JULIE IS SO SWEPT AWAY WITH A NEW LOVE, SHE IS NOT GOING TO RETURN HOME ANYTIME SOON...
Julie has been widowed for some time and has settled into her simple routines in her English village florist shop. She is content and happy enough as she keeps busy after losing her husband and her twin sons are managing the farm in East Anglia that they once owned together.
Then one day, a mysterious, suave man arrives in the village and enchants her with charm and charisma. Unexpectedly, Julie finds herself smitten with Stephen and his advances and enjoys a selfish romance she has not experienced since her husband passed away. Her twin sons do not trust this new man occupying her time and having influence over their mother.
Stephen convinces Julie that a break across the globe may serve them best to enjoy their newfound love and so they arrive in Sydney to begin a touring holiday that may become something more but Julie suspects things with Stephen are not all they appear.
Julie suddenly finds herself alone and in dire circumstances as Stephen becomes someone that she must fear as his past comes forth to reveal his truth. She escapes his attack to hide away from him in Queensland and in hope of safety.
Will Stephen find her and kill her before his past finds him?
I have just finished reading INHERITANCE by Gillian Wells (available on Amazon) I really enjoyed this book, not the least because it moved from the UK to our own area here in Southeast Queensland.
The plot is very family-oriented, and I expect that there are quite a number of women who find themselves in the main character, Julie's, situation, but hopefully not as perilous. Mrs. Wells writing is clear and unambiguous, but intrigues with an underlying feeling of dread. One knows there are going to be tears involved, but how and when? The outcome is satisfying and will be totally appreciated by Australians 🙂
✍️ This is the story of Julie who has twin Son's and runs a farm and florist. After the death of her husband a long time ago she meets Stephen who she adores but who her family don't trust. When they take a holiday overseas things start to crack and Julie starts to suspect all is not how it appears with Stephen after all as she's in fear for her life and escapes his attack to hide away from him. Will it be too late?
After reading the enthralling synopsis I was filled with extreme anticipation and as soon as I commenced reading I was CAPTIVATED! I raced through it.
The writing style was Graceful, Thrilling and Compulsive. Very easy to read. I enjoyed that the chapters were long and the pages short.
I was kept in suspense from start to finish. I appreciated the author's knowledge on farming and agriculture as was part of the narrative.
The characters were enticing and cleverly executed. I delighted in Rob and Jamie and their defender display towards their mother. The more I read about Stephen the more I disliked him.
We follow 61 year old Julie, a florist with two grown sons who manage the family farm. With the death of her husband in the past, in walks Stephen....and there is just something a little off about him and everyone can see it except for Julie who is in love.
Popping up randomly unannounced and with a questionable past, Stephen soon coerces Julie into handing over her savings and as the story unfolds we realise that Julie really should have listened to her sons.
As readers we are nervous for Julie and worried about just how far this Stephen guy will go to get what he wants.
Julie's family, her twin sons and others play great supporting characters and this one really does have some thriller vibes.
Thank -you Shawline Publishing for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.
Gillians writing is easy to read, with quick chapters. A slow build to learn about each of the characters, right up until the intensity begins. I loved following the twin bond with brothers Jamile and Rob. Seeing their opposite personalities, and how they deal with the same situation. The heartache of reading Julie fall in love with the wrong man, but then wondering if I were in her position, would I be swept away by Stephen's charisma and persuasion? I love a strong woman who fights for her life, and Julie... is as strong as they come.
Well done Gillian, I look forward to reading more of your amazing work.
