Explosive Revenge was a better read than I expected. I liked the characters and found the suspense to be really well written. The romance moved a little too quickly in my opinion, but that's usually the case with these shorter reads. I liked how the bad guy wasn't obvious and it kept me guessing. A good read.

This is my favorite out of the series. We finally get to see who is trying to take down the Unit. I loved how they entire team pulled together in the end.

A sweet, somewhat formulaic romance. I wouldn’t mind reading more in this series.

Tyson, director of the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit, investigates sabotage of his unit, and falls for Skylar, Denver policewoman, who is investigating a linked drug dealer.

Some turns of phrase just don’t work in this story. It may just be an editing issue.

“Instead of replying, he looked down at his (canine) partner. The dog’s feet danced. ‘What is it?’ Tyson’s laser focus turned to his partner, Echo (the canine partner).” He was already focused on Echo, wasn’t he?

This author does not seem to understand bread makers or making buns. “There was something both fun and relaxing about kneading the dough, shaping the buns with her palms and watching them rise and become golden in her bread maker, … knowing when she got home, she’d have the hot, cozy and delicious aromas waiting for her.” Bread makers knead the dough and let it rise. Unless ‘bread maker’ means ‘oven,’ buns do not go in the bread maker after shaping, and they must rise about one hour after shaping. The risen buns are then placed into the oven and baked about 12 minutes. You can only get home to delicious bread aromas if you bake a whole loaf in a bread maker.

Contains: Premarital kissing, blood, bombs, murder, drugs, mentions of physical abuse.

I absolutely love this series and am wavering between excited and in the depths of despair over its looming conclusion. Excited because we will finally get closure on the over-arcing series suspense (and my brain is in overdrive imagining all kinds of plausible scenarios) and despair because I don't want the fun to be over. Such a bibliophile quandary!

'Explosive Revenge' is the seventh (and second last) book in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit continuity series but don't be alarmed, it can easily be read as a standalone. While all the books in the series share a common suspense thread, each book has it's own suspense and romance plot as well. The series' suspense is gradually building to a conclusion, but each book solves its own unique mystery and, of course, delivers a happily-ever-after for our investigating couple. Plus the authors do a great job of delivering details on the over-arcing suspense developments in a way that is both a gentle reminder for series fans and a casual update for newbies. Makes for satisfying reading all the way around. :-)

Have to say Echo, K-9 extraordinaire, stole my heart and grabbed my attention with every head tilt, ear flop and probing stare. Black knows how to write 'dog' and I might have swooned more over Echo than Tyson (rabid dog lover that I am.)

I was excited to get Tyson's story since he's been in the background throughout the series, directing his team while struggling with works of sabotage within their facility. He's been operating on the mistaken idea that being a leader means fixing everything for everybody. Loved his personal journey which has him realizing that letting go of control and accepting assistance from both his team and Detective Skylar Morgan will not only lead to better results, but set him free in so many ways. But, oh my, what a journey that is!

Then we have Skylar, succeeding in what still might be considered a man's world, and maybe over compensating sometimes because of that. She's ready for Tyson to try and wrestle control of her case from her, but he keeps surprising her which leaves her discombobulated. Great dynamics between these two that leads to the kind of taut romantical frisson that kept me engaged.

Awesome suspense, with a nice mix of investigative work and action added to the page-turning-ness of this read. Cannot wait until 'Rescue Mission' by Lynette Eason releases later this month!

Oh -- and I listened to the audible edtion of this book narrated by Kelli Tager who did an excellent job of bringing these characters to life. Absolutely ecstatic (and that's putting it mildly) that this series is available in audio format.

Will the bi-monthly attacks on the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit's HQ result in the closure of this team? Is there a connection between this vandalism and the past of the Unit's director, Sergeant Tyson Wilkes? And will his K-9 partner Echo and local Detective Skylar Morgan be able to help him solve this mystery before their world goes KABOOM?

"Explosive Revenge" by Maggie K. Black is the seventh installment of the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. For those unfamiliar with the annual K-9 series by Harlequin's Love Inspired Suspense line, there are eight novels and a double novella written by different authors. While there are usually three overarching story-lines covering the whole series, each have their own story as well, and are written that a person who picks up a book in the middle of the series won't be lost.

This is true of this volume. The first novel deals with the first mysterious attack, with others popping up in the series. As director of the Unit, Tyson is a supporting character through the series, and Skylar has a couple of appearances as well. This novel places the spotlight on this storyline and focuses on the couple. (What do you expect? This is a Harlequin imprint!)

I thought this was a well written story. Black manages to keep things moving so you're constantly trying to guess who the villain is. It develops its main characters believably (including Dutch Shepherd Echo).

Would it surprise you if I recommended both this book and the series so far? I wouldn't be surprised either.

