All I want to do is take care of my dad, so when I land the job of a lifetime that will take care of our expenses, I grab at the chance with both hands. Little do I know, the impossible will be expected of me.

Slowly my smile fades, and my laughter dies until all that's left is the broken puppet my personal hell created.

Liam Byrne, the head of the Irish mafia, returns from a business trip, and I expect my hellish nightmare to increase ten-fold.
Brutal, merciless, and dangerous, Liam is feared by all - even the monster intent on killing my soul.

Turns out I was wrong.

The instant Liam notices what's happening, he takes me under his wing, and even though he's all sharp edges and threatening growls, I feel safe with him.

Little by little, my sunshine creeps through the cracks, and my laughter returns.

But can one monster really defeat another, or am I just a girl dreaming about the impossible?

calling this book a romance is a bit of a stretch.

i just don't think this book knew what it wanted to be. there was STRONG insta-lust and a decent bit of smut. and a lot of attempts at plot. and a lot of possessiveness induced by our heroine having an attacker that the hero wants to protect her from.

i think this would have been more entertaining as a smutty novella, cutting down on 100 pages and ditching the assault plot line. i get that mafia romances tend to veer into dark romance territory but reading multiple on page descriptions of assault and then a few pages later our heroine jumping into bed with the hero just didn't feel well handled. the beginning of this book was delightfully silly and i was looking forward to a breezy mafia read with an alpha hero but once it turned weirdly dark it just wasn't for me.

might be for you if you're really on the hunt for a possessive alpha. those seem to be harder to come by these days.

Michelle Heard has a new fan and I am ready to devour her backlist. This book was so good.

Liam is the head of the Irish mafia in Chicago but he has a “legit” construction business that acts as a front. Kiara comes to work for the business as a receptionist not aware of the criminal undertones.

What I loved about this book was that it was heavily couple focused. Not a lot of “mafia business” but the evolution of the couple’s relationship. I also loved the side characters and I absolutely adored the multiple epilogues and wished they continued on…I didn’t want them to stop.

I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

Sigh. A don’t-touch-me H that only melts for the h? Yes please

I loooove reading books when the H dislikes people or hates being touched, but then he meets the h and softens JUST for HER. Don’t get me wrong, Liam Byrne’s (39) VERYYYYY MUCH alpha and dominant over Kiara (24)🥵, but man, his sweet is so damn swooony too🥹. His devotion to Kiara makes me get so emotional.

The way her body fits against mine, it’s as if she’s a piece of me that was missing. She’s the emotion I was unable to feel. She’s the touch I missed my entire life. In the early morning hours, I realize that I’ll raise heaven and hell for this woman. Within a matter of hours, I’ve gone from being attracted to her to being absolutely devoted.

This is very different from book 1, but I enjoyed it just as much (just differently). The book opens up giving us Jimmy’s perspective, Kiara‘s father. He finds out that Kiara‘s mom’s pregnant and they decide that Kiara won’t know that he’s involved in the Mafia world, so that she can stay protected from all the drama.

Liam lifts his hand, brushing his fingers over my cheek. “You’re not trying to run.”
The corner of my mouth lifts. “How far would I get?”
He shakes his head. “You won’t make it off this bed.”

Flash forward to the present. Kiara‘s trying to find a job to make ends meet. Not only has her father suffered a heart attack and needs assistance, but she also needs money to survive. She finds a job at Byrne Enterprises, and both her parents want her to not pursue this job. But she needs the money so she ends up getting hired. What she doesn’t know is that Liam is the head of the Irish mafia.

“You really like carrying me around,” I tease and wrap my arms around his neck.
“Safest place for you is in my arms,” he murmurs.
🥹❤️

The Byrne brother she meets isn’t Liam, but Finn, and Finn isn’t a good guy😒. In fact, he starts crossing lines soon after she starts working. He ends up blackmailing her to do as he says or else her mom will suffer the consequences.

