolf more but didn’t know which way it was gonna end up. I don’t think this series would be classified as a cozy read but it is to me for some reason so 😂 I need this last book like now!

Couldn't put it down! When I say that I mean I absolutely couldnt, i syarted it at 10 PM one night and didnt go to bed until 3 AM when i finished the book. I was lucky enough to be able to ARC read this book from Marianne and let me tell you can she weave a world of magic into a book. This story follows Katie, a magical Witch who has encounters with vampires, sexy werewolves, and other mythical creatures. It's got some spicy scenes that were very well done and I already can't wait for the next book to come out.
I was given a free, advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved book 1. The characters, the world, the roles, the storyline, the connects, and so much more.
Now in book 2....I'm blown away! I couldn't put it down. It picks up right where the first one left off. The twists and turns that happen to try and find the answers keep you on the edge of your seat. Gets pretty damn steamy with this slow burn romance going on. The author really gets ya going and you're thinking it's going to continue, nope, she then takes it away.
Love how Katie continues to develop in this book, the new characters we get to meet, development of characters from book 1, and the love interest!
I can't wait for book 3! It's going to be such a long wait.
This series has it all- love, magic, betrayal, adventure, humor, and smut🌶🌶🌶
Book 1 was definitely more of a prologue-style book that sets the story up for the rest of the series. I could have used a slower burn, but it all makes sense when you get to book 2!
Everything changed very quickly at the end of the first book - there was a great cliffhanger that made me immediately want to read the second book 😱
I LOVED the pace and character interactions in the second book. The MC really developed into a more likeable character, and the banter was 👏🏼 on point👏🏼
I felt the series needed a bit more oomph in book two and author seriously delivered 👌🏼
Not to mention- the ending of the second book ALSO has a major cliffhanger. I NEED the third book to come out!!
I enjoyed the mind magic and telepathic communication between all of the characters. There wasn’t a single character I did not love♥️
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘴: 💓One bed trope 💓Found family 💓New adult fantasy 💓Sweet docile prince 💓Sultry werewolf
𝚂𝚢𝚗𝚘𝚙𝚜𝚒𝚜 (𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚘𝚛 𝚜𝚙𝚘𝚒𝚕𝚎𝚛𝚜)
Kathryn is a feisty and impossibly strong witch who sets out to fulfill a prophecy and reunite the kingdoms. To do so, she must ally with the elemental witches, werewolves, vampires, mermaids, and fae- a daunting and deadly feat.
Tasked with accompanying and protecting the Prince while he is on mission for moment of valor, army captain Kathryn is less than thrilled with her new “role.” She leads the prince’s team with strength and purpose, and finds she enjoys the prince’s company more than expected.
Two men battle for Kathryn’s love and safety, and she must choose which path affords her the best protection and happiness.
Preparing for a war between the kingdoms, Kathryn and her allies face a barrage of attacks, which threaten Kathryn’s power and status as Queen of Dark Magic.
Thank you @marianne.a.scott.author for the advanced copy of Made to Conquer!
I was lucky enough to receive and ARC and because I hadn't yet read the first book increase it first. And I was hooked! This book left me speechless! Hot and so much spice! If you love fantasy that includes some steamy scenes this series is for you!
If you love: Smut Werewolves Vampires Witches Fae
This book was a race against the odds with do many twists and turns to keep you on your toes. It does end on a cliffhanger but really all good books do these days! It does have some things that could be triggers so if you arent into backdoor play, or if PTSD and anxiety are triggers keep that I'm mind when reading this book because it does feature these. However it's very limited and the PTSD/anxiety scenes are handled so amazingly!
There is one more book in the series and I really can not wait for it to come out.
🆗 World with different beings: witches (mostly), werewolves, vampires, fae, syrens,... 🆗 Revolt ⬇️ Monarchy ⬇️ MMC: protective, sweet, understanding, considerate, supportive, hot, powerful, alpha but not overbearing 🆗 FMC: cautious leader, traumatic past 🆗 Cozy, intense "connection" 🔥 Smut (2.25/5): includes a little an*l play, a touch of praise kink and a tiny vibe of dominance 🆗 Romance 🆗 He fell first 🆗⬇️ Plot ❌ Timeline too fast ❌ Abrupt transitions between events: without proper development ❌ Contradictory/inconsistent info/behaviour ❌ Convenient solutions/answers suddenly appear
❗ Mentions past abusive parent (not sexual), burning people, torture, dealing with loss of power/identity, survivors guilt. All topics are mentioned lightly, not too graphic.
