Many Christian parents endure the emotional and spiritual pain of loving a prodigal child. Daily they suffer, often alone in their silence, watching from afar as their child makes poor choices. Unfortunately, the trauma and grief of the parents of prodigals is rarely addressed in the church setting, leaving so many moms and dads to wander alone. There are real biblical solutions available to everyone who is walking through broken relationships and carrying the scars of what we call the Parent Prodigal Process. Dr. Weiss, drawing upon his thirty-plus years of experience working with prodigals and parents of prodigals, delivers biblical and practical tools to aid you in your journey to hope and healing. You can’t change the fact that you have a prodigal but you can set your mind upon how you will go through this journey with your prodigal. Dr. Weiss presents this thoughtful guide to help you navigate the process and help others so they, too, can have healing on their journey.
So thankful I made it through! This was a hard read because the book is badly in need of an editor - so many mistakes! Got on my last nerve! I like what he’s saying - that because of Free Will, that pesky gift from God, we are not responsible for our children’s decision to leave God, no matter how many mistakes we made as parents. Still hard for me to accept this. I will hang on to my copy for awhile and reread my many underlines.
I can’t tell you how much this book has helped my husband and me walk through a difficult time with our prodigal children. Through each chapter, we’ve experienced more and more freedom, even as we are experiencing very real pain. I encourage every parent struggling with a prodigal child to buy a copy of the book. You’ll receive the practical counsel and insight of someone who’s walked through it with thousands of families.
This book is Awesome as And the timing was perfect for me as I am in the prodigal process with a family member.
Highly recommend this book to anyone to help understand the reasoning your child my have left home . The Prodigal Story in the Bible is explained in a way in this book that I never looked at before. The decisions of the Prodigal were not because of the father. They were if the Prodigal. Free Will.
This was one of the most helpful & eye-opening books I've ever read. The author uses Biblical Truth from Romans & Luke to explain the process of prodigals. I highly recommend it!