Enter swoony and boss-man Liam. Liam can’t stand being touched. People know this, and they respect his boundaries. The first time he physically encounters Kiara is when she bumps into him in the elevator- and he doesn’t recoil in disgust. She intrigues him, interests him, and he looks at her in awe. He wants her, and she wants him too 😉. Which leads me to the chemistry🔥.

“Say the words,” I demand, the urge to kiss her becoming overwhelming.
“Which ones?” her breaths fan over my lips.
“You’re mine.”
She lifts her hands, placing them against my chest. “I’m yours.”

Liam’s never kissed a woman before👀. He’s never even been fully naked around a woman because of his aversion to touch, but with Kiara, he’s naked in more ways than one.

“Yes, you’re the first woman to touch my chest.” I look at her with every ounce of the obsession I feel for her. “Everything with you is a first for me.”

This is on the slow burn side; it’s understandable- Kiara was being blackmailed by Finn and Liam ends up rescuing her, but once she starts healing, it’s on 😈. Liam’s patient… she’s gone through a lot, but once she submits to him and is ready, he takes over and it’s 🥵💦. He’s alpha, dominant, and everything she needs. She craves him, and I was here for it 💁🏻‍♀️🔥. Oh LAWD. He’s a boss-man in more than just the mafia world and business 😉.

Finally, strength returns to my body, and I’m able to pull out of her. Kiara spasms. “Good God, Liam. I’m so sensitive.”
Satisfaction fills my chest, and I grin like an idiot. “Still feeling me inside you?” She nods. “Good, the second you no longer feel me, tell me.”
She lets out a chuckle. “Why?”
“So I can f*ck you again.” I press a kiss to her parted lips. “I want you to feel me every second of every day.”

Just like book 1, I cried. Gah. This book got to me. I mean, I also giggled, but I was definitely in my feels while reading this book.

Liam is just so damn sweet, and he’s ONLY sweet for her. He’s so romantic and genuine and just… gahhhhh… 🥹❤️. I loved this book 🥰🥹.

“I don’t want to give my heart to you only to have it thrown back at me.” His eyes hold mine with a serious intensity. “That will never happen. Your heart will be the most important thing I own.”

And this is why I love him so much 😫🥺❤️

3 We Were Meant to Cross Paths Stars ⭐

Landing a receptionist role at Byrne Enterprises is a big deal for Kiara. Regardless that her father is opposed to the job, money is key. Sadly, Kiara should have listened because her employment soon turns into a nightmare.

Head of the Irish Mafia, Liam Byrnes rules in and out of the workplace. And from the beginning, when Kiara captures his eye, he will do anything to protect her. Unfortunately, he's yet to learn of the horrors Kiara is suffering at the hands of his brother. Not to mention the connection that binds them.

“I promise, if I steal, it will be to steal her heart. If I cheat, it’s to cheat death so I can stay with her longer. If I fight, it will be to protect her.”

When Kiara’s situation escalates, it's Liam who comes to her rescue and everything is revealed. He's had a mafia Princess right beneath his nose. And as King, he's entitled to whatever he wants. Cue the possessive OTT behavior.

“So that’s it? You decide I’m yours, and that’s the end of the story?”

My mouth curves up. “No, it’s the beginning of the story.”

The modern-day fairytale aside, this book started off quite gritty and enthralling with secrets and angst that had you feeling anxious. However, it nosedived halfway through. The plot became thin and all their issues became inconsequential. The romance felt rushed. Throw in some mafia business / drama and there you have it.

Owned by A Sinner had the qualities of a soap opera. Not exactly fantastic yet you wanted to keep reading to see all the drama unfold. I dunno, there were some solid romantic moments, but it was also silly in parts. But don't take my word for it, check it out yourself.

I never screamed so loud when I saw this in my kindle!!! Now I have to say Liam blew me out of the water he has moved top Book husband in this series of mafia men!!!

He is the head of the Mafia family and hates being touched so when he's back from work/vacation he meets Kiara at his company he has a tiny spark but he tries to push it down he's a bad man and she's to innocent or so he thinks. As for Kiara she has a rocky relationship with her father it was sad to see and BISH I WAS SO EMOTIONAL she had so much happen to her in she was already harassed by his step-brother blackmailed and mentally torured by that man (she was ABUSED ON page by him) and almost raped but saved by Liam. From that moment he made sure no one hurt her.

