The monsters almost made me love them.

And now I’m paying the price.

But so are they.

Stellan, Cain, Remington, Paxton and I are locked together in a war that I refuse to lose.

They’ve taken my freedom, my money, my reputation…but they can’t take my soul.

They keep forgetting I was forged in fire by a demon. Monsters don’t scare me.

They think I’m trapped in their mansion with them. They think every time I seek their mouths, their hands, it means something.

They think they can break me with their punishments…and their pleasures.

But I’m only playing their game to win our war.

One by one, I’ll find their secrets, however bloody they are, and make them think I’m saving them…only to use those dark secrets against them.

Death. Bloodshed. Betrayal…and now Sex. That’s all my life will ever be. Now it’s time to welcome these men into my nightmares.

These monsters think they’re the kings of the world.

But the king always falls without the queen.

And the kings in this game...are going to burn.

I absolutely LOOOVED book one (Make Me Lie) when it came out several months ago, so I was pretty hyped about the follow up. And I was not disappointed.

This picks up right where book one left off, but instead of running away after literally setting the guys belongings on fire, Aurora decides to stick around to start getting real revenge.

I loved that we got to see more of the guys’ individual quirks and backstories—especially Remington. Another trope I always love? When they can’t sleep unless they sleep together and soothe each other when they have nightmares. 🥺 Oh, and spice was chefs kiss excellent.

Aurora is a badass and a half, and I can’t wait to see where this story goes next!

So disappointed!
The ending of book 1 said the ground shook. But apparently no one was injured? Also book 1 ended with her promising revenge. Just like my review for book 1, she always promises revenge but does nothing.
The character that's introduced, is not the character that's maintained. The character introduced is this fearless, badass, skilled, trained daughter of a serial killer. The character in this book can't defend herself, she's scared of the dark, she's scared of water, and she relies on men to be shining white knights. She's always a victim.

Once again, the men have no distinct characteristics. No quirks. No descriptions. I can't tell one from the other.

Superwomen Aurora Fights The Bad Guys While Adding To Her Kings Collection

*** May Contain Spoilers***

Well it’s second book time.

Aurore continues to “play” with the Kings
Cain
Stellan
Pax &
Remington,

And they continue to punish her for her disobedience.

Fair to say, Aurore has discovered a liking for their punishment’s.
Discovering that she has more than a few kinks that she needs satisfying, after she lost her elusive V card to Stellan.

And in this book she continues to indulge in those kinks much to the enjoyment of herself, & her four Kings.
All, while she takes down bad guys like the Little Demon, Daddy dearest trained her to be.

Got to say.

I have never been more disappointed in all my life than at the start of this second book.

What a cop out, after the dramatic ending to the previous one.

A) How come nobody was seriously injured in the incident that happened at the party?
I mean the ground had shook it was supposed to have been like a bomb had gone off!

AND.

B) Why TF! Didn’t Aurora run. & KEEP running, changing her appearance again.
I was furious to read she was still in the house.

So.

With her choice to stay, in this book, Aurora, is content to use her sassy mouth, & her body to take back the power that the Kings have over her.

This is the book where she is in sexual overdrive.

Her Clit is always throbbing, her P**** is always wet.
She can barely keep her legs together, she’s constantly needy, horney & panting.

Everything is a turn-on for her, smells, clothing, a piece of furniture, anything thst sparks a memory.

Her core is always THROBBING !

So, between kinky sex games with the guys, where she discovered more & more how F’s up she is after hiding it for years, Aurore begins to conduct her OWN type of revenge on the guys, while Stellan continues to try & find out what her father might have done to his missing sister.

The situation regarding Sophie continues to be a dark cloud over their ongoing relationship.

But of course Aurora always has the other Kings to torment & quench her newly found deviant sexual appetite.

Remington continues to deal with his debauched, cruel, POS father

Cain continues being psycho Cain ( although Aurore is quickly topping the charts herself in THAT department )

And Pax continues to fight while providing solace, providing comfort, easing her troubled mind when there is another nightmare.

Throughout all of this Aurore STILL has the threat of her serial killer father, tucked up in prison, to worry about, & a new character the author/s have introduced known only as “him” who is stalking her.