Additional notes:
To be honest, I did like this 2nd book a lot more than the 1st.
🌐 World building
We get a bit more information but it is all still quite messy and confusing.
There is a clear lack of background information and definitions. Not only regarding the beings that exist in this story but how the world works, what is normal, what is expected.
The context is often given a little too late just to justify some situation in the story. And often it feels like it contradicts what we knew from the bits and pieces we gathered along while reading.
✍️ Writing style
🔸The transitions between main events were too fast.
Not just the timeframe (which in most cases was unrealistically short), but the way the change was presented. There was no proper preparation and development. And on some occasions there was a complete lack of support and justification to the way the characters behaved.
For example:
- the FMC abandoning everything to go to the enemy + accepting and defending the dark witches + being queen (book 1)
Without a second hesitation nor even trying (or even thinking about) another option, the FMC decided on the spot, straight away to leave her family, boyfriend, job, life and everything she knew behind. Not just leave, but desert and go to the people she believed to be the worst of the worst, the ones under the rule of the person responsible for her torture and trauma.
Just to give you an idea of the unbelievable timeframe and change of behaviour and actions. In less than 24-48 hours, the FMC did the following: - left the castle where she was with her prince, - went away to celebrate Christmas with her family, - discovered the truth about her bff, - decided to abandon everything and leave with bff to go to the enemy, - met her torturer and the source of her nightmares (without any problems), - met, interacted and accepted a family member she loved, thought long dead and has been influenced by her torturer for years, - accepted and was crowned queen (very anticlimactic btw), - went in a trance, met someone important and learned about some prophecy, - accepted and defended she was the chosen one in the prophecy, - accepted and defended her role as queen, - became incredibly powerful, - became protective of the dark witches, - defended the dark witches and fought against someone very dear to her, - felt unmeasurable pain and almost died, - lost something precious and received terrible news, - someone she met once appeared and she sought solace in them - started to get ready to fight back and revolt
🔸The easily presented answers and solutions
The unrealistic way the FMC learns everything in her first attempt.
Or how every problem is resolved on the first try.
Do you need allies? Sure, right away, no problem, here are the leaders at your command.
We have to execute a military operation. Do we need intel and preparation? Nope, everything is done, just go.
Do we need to train? Sure, let's do it right here in the middle of somewhere not really appropriate, with mediocre instructions given half-heartedly which everyone understands and is ready to attempt straight away, without reservations nor proper guidance/supervision. But everyone understands, right? So carry on, while I go.
❤️ Romance
Better.
🔸Better love interest but abrupt change
One more example of the abrupt changes of behaviour without having the character go through the proper emotions and processing what happened, at least in more than just one or other isolated events.
One moment she is besotted with her initial love interest, they do something horrible and she simply shifts her attention to seek comfort from a new love interest to whom she feels a connection.
Sure, their sexual relationship goes slowly but the connection and intensity is there. There is no doubting their intentions or their feelings. The only part they second guess is having actual intercourse.
The trauma is only mentioned very briefly in one or two events and most of the time it is overlooked, as if it doesn't exist. Even when the FMC has to confront the people responsible for her trauma or anything that should have triggered her, she acts normally, without problem, as if nothing happened. It feels like the trauma is just mentioned when it suits, to create some drama. Other than that it is simply resolved by taking some tonics or forgotten.
🔸MMC fell first but waits while FMC is with another - not a fan❗
This trend has been used in quite a few books as of late... I am not a fan of having the MMC being tortured and in constant doubt of the FMC's feelings because of her being/have been in another relationship. Not that we see him all full of angst... unsure of his place and waiting to see if the FMC is ready to let go of her previous love interest and move on or not.
🔸Side characters love triangle ❌❌ (Doesn't involve the MCs)
Nope. Nope. Nope.
Sorry, I like the side characters but this plot line was just unrealistic and unnecessarily overdramatic.
Who, in their right mind, would think having sex with the person your friend likes (knowing they like them back), even if that person is also your friend, would be a good idea?! Sure, it "doesn't mean anything", "we are just friends"... Come on!!! Wake up!!! That has messy written all over it! Why would you get between a couple who likes each other?! Even if they are not together and are in denial...that is just hurtful. And a betrayal... In my opinion... And I really do not like this.