I started sobbing because more heartbreaking moments happened to Kiara and Liam and find out they do share something. Now that Liam knows he makes sure she understands she's his. And boy it was delicious!!! That scene with her learning how to shoot.. BABY LIAM SPREAD ME OPEN!!!

Only thing I wish we saw was Liam offing off his dead.. but that's just me lol.

Angst, no ow drama/Om drama (the stepbrother), no cheating, slight secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins

When Kiara Murphy unwittingly accepts a job at the last place her father wants her working, Byrne Enterprises, she quickly becomes the target of Finn Byrne.

Despite a general aversion to people and, particularly, touch, Liam Byrne, CEO of Byrne Enterprises and Chicago Don, is instantly mesmerized by Kiara. When he finds himself not feeling sickened by her touch, but craving it, he knows she’s different, his.

“So that’s it? You decide I’m yours, and that’s the end of the story?” My mouth curves up. “No, it’s the beginning of the story.”

I really loved so many aspects of this story. I love the dichotomy of a made man when he is both tough and tender. However, if I’m being 100% honest, this story was a bit flat for me. I did not read Taken by a Sinner and kicked myself for weeks when I saw the raving reviews. When the early opportunity for Owned came up I was all over it. That said, it felt like there were a lot of missed opportunities. The mafia vibe was very understated with little on-page action. Likewise, the couple of smexy times were almost fade-to-black. It could be said I’m a whörė, but I want that sh!t sprinkled like confetti. Is that a me problem? Perhaps. I think I had misguided expectations based on the first in the series. Was it a good read? Yes. Will I try another by the author? Yep.

I really wanted to love this book and the beginning started off so strong. I loved how Kiara is working for this company that Liam is the CEO of, but Leo is really the head of the mafia. Their connection was instant and Leo felt like he could trust and touch her when he can't do that with anyone else. He is someone she feels safe with, especially when someone is threatening her safety. Once we hit the halfway mark, though, it felt pretty insta-love considering they barely knew each other or talked. There were elements in here that could have been so good, but they were only surface level. Her relationship with her dad was so interesting, but that wasn't really delved into. Kiara and Liam fell so hard for each other, but they literally knew nothing about each other and barely talked. We know Liam doesn't like touching each other, but we didn't really get to go beyond the surface of him as a character. I just felt like I was missing a connection to both the story and the characters, so I didn't end up loving this much as I wanted to.

“I promise, if I steal, it will be to steal her heart. If I cheat, it’s to cheat death so I can stay with her longer. If I fight, it will be to protect her.” Then I add my own twist, “If she cries, it will be tears of happiness. If she’s in pain, it will be because she’s giving birth to our children.”

a H who doesnt like to be touched but makes all the exceptions only for the h. ☺ regrettably, this didnt hit quite like the previous book. there were a few things i wouldve liked to be expanded on. the romance was a slow burn at first, which was delicious. however, it quickly turned into insta love in the second half with no depth. the MCs barely know each other. 😩

i didnt “mind” the sexual harassment plotline, but it didnt feel right reading about the h being sexually assaulted one moment and her jumping the Hs bones the next. i wouldve loved if the h & her dads relationship was explored more (spoiler: im mad he died before he could see his daughter & the H together; i could only imagine his reaction). the mafia stuff was kinda whatever. 🤷‍♀️

this is a light mafia read (trigger warning on attempted rape) with an age gap (H 39, h 24), workplace, boss/employee, and “damsel in distress” romance. the H is the head of the Irish mafia, but he runs a legitimate business where hes the CEO of as a cover up. i’d say this feels more billionaire than mafia. overall, enjoyable but couldve been better. 🙃

***2 Stars***

This is the basic bitch of mafia romances.

Where's the grittiness and darkness? There's no depth or emotion here. Just cheesy cliches.