Of course Aurore still allows herself to try & experience some semblance of college life normalcy with her bestie Jenna….Cue the parties.

Jenna.

What a suck up pain-in-the- a** THAT girl IS

She is SUCH a hanger on.

Using Aurora to heighten her own college experience.
She annoyed the c**p out of me

Despite the great read of the first book, this second one requires the reader to suspend belief in some obvious plot ploys.

Like.

Every time Aurora needs to call on a skill set, we suddenly find out that her father has taught it to her.

She bought the boxing gloves for Pax’s fight opponent, & it seems the author/s couldn’t explain how she manage to do this with NO MONEY!

So.

They conveniently add that she has the foresight to purchase them, BEFORE Pax had even announced he was fighting Scareface.…Hmmm

When she was following Remington.

He left the house before her.

She goes to follow.

Is stopped by Stellan for a little chat

YET!

She managed to leave ‘The Sphinx’ steal a students car, & catching up to him

The timeline just don’t add up?

He would have been MILES down the road before she’d gotten out the house.

And don’t even get me started on the conveniently placed “ tracking device”

Yep.

In this book Aurora is a veritable SUPERWOMAN!.

Nothing & nobody can phases her.

Well, except the Kings, only because she gets a certain pleasure from their brand of punishment.

“I eyed Stellan, ignoring the pang of tired lust in my gut that always sparked up when he was near me.”

Um…she basically was in a constant STATE of lust!

FOR ALL THE GUYS

She was constantly gushing in her panties.

So, as this book drew to its cliffhanger close. Its with a sense of “here we go again” as the always resilient Aurora finds herself in another precarious situation.

A situation she will (obviously) recover from in the next book.

I have to say this story ended up diving into the usual RH tropes a little too much for my liking.

The authors were wetting their lips, overindulging us in deviant sex, after deviant sexual scenes.
Also, this is the book where I got fed up with Aurora’s power trip.

Every bad situation she got herself into, she quickly got out of due to her fathers training.

She should be THANKING him at least, for her skill set.

With her already falling for all these guys & them for her, things are getting boring as there are no dissenters amongst the guys, she’s collecting them all like trophies

The first book I’ve finished in one day in over a decade.

I don’t think it was necessarily the book but my weird smutty mood for the past two months. When is it going to end?!

Edit to a few weeks later:

Alright so the mood has ended, now I can actually give thoughts.

This book was even more messed up than the last. The first book ends with the men being mad at our main protagonist, making it a cat and mouse type game of revenge. The men go too far, she goes too far, honestly this is toxic as hell.

And yet I had a blast. It's not everyday I read characters who want to go at it with bodies nearby. Talk about needed therapy.

Also we're almost halfway through the series and no group scene. I know the guys are jealous of one another, and I loved the forced proximity of her living in the house with them BUT I really hope the guys will eventually get over their D measuring contests and work together in the bedroom because that's half the fun with Why Choose books (honestly I like the slow burn so as long as it happens I'm happy).

I'm looking forward to seeing how much more chaotic this gets.

Much better than the first in the series. I will continue with this series when I have more time for it.
Much more dark and twisty about four boys and their toy, Delilah/Aurora/Demon's Daughter. Allot more shmexy time and higher stakes.

I would recommend for those that like Amos as an author and want to continue the Rich Demons of Darkwood series.

Aurora puts her big girl panties on and let’s herself really show in this one. She starts to embrace who she is and sets out to not let the boys get the best of her. She’s the perfect amount of psycho and the men are the perfect match.

This group is all types of crazy, and yes definitely my type. Can’t wait to see what’s in store, especially with that jaw dropping cliffy.

I can never, never stop being anxious for Aurora, but at the same time shes so freaking bad ass Dude. She may be the captive kind of of these men, but ugh get ready cause the QUEEN IS GONNA REIGN HELL ON YOUR KINGDOM.

I was so mad after book one. How fucking dare these men?!!!! Im so upset, but did not expect Aurora to do such Queen and Alpha like actions. It was intense for book two and I WAS HERE FOR IT.

