CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.
Being close to the end of this story, we should know what the stakes are. We should know what the hero is planning to do about the bad guy. We should know more about what the villain is planning. It's become so frustrating to go through each chapter and learn next to nothing about what's happening.
I hope you're hungry...for nothing. Absolutely nothing. We get Sakura running around, make more cards (for whatever reason, no crumbs left to follow back to the main plot) and carry on her middle school life.
I think what it comes down to is this: this became more slice of life than it did the magical girl adventure. I came into this series with the mistake of expecting it to build upon the original series with more magical adventures, with stronger enemies and cards since they're a little older. And that's not what I got. So far I have Sakura in jr high featuring the clear cards.
Never again (after finishing this series) will I read anything by CLAMP. I wouldn't subject myself to it even if you paid me.
As much as I dislike Alice in Wonderland things, this volume was slightly interesting. I’m actually curious as to what will happen in the next volume. That said, this still feels like the exact same volume I’ve been reading for the past…3 years? It’s the same characters, same actions, rinse, repeat.
Vedremo...
I feel like this added nothing to the storyline. It was a bit disappointing after waiting almost 6+ months for it to just be translated. Get it if you want to continue the series otherwise, don't bother with this one.
I will be honest, I forgot to review this after I read this earlier this year and I just ordered the final volume to be coming in the mail on Friday which it what reminded me to check my previous review. So I'm skimming to remember what happened in this novel. That's the thing about Manga, all the volumes blend together for me.
We finally get some much deserved backstory of Yuna D Kaito. And Sakura is making cards representing everyone she knows left and right, so much so, that some of them are just downright weird, like Kindness, what is that supposed to do exactly?
There's also a weird segment where Syoaran is trying to like mint chocolate chip because Sakura likes it and Kaito is trying to like something that Akiho likes. It doesn't make any sense since what does it matter if your significant other and you have different tastes. It just means you have more to yourself if you do make or buy it. It honestly just puzzles me why the writers would even include such a weird subject, I could see them trying out a movie even if its in a genre they hate just because their partner likes it, but to eat something you know you don't like to try and force yourself to like it? Like what? They'd hate me, I don't like Mint or Chocolate so I would definitely not be eating Mint Chocolate chip!
I honestly am giving this book 5 stars just because we're finally focusing on the story and this is all coming to a head at the end of this novel (probably because the next is the last one). The end leaves off on a cliff hanger as the play is taken over by Kaito's magic and Syoaran, Sakura, and Akiho are pulled into another dimension where some of Sakura's cards have come to life and Syoaran ends up catching the Mirror card. Syoaran and Sakura still can't touch. And Toya has a badass moment where he freezes time with the help of his mom's spirit and Yue.
Overall, I just like that this book picked up the pace, other than the weird Mint Chocolate thing.

Ibu Akiho, Lilie, selalu membawakan Yuna makanan manis.
Touya rupanya punya kekuatan menghentikan waktu.
Lho???
First: I was both happy and sad to see that Clear Card will end with volume 15. I didn't realize we're so close to the end, but it was originally going to end in 14, so - yay! - we're getting an extra volume!
That said, I agree with most of the other reviews both good and bad or neutral. We really don't know much. We've been told a lot, but what do we really know concretely? We've seen much in reoccurring dreams, which feels like a waste now that I know we're do close to the end. It seems like so much is insinuated or hinted at and I don't know if it's a translation issue, but I feel like a lot of it goes over my head. I hope it'll all make sense once it's complete and I can read it all the way through.
But I can't rate it lower than 5. Sakura is the cutest darn girl and I love her and her family (and Clamp's art). And Touya!! FINALLY! I think I omg'd out loud. LOL But I'm so lost. Maybe I'm supposed to be? I don't know. I feel like I have a tenuous grasp on the story and wish it was stronger. We should really know more at this point. I wish we were getting more volumes. :( At the same time, I hope that finishing Clear Card will get Clamp back onto xxxHolic REI.

There's still just enough backstory missing to hide something else, but CLAMP has shown us most of the relationship between Kaito and Akiho. Is that about right? I'm sure there's one more detail that's going to change everything, like who Akiho's father is.
The play, Alice in Clockland, has started and went sideways almost immediately. It's not exactly clear what happened to Sakura or Akiho when they were pulled through the doorway, but Syaoran wasted no time diving in after them. Toya, Yukito/Yue, Cerberus, Spinel, and Nakuru are all on the outside. (I'm sure Kaito can let himself in.) All the Clear Cards are Alice in Wonderland-style replacements for Sakura's friends inside the dream/nightmare/clockland/book.
I saw it! Anyone who read Tsubasa or xxxHolic saw it! Did the translator choose not to use 'hitsuzen' or (knowing CLAMP) was there a different meaning behind "there are no coincidences in this world, only fate." Either way, I had a little squeal when I saw it.
There aren't a lot of volumes left, but CLAMP can cover a lot of ground in very little time. 3/5
Now we're talking! This is CCS at its best: gorgeous designs, breathtaking backgrounds, and exciting developments. Finally, the school play is in full swing, and it's unfolding alongside long-awaited moments that have been building up for over 20 years. Seeing Touya, Yukito, Kero, and especially all of them together, feels like a gift. It also brings me so much joy to see Syaoran playing a meaningful and active role in Sakura’s journey. He’s absolutely the best. And my girl Sakura, still a little confused, of course, but she keeps moving forward.
I think I might have said this before, but my kingdom for some plot. Please, just tell me something about what the hell's going on. Everything feels so incidental and unconnected, and Sakura runs from problem to problem without any resolution. Cards come and go without any explanation, and this late in the game, it's getting super frustrating.
The art's still lovely, but the plot is paper thin.
Again, there is too much Alice in Wonderland for me but it's made up for with Sakura's mom having a larger role, and Syaoran as a cat. This volume is mostly the kids getting ready for the play but Syaoran and Sakura finally get some quality time to talk. It really makes me wish this series continues on as they get older.
The pace sped up a bit again in this collection as we went through flashbacks to Yuna's life before Akiho, more about the school play, more about Sakura's family, and even more about her big brother's own powers. This was worth the wait to get and it ends on what promises to be an exciting next few chapters in the series.
tbh i think this will make a killer anime season because the visuals are sick and like. with any luck, by the time they get this far the story will have wrapped up and they can write more coherence into the episodes with the benefit of knowing the endgame
So surreal! And the tsubasa references... I really loved this volume. The first in Clear Card to hit me like older Clamp. I think the ending can be something really special...