Kiara felt like she was barely out of her teens and not a 24 year old woman. She Googled what it means to be the head of the mafia for fuck's sake. Like there's a job description online or they have a LinkedIn page.

And Liam, who's almost 40 years old (40!!!), sounds like he's playing a mafia boss in a high school play.

I mean, I'm no expert by any means, but I don't think members of the mafia say the word "mafia" as often as is mentioned in this book. Nor do they talk openly about their business . . . "hey man, the warehouse where we're keeping the illegal guns and couterfeit machines has been robbed." Seriously?

Also, one of Liam's character traits is that he doesn't like to be touched and won't consume anything that is prepared by other people. He's disgusted by all of it. When Kiara asks him why, he simply shrugs and says "No reason. I've just always been that way." Solid character development there. Insert eyeroll.

Alright, I could go on about how the characters are one dimensional and bland, the ridiculous insta-love, and that it's nothing more than a weak ass formulaic plot with mediocre writing . . . but I won't.

I also won't go into the fact that clearly the author is not from Chicago, nor consulted anyone from the area, because WHEW are so many things wrong.

I'll just say this was not very good, but at least it was a quick read.

Liam didn’t suck. He wasn’t much more than a cardboard mafia MMC—touch me and die, touch her and die, my father is my enemy, my brother is my enemy, my soldiers are my family…yep, that’s about all we get of Liam’s character—but at least he didn’t suck. One standard issue mafia hero, dark blond, with tattoos, although how he got them when he won’t allow anyone to touch him is an unsolved mystery.

But I found her! I wasn’t looking for her. I had, in fact, hoped to never, ever find a female main character as stupid as Kiana, but there she was! Yes, she got a little creeped out when her boss, Liam’s stepbrother Finn, called her into his office and sat her at his desk, leaning over her and touching her shoulder. Inappropriate, she thought. But she made herself NOT pull away. Yes, she hesitated when he told her to put on the slinky red dress he provided for her and go with him to a “work function,” but he pointed out she would meet people important to advancing her career…as a receptionist? She put the dress on. When he tells her to twirl so he can get a good look, she…twirls. She wishes he wouldn’t touch her, but she allows it. He’s got his arm around her, hugging her to his side the entire party work function. He forces a kiss on her outside the venue and she tells him she’s not interested, he threatens her, and she leaves hoping he’ll forget all about it, but is afraid it will affect her job.

I’ve researched sexual harassment in the workplace, but the fact that I don’t have any proof and it’s my word against his leaves me hesitant to go to HR with the problem.

No proof? Didn’t she wear the dress and shoes he bought for her home from the party? Pretty sure HR would consider that proof of inappropriate action on the part of a boss.

And then he threatens to kill her mother if she doesn’t give in to his demands and if she tells anyone about his threat. So, with her mother’s life on the line, she doesn’t tell anyone. Natch. Because enabling a psycho is the best way to protect the people you love.

And so forth. Every time this woman needed to think, she came up woefully short of the necessary equipment. Hooking up with Liam was truly her best chance of surviving daily life any random Tuesday. Gerbils need a big, strong protector, and she’s lucky she’s the only human on earth that he can bear to touch him. Well, her and tattoo artists.

I guess the tragedies that befell her were supposed to make me sympathetic enough to overlook her lapses in thinking, and they did soften my scorn for her temporarily. But then she got hysterical and had to go to her apartment to get her treasured mementos and OF COURSE led Liam and his men into an ambush. Now that I think on it, her best chance of survival might have been Liam, but she’s not at all good for his longterm longevity prospects.

The big confrontation at the end played out hastily and was anticlimactic. The epilogues were cotton candy: overly sweet, sticky, and empty calories.

The writing style was simple, character development didn’t exist, and I found the story uninteresting This was my first and last book by this author.

Owned by a Sinner is flat. The idea is promising. The writing is decent at the beginning, but then the romantic feeling developed too fast and the plot became cheesy.

Kiera and Liam's characters never grow. It seems they are stuck in a flat boring story line.