She didn’t back down and she was here to fight with and use all those skills she picked up you know from when she was young. In spite of what happened a lot of things happened in book two and ugh i love have this was written i just cant stop reading this book.

Aurora is just a vivacious little Minx and she’s coming for your asses. I freakinv LOVED IT!!!

I undetstand Stellan needs justice for his Sister, but he’s starting to piss me off and ugh going rogue like that. Cain, Cain, Cain is my King. Pax i loved Pax here. 🥵🥵🥵🥵And omg Rem 🥰

Omg the stalker tho creeped me the hell out.

Yes I was EAGERLY waiting for this second installment to be released! I loved that we got to see more of Aurora and how much of a badass she is. She is loyal to a fault and I loved seeing her run to the defense of others. There was some primal play here which was interesting, but not really my thing. Lots of spice. And that cliffhanger! I have a feeling it will be wrapped up (the plot point that came at the very end of the book) fairly quickly in the 3rd book but I'm excited to see how it unfolds.

I still can't get my head into this book

I thought her revolution after what they did to her in the 1st book was going to be good payback. But nope she's just stays there and gets treated like a use tissue. Not hot or interesting at all. Pay back looks like she enjoys them using her and wanting her. I really waited for this and now I'm disappointed. No fun when we have a willing H that just takes what they want. So she's not a badass anymore. Just sad and again disappointing.

What in the world?! This didn't make sense. Everyone was so back and forth on their actions and feelings. Aurora was supposed to be this badass, but she just came off like an immature child wanting attention. I don't see the appeal.

The inconsistencies are absolutely horrible and take so much from this book. You can clearly tell sentences and whole paragraphs are missing in dialog. I was so excited for this series but I don't think I can continue.

The Evil You’re Born With

“I wondered how long it would take for them to stop underestimating me. For the kings to see that there was a queen in their midst.”

WOW! That ending tho.

Book 2 does not disappoint. It definitely took a twist that I did not see coming. It’s clear we have a stalker/copy cat watching Aurora. Is he friends with the Demon himself? I think so. But they are NOT happy.

*******
Cain, Remington, Pax and Stellan are determined to make her life miserable, but even when they start to realize how much they want her, can they trust her?

When Remington takes her help, he realizes his thoughts are all wrong about Aurora. Love is thicker than anything he was feeling before and I love that she finally has someone on her side!!

Cain is mildly obsessed, but can he own up to his true feelings? Pax is a wild card, he clearly has feelings but something is holding him back. Then there’s our sweet Stellan. It’s plain as day how he feels about Aurora but his will to discover the truth about his sister is blinding him.

Also these flashback, or dreams that Aurora keeps having….are they really dreams??? I can’t wait to find out.

When Aurora is taken from the guys, it starts to set off their true emotions and we get a glimmer of what she means to all of them.

The Demon is getting messages sent to her, he knows things he shouldnt…and someone is clearly spying on Aurora. When a body turns up with his signature mark, she realizes no one, even her, is safe!

******************

I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK. I couldn’t put it down. The overall storyline was amazing and truly original! It was a rollercoaster of emotions and that ending….Man o man will he have it coming!!! And the Authors really did find a way to make me scared of a fictional character. Haha. The Demon sounds so crazy!!

*Overall 5/5
*Heat? 4/5
*First person POV. Mostly Aurora. But we get small chapters from some of the guys.
*Dark? 4/5
*Triggers? Yes. (Molest. Rape. Blood. Bullying.)
*Ends on cliffhanger

I received an ARC copy for my honest review and opinion! Thank you ♥️

BEEEEEEEP….y’all hear that? That’s the sound of me dying from the heart palpations Rich Demons of Darkwood has given me. I can’t decide if I should sue May Dawson and C.R. Jane for the months of therapy I’ll undoubtedly need to get over that cliffy or for my future hospital bills. A girl can only have so many mini heart attacks before there’s long term issues after all.

In case my heart issues didn’t already make this clear, I couldn’t put these books down… Which means this review is for books 1-3. Fun fact I was actually so addicted to this series that I read Make Me Lie & Make Me Burn back to back in one sitting within a handful of hours annnnd got 30% through Make Me Wild that same day. It’s not my fault!, I swear C.R. & May used some type of magic while writing this series because Rich Demons of Darkwood had me absolutely spellbound from the very first page.

