Cruise Ship Cozy Mystery #3

Hibiscus Homicide Cruise

Rate this book
An impending divorce. An ornery homicide detective. The cruise of a lifetime. And ghosts.
Midlife on the high seas is proving to be a real killer.

If I thought the first half of my life was a bumpy ride, I’d better buckle up because I’m about to go over the hill and off the rails.
A cruise ship cozy mystery!

My name is Trixie Troublefield, and I see ghosts. It’s sort of a new thing, and it’s more than a problem.

A group called the Cancel Culture Club has set sail on the Emerald Queen. Society may not want anything to do with this unsavory bunch but a killer is sure interested in at least one of them.

And once that body shows up on the scene so does a poltergeist—and that good-looking ghost just so happens to bear a striking resemblance to a certain handsome detective I’m seeing.

Of course, I’m documenting the entire trip on my new blog, Suddenly Single—What a Trip! But in an effort to maintain some semblance of sanity I leave out a few details—like the fact I’ve managed to stumble upon yet another corpse—and exactly how hot the ghost is who was sent to help solve the murder.

I don’t dare tell about the fact I’m itching to take the next step in my relationship with Ransom either.

Some things are better left unsaid—and if my jumbled nerves have any vote in the matter, they might just be left undone as well.

Midlife on the high seas is proving to be murder.

On the bright side it’s going to be eighteen glorious nights to paradise—even if we are sailing to the South Pacific with a killer.

Midlife on the high seas is proving to be murder.

Hibiscus Honeymoon Cruise by Addison Moore is book 3 of Cruising Through Midlife: Cruise Ship Cozy Mysteries. This is a cute little murder mystery set on a cruise ship. Trixie Troublefield is working on a cruise ship after her divorce. She is in a group called the Cancel Culture Club. When a murder happens, they take it upon themselves to investigate. Trixie's boyfriend, Ransom, technically is in charge of the investigation. But Trixie and her friends can’t help but get involved. A pesky ghost keeps butting in and he looks identical to Ransom! One of her friends finds a ventriloquists dummy who creates havoc. The antics of this group will leave you shaking your head. This is a great murder mystery, but I did not enjoy the ghost or possessed dummy aspect. I didn’t see the point or any reason for them to be in the story. Also, the amount of food these women consumed was beyond belief. It was rather disgusting. I couldn’t eat in a week the amount of food Trixie ate in a day. Too unbelievable. I loved the Murder in the Mix series and Addison Moore is one of my favorite authors. Unfortunately, because of the reasons above I’m only rating this at 3 stars. Had it just been a story about the murder and revolved around the girls and their antics it would have been 5-star book. But for me the ghosts, dummy and huge food consumption just ruined it for me. It's time for an amazing South Pacific cruise. Trixie and her friends have just returned from a vacation in Honey Hollow, VT. But, it's time to get back to work, if you can call working on a cruise ship "work". There's usually some type of group on board and this trip, it's the Cancel Culture Club. The club is made up people that are now "cancelled" by society for things they have done but shouldn't have. It's an interesting mix of men and women. Unfortunately, there's a murder!!! So, who did it and why? Trixie is determined to find the murderer. The handsome detective on board the ship, who coincidentally is Trixie's boyfriend, is in charge of the investigation. But, Trixie has her own investigation going on. Can they find the murderer before the cruise ends and if so, who will find them first? Trixie might have an advantage as she meets up with a ghost that knew the victim and looks just like a certain someone...
I'm sure you'll enjoy this book and the series as much as I did. I love the cruise ship setting and the crazy cast of characters on board. If you like a mystery with a hint of romance and fun, you'll love this book!