The first book is one of my fave. This second book is a great one too! Damn I love the actions and the whole mafia thing. It's not all about the mafia though just in case you're wondering about it, THE ROMANCE is great too and it's romantic 😍😍😍 I will read these series for sure😏😏😏

What I really find it so romantic is when the hero goes to the heroine's father grave (they know each other for years so he respect her father so much) and asked for his blessing to marry his daughter🥺🥺🥺🥺😍😍😍

“I promise, if I steal, it will be to steal her heart. If I cheat, it’s to cheat death so I can stay with her longer. If I fight, it will be to protect her. If she cries, it will be tears of happiness. If she’s in pain, it will be because she’s giving birth to our children."

It literally made me cry a bit.

This author really knows how to touch my heart🥺🥺🥺🥺

NO UNNECESSARY CHILDISH DRAMA, THE STORY IS WRITTEN SO WELL AND GREAT. I LOVE IT! I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE!

‼️‼️‼️TRIGGER: High on violence, blackmailed, almost r*pe, killing, death, mafia, hospital, grieve, and alcohol.

‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING, NO SEPARATION, LOCATION: CHICAGO, THE HEROINE IS 24 YEARS OLD AND THE HERO IS 39 YEARS OLD, LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT, NO VIRGINS, NO DRAMA WITH OW. ONLY WITH OM BUT NOT TOO ANNOYING AND OTHER DRAMA IS ABOUT THE FAMILY, THE HERO IS NOT A MANWHOR3, THE HERO IS POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE BILLIONAIRE ALPHA MALE (BUT NOT OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE), THE HEROINE IS NOT A BADASS WOMAN LIKE I THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE BUT SHE'S SWEET AND GREAT (The hero teach her to use a gun), VERY HOT SMUT SCENES😏😏😏, NO PAST PARTNER EVER SHOWS UP, THEY TALKED ABOUT PAST PARTNER BUT NOT NAME JUST WHAT IT IS IN THE PAST AND ONLY ONCE THEY TALKED ABOUT IT,

NO PUSHING AWAY AND HAPPY ENDING. MARRIED AND HAVE TWO BEAUTIFUL KIDS😍😍😍

And yes the hero is obsessed with the heroine so much....

“Was it love at first sight?”
He kisses me softly.

“I loved you long before you came into my life. When you bumped into me, my body recognized yours. When you looked for safety in my arms, my heart knew you were the one.”

🥺🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽

I have a disclaimer down bellow if you have negative thoughts about my review😙😙😙

🌐🌐🌐➡️↘️⬇️➡️This is my own personal thoughts and opinion about the book so if thats not sit right with you or you feel I’m not being fair blablabla, please know that everybody in this world have their own different things that they like and don’t like. It may not be the same thing with you but thats okay because i am my own person and you cannot control me or tell me what to do. For example; i put ketchup (tomato sauce) on my fried chicken. You think that’s disgusting? For me its not and i’ve been eating it like that for many many years. You tell me to put another sauce and see if i like that better? I already did many many times in years but i still like the way i like it. It’s called differences between me and you and billions people in this world😊 be open minded😙 I respect people’s opinions about my opinions but in the end of the day if i say I don’t like it or i do like it, its up to me and its on me. And in the end of the day i always liked and show my respect to books and people’s opinions on books whenever that book is good or not good in my opinion 😊 Respect people’s opinions guys😙😙 I don’t want to write this down because its not really my thing to do it. To like address something like this when obviously i know the people who’s been reading my reviews many times and all the time, they are smart enough to understand and respect other people’s opinions no matter what their opinions on book or their point of view 😙😙 am i right? 💕 also there are people even though i already write “this book is different because i have my own taste of book” those people still comment my taste is this and that when HELLO… everybody have their own thoughts on books and what they want to read… why i read it then? I read it and give it a review because i have to read a book to give it a review… why not read the description book to understand before I’m going to read it? Hello just in case you haven’t notice, description books can be tricky because they write this amazing things about a book but turns out the story is so toxic. Maybe for me its toxic but not for you? YES HELLO THATS WHY US HUMAN BEING HAVE OUR DIFFERENCES, WHAT I LIKE IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU WILL LIKE IT AND EITHER WAY TOO. why i still write the review then if i just don’t like a book? Because I CAN and i want to, you cannot tell me what to do and not what to do🤪 if you still wants to be negative and be karens about my review on book after all of what i just write, i will never acknowledge you and simply ignore you because its not that hard🙏 I won’t respond to negativity comments🙏🏼🙏🏼 DON’T ASK ME AGAIN ABOUT WHY NOT RESPONDING TO YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS BECAUSE I ALREADY SAY IT HERE AND I WON’T BE EXPLAINING AGAIN BECAUSE WE’RE NOT CHILDREN SO ITS NOT HARD FOR YOU AN ADULT TO UNDERSTAND😌😌 YES MY REVIEW IS LONG BUT YOU READ IT ANYWAY AND ITS FINE ACTUALLY I CAN WRITE AS LONG AS I LIKE😎 YES MY GRAMMAR IS BAD SOMETIMES AND MAYBE ALL THE TIME BUT LUCKILY MANY PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I’M SAYING🤪 ⬅️↖️↕️⬅️↩️⤴️