I can honestly say that I can’t pick out one specific thing that I loved most about these books, they were just absolute perfection! If you love a dark romance that’s covered in blood and full of steam but also has an IMPECCABLE plot that’ll keep you on your toes then GO BUY THIS SERIES IMMEDIATELY! Fair warning tho, don’t start it at 1am, you’ll be a gremlin until you finish it.

This is the second book in the Rich Demons of Darkwood series. I wasn't sure what to expect with how the first book left off, but man, am I intrigued with everything that has happened! It appears Aurora has reservations of her own given the circumstances of everything that has happened. The guys aren't aware that there's more she deliberately isn't saying to spare them, of course, even if they don't deserve it. She's withstood all of the Demon's sins and teachings while still holding on. The main concern is still what happened to Stellans sister, and he's relentless on her involvement with the Demon. But when all the creeps come out, just how far will Aurora be pushed before she finally shatters?

When I read book one of this series I planned to pace myself. Read it slowly and enjoy the storyline. It’s been 1 day and I’m ready to dive into book 3. It’s dark and delicious.

Make Me Beg was filled with so much twists, turns, drama, angst, secrets, revelations, revenge, emotions, and so much heat!!

Aurora is such a badass! Her epic punishments for the guys was so deserved after the way they treated her.

My favourite guy is constantly changing chapter by chapter but all of them are everything you'd want in a guy especially if you like your book boyfriends with a dark psycho side!!!

I can't wait for the next book. There's so much that I'm desperate to know. Bring on book 3! Definitely recommend!

Well that was a book and a half. I’ve loved these characters from book one and book two made me love them just so much more. There are so many truths coming to the surface throughout the whole story and definitely some heart in your mouth moments. The four boys Pax, Remy, Cain and Stellan are as dark as they come, but Aurora is just as dark and twisted as they are and she proves just how much in this book.

An epic cliffhanger ending letting me wanting more and I really can’t wait to read the third book in this series.

Oh my gosh!! this book was freaking amazing!!! I really enjoyed the first one, but damn girls!!!

Aurora is my soulmate. You may be able to think that you can push us around, but you better watch out. We can give just as good as we get. I cannot wait to see what these boys get.

I am having a hard time not forgiving these boys from what happened in book one, I keep telling myself you must be strong! But I must admit I am weakening.

I so enjoyed this dark and twisted read, and I must say you have had me from the beginning.

Must Read

Make Me Beg is book 2 in C.R. Jane & May Dawson’s Rich Demons of Darkwood series.

Aurora is still fighting the guys with her sarcasm and wittiness. The guys are still trying to pretend they are not completely obsessed with her but of course they are 😉

I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see what these amazing authors are going to give us next!!

Aurora was really forged in fire in this one! She is the badass I was hoping for in the first book. Takes no shit from anyone especially the boys. 😏 She puts up with a lot of shit but gives it back twice as good.

Such a good follow up to the first book. After this book I've decided to be on team Paxton. Ughh I love him! 😩

Obsessed

I'm utterly obsessed with these characters and the plot. cR Jane and May Dawson are an incredibly talented match made in heaven. Make me beg kept me on the edge of my seat at times. This is a fast paced series so far, with a lot of attention for both plot and character development which I absolutely love. I can't wait for more!

Although I do like the series, I just can't drink the koolaide on this one.
Waay, too many errors. Wrong words. Repeating. And no closure on if she is a member or not since she was abducted and sexually assaulted.
On to book three.

not gonna lie I fell into a reading slump half way through the book soo you could say I got bored or lost interest. The ending did make a comeback so it’s a 50/50 chance if I read the rest of the series in the future.. but for now I need to read something else so I don’t fall in another reading slump

I so love this book!! Book one was fantastic all on it's own but this one just makes this series even better!!! We pick right back up where the last book left off. Aurora has caught the guys' things on fire but instead of running she is waiting for them instead. From this point on the story never stops as it all plays out. The next thing I knew it was over and I was wishing for more. Book three needs to hurry up is all I can say (no pressure for the authors though this is just me having wishful thinking)! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