I give this 5 stars. When I did the review of the first book, I said it needed some character development in my opinion. Keep in mind I haven’t read fantasy in 8 years. Boy did the second book get way better. I started and finished it in a matter of I think 3 hours. I couldn’t stop reading it. I love the characters now. I still have to reread sentences to make sure I keep up with the different realms and people involved in them but it was such a good book. I love the dynamic between Katie and Lowell. I even love that Katie considers Vlad family. I just love the development in this book. You see more of the characters’ true colors and get to really know them. I wish I didn’t have to wait for the next one. I read both books on my kindle but I will definitely be buying special editions when I can! Amazing book!! I was so honored to receive an advanced readers copy! I will gladly volunteer for the next book as well!!

So listen.. I ARC read book one— and had to come back for more I re- read both and finished both today. And I initially loved made from magic but made to conquer develops the story beautifully. It makes made from magic seem very chapter one, in a good way! It’s like those books where that first one is only gonna be your favorite until the next book. Adriana and other new characters get their needed backstory and time to shine. Katie’s issues with the things that happen next are discussed in healthy, exemplary ways that I hope younger (not too young this one’s spicy 🤪) people will take into consideration while caring for their mental health. Marianne’s ending is SACRILEGIOUS and a crime to humanity but while ultimately be what makes everyone come back.
SPOILER ALERT
We all knew archer was naughty possessive can you say T-A-M-L-I-N #iykyk
And mr were man is just a fineeee piece of literature and furniture 😉

I read book one Made From Magic earlier this year and I genuinely loved the story and the characters. I received an ARC of Made to Conquer and it was everything I could have hoped for and more.
*No spoilers*
I could not put this book down. It starts off where the first book ends and you are thrown right back into the story. This book has all of your favorite tropes, but I can honestly say that they are written in a completely original way which is so hard to find in a book. The magic and politics are so unique, but they don’t leave you feeling overwhelmed or overloaded. The world building continues to be amazing in this book and it is done in a very natural way. The spice was kicked up a notch from book one, which I loved, and the romance and tension was top tier!
I truly cannot get enough of this world, I already want to reread these books!!
HOLY CANNOLI. I was super excited to be an ARC and read this. I was so impressed by the arch and won’t lie when I say the ending is SUCH a cliffhanger, literally already want to read the 3rd, so it could come out now and I’d be the happiest. Haha, but truly, exactly what I have been looking for in a werewolf/witches/ vampire/ farie story line.
I recently just started reading smut- so there were parts I was not ready for.
I appreciate the PTSD story arch, because I feel like sometimes in fantasy these tragic and terrible things happen and we never see how the character recovers from it.
I received an ARC of this book and WOWZA I couldn’t put it down!!!!! I fell in love with this world in the first book and the teaser of what was to come and man oh man did book two DELIVER
✔️fun characters ✔️unique world building ✔️THE SPICE YALL I DIED
also found family, who did this to you, one bed, the list will go on and on!!!
I’m DESPERATELY waiting for the next one to come out… the cliff hanger HURT but I loved this book and so many things were done well and the romance is *chefs kiss* and yeah one of my top series and THE BOOK BOYFRIEND SKYROCKETED UP MY LIST🥰🥰
Obsessed. Holy shit. . I was an ARC reader for this book & I LOVED the first one (made from magic) so I was excited. This book though — phew. She turned up the spice on this one. If you like smut, werewolves, witches, vampires… this is all you baby. I don’t know how she created the perfect storyline & gave the characters the perfect amount of detail while keeping your attention and throwing twists in there.. Cannot wait for the 3rd book already!!
4.5⭐ This was AMAZING!!! So much better than the first book. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lowell
The tension between Lowell and Katryn is through the roof!!!!! I love them!!! Lowell is so supportive and always knows how to comfort Katie. I also love Vlad, Edina and Adriana. All of them make my heart feel warm. I LOVE LOWELL. I can’t even explain how much. I love that Katie’s and Lowell’s love language is physichal touch. They are meant to be together!!!!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this book, thank you to Marianne Scott for sending me this one! This book is one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Did I devour this book in a day? Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not.
Made to Conquer starts off right after the conclusion of the first book, and I mean immediately. Our main character Katie has just survived her encounter with hellfire and her magic has been affected. However, she has a ton of new responsibilities that require her focus on top of the issue with her magic including her role in righting the imbalance of power among the kingdoms. Katie is then thrust into her new role as Queen navigating the discord amongst the witches lead by her father and having to find a way to bring the other leaders of magical creatures into the fray. We've got werewolves, vampires, dragons, harpies, mermaids and more in this book so she's got her work cut out for her.