This was freaking epic. I am so glad I was convinced to continue this series. This one worked so well for me.

Liam was so swoony. He had issues (OCD and is a germaphobe) and he is a mafia boss and business owner. He is also falling for a new secretary at his business. The only problem is, he never wants to touch people... but he REALLY wants to touch Kiara. Also, another problem, his fucking stepbrother is making her uncomfortable at work.

This was a slow burn between them, but when Liam makes his move and rescues Kiara from a horrible situation... an epic love starts.

I could not put this one down. It was amazing.

Immature and very cringe writing. Insta love to the max. This just felt like it was written by a 13 year old. Could barely finish it. Weird because I don't remember the author's other series being this bad 🤔

Safety: safe

Om/ow drama- heroine is assaulted by the hero's step brother though

No cheating/sharing

No manhos/virgins

"When you looked for safety in my arms, my heart knew you were the one."

Well this one started off good with some amount of drama and mystery. Though it picked up pace halfway through. It was definitely a page turner but it was a quick read. The plot was nothing new but Kiara had to go through some hard stuf one after the other, it's like she couldn't catch a break. I felt for Kiara but it was hard for me to connect with Liam because it was mentioned that he doesn't like to be touched but it wasn't explained why he is that way and when Kiara came along, it's like that entire thing flew out of the window. The chemistry was great with butterflies and all that but the develop of Liam & Kiara's relationship was too quick. It's like he saved her and she practically fell in love with him in a second. I feel like they should've had a proper conversation about getting to know each other before taking huge steps in ther relationship. I'll still be reading the next book in the series though.

Great read…

This author is an insta-everything! The fluid writing style, unforgettable characters, and passionate stories linger in my mind long after the last page is turned…

It may not have been destiny, instead a quirk of fate maybe or just eyes meeting across the room. Whatever sparked it, the events that followed felt destined.

While not as dark as some reads before it, I was completely distracted by the growing relationship between Liam and Kiara. Liam determined to no weaknesses and Kiara simply wanting more out of life. Secrets may have been the foundation but they slowly let the walls down between them. And those secrets were either going to light the lighting chemistry between them or burn them up…
They were not alone and I was so happy to see recurring characters pop in, pop by, and provide support and a strong arm (a weapon or two) when needed.

I don’t know if I would call this a stand-alone. I would definitely recommend the first in the series followed by every other series by this author. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed… ~Diane, 4.5 stars

2 stars. I liked this book less than book 1. It was just all a bit too much for me. I decided to read this because I was curious about the Hero - and how he couldn’t stand to be touched. He just sounded interesting to me. However, that entire portion of his character just seemed so fake to me, that I couldn’t take it seriously.

The hero had no issues at all touching or being touched by the heroine. He has never touched anyone else in his life without recoiling but somehow the heroine is immediately special without any prior acquaintance. She’s just immediately different, period, the end. And this probably goes back to my dislike for instant love, but it doesn’t work for me to just SAY she’s different. There’s no build up or anything believable in that.

