He’s an over-achieving perfectionist. She doesn’t tolerate bossy men.
Grant Foster is organized, focused, and hardworking—or as his younger sister calls it, neurotic. When the opportunity of a lifetime—becoming the Vice President of Marketing—is within his grasp, he is determined to succeed. He must rely on the help of an accomplished and beautiful coworker to achieve his goal. A coworker who is as distracting as she is talented.
Failure isn’t an option for Celeste Hightower. She’s had to work too hard to get where she’s at. Working with the man she’s had a crush on for the past four years is just another hurdle she needs to cross. Too bad fear of failing keeps her from chasing her true dream.
A workplace romance is a bad idea—they rarely work out. And Grant doesn’t break the rules. Especially with so much on the line. He needs Celeste’s help to connect with his younger siblings, though, and she needs moral support to face her estranged father again. The more they work together outside the office, the blurrier the lines become. When Celeste finds out she’s been living a lie, and Grant’s younger sister goes missing, their relationship is put to the test.
Jill Burrell is an author of sweet, small-town romances full of faith, hope, and family.
She has always been an avid reader, and romance has always been her favorite genre. If she’s not writing or folding laundry her head is usually in a book.
When her father told her, “I’ve got a story I want you to write,” she didn’t think she’d ever actually do it. But after twenty years of being a stay-at-home mom with seven children, the idea of writing and publishing a book sounded less terrifying than entering the workforce again. Boy, was she wrong!
I enjoyed this romance story with all the characters. The main characters were Celeste Hightower and Grant Foster.
Celeste Hightower has a crush on someone that she works with. They have crossed paths throughout the years. So when her boss asks her to work with the man she a crush on she very surprised. While working with her crush she get to know the guy.
Grant Foster has half brother and sister that he been taking care of sincere his father and their mother car crash. His own mother past away from sickness. So when his boss call him to his office to talk. He afraid that he is going to lose his job. But instead his boss has a big project that he want him to do. And he will also be working with the woman that he been looking at for a awhile.
This was a fun story to read. It had action, drama and a bit of suspense throughout.
I received a complimentary copy via StoryOrigin. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
Jill Burrell did a five star job of creating her characters. Both of them had issues with their dads which melded their friendship. I loved how Celeste brought in the 5 Love Languages to help Grant understand his siblings, as well as giving understand towards their own relationship.
The author did a wonderful job of keeping the tension going.
I was so pleased to see Celeste have the agency to quit her job and pursue what she really loved. You go girl!
I listened to the audio book.
This book wasn't overtly faith filled but had all the qualities and restraints of a pure life. I reviewed this as an ARC through Story Origin.
It’s Complicated is a good clean forbidden office romance. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook. Grant and Celeste are attracted to each other, but they can’t have a work place relationship. It becomes super complicated when they end up leading a team together. To add to Grant’s stress, he is having problems raising his brother and sister. Celeste tries to help him, and she is determined to help their relationship grow. She is also determined to make something of herself. They avoid their feelings for a long time, but eventually the relationship works out for the best. Grant screws up pretty bad, but he redeems himself. You end up with an entertaining happily ever after.
Grant has his hands full. A full time career, teenage siblings to finish raising and a coworker he would like to get to know better. Cecelia is a graphic designer at the advertising firm where Grant works and has had aa crush on him for four years. Workplace romances are never a good thing, especially if things don't work out. Things just got extra difficult as the boss put them together on the biggest job the firm has. Six weeks they have to spend working on this project together. Good book, very easy read. Look forward to more of Jill's books
This is a nicely developed and fun office romance between Celeste and Grant. The both work for the same advertising firm and both have both have crushed on each other but keep things professional. When their boss teams them up for a project it brings them in close proximity for several months. Grant has a lot going on with work at the advertising firm and raising his younger siblings. Grant and Celeste have past trauma that they must get past in order to move forward. The is a sweet story that develops nicely. The narrator did a really good job bringing this story to life.
Jill Burrell did wonderful job with her characters. Both had difficulty with their Dads. Will Celeste Hightower and Grant be able to work out their growing attraction to each other. Grant is a high achiever hard working man who is looking at a rise if he can Pull off the big job he has been given with the help of Celeste. Then there is complication with Celeste’s long time friend Amy gets pregnant and has a baby girl. There are quite a few tensions in this story. Love very subtle mention of Christianity in story - when all else falls turn to God…. Loved this book.
I really enjoyed this prequel to the Finding Providence series and much to my surprise it is not a novella! I was drawn in immediately and found the story engaging. The author did a wonderful job portraying the struggle Grant & Celeste had trying to maintain a professional working relationship while containing their growing attraction to each other. I loved the fact that whole book wasn't about them pretending that there wasn't an attraction but acknowledging it. I found the characters relatable and the story realistic. I look forward to reading the next in the series.
This was a truly lovely story between two people who work for the same company but decide to keep their working relationship professional - it is complicated!!!
Love how they connect and build their relationship through answering questions posed to each other by the other! Clean, contemporary romance with past traumas to overcome and present difficulties to work through together.
A truly beautiful story! I loved the dynamic between Grant and Celeste, and their efforts to maintain a professional relationship was adorable. I especially loved that Grant’s sensitive and emotional nature was well balanced with his manliness (I’m a sucker for a softie!!) Support characters were loveable in their own ways. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and look forward to the sequel.
There is a reason companies frown on workplace romances. This is a clean love story. Grant and Celcia both have busy lives. Now the boss has assigned them to work closely together on a six-week project. They try to keep it professional; they try.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This was a cute, flirty and sizzling romance without spice or language. I thoroughly enjoyed it! While there were a few mentions of Christianity within the story, it was not an integral part of it. I liked how well Celeste and Grant’s personalities complemented each other. And the chemistry! Whew!! <3 I’m looking forward to reading more of Jill Burrell’s books.
I really enjoyed this book. So much can be learned and so much can be healed when we listen to each other. I really like the depth of Grant and Celeste as well as the supporting characters. Thanks for a great read!
This author's style is such that I have no difficulty reading her stories more than once and this one is no exception, especially when it inderectly sets the stage as a prequel to the Finding Providence series
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
This was my first Jill Burrell's book. This is a prequel of the Finding Providence Series, a Contemporary Romance. Grant and Celeste's workplace romance is sweet, and engaging. I liked their slow burn romance. Danny Montooth did a good job with the narration. #StoryOrigin
Some people ha e boundaries, some ha e issues and others are just picky. But it is complicated. Now she has someone who can figure her out but how will she evaluate his discovery
I enjoy this Author's work. She writes well and you feel like you are living the story with the characters. For me, it was another good page-turner story.
This book was so good!! I loved every page of it, the characters were wonderful. Their storyline grabbed me from the very beginning!! I am so excited to read the rest of this story!
Grant and Celeste have worked together on some campaigns in the past. When they end up working closely together exclusively on one campaign it gets harder to keep their relationship strictly professional. Will they be able to wait until the end of this project? How does she react to her father trying to reconnect? When two emergencies happen on the same day miscommunications occur. What happens with this complicated relationship?