Action packed story

The title says it all: Explosive Revenge. Tyson, the chief of the Ricky Mountain K-9 Unit, and his dog Echo are counting down the last few days, based on some concerns from the Special Agent in Charge (SAC). Then in walks Denver PD Skylar asking for his help in a major drug case. This starts off a string of violent events near the K-9 Unit or Tyson or Skylar. Can they survive and figure out what is going on? Will the Unit continue or be closed down?

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has a few kisses. The characters are vivid and engaging. The situation is extremely complex and pulls you into the story. You really want to read these books in order to get the most out of this series. It is almost complete. The Christian ideals are visible, but seem woven into the storyline. The overarching mystery will be solved in the next book, but then there is a Christmas follow-up book with 2 shorter stories in this setting. I thoroughly enjoy reading these K-9 Unit books and hope you will as well.

Just finished reading #7 in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Series Explosive Revenge by Maggie K. Black. The series is excellent. Different authors pen each one of the novels for Rocky Mountain K-9. Tyler Wilkes is working hard not to end his career with the Rocky Mountain Unit but his boss feels that he is working solo attempting to secure solutions to the problems of the destruction taking place at the kennel and the office at the K-9 center as well as trying solve the massive drug situation exploding through out the Rocky Mountain Stateside. He joins forces with a Denver Detective who is working on solving one of the explosive situations developing within her department. She requests help from Sargent Wilkes and in the process works with him to blend some of the work to help his problem as well. This is an excellent series. I heard into #8, Rescue Mission by Lynette Eason. Should you decide to read Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit enjoy!

A lot of fast action. Someone is trying to sabotage the K-9 unit and threatening the leader, Sergeant Tyson Wilkes, but who and why? Tyson is approached by Denver detective Skylar Morgan for help on one of your drug cases. She feels it is a large ring but they cannot determine who is the kingpin. As they investigate will they find out that the cases are related? Who is trying to stop them and why? Will they be able to figure it out? Will the K-9 unit be able to continue operating under the FBI or will the SAC director shut the program down?

As Tyson Wilkes is forced to consider that his beloved K-9 Unit will be forced to disband, still another mysterious attack is made on the headquarters. Now, instead of silly pranks, the terrorist is resorting to using bombs to threaten Tyson, Denver PD detective Skylar Morgan, and the unit. The big questions are whether they can figure out the connection a that the criminal has to the Tyson AND whether they can figure it out in time.

Tyson Wilkes runs the Rocky Mountain K-9 unit and is worried the FBI is going to shut him down. In walks Denver Police Detective Skylar Morgan. She is after a person selling drugs and she wants a job on the K 9 team. He tells her he can’t hire her. Then things started popping as explosives are found as Wilkes’ SUV explodes, etc.

Great action and romance are wonderful in this book. Maggie Black is a great author.

Explosive Revenge literally explodes off the page from the start. A mysterious Bomber, who seems to know a lot about the K-9 Unit. Why is he targeting them? Who is he? who is his "boss?" Added to these problems are other urgent cases and an FBI agent who can shut the unit down. What's next to go wrong? A riveting read, hard to put down, and edge of your seat adrenaline rush. A must read (within the series, of course.) 😊

Love these books! This time we get the story of the head of the K-9 unit - and who is threatening the very success of the entire enterprise. Tyson and Skylar's story is a great one. And, of course, Echo is great, too. I love all of these books - as a series but each is great as a stand alone. I rushed right through this one because I wanted to know who was causing all the trouble for RMK-9. Loved the ending. Skylar was great!

I really enjoyed this Love-Inspired, Suspenseful romance. I bought this at a local store and I voluntarily chose to review this clean, K-9 unit book. I've given it a 5* rating. This was another book that pulled me in quickly and had me reading whenever and wherever I could find time. Lots of action and violence escalating till the end. Add the K-9 dogs and I can't hardly resist this series.

Someone is trying to destroy the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit and the man in charge, Sergeant Tyson Wilkes. Who is the culprit, and why? Tyson and his dog, Echo, along with Denver detective Skylar Morgan are kept busy trying to stay alive while solving the case. The bombs are getting stronger and time is running out! This is a good story with plenty of action!

Wow! suspense with romance too!

I enjoyed this book…you can read it stand-alone, or as part of the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. Will they find the one causing trouble before their unit gets cancelled? I listened and read parts of the book to finish it quicker. I found if I turned up the narration speed, she was actually pretty good.

Who doesn't like a story about a man, woman and a dog?

This book had it all! Great plot and the characters were well defined. The storyline was quite believable. The best part was the closeness of dog and handler. Loved the spiritual essence.

So many Mysteries in One!

Although sometimes the storylines jumped around a bit, this book was packed full of so many substories and excitement, and tension.