I would definitely recommend reading the bonus chapters from book one which can be found on the authors website because the events that happen in this book after the initial intro do have some overlap. If you're like me and want the whole picture that is 😉😅
For those of you wanting some more hot werewolf in their life, this is the book for you! Lowell, AKA hot werewolf guy from the first book is back and being "all kinds of dramatic." It's great. He's great. I love him. *swoon* He makes her tea for gosh sake! UGH, I can't. They tease and banter with each other and even when she struggles he is understanding and compassionate. Marianne successfully wrote him to rival some of the most popular dark/broody morally gray love interests especially if you like your guys a little more primal 😉🥵
We also get to explore more of the side characters in this book including Lowell's best friend Vlad and the relationship between Katie and her sister. Edina uses her heritage to gain allies for Katie and has some sort of underlying story we have yet to discover. I am excited to see where these side characters go in the future books because we get such a small tease in this installment but I can really see some interesting plots unraveling between them all both politically and romantically.
TROPES ✅ One bed ✅ "Who did this to you?" ✅ Nicknames/Pet names ✅ Mates ✅ Mind to mind conversations ✅ Found Family ✅ And more...
This book is SPICY y'all! If you don't like explicit scenes then you might find yourself blushing a bit and fanning yourself. Don't worry, it's good for you... trust me. I don't want to spoil anything here but just know you get multiple scenes with all the tension and build up. It's a bit of a medium burn with things taking some time but the tension and desire is basically there from the start and reading those bonus chapters I mentioned earlier will definitely help it feel less insta-lovey.
Now the only thing holding me back from this being a five star review is that the pacing of this book can sometimes feel a bit rushed. Some of the conflicts that occur seemingly happen out of nowhere or with little build up. Specifically, the part with the werewolves. I would've liked more build up or mention of some of the concerns these factions might have rather than them just suddenly happening. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book and I will be suffering for the next year. This book ends on a cliffhanger. Yep. Apparently, it was supposed to be worse than it is but it still feels pretty devastating. I'll just be over here with my heart in my hands, anxiety ridden and desperate for the next year... No need to worry about me, I'm doing fine 🥹

Recommended for readers aged 18 and above, "Made to Conquer" promises an enthralling continuation of the Made from Magic series.
I received this ARC free from Marianne in exchange for an honest review. Man oh man, go read this book - NOW. You won’t be disappointed…that is until you get to the cliffhanger at the end and need to wait to know what the heck is going to happen until book 3 comes out next spring.
We jump back in right where Made from Magic ends. The plot revolves around Katie trying to fix her magic, build an army, and stop her father from undermining her rule and taking her throne.
This book has a bit of everything, adventure, found family troupe, one-bed troupe, fated mates as well as “touch her and die” vibes. We get a bit more development in regard to world-building (history & different species) and the various relationships in this book. I love the side characters! Their stories, personalities and roles draw you in as much as the main characters. I did find the pace, especially at the start of the book, a little fast. I would have loved it to slow down, give more details and be a longer book.
The spice…4.5 outta 5 for me! Praise kink - yes please. Aftercare actually shown - heck yes!
It has been a couple of days since I finished the book and I am STILL thinking about it!
Slight spoiler below:
I was ECSTATIC that Lowell was her mate! He is a man whereas Archer is a whiney, spoiled, brat.
“You don’t need to shoulder this alone,” Lowell murmurs. “I’m here if you need to break.”
“And what? You’ll hold me together?”
“You can do that yourself. I’ve seen it,” he says, softly. “I’ll be there to catch the pieces so they’re easier to find when you’re ready.”
This ending had me on the edge of my seat! I didn’t like Archer (I think I’ve made that known lol) but I can’t believe how crazy he is. Like HOW can he do this to Katie. I am HOPING that maybe his “experiments” will maybe help to give BACK her magic that his hellfire is attacking.
I’m obsessed! I can’t wait for book 3. I received this book as an ARC after reading Made from Magic. It’s been a blast to watch Marianne A. Scott develop this series. I couldn’t put it down. I read it all in one night, thinking that I would just read a few chapters and go to bed. But here I am writing a review at 4:30 in the morning because I couldn’t stop reading.