Hibiscus homicide cruise is the third installment in a cozy mystery series revolving around Trixie Troublemaker. After her husband betrayed her, Trixie goes on the cruise she was supposed to take with her husband, starts a blog and lands herself a job on the cruise ship. Travelling together with her new eighty-something sassy friends Nettie and Bess, she keeps finding herself meeting ghosts and getting involved in a murder investigation. Hibiscus Homicide revolves around a murder of one of the members of the Cancel Culture Club - a cancelled celebrity. Despite constantly trying not to get involved, Trixie and her friends keep finding themselves in the middle of the drama. The book is pleasantly written, the characters are relatable (even though they eat copious amounts of food) and every book in the series has an interesting set of supporting characters. This time Nettie finds a ventriloquist dummy with a secret… I enjoyed reading this book, and am looking forward to the next book!

The mystery in this book led me on a very successful wild goose chase. And I adored the chance to travel with Trixie and her “partners in crime” as they explored the ports of call the Emerald Queen visits. However, I thought that Trixie missed some really obvious clues, particularly about the doppelganger, that left me gnashing my teeth in frustration. I also would like to see her learn to take her own safety just the tiniest bit more seriously, because she’s bordering on “too stupid to live” territory here now. However, their outlandish hijinks and the opportunity to travel the world from the comfort of my reading chair mean I’m still looking forward to seeing where the author is going to send this crew of trouble-magnets next.

I'm a huge cruiser, so I always look forward to a fun, murder cruise story. This is a good one. I have to say I love Trixie, she is a bubbly full of life character. She has her hands full writing a blog about her experiences on Emerald Queen. She is also still trying to master this new skill she has of seeing and hearing ghosts.
When she comes across a body, and with this body is a ghost who looks like her boyfriend Ransom. A slight differences between the two is the ghost is pesky and demanding. Ransom is in charge of figuring out who the criminal is.
We have this unique group of people who has a club called Cancel Culture Club. They have their own ways of helping Trixie solve the murder. Will she be able to keep them out of trouble and things.

This is the first book in the series I've read and it was easy to follow along with the characters. Trixie is the main character. She's on her own starting her new life (post divorce) working on a cruise ship. This cruise is heading to Hawaii. She has two fun, older ladies (in their 80's) that she hangs out with. She's at the beginning of a sweet romance with an on-board detective. All the characters are great. The descriptions of the Hawaii stops and the adventures on land are perfect. The ghost aspect (Trixie can see some ghosts) is minor. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a cute, cozy mystery with fun, sweet characters who are enjoying midlife and beyond.

Murder at Sea . . .

With her divorce behind her, Trixie Troublefield was ready to enjoy life working on a cruise ship on the high seas. So why did she have to stumble across the dead body of Julia Edwards? And of course, her boyfriend, onboard detective Ransom Baxter, wants her to stay out of it. However, Trixie is determined to find the murderer. A group called the Cancel Culture Club have a private party that will keep Trixie, Nettie, and Bess busy finding a killer. With a ghost who knew the victim (and looks very much like Ransom) joining the mix to help solve the murder, this could get tricky.

Grab your copy and try to put all the clues together with Trixie. Because the murderer just might decide to find a way to keep Trixie out of it… permanently!

Trixie Troublefield is living the dream, a job doing what she loves, a gorgeous boyfriend, and living on the high seas. What could possibly go wrong? Well... stumbling across a dead body could put a damper on things. When a group of cancel culture societal outcasts is cruising onboard, Trixie, Nettie, & Bess will have their hands full trying to find the killer in their midst. Trixie also thinks Ransom is hiding a BIG secret from her, while a doppelganger is messing with her sanity. Nettie gets a haunted, menacing "friend" of her own. Trixie will have to keep her cool if she hopes to catch a killer before the killer sets their eyes on her.

A cruise to the South Pacific, a murder, and a ghost: the perfect recipe for a cute, fun cozy chock full of quirky characters, amateur sleuths, and twists and turns that will keep you guessing. Never a spoiler in my reviews, this whodunit contains all you need to satisfy your desire for a well-written mystery with suspense, excitement, and of course a new boyfriend to add just a bit of spice.
Although it's book 3 in a series, does fine as a standalone, so don't hesitate if that's what's holding you back. Give it a try, you won't be sorry. I recommend this book to all cozy mystery lovers!

