I’ll never give him a second chance … not even in his wildest dreams.
Preston McConnell broke my heart. Took my virginity and walked out the door. Now, things are different. I’m different. Stronger. Far more independent than when we were naïve college kids.
South African heat. Gorgeous sunsets. And even more gorgeous slick bodied men. I might be forced to follow Preston for an article on the infamous Lion Whisperer, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have a little fun with his best friends while I’m here.
If Preston wants me back, he’ll have to make room for them as well.
Lucy Smoke, also known as Lucinda Dark for her fantasy works, has a master’s degree in English and is a self-proclaimed creative chihuahua. She enjoys feeding her wanderlust, cover addiction, as well as her face, and truly hopes people will stop giving her bath bombs as gifts. Bath’s get cold too fast and it’s just not as wonderful as the commercials make it out to be when the tub isn’t a jacuzzi.
When she’s not on a never-ending quest to find the perfect milkshake, she lives and works in the southern United States with her beloved fur-baby, Hiro, and her family and friends.
Wildest Dreams is a quick insta love almost read. The main female lead is heartbroken still after 6 years. When she gets a job of a lifetime to take pictures of a doc in Africa. She goes. Only the doc is her long lost love. But his best friends have also made her heart beat again.
This was a quick almost insta love read. We have just the right amount of danger. A good quick read.
I needed happy and that’s what I got. It had lions and 3 hot guys and a girl, in the middle of South Africa. They figure out them and how to catch poachers. It’s a cute quick smutty read.
I'm a fan of Lucy Smoke and have read everything this author has written, and enjoyed them all to boot. I've just finished reading Wildest Dreams and I enjoyed it. It's a quick and steamy read (I think it was originally released as part of a box set but am not 100% certain on that) that takes us and the main character, Jen, to South Africa and into the Bush. We meet two steaming hot, hunky men plus one more who is part of Jen's past. The question is will he stay in the past or is he part of her future? Wildest Dreams was a fun and light read, but it did have a message about the dangers wild animals are facing on a daily basis from poachers and tourist hunts. It's a sad truth which I feel is not shown enough to the western world about just how dangerous and real poaching is. I did enjoy Wildest Dreams. Would I liked it to of been a longer book? Well yes, I'm not going to lie I always feel any book I enjoy should be longer as I don't want to put it down. However, I enjoyed the story at the length it was written at and it gets five stars from me.
This was a short, exciting, and entertaining novel. I'm glad I found it on Amazon and decided to chance it by reading it.
I honestly couldn't imagine going to another country for a brand new job and not freak out a little bit. But Jen jumped at the chance and in the end it was the right decision for her in this stage of her life. Preston, Jay and Wren are great characters, though we really didn't get a chance to get to know any of the 4 because this was such a short novel. I honestly think I'd rather have Wren over the rest, but if you can have all 3, why pick, right?
The whole history with Preston and Jen was a bit annoying after reading the same statement over and over again (in a short novel, too), so that's why I'm put off from them.
I also enjoyed the part about helping to stop the poachers and the scene with Preston and Leo? So heartwarming.
After reading such big books lately I wanted to pick up a shorter book so I chose wild hearts. I could not go wrong with it. This book drew me in from the very first page and I finished it in a few hours. I loved all the characters in this book, jen, wren, Preston and Jay. All of them had there own quirks which you found out pretty early on, however they were fiercely protective. There is history with jen and Preston which you find out pretty much straight away, however you then find out it was a misunderstanding on both there parts! I could happily have read more of there story and had a lot more detail but as it was only a short book it was done perfect so you know everything you need too. This book is a rh fast burn with a happily ever after and the ending was perfect for me
That was... wild. Ha! I found the story line interesting and well informed. I loved the twist that was thrown in with the third and most known vet. I truest hadn’t seen that coming. I felt the story line progressed quickly in fact a few points I found myself rereading to make sure I hadn’t missed something. There most certainly was sex. The scenes were well written and formed an image perfectly in your mind. My favorite line in the entire book was the one about shucking corn. Lol. Overall I felt it was an excellent and quick read especially after she made it to Africa.
I'm usually not a big fan of novellas because I feel like there's just never enough time for everything. BUT...Lucy worked some word wizardry and knocked this one out of the park! I loved that it was sweet and steamy, but also had a plot with some action and adventure. It definitely surprised me in the best way possible and ends with a happy for now!