1.) Writing style and grammar; You can tell that Marianne A. Scott has matured as a writer. The writing in book 2 (Made to Conquer) is a million times better than book 1. The first book wasn’t poorly written, but if you compare it to this book it has matured and improved.
2.) Plot and Characters; The plot in book 2 is amazing. I’m so excited for the next book. Something would happen, and I wouldn’t see it coming.
I will also just say that I want a Lowell for myself. He was one of my favorite characters in Made from Magic, and I’m so happy he came back. Also, Who doesn’t love a shifter that cares about their mate, respects the needs and wants from their mate, protects their mate at all costs? Not to mention that he is 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶/5🌶.
3.) Other; Without Any spoilers, the development of this series is great. The story itself does end on a cliff hanger. So, if that’s not something you love in an unfinished series, I would say read it anyways.
I give this book a solid 4.5 out of 5 ⭐️, 4 out of 5 🌶, and a 10/10 for recommending this series to others.
All right. Here it is. The past month or so I have had a hard time finding a book that really sucks me in, meaning I’ve dnf’d a lot of books too. Feeling a bit of dread with my reading slump I was very nervous to read Made to Conquer.
I had absolutely nothing to worry about.
This book gave me everything. Romance, plot, ooh’s and aww’s, you name it I felt it. I also discovered two of my new favorite tropes via this book. Shifter in wolf form sleeping on the bed like a giant puppy, yes please! So cute! And while the “I’ll burn the world down for you” trope is exciting, I argue that “I’ll help you conquer the world” is infinitely better!
It was so enthralling to get to meet the different magical factions in this world and go along for the journey as our Dark Queen grows her army to bring equality to their world. Katie is a boss and I wish I had her energy!
Honestly this book is everything I could have hoped for, and is by far the best book I’ve read this month… Maybe even this year!
This book was incredible from beginning to end and I am so SO glad that I got an ARC! I don’t think I could have waited any longer.
This was an ACR for this book and my very first one. First I would like to thank M.A.S for letting me be apart of this process cuz holy cannoli was this a fun ride!
I am REALLY IMPRESSED. I LOVE THIS SERIES SO FAR!!!
FMC is fantastic Marianne does an awesome job developing her characters and her dialog is punch line perfection!
Vampire daddy KILLS ME 😂😂😂 I didn’t stop laugh from the second he opened his mouth
“What’s the first thing we do after shifting? We put on pants”
The only thing I would say as a critic is that there are a few under developed parts. One min there is nothing between 2 specific characters and the next we have a whole side bar love drama about it that wasn’t hinted to or led up to over a significant amount of time. I wish there was just a bit more detail in some places as well. I would have loved to spend some time with vlad and Edina in farie. I’d have loved to have seen how Roger and Adrianna ended up teaming up. There were just a few muddled/ missing details that I feel would have made things feel a little less rushed.
BUT
Over all as a debut book series. It is fantastic AND I AM NOTHING SHORT OF WANTING TO CONCUR THE WORLD WITH THESE CHARACTERS.
She pulled a SJM on us and I couldn’t be happier about it. I really thought I loved a certain…. Lover… until I hated his guts.
She brought us into this world of found family which I love so much FMC is sort of estranged from her mother. She suffers with anxiety and depression and panic attacks and being this tough as nails hard core kick Butt leader and women Marianne leads us down a path where FMC doesn’t allow her anxiety and PTSD get in the way. She surrounds her with love and support and let’s us see her make the conscious decision to seek help. She treated this as normal and accepted and as someone who suffers from all of those things. I really truly connected with and appreciated that so much. She didn’t allow room for stigma and that is not something that a lot of authors do. she made it less about showing weakness and more about now seeking help was a strength.
M.A.S is very talented and does a really great job with world building as well it’s enough description and details that it gets the point across with out being wordy and pages long. ( which is personally my fav. I can’t stand books that are more description then they are story) over all I am not in anyway mad at her… well…. Except for leaving me on that cliff hanger that I have to wait til MARCH ish to quench.
There is so much about these books that I truly love the story is original her take on magic and the world around it is modern yet not in anyway. We have kingdoms and cell phones and dragons living in mountains and rock bands that tour and it works REALLY REALLY WELL.
I’m sure I’ll come back and edit this again to add more.
THIS IS A MUST READ SERIES. I CAN NOT WAIT TO OWN THEM ALL.