The part of the hero’s “condition” that truly boggled my mind was that he still had sex with women (not in the book, but he says he wasn’t celibate). But he didn’t like touching them, so he stayed dressed. Let me just add the quote here…

I sit up a bit straighter so I can meet his eyes. “How does sex with you work?” That doesn’t sound weird at all. “I mean, with the no touching and all.”
He looks at me for a moment, probably thinking about how to answer my question. “It’s usually clinical.” Shrugging, he adds, “I never undress.”
My eyebrows lift. “You do the deed fully dressed?”
Chuckling at me, he nods. “Only one body part is needed to get the job done.”
“God, you make it sound like a chore.”
“That’s because it was.”

So he thinks sex is a chore, clinical, doesn’t undress. So I just don’t understand why he would have sex regularly if it’s like that for him? Why not just use his hand if he needs a release? His description sounds awful to me, so why would he put himself through that? SMH.

So overall, this book also has a lot of really dramatic drama that just became too much for me. Especially the stuff with the evil step-brother. It was just too much and too over the top.

Oh, and the heroine definitely had ways to get away from the crazy step-brother, like when the hero made it very clear that he would help her… but she ignored all of the obvious options until it was almost too late.

Safe; no virgins, both said they weren’t celibate, no scenes with om/ow, but heroine is forced to kiss the H’s step brother a few times, and he tries to rape her (on page) but the hero saves her, no cheating, no OW drama, OM drama from the H’s step brother.

TW: attempted rape, noncon, violence, gore, death, death of parent

DNF- I hate dnf-ing books, but after the father died, I just could not deal with this immature writing anymore. Nothing and I really mean NOTHING was dealt with the maturity and sensitivity that it needed. I love reading dark romances. But just writing multiple pages of assault descriptions to make it a dark mafia romance is just bullshit.

Better than the first book of the series! Still wouldn't categorise this series as dark romance though.

⚠️ TW: abuse, sexual assault, violence.

I like Michelle's clear style of writing, it isn't long winded and it's easy to follow without sounding monotonous. She also includes the ages of the characters at the start of the book so no one needs to flip through the pages to check.

I liked Liam (H) in this book, he was protective and also serious in his mafia work which showed a great balance. Usually alpha men make me roll my eyes but this book portrayed Liam well. Kiara (h) too was a determined and strong woman who learnt to stand up for herself over time. This book had boss x employee and forced proximity tropes and I love the whole "pining over my hot boss" thing so that really satisfied me. Smut wise, I'd rate it 🌶️🌶️, it is hot but could have more descriptions 👀👀

Nothing groundbreaking but just what i wanted. I kind of like how these mafia lords are fallible and have feelings about losing their men.

Star Rating : 4/5 Stars

POV : Dual

Cliffhanger : None

Hero : Liam

Heroine : Keira

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 4/10

Heat Rating : 5/10

Triggers Involved : Non Con (almost)

Plot Summary :
Keira finally has something to be happy about. Taking care of her old father who recently suffered from a heart attack is not easy but this new job might just be the big opening she is expecting. That is until she arrives there. Her own personal hell. Soon her smiles wilter and her dream job becomes nothing but a prison for her which might just end up hurting her very family. Liam is the only one who can save her and as the owner of the company, as soon as he finds out what has been happening right under his nose, he takes Kiara under his own custody.

It is with Liam that Kiara realized that there is so much more to play than she ever realized and she was now stuck in the middle of a mafia war and the only person who can save her might just be the very person who owns her now. Her boss. Liam.

Overall Opinion :
Damn, Liam and Kiara are here!

After reading the last book of this series, I have been dying for more from the author and she seems to have fulfilled my wish. I read this one as soon as it popped up on my Kindle. Definitely loved it a lot!

The first book of this series was much darker and steamier than this one and I found this book to be a contemporary read like the author herself said. But the chemistry between Liam and Kiara is what made it all worth it for me.

Definitely recommending this book to all the mafia romance loving people out there.