Quick & Dirty Details: FMC - late twenties, photojournalist Reverse Harem - 3 guys that run a vet/animal rescue clinic Contemporary, Med-Fast Burn Second-chance love Standalone novella
Loved this concept, felt refreshing after the last 10 books I have read and definitely took me out of my hangover! I actually liked the length and thought it suited the story really well. I pretty much recommend all of Lucy's books, but definitely pick this one up if you want something hot and not a long book/series. It was the perfect length for me to read during my lunch breaks this week at work (even if my face got red with some of the scenes hehehe).
I really enjoyed this book. I don’t usually read many contemporary stories, but this one had plenty of mystery and excitement. It was a quick and steamy read, and the only reason it’s 4.5 instead of 5 stars for me is because I would have liked to see the effects her decisions had on her career at the end as well. The writing was excellent!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this novella. It's a quick read and moves fast but will keep you entertained throughout. Jen is searching for her dream job when she is sent to South Africa to photo a vet and his friends. What she doesn't realize is the vet is the man she hasn't been able to get over in six years. I liked all the characters and their openness. Jen will have what she couldn't imagine in her wildest dreams.
I really loved this book. It's my first book my this author, and I love the why choose troupe, especially if they are all in agreement. I loved Preston, Jay, and Wren and how they found Jen beautiful and didn't make her choose between them. It was a second chance romance with a misunderstanding that made her lose six years with Preston, her first love then they meet again in South Africa when she has to go there to photograph him with the animals. He is a veterinarian. Spicy short romance.
This is a fantastic stand-alone reverse harem romance novella. I absolutely loved the storyline, it was fresh exciting with drama and romance. I found it was very well written and I was hooked from the start. I was almost watching it play out in my head. I love the characters, I found myself indignant on Jen’s behalf! I highly recommend this fabulous read
I loved this novella, it was short but HOT and exactly what I needed after a book slump. Jen has a conflicting past that causes some issues for relationships but that’s all about to change. I really enjoyed this book and felt that it held all the necessary components that I love in a novella. It was exciting, emotional and steamy.
WOW **cue fanning myself** What a steamy hot read. It's a hot read all round. Firstly the backdrop - South Africa, the animals, the location, and touches on the reality of poaching. Second and thirdly are the characters and storyline. It's awesomeness. You connect with each character and fall in love with them. Highly recommend.
Hot, steamy and is the perfect way to pass the weekend!
Great getaway read! Quick, easy read you can really sink your teeth into. An escape to another country that is realistic to the issues occurring there. Get comfy, make sure you have snacks as you will not want to stop once you start reading.
I reviewed this book when it was published in an anthology, and now I’m moving my review over.
This was such a unique storyline by the author and I was hooked right from the beginning! I loved Jen and her guys! Preston wasn’t my fave, but the other guys made up for it! ❤️
This book was a fast-paced and steamy quick read. It was an enjoyable read, and I liked the characters - I would really like a more in-depth book about them in truth. But I liked this novella, like I do all of Smoke’s work.
Sometimes you just need a shorter, fast paced, steamy read to tide you over. Well this is what we get here. It may be short but it will have you hooked cover to cover. Always love this authors work and this one is no different.
Fast paced, quick read. This story was smoking hot and the characters even hotter. Wildest dreams follows Jen who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity only to run into her past. I so wish there was more to the story just because I want to dig deeper into these characters.
Wildest dreams by Lucy Smoke is a fast paced, novella. This story is smoking hot and with super hot characters. Wildest dreams follows Jen who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity only to run into her past. If you want something fast paced with some steam read this book.
I absolutely love reverse harem books, and I really enjoyed reading this story. The author did a great job of bringing attention to the problem of animal poaching, all while giving us a great romance between four people.
I wish I was Jen, getting shipped off the South Africa to follow around 3 sexy men... especially Preston, Wren and Jay. Yummm!! This was a cute story, with a satisfying ending! Hoping there’s a novella one day to give us a little more to their happy ending. 🤞🏻🙏🏻
Sugar and spice and everything nice, that was this book in a nutshell. The plot is very straightforward, we're talking second chance romance with a twist and I did enjoy it a lot.
A story of a girl ready for a new adventure that takes a wild turn when she’s confronted with someone from her past. The chemistry is sweet between all the characters; love straight out of Jen’s wildest dreams!
The only thing that was complex was when I looked for it originally on Goodreads it didn’t show up. It’s listed under Wild Hearts on Amazon, but Goodreads is completely different. Just an FYI to anyone else!
Regardless, it was a steamy, quick and fun little novella to read!
This was such a sweet easy read! Lucy Smoke did a great job with writing this characters! I haven’t read anything that takes place in anywhere in Africa! I loved it!
This novella was such a great read, I did not want to put it down. It had the steam and romance I love as well. If you are looking for something fast paced this is definitely a go to read!