Trixie is having fun at the party on the boating. She sees the ladies that she met earlier. There seems to be an issue with one of them. Trixie stumbles up the woman, she is dead. Trixie also keeps seeing a very familiar face, so she is wondering if she missed an important sign. Trixie and the guy will try to figure out who killed this woman and why.

I really didn't go into deep as I did not want to spoil the story for anyone. This was fun read. You will enjoy your time with these cast of characters and the unique setting of the cruise ship. I recommend reading this series.

If you love mystery with fun and mayhem thrown in, then this is for you. Tricks Troublefield is a magnet for trouble and finding dead bodies, especially as she can see ghosts too. Is her boyfriend Ransom playing tricks or is there another explanation? Her two friends, Bess and Bertie are her partners in crime plus this time they have an odd tag along too - a ventriloquist's dummy. Plus the descriptions of the Hawaiian islands are fab - so grab a copy and join the fun, you won't regret it.

Trixie and her cohorts find more than a little trouble when a rebuilding their images and careers reboot group comes aboard, and one of the ladies winds up with a creepy wooden companion

Tinsley manages to make strides towards making Trixie disappear. Is this the beginning of the end?

A ghost who looks a lot like a certain detective causes more than a little mayhem

Intrigue and action afloat and in scenic tropical locales.

As usual Trixie is doing what she does best. Finding dead bodies, solving mysteries, and just generally making people's day either happier (her crew and friends on board) or more miserable (enter Tinsley). In Ransom's case definitely happier Trixie and her crew has to hurry up and solve this mystery before the ghostly look alike of her certain someone) drives her up a wall. Hang on to your leis because there's lots of twists in this book.

I found this book harder to get into than the earlier books in the series.

Trixie's latest ghost helper is a Ransom the Handsome, ship security officer, look-a-like. Ransom himself is pulling out all stops to make Trixie happy - they do a manta ray by night excursion in Hawaii, also a helicopter flight over an active volcano with a landing on the ship's helipad, much to the anoyment of Wes, the ship's captain who also lusts after Trixie. Ransom is winning the race for Trixie's heart but Wes is still in the game!

Trixie Troublefield is back on the Emerald Queen cruising through her new life. Unfortunately she has stumbled upon another dead body. This seems to be a running theme where Trixie is concerned these days but with her newfound ability to see and communicate with the dead and her insatiable appetite for justice to be served she and her crazy crew on board will make sure the killer doesn't get away with murder! This was a fast paced fun read!

Trixie is at it again

Yet another fun and fast read from Addison Moore. This is the third trip that the Emerald Queen is taking to Hawaii with one Trixie Troublefield aboard. I really liked this book better than the last. Trixie, Nettie, Less, Ransom, Wes, & all the other characters are such fun to read about. I can't wait to jump into book 4 where the ship changes course and heads for Alaska.

While the writing is good and the majority of the characters are fun, there are way too many steamy situations to consider this a cozy. Highly enjoyable, slightly less crude then the second book and well written is worth reading IF you like a more mature and slightly erotic narration.

Loved this!!

I really love the cruise ship cozy mysteries!! Not only is the mystery fun to read and try to figure out who did it, but i love how Trixie explains so much about the Cruise she's on... the food she eats, the excursions she goes on, the ship details!! And of course hearing about Ransom is awesome!!!

Great series!

Laugh A Minute

I love this series! You never know what to expect from the terrible trio; Trixie, Bess and Nettie. Throw in Handsome Ransom and the Captain and the gang is one big adventure in the cruise ship Emerald Queen. Laugh along with Trixie and her "ghosts" in another delightful mystery.

Aloha Hawaii

Trixie and friends explore more Hawaiian attractions , while actively searching out potential suspects to a shipboard murder. Ransom, the delectable detective, does not approve. Nothing new there. However the method of murder and the finale are surprising.

Another wonderful story about living on a ship going places with friends she met on the ship, a love interest and maybe more and of course, another murder to solve. This murder kept me guessing because of how it was done.
